Hello and welcome to NerdVomit, the only show where I probably will never think of an intro. This is going to be the Denver Comic-Con 2018 recap episode. I'll get more into what I've been doing, such as The Last of Us, Tale Tales, Guardians of the Galaxy, Atlantis Season 2, and other things. Next week, this is just going to be a 2018 Denver Comic-Con recap.
My God, did we, the BAC and the Blood Alcohol content network have a blast at Denver Comic-Con? Now, to begin, unfortunately, with Dead being Inter-accident, which was talked about on last week's Dam, she was in there. That did suck, and there were a few panels and Q&As I went to that I wish she would have been there for. So, we wish Deb a speed recovery, and, you know, it sucks, but that's what it is.
I want to thank James Post and my friend JR, who stepped up and helped me cover some of the Comic-Con along with our intern, Katarina Silva, who helped us take pictures for our Instagram account and Twitter and to some small extent, Facebook. But on with the show, let's talk about it. Again, Friday was a blast. Ended up getting a great room downtown, so I didn't have to bounce back and forth, and immediately jumped right into getting myself in the room and jumping into panels.
Saturday was great. It was pretty much run back and forth. I was smart enough to have packed a bunch of cliff bars and bottles of water in my backpack, and pretty much just ran around not eating much and drinking small amounts of water here and there because I didn't want to go to the bathroom during panels and Q&As. Had a blast with some friends who came downtown, ran into some co-workers who were there, got some great pictures, met a few other podcasters from RealNerdz, E-E-L, and so like you know, podcast, which I'll be tagging them and doing some cross promotion with them on this episode and on social media.
And then Sunday I spent pretty much four hours straight at panels in one room. God bless media passes. I didn't have to get back up and go back outside and get in line and get a receipt. They were very accommodating for media people and disabled people as well.
There were some bitches I heard, some complaints about lack of ADA or disabled seating versus a glut of media seating and the media section was bigger this year and it just goes to show you that Denver Comic Con is becoming bigger and they want the exposure and people want to cover it. It's not New York, Chicago, or San Diego by any stretch of the imagination, but it's getting there. That's the thing. The more exposure they get, the bigger they get, the better guests they get, the more programming they can do and the more people that were behind the media section get to see ultimately or have the opportunity to get to see if they get in a few of the panels were full.
So luckily with media passes we got some great stuff for you upcoming stuff like David Tennant, Billy Piper, Frank Miller, a garden to the Galaxy Q&A which was up last with Sean Gunn and Palm, I'm going to mispronounce her last name, Comantiff, she was Mantis and he's crackling in the garden to the Galaxy. There was a great panel I went to that discussed the world of Horizon Zero of Dawn which is one of my favorite video games of all time. Hot on the heels with David Tennant and Billy Piper, there was also John Barriman, all from Doctor Who, amongst other things they do, but John Barriman known for Doctor Who and Arrow, Mark Shepard from Supernatural which I have watched one episode of, but he was charming, he was also on Firefly, I forgot about that, he played Badger. There were a couple writer panels I went to that I'll use the audio for this show as well as for Mr.
Wright and there was panels about plotting versus organic free form writing which I've talked about Mr. Wright before, there was a great panel with Q&A and very informative about self-publishing which like I said may not be necessarily what you all want to listen to when you come to know Plon's, Just the Clamp and Ordnerd vomit, but you know for those of you who are interested in the process or just are interested to see how the sausage is made in terms of how the things you love get written, it was kind of cool. We also had a mini-power Rangers reunion with Amy Do Johnson, the original Pink Ranger and oh man what is his name Jason, something or other, the original Green Ranger, I'm sorry I forgot his name, I'm not a huge power ranger fan obviously. There was a great panel that I was not at, that JR covered, that was the psychology of the Avengers and how their team dynamic actually does work or doesn't work, I'm not sure, I've not listened to the audio yet, I'm still recovering from the whole weekend of Dampir Comicon.
We got Ron Perlman, Hellboy himself and speaking of another Hellboy himself, we also got David Harber, let's see what else, Sean Gunn on his own, that was great and rounding it out kind of a neat one that I've listened to the audio for but I want to listen to is the sex work, sex industry and sci-fi and Jerry was telling me all about it, how it's sci-fi and fantasy, legitimizing and demystifying sex, sex industry, prostitutes and surrogates and such. I was thinking about the Family Reunion with the voice actors of Bulma, Vegeta and Trunks, which Jerry had a blast at and was really funny. So that's all going to be coming up in the next couple months, I'll be releasing those with intermittent episodes of NerdVomit where I talk about what else I'm into, we'll be talking about the finale of Legion and Archer and if you podcast I've listened to for Good or For Ill, that's not the name of one of them, it's just I listened to episodes and while I like the premise on paper, I don't like it in execution but we'll talk about that later, not this episode. But I had a blast at Infra Comicon and I hope you look forward to hearing all the amazing audio and interviews and panels that we went to.
Once again I'd like to thank JR and Katarina, I'd also like to thank PopCulture Classroom, which is a nonprofit organization that utilizes pop culture to teach socialization skills, literacy, storytelling, it's education at its finest using pop culture and there'll be a sting at the top of every DemreComicon episode, exclusive episodes that we put out that'll explain more about them and where to find them such as popculture.com, popcultureclassroom.org. I don't have that right in front of you, I'm sorry. So there's your little teaser for What's Gonna Be Coming Up and like I said we had a blast, we want to thank everyone, the staff at the Demre convention center was fantastic, the security, the volunteers, everyone in the organization, Margaret and Jason who were our points of contact for public relations and media, they were great, very informative and very accommodating. And that's it and I'll talk more about kind of my hotel room and what I did downtown on this week's episode of DAMM.
So if you want to kind of a weird little crossover episode that kind of fills in the personal blanks to the professional blanks that you'll get filled in when I start putting out the audio. So that's it from NerdVomit. Once again I have no sign off other than just making weird gagging noises which I said I wasn't gonna do last episode which I think I said I wouldn't do on the first episode so I'm not doing them now but I still don't have a sign off so enjoy the vomit.
