Yeah. And this is the first time really this movie has came up for discussion. Absolutely. Like, what's wrong with us?
Are we really nerds? Are we really movie fans? Do we actually like films? Oh, honestly, it blows my mind that we've not done this.
And when Paul suggested it, I was like, oh, we've not done this before. Because this is one of mine and my sister's favourite films. Who should have been here by the way, but it's not. Yeah, she'd have sent me back.
She fucking pied us off. Before we get started into the movie, that is a death of a composer. I do have the taglines and their tremendous, I'll do the Bora ones first. And from the director of Who Friend, Roger Reben and Back to the Future.
Right. Okay. And this one didn't know whether or not to say it from Gino. You'll be a black comedy.
That's why there's any of the black comedy. And now the two, the next two of the two interesting ones. Some people will go to any lengths to stay young forever. But Madeline Ashnan and her old friend, Helen Sharp, are about to go too far.
That's the one I remember. A old friend. That's a bit rich. And the last one is, once more bottle, the Fountain of Youth, the secret to the return of life, the power of an ancient portion.
Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. Yes. I remember the trailers for this movie when it first came out because it was like the voice over guy.
It was like in a world where Madeline Ashnan. Nothing from the trailer gets seen in the movie. The scenes. Yes.
I said, maybe the trailer generally completely forgot your own knife. Sorry. I don't even know if I should be on the night. I'm in so much pain.

Yeah. I kind of stopped for a second and went, I do have to write it on the visual effects, so tell me when we get to that part. Yeah. We only take the only time Goldie Horn got naked was in a while.

I absolutely adore it. Private Benjamin, all aboard. I love all of them. I haven't seen that film.
I haven't seen any of it. I don't want to. I respect Kurt Russell too much. He's my boy.
I don't want to look at his life that way. I get that. Well, there's actually what I was causing. Can you just say that?

When they're in the hospital, there is an interview on the television and it's Kurt Russell. All right. There's lots of interest in coming on as well, like shall we say, but we'll come to that when we talk about the movie a little bit. I want to get into when this movie was released because this came out in 1992.
I can remember this. Sami might be able to. I don't know what faves in Lee can because they're the youngsters. I don't know where B.V.
lies in the age range. I'm not too sure. I'm 700. Which is a highlander.
Could you take the file? That was probably Sesame Street. Right. So you're obviously my baby.
As long as you're alive, that's okay. It was a lot. The market for this movie did not portray what the movie was. It was very different.
The airport wrote this as a wacky, funny comedy, like laugh out loud comedy. When I, and again, I was not a nigga about last night. I do think this movie was very ahead of its time for humor for the effects side and like just the story time as well because the plot wise is all over the place. There's not really much of a story going ahead.
Yeah. And the jokes and everything like how dark this goes. I'm not sure it would have landed well in the 90s because they try to do it as like a, as a bit of a comedy. So I remember to comment the pictures.
Everyone was going power me as in the effects were, but no one was talking how good the film was and it kind of flopped a little bit on the initial release. It did all right in the box office and it made its money back, but it did. This movie is revolutionary. If you in this, I can't believe I'm actually saying this.
If you don't have this movie and all the tricks and the little things that they did and you don't have Jurassic Park, you literally don't have Jurassic Park because everything they used here was a tester for the CGI and all that special effects work we were going to do for Jurassic Park. This movie is revolutionary. The plot is crazy because the megas took it to a test audience and fucking hated it, but he's already done the trailer for it. So everything that was mentioned like from the trailer is just completely stripped out and this is why it's a big disjointed and you have the ending that you have because the test audience really kind of like handed him his ass and he just went shit.
It had to just completely mush it together again, but this film has been in my memory bank for as long as I can remember. I can't remember when I first watched it. Yeah. I can't remember.
I can't remember like before it. I was one of those films where I love movie trailers. I still do. I think trailers back in the 80s and 90s were better because it didn't give the whole plot.
It just gave certain aspects and it was a time where you got movie trailers out the pictures and on your VHS as well. So you remember when you used to have VHS used to have trailers on before the movie started. I think this was one of the ones that was advertised and I was like, oh, right. I need to say this movie.
It looks hilarious. It wasn't funny. Especially as a kid when you watch it. It's not funny.
No. No. I'm interested in all like faves when you first saw this movie, what was your kind of reaction to it? Yeah.
It was one of the ones my dad fed me as part of my we used to do like Friday night film nights. And I think this probably was one that came up because he loves Mel Shreeks. And I think also a DAWS Goldie Horne and has less respect than lead us for Kurt Russell when to do that. Like really loves Goldie Horne.
So I think I watched it as part of that. And I think it's like I think also revolutionary in terms of effects because it also is one of the first films to kind of do all those like flashy new technology stuff that isn't like a sci-fi and it isn't an action film. Yeah. And it's actually just a kind of like, it's almost like a kind of fast, deep, sick away as you knickers kind of vibe.
And no one had done special effects in films like that before. No. So I obviously like I knew Bruce Willis later at like Action Star Bruce Willis and 12 Monkeys Bruce Willis. So seeing him do comedy early in his career I was like, oh this guy actually has range.
I'll see our Agro with my mother love and moonstruck. Oh, I knew Bruce Willis is it. So this wasn't a shock for me. I can't talk.
My brain's gone absolutely much. Oh, that's it. I don't know if it was. No, it's me because moonstruck is sure which is my mum's favourite film moonlight.
Just go around it. Honestly, where's my brain going? Well, to be fair, you've got a lot on Blasher. You're recently converted to Death Becomes.
You've only seen it probably in the last week. Yeah, I think it was like two weeks ago I watched it but I knew of it from being about seven year old and I had a child minder in primary school and I used to go to it. It was just directly over the road from this sort of cool day every day when I finished and the daughter of the child minder was in my year itself and she watched this film and we were about seven and she wouldn't shut up about it for about two weeks and it was just one bit. She was impressed.
She would be like, oh, and then she'd tell me that. And then she'd tell me that. And then she'd tell me that. And then she'd tell me that.
And then she'd tell me that. And then she'd tell me that film was you bitch. And she kept thinking it was amazing that she called her a bitch and it was like, oh, my God, she says a swear word. And meanwhile, I'm like, I've seen like most of Arnie's back catalog.
That's my notes. I'm going to put a man then come back. Again, Andrea, a seven year old. So after watching it last week, how did you find the movie?
It's a movie that exists and. Oh, damned with fake praise. No, it's interesting because mainly have like similar tears, but when it comes to certain movies, like if he hasn't watched them, probably the nostalgia doesn't wear with Lee, like he hit the crew. Like that this is where Lee comes from.
He just calls it like, what was it? It goes to a dream. Yeah. Well, I can't even meet you more Lee.
Well, it becomes it. It's it's got a good story to it. And it's it's like unique as well, like nothing like that being done before, but it just lacks any. What's the word?
So right. All right. Okay. I said that the war was over before we started filming.
And now I take my mind. How dare you. It's interesting. That's why I wanted to take a thought.
I thought it would be a good idea to have Lee on as well, especially when he said he hadn't seen it. I was like, Oh, it's because this because this movie is quite an interesting one. And it's very much, I remember the good memories of watching it and experiencing not quite understanding it. Then watching it again.
And it's certain bits again. So kind of like what Lee watching it now. It's like you'll not get that aspect. He's just like watching it because at the time this was the first time, as I said, the married CGI would probably effects in a way that again, there's been films and movies that's been done.
But to use it, this was kind of like the first and it did it the best as well. Oh, that was the thing. Yeah. There's this.
Fair enough. There's certain aspects that CGI is a little bit dated. Well, the bits where you get my restraint changing, like from like the aging model and Ashton going back to hers as a girl. I know how they did that.
Is again, it's just a joy to watch and seeing her light up as well. Oh, like she was feared and like being down front and decide and then seeing the life combat intro and the way they did it with the effects was just mesmerizing. She was she was one of the dis movie. Yeah.
She hated doing it as well. Yeah. That's what I found out because she hated the board is the board didn't have great things to say about the the the workings around and what that. The door is in the one film.
I didn't get a and Oscar nomination, which is a travesty, but I do know how the deagent thing obviously is just makeup and very, very good makeup. But the boobs was inflatables that she had in the back of her top that they literally hoisted up. They can you give us a demonstration. Yeah.
They, they, they use for the first time ever human skin software. Right. So this is the first time that they ever use that technique. It was a poomernomic bra that was built to create the effect where my old streets rest become higher and firmer after drinking the portion, but the effect didn't look realistic enough so in order to get the shot.
Street stresses stood behind her outside the camera and push up rest in the position. So they literally just. Sometimes I don't know. Sometimes I don't know how to go needs allies.
Yeah. What do you do for a living on a middle street. Yeah. The guys behind the CGI and everything is industry like magic and who have obviously gone into done amaze and amaze and work and I have some little facts on the head twist.
Right. What's going on? The fact that I'm flexing now. Now, can I do it now?
I can tell you. I can see you can see your hands. I guess. I don't know.
We had not. You know what I'm like when I get something in there. All I want to do is get it out. We did what the crawl.
Just get out. Get out. All of you was just on the leash. I learned a new fact a couple of weeks ago and have to tell these all about it because it was just sitting in my brain.
But yeah, the other way. So it is the head twist. I'm doing first. Where's my head twist with that?
And it is a combination of. Sorry. It's a nice. It's a really combination of mirrors.
Her. Green screen. So and so I think there's three times in each sequence. So the mirrors were around her.
The green screen was over her and then she just does it as normal. And they could have done it with these magic blankets. That he was sure. Can you think of it?
It's very magic. Yeah. Yeah. At least that's been.
Oh my God. It's also one of the things that they did is when they're twisting her head. They had her on the chair. And basically what leaves just done.
And kind of did that. How it worked. Round our backwoods are her. When she's resetting her head.
You know, when she gets hit with the shovel and she's pulling, which I think is absolutely hilarious, especially when Helen's trying to have a proper conversation with her. And she keeps doing this pulling. I hate. And that's the combination of chroma key.
Yeah. And animatronic model. They use animatronics a lot in this. Some sequences that were taken out, but an animatronic model created by whoever a prosthetic makeup effect and to give the twisted head look.
But yeah, it's more animatronics than it is anything else. Really. It's like crazy that this was like ground brick and stuff and when was it in 1991? Yeah.
Yeah. Nobody else is doing this. But meanwhile in 2025 we've got some possibly mentally disabled. I was like, oh, I'm really talking about himself.
I've got really, I can't work on that. I was like, he's going to take off my custom. It's taking 40 years and it was Lee. It was Oli.
I have an additional fact to add to your head twisting fact, which is that Doug Cheyang, who was the special effects concept artist, head special effects concept artist for the film. This is one of the first films that used digital mockups. So he used photographs and early Photoshop to create the kind of proofs that he wanted for the special effects because he felt that he wasn't getting it quite right with pen and ink and traditional media. So it's like on every level, this film is kind of pushing the technology.
Yeah. I think this was one of the first movies when it did actually come out in DVDs where I was fascinated with the behind the scenes stuff, the making of stuff. When they did the press chumpets and the circuit, that's all the talk about was the popular effects, like the things that the show not like the how they did the gordy horn sitting on the chair with the shovel thing going through and the way the short how those films. To the side of the book.
Yeah, I still don't get it. It's to the side of our. Yeah, it is. And then they kind of grafted in don't there.
Yeah. It's so well done. It's so brilliant, especially for the time as well. And the animatronic head that they used for her neck thing, they also used an animatronic puppet for her head for the resurrection.
But his audiences were really freaked out by it. Yeah. And value. Yeah, it was it was terrible.
So they were like, they just ended up using CGI in the end. And I was trying to figure out what resurrection scene was the referring to. Because when she fell down the stairs. So that one right.
That one right. All I kept thinking of is the one where she's in the body bag and I was like, I was like, kind of looking really like, well, she just looked a bit ways. So she's in a body bag, but she could have just gotten a body bag. So me and they kind of a little bit of argument about this last night.
So, okay, safe, safe, safe use. Like got the same thing. Because when they decided that the body was starting to go career or fall apart and stuff, they needed stuff to be put together. What was their body then decomposing from the accidents or the deaths that they had, or was their body dying from the moment they took the drink from the bottle.
Because my impression was as soon as they took the drink, they were dead. They were zombie, basically living zombies. And isabella Rosalini's character system, you've got to maintain and upkeep your body to hide to get to great. So that was my impression.
But then it was like, everything started to decomple everything from them kind of like, I haven't been shot in the stomach. Malin being pushed down the stairs. The eyes changed. They went from the colours that were.
They went from white. The skin started to go grey. Like, I know with the Goli Horns character, there was blood that came out, but then there was no blood anywhere else. I don't think they could have done too much blood.
This would have been a hard year. I think they went for any further blood, I think. But what were your guys' takes on that? Because I thought they were decomposing or had a look after it from the drink.
Always had just worked normally and then they died. And then they couldn't die, probably, if that makes sense. Yeah, you did not have any of those. See, I think that they die from the accidents.
And Isabella Rosalini's warning is if you don't look after your body, you're going to end up jacked up. Because if you die, you can't actually die. So I look at it along the lines of the kind of vampires who can't regenerate kind of law. We have proof.
Well, there's all the celebrities like Elvis and the body. He is decomposing. Yeah. Yeah.
The people, I've actually got a list of the people who was at the party. Elvis has been there for 20 years, like when he died, like 70 years or something like that. Andy Warhol was there at Marilyn Monroe, greeted Jago because obviously she does the line of, I want to be alone. And Elvis, Jim Morrison and James Dean, which I think is Fran Go.
Yeah. No, I can't. No, it wasn't Fran Go. It wasn't because Fran Go didn't play him in another film, didn't he?
Yes. Well, at least I got that part right. Yeah. I grew a baby.
And I think that they are very much alive until they are not. They just cannot die. Yeah. All right.
So Nick will not argue. I like that theory though. I do like the theory of this. I was going to say that I don't know why my brain has just decided not to work tonight on all episodes.
Absolutely. It's full of me because it's salicy. Oh, yes, that was it. The additional character who was meant to be in this film.
Oh, the farmer, Tracey Ullman, who would race, he got completely ugly, acts. She's in the trailer. Yeah, we saw the trailer. Yes.
You saw in Sandin talking with Helen and Madeline at one point. She also was the one you would see by Bruce Willis pulls her out in the fridge. Yeah. Yeah.
It's Tracy who finds her. Right. Okay. Because he shoves her in the fridge when they come back from the mall.
And it's Tracy who finds her. Yeah. Blurstracy Ullman audiences did not react very well to her and she got asked completely. Interesting.
I don't think it needed more character. I liked the simplicity of the characters that we had and how that kind of played between it. And all me and Phoebe need to go into an argument before we went like because she was not too strong female leads, which I agree with. But I don't think that and this is going to sound really hard because I love Goldie Hone and metal shape is a force me to bring with Bruce Willis steals the show.
I'm sorry, Bruce Willis is absolutely unbelievable in this movie. Like for everything he does, how he acts, how he reactions. I think I thought you. Yeah.
I was like, I didn't see this as a blue Bruce Willis movie. I also was a metal straightaway called the movie. He has been totally underrated in this movie from, I don't know if it's like just my perspective, but he is brilliant. I've.
That's the only way I could describe. I was so surprised after watching again, like how funny Bruce was, how his reactions were very funny. He's hilarious in it. He wasn't the studio's first choice.
I've never found any alternative castings for these two. So I am guessing these are the two that they had in mind. But I do have somewhere and Kevin Klein. Kevin Klein was one of them.
I can't go to the lawn. I think Jeff Bridges would have been as funny. It would have been very mead back, I think. I think it would have been too late back.
I don't know if you see the fishy king where he plays that very angry shock jockey. I think he could have done in these early days. I think it's weird having like Bruce Willis as this kind of character. Even just the name Ernest Melville.
That doesn't fit. That was so weak. I had the opposite of the impact of watching it. This guy is getting everything he deserves and maybe like more.
It's a way too lightly. This is one of the reasons why I said it's got no soul because nobody, I didn't root for anybody in this movie. Everybody has a dick. It's a bit of a little bit less about his.
Let her live forever. How beautiful she loved in this movie. I've got the last person who was mentally earnest. I don't know how this would have went down.
Nick Naughty. No. I've no made the right choice. I think I've cast somebody as someone like Ernest Melville who's just like Guy with glasses and a strange mustache and the name like Ernest Melville.
I would have cast someone like Wayne Salinsky. I can't remember what his name is now. The keymaster. Oh, I don't know what's wrong with my brain because I can't think of it either.
And what was wrong with the job of Mortician? What was wrong with that job? It completely recession-proof. He's always going to have work.
But yeah, that's as the story is and stepped down from his plastic surgery. He was a world-renowned plastic surgeon. It was kind of like the top of the thing. It was a name for like, because they actually see it as well.
Madeleine didn't pay for that house. He paid for that house with his work. Yeah. Rick Moranis was the name that he was trying to get there.
I don't know. Why Chris was saying Michael Sarah? No. Chris, don't.
I'm someone who could be alternative casting for the Bruce that was it. That was it. I didn't realize when they were talking about the whole week, because I had the lady Gaga and her father, honestly, if she was, I'd put my head through the screen. I really would have a splat bludged.
But I didn't realize that the whole big thing that the whole refer to was the musical. Yeah. Yeah. So I'm happy.
I think it's okay. And apparently the falling down the stairs scene is spectacular. I haven't seen it because they're keeping it under wraps. But when I read the reviews for the stage show, apparently that whole sequence is just extraordinary.
I think I'm going to have a comment in London that I will be traveling down the stairs. Absolutely. Absolutely. Remake to this film.
I want a side plot. I'm not too bothered about this film itself, but I want a side plot in a remake where the cast Paul Rudd and have it so that he has drank the portion and he's spent more than 10 years. Yeah. They're trying to knock him down.
Yeah. Just have like just cutting away. People trying to kidnap them and he just always somehow accidentally avoids the kidnapping. But I think that's great.
I know they laid this up. I'm going to bring it up now because we're discussing it. I do think if they were going to remake this movie, I don't think a movie would work as well as this one. I think a TV show would be quite interesting.
Oh, well. Maybe not like a 12 episode or like a six episode. Like you could go into the carotas a bit more like a mini series. Well, you see that it was actually brought up in 2009 about doing an TV show based on this.
Nobody wanted it. Nobody actually wanted it. The crazy fucking idiot. Would you?
Yeah. Like I said, I don't feel like this film had enough soul. Like why are Madeline and not? Helen?
Yeah. Why are they friends? Like there's nothing to build on that for like them to have like a connection that just seem to be mixed with each other all the time. You would leave school and never speak to her ever again.

like say the mansion with Ili's about a Rossavini like everything just felt like it was a lavish Hollywood but like you were expecting a monster to come out you didn't know that the monsters were actually going to be like say a muddling and Helen like apart but you kind of got with Helen when you got like say Goldie Horne going full career career and going into the mental hormones and when she's just keep watching the video tape of Madeleine being strangled like I imagine that's gonna be like laying a few years by watching Phoebe going into the smiling and trying to get a rest if you just get evicted I don't know but the smell I could smell came from the telly that was I could be sad I was good I was like I was gonna say something that Paul mentioned about the mansion right that mansion is quite famous it's the Greystone Mansion which it's not the front that you usually see in other things but it's like the courtyard sort of the interior which is it's X-Men it's their Zevia's Mansion of the Queen Batman and Robin right and Ghostbusters 2 Spider-Man 1 2 and 3 plus 100 what it's a really famous mansion apparently I think they made it in miniature for the film and I love them on and off for their approaching in the storm seems interesting sort of kind of like back to the future style and like the models and stuff like that even I don't know I was a megastin I was like the old kids or the weird kids kind of got access to making movies and the kind of gun stories like I felt like the 80s was a lot of like risks when it comes to movies where the 90s was just going like a bit the dark side people weren't like really bothered about lighting fluffy and stuff like that where they were kind of making things that weren't kind of on the same beaten track like nothing was all getting pulled in via ultra colorful like when you look at this movie and you see the advertising campaign as I mentioned before this was advertised as kind of like a straight up da da da comedy but even the tones in this movie like the colors they use are very sparingly but they're using very like see a great effect like as Fabius Demisvedon like Goldie Horns Red dress is as amirs and it stands out Isabela Rosalini's like say the outfit she wears is like yes and it's just like a bodyhole is it not so it's body double yeah she didn't want to right she wanted to do it she was absolutely fine with doing it it was a mecca's idea you wanted to use a body double so it's not it's a film yeah a film build it out and I was recognized the name but I don't know where from I can't picture her face but I can picture her body and we just have a moment though for Joanna Johnston who's the costume designer oh my god the choice that she made with this and the palette as well as she used and very and there are touches of the 80s with some of the power dressing yeah and but I think also like very 50s and 60s kind of sexual shift ons and oh oh it was they used apart from what we're looking at right now Helen only wears once but the rest of the time her palette is red and black yeah and Madeline's is black and red or my she has that purple purple jumpsuit type thing yeah because they both have like their own individual palette yeah that they use it the same all the way through but Helen only wears the white once and that's when she thinks Madeline's dead yeah and yeah I love that I love the palette aesthetic of this and I was saying at the beginning I when I first put this on last night and you saw the um the skyscrapers I couldn't picture or police where this was in time until I read the Wikipedia and it told me that it's 1870 years so the costumes in it and the weird earnest dresses as well yeah I thought it was earlier yeah I thought it was very earlier yeah and I think it's because it's very classic it's almost like classic old Hollywood kind of styling yeah and I think partly because Joanna Johnston went on to do so she did like who framed Rogers Rabbit as an from like the hell-intensive and unbreakable, which you can such a huge but a lot of those films do have that kind of timeless energy to them oh yeah well they you got hell raiser with all the lyrics and then you've got BDSM, Fact of the Sea Time, yeah, and then it's just the first way which I feel like is a much costume anyway isn't it? It's just one I remember is just Tom Hansel's short on it's basically that was pretty easy he definitely fucked Wilson didn't they yeah I knew I would start looking for him I don't know my good Wilson isn't he? morgue which was to identify the body of a priest some fans of theoriser the crying and florin and shawing in the film symbolises that Madeline has downed herself to fear worse than death after drinking Lacell's portion and then getting herself killed due to her carelessness and cruelty despite being legally dead Madeline saw this forever trapped inside of her decaying body and she'll never be able to properly pass on it was even speculated that the Nuns were possibly heard or possibly heard Madeline screams in the morgue and were so shaken that they promptly left and cried furthermore when Ernest finds Madeline in one of the body compartments she teefully tells him that she was screaming that no one came to help her and nobody came and this shows that there is no hope for her and for that matter Helen since their what Helen's Helen since their souls are particularly trapped in decrepit shells forever that last line did not make any sense this shows that there is no hope for her and for that matter Helen should be a calmer since their souls are particularly trapped in decrepit shells forever when I initially saw the Nuns I just went what the fuck I think was like trying to give the horror film vibes that was the thing yeah I was like is this something that you normally see in a hospital just floating on the school and around I don't particularly spend a lot of time in this film so I was probably saying this person hasn't got health insurance so they're going to die get the Nuns just don't know that was so interesting because again it was a question that marked on the movie for me as to why these Nuns were actually here and the fact that fans have gone into such deep thought about it yeah do you want to American hospitals and stuff have like a church element to it as well we've got the new one in England I don't have any one hospitals I've come to England occasionally and you know when you go into the if you go into the main hospital not in either side it's the chuckles on the right hand side usually non-denominational now though yes there's nothing be fair it's it's just a place for you to do whatever pre-end or whoever you are pre-end to in there's not really any religious symbols in there not now anywhere there was a few bits in this movie that like watching the back now you can tell it's very much of its time and I start pissing me so laughing like the bodyguards can we just talk about as well oh yeah Fabio and his friends like if you're gonna be in a mortal being why or would you have them dressed like this is the choice I'm gonna make for eternity if I look like that if I had that body like Fabio would dress like that all the time that's going to be on this podcast yeah you have got that buddy why don't you show it off now not wants to keep it in the comedy space so he designed a lot of the special effects to be like cartoony the same with like metal shrieps head-twisting you don't see bones popping out or anything like that you just you just see like the skin being stretched but she does have it she does you can't see it but it's what the doctor sees in the hospital is the born sticking out of her neck because that's what sends him into a heart attack apparently he's like a really famous comedian who just come out of retirement to do this this role I didn't catch his name and I didn't recognize his face was it a silly polyposite yeah you come out of retirement for a didn't he just like hell bowed it was just I thought that gag was brilliant though like like all the jokes and all the things like the humour is like watching it now it's like yeah and the doctors like kind of breaking out is like going on the step and stop checking if it's right and then yeah yeah it's shocked then it goes out then he's saying thing it was like the time and everything was just I thought that was one of the best things in there as well yeah I like that especially that you just think has to leave because he ends up having a heart attack and I hate I hate Bruce's dialogue after this it's probably the only one that makes me cringe a little bit where he says you're um what was it on you're a natural basically right and it just the way that he sees it and he repeats himself and I'm like oh stop you sound unnatural Bruce yeah have a word you read you read me just I just I just didn't let it hit some of his dialogue I didn't quite like but that's just personal tears I love kind of like the two part ending we get as well um the bit where it goes to go full hammer horror when he's climbed across the rooftop to try and escape like from these monsters that he's basically been a part of career as well yeah it's why didn't he just get the firewalls and jump over the side and swing down through one of the windows like I dig did an episode of Marvel because maybe he wanted us like he wasn't an action star at this point was he doing that kind of thing yeah yeah well maybe he wanted to like say I don't want to do die hard anymore I want to be the pathetic earnest who's gonna like climb all over the place and I'm just mad at him what do you think he would like with Bruce Willis with all his ideas like I've got an idea why don't I choose the firewalls the dr and the other stuff go you know what Bruce if you use this idea and maybe before we'll go through something different maybe he's like running out of money if you spent it all on Goldie's hold so at least he didn't van down the movie and like try and take over completely so we've got to be grateful for that and I do hold on then I was gonna say about the end and we got with I mean the church where the kind of like keep on like think oh I found the secret to eternal youth and the kind of stop but then you get to the top of the stairs and you just pull the veals up and you see the kind of green art and how they're being kick and lift the paint on and it's turned into almost like just just like plastic yeah it's very given of the time and like plastic surgery was like really coming up and a lot of women were changing their appearances and hiding their age and it is a it is a you know stories all the time when it comes to women and you know about it I do have the original ending and how it was meant to end and actually fits in line with them not not the way that it ended it's the picture right that I use at the end so the original ending involves Tony who was Tracy Ulman and she helped earners fake his own death to get away from Madeleine and Helen the end the two end up running away to Europe to start a new life together many years later Madeleine and Helen were cracked peeling and put in cover to cover they grew up in the rotten flesh and they're on an invocation in Switzerland Bored and miserable they notice an affectionate elderly couple and they become envious as the couple gets into a car and drives away and Madeleine and Helen realises it earnest and tawny and she is after them all need to be hit by the by an on common car and breaking to faces it's similar to how they end up their fate ends up and then that one the picture that they used is the picture from when they see him in Switzerland right you know how he's got the hat on and everything but obviously because tawny gets completely wiped out with this film they near me's wife Claire and you just get he's back story of you know for 50 years he kind of was this saint of a person i don't think that actually ever had a full ending planned and they were just trying to wing it basically not seriously i'm not just hitting the pace apparently there was also going to be a thing where he fell down into the pool and then saw the vial floating and he picks it up and runs out with that so when he gets out of the pool and runs away there's still in the film apparently he's holding it as he runs out the whole past James Morrison all right interesting so he's kind of i haven't got a check that but apparently he's still got the violin he's had yeah one of the one of the one of the deleted scenes is where Madeleine is in the fridge and it's a roars her housekeeper goes to go and see her and she just goes to the door and it just freaks out yeah roars just disappears in this movie after you've like the initial saver as well the texture like she was like a mother figure to her yeah oh madam you look so wonderful today you look even younger today than you did yesterday say the line so the question i want to ask is now if you use how the choice because as you said as Sami saw well put this is a movie about contrast to the likes of julia and julia which i absolutely adore or even this marbles got ryange i choose marbles i said you know what you're in crema versus crema you don't like it very much enough you don't especially if you can get me on the side of just just an offman there's something wrong yeah but i was and i think this is part so this is where i went into like the deep deep marbles dreep and goldy horn acting training thing because marbles dreep is like famously rebuffs all kind of like formal acting training so she went to the Yale school of drama hated every second of it and said like really what you have to do is connect emotionally with a character so she spends all of her prep work just trying to figure out like how can i fall in love with this character because if i can then like be honest with the character that's how i access it and i think that's what gives her the range i also think that's why she hated the special effects because that is a very like distancing process like it's very like in the head rather than the heart yeah there's a complete disconnect between what there's more to it than just the actual being the person being the character it's then having to have like ordinations to then be this character so i can totally understand that they don't want this this film by any stretch in the case of this is the worst thing they just when these are two actresses who are working with the spec specialist and actually goldy horn also doesn't have formal acting training so she's a dancer by background yeah which i thought was funny because you get to see maryll like shake her thing at the beginning and i was like oh maryll can dance too that's all sequins at the beginning is one of my it's my favorite orp nene in a movie it gives me like diamonds they're a girl's best friend energy if you heard the lyrics to the song color analysis color also it's actually a really cruel song about this it's the what the menacing and about it's horrible well so good but again i see her a little slatty otherwise Lee's not exactly but again even that scene right there when the people are leaving the cinema well leaving the theatre you can't place that in 1878 i'm looking at like the 50s 60s at that point the men with the hats and i was just about to say because everyone's wearing a hat yeah i think that's why i think that's the thing for the 70s i think that's why i think that's why i think it's the same in the 19s really but i think that's why people were leaving because it was very dated it was very old fashioned it was not like modern shall we say but again that's probably the state but if you're going to choose the red head over the blonde that's just simple that's a sight sign that i can have black now i'd like to go out little bit at the top of the top so out of five what would you rate this movie out of five so i'm going to go with the debut at terms faves what you're giving this out of five i am giving it a four out of five a lot of new technology was created i think a lot of other films oh it is like high recognition i do agree like as much as it pains me i agree with Lee there are some like big holes in and just in goldie horn um or in the or in goldie lee over there oh and you're calling any phrase has been caught but also like it's fun like watching Bruce Willis goldie horn in metal sheep just kind of like crack like crack punch lines i can watch that for ages without any plot so yeah four out of five for me me cool um it's only half a film so i'm going to have to just go halfway in go with three whoa as lee not giving a movie a five to everybody three don't need one four and then you have to do a five so the structure's there but it just it needed more to it okay i get that because as a whole when you watch the movie it has great elements but it doesn't feel like a complete movie at times it feels like it's like it's certain things that's probably missing but as sammy said that's probably stuff that's on uh the equipment currently i know quite literally so sammy what are you giving it i'm gonna have to give it a five and mine is through the special effects makeup costume aesthetic and the nostalgia this is like i said it's one of my sister's favorite films we have you know an idea of a match and tattoo together it's all based around death becomes a they are actually my screensaver on my pc that i used to record i have helen and maddling as my it's actually this picture just a little bit better i think it's on the star and it's um earnest you know and the one please that one um yeah so for the style of reasons and for everything else i said i need to give it a five so i'm gonna agree with themes i would probably say this is a four it's not a perfect movie it's got as i said it was very head of its time it changed how we made movies it was one of the first and one of the one of the films that's up there where it blends cgi and practical effects well to the point where the cgi isn't it if they probably made this film now they would just probably scrap the practical and do it all cgi which probably would lose a bit of the the magic um again i love goldy horn i love bruce well listen again mel's creep not my favorite actress but she is great in this movie um everyone is kind of like on the game and it's just a fun weird movie it's not the straightforward like kind of telling the story that you would normally get it doesn't go the roots that you expect and it's kind of that for that that's why i'm actually always a little bit grateful and quite kind of like it's about this i would have liked a more complete story if that makes sense or whatever i thought i would never take away from the fact that this movie isn't you know it's not without its flaws it's just i'm not going to see them and i don't particularly want to see that like i'm happy with where i am with it but this is this is the movie that is the perfect example of practical and cgi working together yeah i can't act hard i'm in the end and i would argue where the soul comes in that's where you see it slowly oh bless um so oh sammy what's coming up tomorrow tomorrow in the mountains of
