So before we talk about courses, they were a little bit that makes it there's a lot of positives. There's a lot of good things about courses too that we both kind of appreciate. So I let Sam get a disclaimer out the way. So I'm also.
I can't remember what I see now. Everything this was in today's episode is our opinions and our opinions. A lot of you would like to discuss anything from today's episode. And specially about course, because we know how much Sam loves this for these movies. So so much like this one is like for me and I don't know if anyone else will have the same opinion is up there with the first one. I just see it as like it's a continuation. It's pretty much the same movie.
It is. I love it just as much as I do with this one. That's what I'm trying to say. Definitely.
It's one that one I think it gets overlooked a lot because the first one is like said, the quintessential classic and it came out of nowhere that no one was expecting. So when actually did do the sequel, I think this came out the same time as Back to the Future 2. We got future here. I know if this was 1989.
It was. I'm almost sure I saw this at the cinema because I remember queuing up for course was to do and on the opposite side of the old empire, like say the old ABC in town where you used to have only had two screens. So he was only short two films each weekend. Yeah.
So I used to show the movie poster of what film was on. So I was going for course was the side. I'm sure it was back to the future. The opposite side.
Do you know what was sitting here trying against and I actually have people and back to the future. Just the best one. And it was it was 1985. Well, that was that was back to future one.

So I'm going to do some work at the house and he's still not sure. But never mind. I would get to talk about course was to do today is not being a complete and utter feel. I know I'm still recovering after like the massive long stream that happened to like the weekend gone.
That was completely warming down and warming out. But yes, this is going to be an interesting one because we have done zero preparation. Literally have a little put this together. Design wise, never in the last 15 minutes.
So cool. It has the ton on that. Now, the fact that you've reused the the I don't know what they are. The frame the Gothic frame.
So because now we are kind of officially starting the spooky season. So I know we've been doing on the cusp of a few little little things like said there. But I think Sunday's podcast where we reviewing the news and hope is in line with next week's release of August 2 was the meant to be like the official official. But I think we started last year with course was this.

I can review that one. And where do we start with was to do we just dive right into the movie itself? And what do you remember most of childhood when it comes to course was to because to me it was the Martin campaign because course was one didn't really have much Martin and it literally came on the pages and everyone was like, what the fuck is this? It's amazing.
Well, this kind of took your expectations were high, especially like say with the original cast coming back and with everything on board and the Martin was like, say one of the biggest things about it because I remember going to Burger King and you're getting free cans, what you thought were cans of pop, but there were cans of ghosts. I can't remember what they were called. But you still open the cans and smoke was meant to come out. Oh my God.
Yeah. So there's still people out there with all the cans that's got these like little bits of smoke and stuff. Probably isn't there anymore. It's probably dissolved or disappeared.
I'm never gonna find out because they're not you, not evens. Seriously, open one just to see. I did open quite a few. That's it because I just to bring them in when he finished work, he used to say, I've got these things.
I was stupid as a kid. I was always disappointed that I had no problem. That's what you just wanted. But as an adult now, you're like, Oh, I wish I had that.
But yeah, I think this is one where the toy range went absolutely fine. This is where I generally think my lover was supposed to start from. I really do. Because of the toy started to come out the 89 years ago, the system was born, which was born in January, 89.
So like my husband being taken over like babies. So I think this is where I'm like, because I can't remember on an actual copy of the first one. I've only ever remember on how long video to tip it from the telly. But my first memory of having the proper copy was one and two.
And obviously the toys. So I think I was like a course was to spend like the 90s onwards has to remain because that's like if that's where the toys started really hit, that's where my love came into it was from then. And as I said, with everything that came out, like that even from course was one, they realized the hat swing with the look and the logo and everything and stuff, and that's where they hit on my seat with the course with the two fingers and stuff like that kind of kind of brought in the element. And this is the one where this was phenomenal.
As I said, I think back in the day, it wasn't as much of a hit as the republic's expecting because like it was a tall actor follow. But when you watch it now, this is what probably is more of the scarier one in the franchise. Yeah, we go. It was terrifying.
Even then what is him? Little one. Oh, come on. Now we go to here.
Yeah. Amen. I like McPale. Yes.
Oh my gosh. This is why this is why I got it up for because I didn't want to be getting it. You're not Janos. Janos, that's it.
Yes. And like I said, the elements in this one, I was, as I said, I was I've said this many times before you take the jokes out of course, there's you've got a pretty scary horror phone, but with the cast and with the people who involved, it was always going to be like a comedy, especially the first one. But this one went hard with the horror element, the hard with the likes of the ghosts and went for like, say, both Marshall and I was a bad guy. Like, maybe so, but it wasn't really going to be fair in it.
But this haunted painting, like, say, the elements that they brought into it when things like really got possessed and stuff. But I know which will go down. Like, even the first point, like almost like sacrificing a baby in the movie as well. It's like, can't happen children and sacrificing.
Oh, yeah. Like, as a child, do you really understand all that? Like, no, but as a child, you just, you took a kid. Like, all right.
But it's, I don't be like, Oh my God, there's so many problems with us. A lot of the alternate, like, if we want to get into it, like, I say, the opening when Dina's putting, or is it Oscar? I got to be a very unfortunate little baby. Putting them in the bath and then the bath tries to fucking eat them.
No, that's not then. So the opening scene is when Dina is walking with the cookie and the ooze comes from around and it hits the wheel and that boogie just goes off. Yes, sorry. Let me go on.
We didn't watch this today. Everyone's going to have to forgive us if there's bits and pieces like we jump back and forth to. But yeah, that's the opening scene is where she and then she runs after like the fucking warrior that she is. Like she was battling some get the earlier monster.
I don't think it's a funny way. But don't you notice in that scene, nobody helps her. No, nobody goes and stops that baby. Push it.
I keep on in the car because they hold it a car, but it was it's a push chair. It's a it's a pram. Yes. That's it.
It's a pram. And it's too fair to New York. They don't give a fuck once. It's not like their business type.
No, it's not happening to me. I'm not interested, but nobody's. I think someone goes and jumps and runs and misses and it's like one of those comedy time where you're like, Oh, but yeah, nobody goes to stop that car. Pooh, baby.
Yes. And when that happens as well, then you find out the sad truth what's happened to the Ghostbusters when Rhea and Winston turn about a kid's party as children's entertainment and no one that's popular as the world. Like these are the guys that see the world. Yeah.
New York City. They are heroes because apparently in movies, New York needs to be saved quite a lot. Yeah, they go to the party. That is also the guest.
Oh, yeah, like I'm talking to the guests there is none of the than Jason Reiman. Yeah. It's not a little breath that he is. And the infamous chant as well as I say, so you want to call it's their faces where they got in the town.
Oh, good. But they leave that party. We party hats on and money in hand and a smile on their face. They have it turned it around.
You don't see it, but I'm telling you, they turned that party around. They got the mombaud. But yeah, Jason Reiman, it's not a little get that he was who questioned the Ghostbusters and then goes on to direct one of the greatest sequels, one of the greatest movies I've seen in a long time. Certainly.
But what is sister there as well? His sister is the girl in the in egon's when he gets the egon to move from them and egon's doing it goes to see him and she's with the puppy. Yes. That's his sister.
And if any of you are always funny bands, she's also a dentist is crazy. Why? It turns herself into a cat. Yes.
But yeah, that's his sister as well. But then to be moved straight on to egon from that was the in the board to say him? Yeah, because he doesn't want anything to do with Peter. Does she?
Because we get the kind of does like the flashes through like where they are and what they're what's all come through. And you get like Peter, of course, being a sleazy TV host. Like community words like his ego is just it can't be content. And what was it saying there?
Because there was two people. One thing that was going to the world was going to end in 2020 and it was really fun. Wasn't it? Yeah.
Oh gosh, what year was it? 20. Oh, she wasn't long ago as well. It wasn't because two massive ghostbusters fan got engaged on that day.
And I can't think it was like 2016 or something. Right. But it was Valentine's Day. And also the lady who was sitting there who did that was the amazing Chloe Web who is Nancy in Sin, Nancy and also in Practical Magic.
She's such a normal actress. I'm just laughing at Lee's comment as well that he's just put in that they're putting on packs to her kids party. Well, these kids get out really just across the stream. That's probably why they left in a good mood for.
Yeah, these are things that we don't look at as children. We could question as adults. That could be the part. What do you want us to blow up kids?
But this has been because since the first one there's not been a ghost sighting since it happened. That's correct. Like all of a sudden everything kind of died down. That's when like I say that became a kind of a joke to them starting all to their hooks this and that was always a feeling behind it.
I think that they weren't ever taken seriously for what they did. And as we know, they came and they kicked some ass. They always do. Yes, but I was always that little bit because I know like I brought back in the next year that the new one by all of the same like when it comes on call it fate.
Call it luck. Carla, I believe in everything happens for a reason. It's one of the best scenes in things in a movie. Like they're when it comes back to ghost buses.
It gives you goosebumps all the way through. It's not my favorite course. It's my favorite course. I was from Winston.
That's from the best one. I have seen shit that'll turn you what. It's my favorite course. And so once they've met up with each other.
So once we've established where everyone is, Bill Maris O'Neill is paranormal program, which is just ideal for him. Dana is going to see hell from Egon. And Egon is obviously still in contact with Ray because the next one is then going is that in Ray's shop. Yeah.
Ray is a cult. Oh gosh, I was a cult. Is it just Ray's a cult? I know it's something I know Martin posted about it earlier.
They're cultists actually. I can't remember the name now because it was in this. It was in there in afterlife and it was in the game as well, I believe the name of the shop, but it's readily gone from your mind now. But yeah, so that's what, and Vankman walked in.
Vankman is, is and Egon is trying to be all sketchy and not basically giving any information and just kind of blanking them. But Ray being the nice guy and unable to lie and unable to talk to torture. And apparently has no pain thresholds. Yes.
It does get bullied a lot who are who are. But like I said, Danny, Dan Aykroyd is just absolutely phenomenal in this movie. I think what I like about this one a little bit better than the original. Everyone gets the time to shine.
Yes, it's not the very film. It's not the very show. Absolutely 100% agree with you. Because you get a lot more of Winston in this and like I love Winston and I felt like he was pretty doing hard on the first one because he was a, as we know now, he wasn't meant to be there.
Like it's not that wasn't raw for him. He's kind of like a secondary thought. But in this one, I felt like we're making up for that and it definitely made up for it in afterlife. Definitely.
And I can say with this as well, I just looked it up. It's really called books. Never question this answer. I'm sure it was right.
Oh, I was right. I missed the books. I knew I could always answer these calls. That's great.
So yeah, even like the side characters like Louis Tully and Janine have like great chemistry and great parts in this as well where they're not like say like after thought or just things that's being tacked on. But I'd rather than jump into the elements. But even like Dana, like the only way is not just like say Bill Murray side piece in this one as well. Yeah, she's everyone.
She's our own person. And she's and she believes as well because she lived through it. And but what a one eighty on the character of Janine from the first one to the second one. Yes.
Like complete one eighty turn. And there's no explanation for it. She's gone from absolutely ador and where like grandma cardigans and big ass glasses and then being this absolute vixen with that bright orange hair. Yep.
Like say redheads always makes it had problems for me. So I mean, it's any pause. I'm not going to argue with anything that any postos but I just thought what a choice. But not a choice that I was like, I didn't care.
Like that she did me in that transition with Janine because it was fun. But it did matter that my now my action figures did not match. Because Janine had brown hair as my action figures. And the carbon except the sort of red end of the car.
I don't know as well as a trip. Oh, probably. That's probably where it's come from. I don't know.
Maybe Annie just wasn't feeling it and wanted to change it up. And that's probably the side. I think so. Of course.

Dina tries to shut the door and then kind of slimes his weird. And just acts and acts basically the bill. Murray type gortz, like, Been old, slimy and trying to be all flighty and stuff like that. But, Dina's not having none of his bullshit this time and putting in his place as I'm I think the reference the ball and she gets used at this point as well.
Yeah. So this kind of reference to how their relationship was going, she obviously wanted more and he couldn't commit to it. the spark, the light is still there. Like from the second they are with each other.
It's not something that builds, it's just there instantly. And they act like no time has passed between the two of them. And I love that. Well, back into the same rules and same, I was going to say in positions, but I haven't been to the other one, but...
And the way he is with the baby is very nice. Because some men couldn't like really hacked off with that. She didn't just move on, she moved on, got in her baby. Yeah, but that's, I think that's what kind of drew is why I liked Vengmin more in this one.
Because again, like I said, he's always been going to be that like can't he type for, like the side act, the person who's like pulling the first one. But this one, he kind of showed a little bit of a side especially with the little one, like when he's calling them Oscar and saying, I'm named after a hot dog and stuff like that. Oh, you're poor man. But I'm kind of like, they've just bonded with him.
And even when they go to the apartment and stuff like that, they are like, there's something like a connection with all three. And it's almost like the regrets is probably still there and stuff like that. And it's said, comes through quite evidently as well. Especially in the scene, I don't know if it's in the scene on the other arm where he says, I could have been your dad.
Yeah. Like, oh, but you're not. Yes. So I think because in the first one, she was an all the list.
Oh, yeah, let's just tell them into the career of Deanna Barris because it's very sketchy because she clears the cello, which is celloist in August 1 in the first one. And then all of a sudden she's now an art career. Art career or something like that? I think it's a career.
Michaela's an art career. Right. That is not what she does. She was cleaning up art.
Is that a restore or something like that? Yeah, it's a restoration. Restoration, that's the word. Yes.
And because this is where the start going to investigate. So they investigate the kid, they investigate the house and everything seems fine. The go to the street where the caribbean exit, the buggy goes like on a walkabout and the little key elements of slime. And they start digging the street of them.
Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. It does not happen a bit later after because they see something. No, they're starting in the street as soon as they see the sign and start digging the street up.
No, because that's when Vankman and I think he's on a date, isn't it? No, no. The street is already dug up, so they dig the start in the hall. Right.
Okay. They go back in there later on. But before that gets to that bit, I was still in Dina's apartment, one of the most. And I didn't know this until I watched a documentary on Ghostbusters fans.
But the scene where Egon is talking about having a slinky. Right. And he said I had part of a slinky but I straightened it. Dean is daughter.
I didn't leave that documentary and she said the amount of slinkies he got sent to him was ridiculous. She said because it always was like a lost childhood. Right. Because he straightened the slinky.
Like everyone had to say, I had a slinky. And I did not. I did not know yet, but I didn't straighten it. And then someone sent them a golden one, which she has cast.
All right. And she has on display. And I just thought that was so lovely. And so it's something that I did.
And I never put together the seven things that Ghostbusters fans pick up. And they really latch on to it. Like the most loving way, the slinkies, one of them. And the crunch bar.
That's from in the pocket of Bill Mary of Pete in the first one. I was like, I can never remember. But yeah, I love the fact that they hold on to like those little moments. That's what makes things special for them is a little bit.
So yeah, I just wanted to mention that because it's stuck out. He's got a boot out about the life of a father. It is a bit of a tiny bit expensive, but apparently very, very much worth the rate. Oh, cool.
Exactly. But yes. So, you know, so to start the exhibition. So to start the street, yeah.
So to start digging the street up, and this is where, because Ray is not even digging the street up while then she would get coffee. And he's like, I'm digging the street up by myself. But he's kicking right off. And then the police come by and Bill Mary as or Pete Venkman, sorry, as he does.
Bullshit, he's way out of it to say that he's there to do a job. Leave me to do my job. And that's when they convince Ray to go down the hall. Right.
And Ray is stupidly done. So he's got to go down there. Yep. Somebody's got to go down there.
But while Ray is down there, and he's going down and he goes into a chamber, which is our picture, background picture, where he sees a tunnel that has, it's an ultra-intact tunnel, and he sees a river of slime. And while he's getting agitated, which is something I never picked up until later, while he's getting agitated because nobody's pulling them up, the slime starts to attack him. Yeah. Because obviously he's getting angry.
It doesn't attack him until he starts getting angry and getting agitated. All right. Very good. He manages to grab it with no, because he's nice and calm.
He manages to get a sample of it. But when he's seeing it pull me up, and he's getting more and more angry, the slime starts to come out and try to grab him. Oh, yeah. I never got that element.
No, but it's quite an interesting tip on it, so yes. I really have just thought about that as we were talking about it. But then while all that's going on, the police man, the nosy police man that he is, went and grabbed a builder who said, you don't have a permit. You're not going to be down there.
Right. Yeah. And this starts the greatest scene of this film, the court case. And just before we start that court case, I might have a clip.
So this hopefully this works. So yeah. So when they get to the courts, this is where we introduced to this. Clary brothers, isn't it?
The Stellary brothers. Friends of yours. Cool. So I'll just say.
I'm going to finish the trial in the morning. Give them the trial. Yes. When they're getting sentenced, and they've got a pot of slime there as well.
And as everyone's getting angry, so is that pot of slime. I love this. It's my favorite scene of the whole film. I love this bit.
I love this bit. There it is. So yes. Ray, Stan speed, Bankman, stand up.

Yeah, it's something like that. I love all of that. I've got the speech from the judge and he heard, which is like, I can't get out of it. But that's right.
One thing Goresbusters does up there with some of the best movies out there, like Robbie and stuff, I got the best montages, like Goresbusters and Goresbusters too, love a montage, especially with the soundtrack kicking in. And when you're hearing and you're seeing them going all through the Goresbstraps, and this is where you see all the new gadgets and stuff that they're kind of developing as well. But isn't it amazing that there's been no Goresies since now that all back. Now that all that, they've all come back.
Now is that because they've only something by going into that tunnel? The who's this, you know? Well, because I said it was just a build up, wasn't it? A build up of negative toxic energy, which like a lot of fandoms have to be careful of.
Because of what happens. Yes, you bring back some Goresthings and scary things. But it's about now that, I would just before or just after the montage where we do get introduced to the the main villain of the piece and I'll just bring it back to you. I think we might see him after the montage.
Yeah. We've already seen him when they've been to the when the D&As were placed to look around. Just look at that handsome face. Anyone who's watching online, so you can see a picture.
It makes our beautiful that man is. Hi, Viggo. He's looking at your sword. He's like, ah, he's coming again.
He is terrifying. And I always thought for the longest time that it was him from Highline. But it is not, is it? No, no.
I can't remember the act of the play as him. Um, it doesn't have him credited on what you got on or it is Willem von Homburg as we go to Carpieden, who was a German boxer. And he's in die heart. He's one of the henchmen in die heart.
That's one of his credits. And but yeah, Viggo the Carpieden. And Full name Prince Viggo. Oh my gosh, I can't say that.
Sorry. I'm not going to try. But yeah, Viggo is terrifying. But yes, and I think this is the time when the Go and visit D&R at the other work as well.
And that's when they start irritating like Janos and saying, because Janos has been possessed now by Viggo. Yeah, that was the one thing we forgot to mention that Viggo possesses Viggo. And also it did not know that Max van Simon did the voice of Viggo. Wow.

So before the court case, that's when you have the scene between Yannos and when he possesses Yannos. And I need a child so I can move the journal. And that all happens there. So you realize that at that point, they're after the baby.
It's not the end of this time. It's the baby. So yeah, that happens before they dig the road up in the court case. And I don't think...
Is he possessed at the point of where they go in? Yes. To see him for the first time? Because Vigman's going up and saying, we'll touch up here, we'll make them smile and stuff like that.
And that's when Ray has taken photographs. Yes. And then Ray has a little moment, doesn't he? Well, he just looks like kind of possessed and Vigman was there.
Vigo, Vigo, Vigo. Who's a bad doggy or something like that? Who's a bad monkey? That's it, Ron.
But yeah. But no, the reason why they got arrested for a amount of court we've got to mention is they actually had a massive power clip in New York because of them. Ray knocked to power line out. So after the Montage, the brilliant Montage, we are back in Dana's apartment where the bathtub scene happens.
Right. Okay. And that terrified me as a kid. When I came alive and I was trying to take the Oscar away, I think.
And that's when she goes to Old Vigman for support. Yeah. Back in the New England store. And he's a lovely apartment.
I quite liked it. But everything about Vigman in this scene was just well done. You're expected basically to be a bit douchey and stuff like that. But he was welcoming him.
He made the usual jokes in the comments that he normally does, which you kind of expect. But then he's interactions with Oscar and stuff like that. And he's putting the tape on the baseball. Not the football jersey on him.
The jersey on him. And he also one of the most underrated jokes comes out of this scene, when she says you want to put him down. He was, you should think he's short, you're ugly, and you were a real burden to your mother. I never got that joke at all.
Generally, it wasn't until a few years ago I was watching the back and I was like, oh my God, I get it now. Oh dear. It's a very underrated joke. It's one of those ones that just passed your body.

That's the thing, especially like say with the language you used, there was like, see when you watch a bath, there's a lot of swearing in course, versus one and two and like saying people walking on with cigarettes in your mouth, and again, that doesn't sound weird. But it's not so you're saying that? You don't say it in TV shows and movies and stuff, because it affects the written a lot as well, which is for cigarettes. Cigarettes, yeah, because you didn't say you're not Ryan in the constant films with a cigarette in the TV.

This should have just done it. That's what I was doing from the start. This should have just let him do it. Yes.
But there's so many different elements and like guards in this one as well. And this is when, as I said, Ray Winston and Egon stopped, like say, going in the sewers and investigating the sewers as well. Yeah, so I think he gets, hang on, I've got the engineers to show up and say, sorry, what's this to tell them? Oh, they've got, obviously the mayor's involved.
Yeah. The mayor of New York is involved. Oh, hang on. Keep talking, I'll be two seconds.
Hell, certainly. So yes, like with different elements of this, actually the thing that I always kind of got freaked out by as well was like the look and the color and the texture of the slime. I don't know if anyone else felt that way, but it just felt it-y. I know it's going to sound like a way of saying, a way of saying, when I think it was in the torso bit as well, when they're talking to the slime and finding out how to get the slime to react, like from I've been angry to it, being nice to it, it kind of grows as well.
Especially what the hilarity part is when they put the slime in the torso and the torso starts to dance. And then Bill Murray's, like, say, then when gets all excited and starts hugging the torso, say, my new best friend, I'm going to give you a gift to everyone. I was just talking about the side of the slime there, Sam. Oh, how much right, do you want to know why you want it to fall?

I do remember having tubs of slime, but obviously ghost bus related tubs of slime. I think that I got the ghost bus as one because when you got slime, you got like I've been slimed, and you just have to throw it upside and stuff like that. But then he used to get like this, it doesn't stuff and he used to go all good. Oh yes.

Because I think the investigating the photographs as well. Yeah, the photographs that I'm firing, we start to learn more about Mr. Viggo, the Carpathian, and all of his deadly, deadly, or deathly, doings. And I do have his biography up in front of me, actually Viggo, the Carpathian's one.
And it's horrific. He was like, he's very much, like, I would say trying to think badly in P.E.L.A. That's something you know, that's the scope of where we are with how evil he was. And it does say on there that Viggo was based on the Impaler.

I didn't like the faces on them. No, because I think when they were looking at it in the microstalk, they saw the rivers of slime. So that was like, that's what we saw in the tunnels. That's what we were saying, that's what I saw in the tunnels.
And as he said, the photographs change, and then there's only seven fire. And then everyone comes in and freaks out, because the chemicals and stuff, it's going to erupt. And I think Winston comes in with the fire extinguishers, isn't it? Winston saves the day.
Yes, he bashes that door down like the fucking hero that he is, and saves the day. And all in all, all about this is going on. At some point, wow, we're really bad at putting this film together. We mentioned earlier, the mayor is obviously involved.
And his little sidekick, who is, oh gosh, I always remember him from Elvira. But he's also in scary movie as well. I can't think of his name. He's the one who gets them putting the asylum in the end.
It's the first one he got the asylum, isn't it? No, the first one he got a prison. And they have the blueprints out. All right, yes.
It's the second one where they got the asylum. And I can't think of Kurt Fuller. That's it. He's the guy in scary movie, the police officer.
Sydney, I would like you to have a look at these mochaets, please. And yeah, he is brilliant in this film. I love him. I love how, how much he hates the gortleslusters.
So obviously, we hate him. Yeah, so it was this movie's World of Peck, wasn't he? Yes, he was. Oh my god, I hear the fact that I've never put the two and two together.
I have never looked at the second one and goes, oh, that's completely ripped off of the first one. Now I'm seeing it. But that's the thing, there isn't a million different beats or changes to the film. This one is a big bad guy that's bringing on the end of the world.
