I'm alive. Hey everyone and welcome to another episode of the Puckin' Doodler, the Noodioff podcast. It's an early podcast, so if I know the notes, I am one of your hosts, Sam. And I'm one of your hosts, Paul.
And we are joined by a friend of the podcast and former Go Supposed to show you see it. He's probably supposed to have a title now with a new cast being announced and everything, so he's not been recast, sorry, Ma'am. No, Ma'am, give me not my title to a 15-year-old girl. She was better anyway.
And Paul was funnier as well and better. Look, he's a sexy as man in the UK, so... He's amazing, he is a vampire. So, yes, it doesn't be age.
But yes, this episode is 17, which is 70 episodes. It's probably supposed to be how old they are now, so... But if you're 70, I'm 69 still. Ah-ha!
I'm still not going to know about that. I thought you were about it all out the system. The last episode, it's all about the raunchiness, but no. Yes, so I guess if Martin's been asking to come back on, so we're trying to find an episode of what would fit his talents well.
So we thought with it being a special anniversary, this next year, this month, for Gremen? This week as well, yeah, the 48 this week along with, yeah. The 48 anniversary, how old are we? I think we're 40 this week as well.
Yes. Oh, China's my book? Yeah! Sorry, Charlotte.
No, there they are. We'll not mention 18 this is for Charlotte. We'll do an episode on 18, just the tormentor a little bit. Charlotte, be good.
Right, I'll get the disclaimer other way within them, we'll crack on, talk about Gremenlands, and ask them that most important question. What happens when you piss on a Gremenland? I've got to find out as well. Everything's just internet, so it's our opinions and our opinions alone.
If you want to discuss any topic from tonight's episode, please come and join us on the Facebook group and we can have an open discussion. What we want to have is anyone coming for us and telling us our opinions are wrong. We can agree to disagree and abandon, so let's keep it fun, keep it kind and keep the toxic behavior out of notism. Well done young ladies.
You can't put more professional each week. That's what you call those professionals, Sam. And we'll give you the three reels as well for this episode of the podcast. Rule one, don't get Paul wet because it means he has to have a show with him.
And he has not been a bad f. Rule two, no matter how much you cry, no matter how much you beg, never feed Paul. Because he goes every morning, he's completed at Mrs. Yimani and Rule three, no matter whatever.
He's doped at Sports Hall to bright light. Only because of his going outside. I just realized why Martin's not been on for a while. So, Gremlins, I'm going to let you two leaves because this is just in the nicest way possible.
I don't want to say not my cup of tea because I do like it, but I don't have the same kind and nostalgia feelings that you do. So I'm going to let you go. Gremlins, I like it. There's a difference between like and love and I like it, but I didn't watch it until very recently and I didn't watch the I didn't watch Gremlins until I was at these 29.
So I don't have the same kind of nostalgia as you do. So I let you two gentlemen take the lead on this one. That's a quite good point as well because I mean Martin probably, I know definitely I watched it when I first came out. I was very probably still young to watch it as well.
If you're watching on a later stage with anything that probably doesn't have the same nostalgia, the same type of feelings as it takes you back to good old times as a ghost hostess or only ghostess for you. That's only funny because you're really watching when you're looking. True. I can say with this one with Gremlins being such a mainstay.
The only thing that kind of throws when I was looking into like Gremlins a bit more and found out like this is anniversary. It's Christmas movie and it came out in June. Yeah, same day with all the bosses. So whoever was dealing with the Martin at that time should have got sucked because I can say it absolutely bizarre.
The reason far too early are overshot when they should have released it. So June released for a Christmas movie. I did actually watch it at Christmas. I watched it at the right time of year.
Definitely. I just want to shout out everyone in the chat. It seems like there's quite a few people in there already. So nice to see people there.
I've got a lot of stuff to do on a Sunday night. Thank you for taking time out of your Sunday evenings to come and join us. Very much appreciate it. Yes.
And as someone pointed out, it is a Quinn Essentials 80s movie. It had the 80 stars in there. Like say Fabie Keats just doing everything she was. That's not an old.
And also thingy filming again from the brands that were Corey Corey. And with having what we discussed as well, what we call the Will Hacklet from Stranger Things. Oh yeah. So that's probably where Will's Hacklet was based on all things 80s.
But yeah, with everything about this as well, this film shouldn't have worked as well as it did. Just because it was a B movie horror with shit jokes because the jokes were terrible. But with that bad, it actually made it funny. And I can say with a cup of tea in it, I think this is up there with the best cup of tea in movies.
And when you talk about the entertainment movies, they talk about Labyrinth, Dark Crystal. Art in Gremlins is up there with animatronics and movements that you got. And all practical effects as well, remember. And there's elements of alien in this.
There's elements of, I'll do it some just a bit enough. There's elements of Goonies in this as well. You can't help yourself, can you? I just found out you're so good.
I just happened to imagine Sully Con who's going to gorgeous every reference falls into the Goonies. I've got a bunch of shirts and I have aint it's only one of them. Sully Con, I'm just going to sit in the mic. Charlotte and Jake come up with a bullshit and I'll just go, but it's a fun to talk about in the Goonies, Stancers, No.
I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm not going to rain that song. I'll be in charge.
Yes. But as I film, as I said, it was quite scary at times, which you don't expect, especially elements. The things that do stand out to me, of course, is when we first get introduced to Gizmo at the start. And like, say when he's dad that goes in, it was the Pelsus wasn't at the name.
It was such a bizarre, because when you see Grem and you think it's going to be like, oh, I got this like, it's time to finally go to the sick. It's almost blade-runner-esque, where it's like a shadowy figure in the street. Like going all film the wild a little bit and he's like doing a voiceover and walking into the shop. And he's trying to sell them all this shit.
And the little boys get, oh, it makes me a quick book on Gizmo's blessing. But the thing that always stands out is that noisey nicks when you hear what I'm saying. Come on, Kayla, can do it so much better than me. Give her a quick call.
You know, quick call. Stand back far as quickly. What would you say yours is your big memory of it though, Martin? Yeah, I think, like, seeing a kind of mid-eighties, it was the box.
Seeing kind of the VHS in the shop. It was the original one where it has the box with Billy holding Gizmo's eyes. I think that kind of saw that. And I think off the back of critters as well, it was kind of, yeah, it was kind of what drew me to it.
that box and the kind of critters as well kind of and then Gizmo and seeing kind of Gizmo on the back and then watching it in the middle and just kind of just moving Gizmo and you know and yeah and just the cast like you say it's a very much 1980s movie and the fact that it's got Spielberg's name on it. Yeah, it's interesting. I was like a producer he wasn't a director. When it came out I was far too young to see the images so I waited for it to quite on VHS and I remember trying to think where I bought it from as well because I couldn't actually buy it because I think it was a 15 or something with a come out on VHS originally because I think it was a 12 when it was on the pictures but at the time 12 the 12 didn't come out on VHS it was I've heard PG or a 15 so most 12s went to 15 was the same thing with Batman Returns.
They just did not want you to see that in the book. No, no, I remember buying it from Woolworths going down to Woolworths and I think it got because when you've come out to cinema you just have to wait nearly a year for it to come out on video not like it is now when I say it comes up the same at four weeks and it's on streaming devices or even quicker if you've got a few bit dodgy like regular snorkels. Did you know? Remember getting me birthday money and saving up and there was two VHSs I bought at the time.
This is going to throw the contrast of films up. I used to watch about three men and a little lady and nothing meant to be a really lady lady was the second one and I'm Gremlins. So that was the two complete back fall off of each other. So then with the two films I was like because VHSs went cheap at the time when the first day.
No one was the shade. So I started to get two videos from me birthday and one for Christmas and the toys and stuff. So I think I got Gremlins and three men and a little lady. I remember the one year after was hooked.
Then I was like the big ones I remember buying when I was a kid. But yeah the actual film just like I said at that time the worst because it was interesting Martin saying about critters there were a lot of these films I came out of. I got me afterwards. The Goonies was another one that tried to rip it off quite badly.
If you ever watched the Goonies it's god awful. It's like one of those films and it's terrible but it's good at the same time. It's so good. It's like it's so bad it's good.
I remember they look like the boggling if you remember. Oh my god I used to have one of them. I can still like the rubber and what was voted the worst film of all time which was Troll. And I had a minute to hang on Troll or Troll 2.
I was a Troll 2 because they just passed the best one. Honestly watching it's hilarious. It's so funny. The acting in it is atrocious.
It's directed by an Italian horror director who doesn't understand Americans. It's genius. I've just found a really interesting fact about the Gremlins that I did not know. Then how we Mandel is Gizmo?
Yeah he was a good fan boy. He did the same boy because if you remember Muppet babies he was a stater as well. He was a stater. And he also, and if you remember it was a classic or Bobby's world as well he did the same boy.
He was a stater and scooter and Gizmo. And Bobby. Yeah. So he really went out and arranged a knee.
I went to stay in Muppet babies. It's still an empire when I was a kid. I saw them on the door and they'd be like the stormtroopers or the tie fighters and then they'd shut it again and then they'd be like yeah they'd be like all the Lucas kind of properties. And you always saw mum's legs.
You always saw real legs. Yeah. I'm not going to have him on Del's Gizmo. That's crazy.
I wonder if he's going to be in the new one as well because they're not making a film. But it's going to cart down. So they're going to do it. Secret to the Mark Wipe.
Well, he was. I was the only kid on as he was in June. I was back in my last year and he got that guy again and how we back was like a live action and Gizmo. And you could see Gizmo's like grey and he's aged.
So I don't want to see any Asian Gizmo. It's half the reason why I didn't watch it as a kid is because I'm too sensitive. And I think I would have like totally get my sentimental attachment to Gizmo. And he's not real.
And it would have breaks. Just stop there. Gizmo's not real. I just don't know how to break it to the now.
Just break on the illusion now. Like see what next you're going to say. Labyrinth's not real. Like Ludo's not.
Well, I just want to say it well. I don't know if you're watching on YouTube with us. We do have a rolling image below us. That's got all the gremlins on.
There's two little gremlins in there. Special gremlins. Just to see them. Be careful if you ever see them in the street.
Just don't get them. Don't just piss on them. Don't piss on them. She doesn't take too kindly.
She's got a wasp. Right. It's extra for that. So why do you love the gremlins so much?
Like what is it? It's just so shit that it's great. I think that's best way to spend it. Everything that you can think of is a bean movie horror.
Like all the other people in the upstairs it's very like old school horror like type of theatrics where the play tricks and the rules don't make any sense at all. Like I know they're trying to piss out of it in the sequel. Where it's like don't feed them after me. Nothing like what happens when it happens when you go over different time zone.
It's like somewhere where's that cut off point where it's like after me and walk in the freezer because that's 70 am so after eight am. Who knows. And then like I say the whole don't get wet. Does it have to be water?
Is it caged to water causes the problem? Because we've seen in the movie that Spike runs through the snow and then doesn't turn into other gremlins. More power. And more power.
Very dory power. To the sweat. Yeah. Yeah.
That's a question. And what was the other thing as well? Like it's more gets fat on these stairs as well. It doesn't look like it's gremlins bit different.
As it just has to be certain consistency of water that there. And the sunlight thing does make sense. Because people can't be sensitive to life for a sense of system. That's the one that's vampires.
Yeah. So it gives more really a vampire. Like there's some form of vampire out there that doesn't suck on blood. But yeah.
Just all these rules which makes it more fun. But it doesn't make a lot of sense. But isn't it just movie magic though? Like you don't really look at the small details.
You just go along with what's been said because you know. Like how did the hang burn your face side with the lights? Like when they're in the little mopwise and work gremlins. Yeah.
They're like mopwise and they still hang like a grown dog by the Christmas lights. You know what I mean? And Charlotte's just made a really good point actually that gremlins is probably most people's introduction to horror. Definitely.
And like there's actually terrifying bits in gremlins as well. Like when you get first introduced to the actual gremlins when the more from like the egg state and you're going to go into when it's his mom not going around the house. And she's like hearing the noises. It's very very old school horror.
And then where you think the gremlins going to come from and all you see is the red lights which the gremlins eyes coming out of the Christmas tree. And then she gets stuck in a tactifier, a Christmas tree. That scene is so cool. Yeah.
And then not only does she fight the gremlin off, she chops its head off into the fire. Which is sort of a microwave. Do you like what's full? I just think of Ash from like Evil Dead and that moment.
Like she just goes full on like killing spree and it's fantastically done. The set and scenery of that like the colors in the whole thing actually we're really striking to us and it does have that horror element to us. I kind of wish this was my introduction to horror as opposed to what I actually got in the horror way because it would have been such a nice story. But yeah, that's such a good point.
I never really looked at that like the horror aspect of it. But it is the gremlins is such a like a centipede to the horror community. Oh definitely a two-hour. It is pretty much like a homage to anything that's come before it's like the called Egg Christmas Day.
It's so alien-dumbed. It should have been sort of a super copyright to be fair. Then the protagonist that is Spike was such a good protagonist. And I can say such a little fucker as well that he couldn't help but he couldn't help but he couldn't help but he used to be nasty to bully Gizmo.
And from that point you knew he was a twat. So every little thing like what was he saying about Nickname Gizmo? Kakar and stuff like that. How many kids sit down in the place?
Yeah. Yeah. But then the elements in it like which was pure which is the 80s cheese like the actors in it. Like clearly Giz the whole speech of it.
Oh yeah. Was this hilarious? So out of place for the film that we're watching. Does this sense like why bring it up?
Yeah. And as I said, George Reinhold's like Billy's boss. Again, he just wanted him to get his co-op as well. And then had that all dude who was driving the track on the track on the Korea.
Marie Fortman Dick Miller. Yeah. Sorry, I couldn't remember his name. So he's basically just like telling the story of like being drunk at the bar.
And he was going to drive a, like say, do you want to drink and drive guys? Well, he was going to drive a make a forklift form. And they kind of be tricked out when I'm driving. It was like, Jesus, that send messages already about Christmas, Ringon.
Yeah. This is a clean film case. Nice. And then until we're kind of really all the rocking and wrecking, wrecking, or kind of the thing at the end, you think you guys buy getting one over by him in the track?
So yeah. I do love the second one, though, when the stuff baby came from seeing the dance story. Yeah. That is hilarious.
Sorry, I've just been corrected in the topic. It wasn't a spike. It was straight. That was a thing.
Oh, yeah. Spike was in the sequel. Yeah. I'm disagreeing because I don't know.
You could say anything to us now. Just like, yeah. But where this one was more of a comedy and aspects, like the whole, like, when they go into cinema and stuff and all the singing, I was in the cinema and this one was like, oh, that's a second. Right.
When they watch, you know, right? And they're all like, oh, and I, oh, and you see them like, taking over the bar and stuff. And again, like, one of them's under the top down in beer, getting wet, but not more than and you say he's barely going up and stuff like that. But the whole build up, like, of the movie was done in a classic, I said classic horror and like, like beats and stuff from the instance, like when in the high school and they take the, like, they find this creature and say, oh, yeah, we'll take it to high school science teacher because that's what you do.
But the older was injected to death. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
And like, say, they're doing tests on the one on the cage and the nasty science teacher pulled out of that blood, which it would do. It's just to say what kind of like creature was and the grimp and the mob wise getting pissed off needed to strip your leaves, you sandwich their, eat the sandwich. And that's when we're first getting introduced to like the chrysalis, like the egg state when he's in the cage. So he's on the chin.
Yeah. Oh, that's nothing. So when it's something turned the most horrific part of the movie is when you see the gremlins and the mob wise eating chicken. That's just horrific to watch.
Like what was like, I don't know what I was watching at that. Was it some kind of porn? Was it some kind of fetish thing there? But it definitely wasn't any chicken I've seen before.
One of the things I would have thought is Mrs. Deagle's death, like the old, the old witch had it coming in. It's hilarious. The witch just flies out the window.
Yeah. I wanted to talk about her as well because she was such a horror character as well. It was very, as I said, when they were ripping off like different characters, it was very wicked, which like was the vase type of character. It was like one of those.
Yeah. Yeah. I'll catch you on a dog too. But it was so over the top and cheesy in hand, but it probably says people like that out there who just that much of a twat.
I got really angry as well when she pushed in line. I was like, bitch. Yeah. That was so English.
Like, Q and Is I was saying, like, no, we don't do people pushing the line. We know how to Q. I can totally understand your rage on that one. But then like going through the whole emotions, like over from Porton, was it?
No, man. No, man. That's why she wanted to kill the dog. Kill Barney.
Yeah. You want to murder a dog over a bloody porcelain? What is wrong with this woman? Like, I'm glad she got what was coming over.
That's why I went up that stairlift. Again, that stairlift didn't make sense because we're both saying the stairlifts. It's like, no way. Can you pick up that speed?
I'll try it as a kid. When I've been like, all people saw me and I've seen a stairlift. I've wanted to recreate Gremlins and try it out and near work when you get them. No, I'm just sorry.
Sorry, go on. No, I'm sorry. No, it's like, how many floors she goes up as well. That house is really like, think, walls.
Yeah, it's like, we're round, round, round, round, round. Oh my god, my granddad used to have one and it was the slowest thing going. Like, it really was. And it was literally just going upstairs.
It took about 10 minutes to get up there. There's a little bit of she shot out of it. Yeah. Unless I had like rollercoats to like, like, mechanism in it to where she could just shoot off.
But you know what I love about it as well, when she flies out the window and she gets, I killed in the snore. She's upside down the snore. There's a police car there watching it. And the two- Oh, no.
Maybe they wanted to see a gold check. When you say I love that Santa as well, that's when the other grand wins on him. Yeah, that same happens. I'll make a few seconds after the police is caught.
I think it's one of the guys who'll break and bud. And it is. It's named... Mike.
Is it Mike? No. Yeah, Mike. He's already got a soul as well.
Yeah, yeah. He was one of the sheriffs and like, he had to be like, really, watching a few, not too long ago. And then when you see it, they're just sitting in the car looking at me. I'm going, oh, there's Mrs.
Diggle in the snore. She's clearly dead. And then they're like, what's she's she looking at? Yeah, then they look to the left and they go, hey, there's such an acronym in the name, such and such.
He plays Santa right here. And he's clearly getting attacked by these little monsters and they're in the car. It's sitting there going, it's like, you're supposed to be fucking police officers. You've got a gun.
That's like the adult talking in here because it's a kid. You would not have thought twice about that saying you'd be like, yeah, yeah, that's just like witness what's going on. But as an adult, you're like, holy shit, it's, will you do your job? It's so well done though.
Like, well, so badly done. It's, that's, I'm just looking at the right crap. Fantastic. It's probably the best way to scream.
Fantastic. What a word. But when they made this... They must have known like how much money they're going to make.
Like not just the film, but just off the marketing. And merchandise alone. Because as I said, Martin's got to give more. I've got to give more.
How next to the woody? I've got the Negatore figures and stuff now. I've got Grinter in the other room with brains. It's just constantly going and still people are just buying more and more of this stuff now than the British other days.
I think, I think like the toy wise, or collection wise, Gremlins is at like an all-time high. Anytime, we went to a convention last year in Maryland and she loves the Gremlins. And she again, she's the Negatore collector and that's all she bought, which is Gremlins. But then you've got the really tall ones that have come out recently.
They are fantastic in detail. Oh, I see them. Absolutely fantastic in detail. That's the film.
When you think about it, you can't... There's elements that do stand out and there's elements that do like the jump in your head and think, but when you watch it back, you don't realise it's almost a two hour film as well. It's not like a... I think the runtime on Steve can't get that off.
Because I'm sure it's like one... I'm sorry, I'm making my drawing bullshit here. Sorry guys. I actually do know what I actually own on DVD.
Because when I first watched it, I was at me in laws and he wanted to put his favourite film on. It was father-in-law's night and we watched the Gremlins, which is his favourite movie, like, favourite Christmas movie. Then he put his next favourite movie on, which was Maximum Overdrive, which was the first time ever watched it. Oh, god, that is awful.
It's so good. No, we're going double in book. I absolutely love that film, but it was just like that night was just great in itself. And then the next day I went out and bought the Monde DVD and I think we've honestly sat in the cup of deficits.
I'm just looking at it now. The runtime for Gremlins was one hour and forty-six. That's long for an 80s film. You're only looking around about a typical 90 minutes for...
but I get these films. That's kind of long. Yeah, especially for Lexi. Because it wasn't really complex, sorry.
It ran from year to day. Actually, the characters that they brought in, some of them were interesting choices. I never really got the appeal of Billy's dad. That whole, like, same, inventor.
It just seemed odd for Lexi's thing, and all Lexi tried to make him out to be a dreamer and stuff. But it just seemed to be like, we had one cramp, weed and wonderful things. The inventions he brought, the smautless astria that never worked. And the hamadabam.
The hamadabam. The body was like two p.s. We had just taken a book with a group of guacamole. Yeah, that was strange.
But I'm the producer. I remember them. Yeah, I remember them. The orange juice had made us feel sick.
I'll have to admit. I never felt queasy watching a film, just with all these different, weird and wonderful food references. And they've worked even the coffee. When the coffee came out of a black sludge.
I was like that baby food in Robocop. Yeah, yeah. I didn't understand his friendship, Billy's friendship with Corey Bellman's character. Yeah, I agree with that.
Why would you? Why would this grown teenage boy be friends with such a child? I don't know, I'm having something here like, because as a teenage girl, I would want to not around younger people. I get it in a weird because it was small town in America, where it probably wasn't people.
Like that too much around the age where you can relate as much. Here in the UK and stuff, we'll constantly around kids your age. But you have to remember, Billy was a kid at heart as well, because he wasn't just like a banger. He wanted to be an artist.
Yeah. And that was where we got the element in Gremlins 2, when he put that to work. But when he was drawing and stuff, he went to the bar and then he had referenced it. And they go, oh, you're going to be better than this, Billy.
And you can tell he wasn't happy in his job, which to be fair, most of us aren't. And then you never got to live out to what you wanted to do, or how you could do it, unless you live in an American dream. But it's not, actually, I think now, it is a bit more of an odd friendship, because the age range has kind of stick to them. But I think back in the 80s and stuff, because I had friends where a lot older than me, and they said that was just out through football.
True, that's true. Because everyone had to hang out with the cool kids and stuff like that. But... Are you part of the cool kids?
I was never part of the cool kids. That's never happened to this day. No, I mean, this has been like this since I was 13, so I was definitely not part of the cool kids. For us, like I said with the horror movie as well, and I know we've talked about the different beats, but it has probably gross out scenes as well.
I think Martin alluded to it before, the microwave scene is not easy to watch. And especially with the end and spoilers, when the big fight off with Stripe in the shop mall, where he's trying to stop them from getting to the fountain. Like, say, Dunawy, plenty of taps, plenty of toilets. Plenty of snow.
Plenty of snow. He had to go to this fountain where he was going to produce mega-groundlands or something. Never really think that was what the big scared was, that they were trying to stop Stripe from getting there. He went in the pool, yeah, when he jumped in the swimming pool.
Yeah, and you see him doing all these things, like at one point they got like a... Was it? What's that thing called? Just circular saw?
Oh, I know what you mean. Like the player turn is going after them with us. And then he got the chance. Then he got the chance.
Yeah, so I thought that. Yeah. I see the end type of elements was actually quite terrifying. And then he got the whole hero moment of giving more control costs somehow, and actually staring and taking out Stripe and opening the blinds.
And then we saw what happened to the ground and friend sunlight it. And that was terrifying. I'm having that moment right now. So that is just hitting my ears.
And it's making me look sort of old. Like, a need to stop. Oh, you don't look old. You don't look worse at this podcast.
Thanks. That's not going to look good. It doesn't count much though, but that's not saying much. The ending as well.
Yeah, yeah. Because the film that originally where Billy was a hero. And then when he watched, yeah. And then when Zat went to the Sorry, when he was sorry that the premiere, it was Gizmo.
And he was like, what the hell is all this about? You know, why not? It's Billy's only a hero. Yeah.
I was sitting on that one. Oh, dear. That's just a very loud. But yeah, I don't think I would have played out as well if I did that way.
But because and then you got the sad story where Gizmo was dating away from Billy, even though it seems they were like at home together. The mystical Asian dude coming with a glass eye. And we're sitting on the wing dial of them. He was not going to guide in Gremlins.
But when he was going to get to, you know, he took Gizmo away and he was in Gizmo can talk. Like, and all we got to the words was like, see you, Billy. And then he was going to be sitting on the wing. So you might be ready to one day to think so.
That was the whole teaser for the sequel. So in a nutshell, I know, not really talked about it much. But like I said, with Gremlins, as I said, with the story and everything, it was more aesthetically than story wise. But visually, it was one of the better films out there.
And then all it had little cameos as well. Like the robot from, was it Forbidden Planet? That was a really cool one. Yeah, when he was at the Invencers Convention.
Yeah, yeah. Have you said the robot would have been more impressed? I think, but I'll do as well. I just felt like a quintessential 80s movie.
Yeah. Didn't really do much, but still was just a lot of fun. And so perhaps it's your heart today. I mean, you still, but with 2022 and we're doing a podcast on Gremlins and it's quite a few people in the chat, you absolutely love it.
So it's still tied still. Not exactly holds up, but it's still got that fan base there. Yeah. Spielberg saved it all because the original concept was terrifying.
I think that's where Crittons was born from that. Because Chris Humber's original script was terrifying. It was a scene where he'd written where Mrs. Deagle got, not Mrs.
Deagle. Mrs. Peltzer, when Peltzer, she gets decapitated. And Gizmoore was originally going to be Komegremlin.
There was a scene where they got him at Donald's and instead of eating all the food, the people. I was still like that. I would have thought that would have been funny. I don't think he was.
But he would have been a bit more beam movie that. And a few other exceptions was like, no, Bizmoore's going to be the hero. And who did the puppeteer and it wasn't Jim Henson? Chris Wallace.
It was Chris Wallace. He got Rich Baker for the sequel. Chris Wallace was directing the fly to Thor. Right.
That's probably where the detail comes from. Who is this the buddy in to? So it was Spike. It was Spike.
It was Spike. Because the detail in that is on reel and rip big as I work is just incredible. So that explains that. Yeah.
But if you move into the second one, again, it was pretty much the same premise as the first. But it was kind of like die hard with Gremlins. Because I'd say the tourist organisation took over the whole tower. And oh, yeah, Komp Court is right.
It was pretty much like in the Nakasomi Plaza. Yeah. Yeah. It's so funny though.
Like it honestly is. If anyone has seen the sketchroom, Keenan Piel, where the boardroom meeting, he's like, right, this executive producer walks in. He's like, John, Pielan, he's like, right. Just funny ideas.
Just funny ideas. Just funny ideas. Just funny ideas. Every single one that comes out in that boardroom is actually the plot of Gremlins too.
Yeah. It's so great. I think with Gremlins too as well, the new, the lesson on the joke. Because they took the piss out of itself so much.
Like from the elements of like, say, when they take the piss out of the video tower. Not that wasn't the video. It was like the security room where they're seeing all the videos. And they were talking about it in, what could be, what constitutes after midnight?
He's the question. He's got a seat, fucking seat. And yeah. Because technically he hasn't had that before midnight.
It was just processed. It was like, and Billy was getting frustrated with the whole thing. But I've taken it back as well. Like the whole sadness as well.
Of corporate America taking over the little business. Like Trump powers. Yeah. Yeah.
And then he passed away and gives more of trying to run down the streets. And I see these little legs for him as well. Yeah. That was really well done.
But then being captured by the way. You're twin guys from Turn Thee. Oh my god. Yeah.
And also Christopher Lee is in this film. Yeah. And he apologized. Yeah.
And he apologized. And you're going to say, he said, I'm sorry for doing that. I'm doing so. Doing well.
He was in the Halloween too, which was absolutely terrible. Good job. One of John Donta's biggest films of them like Ina Space and Grem wins. Was the Halloween and they did a really god awful sequel to the Halloween.
I went to and Christopher Lee was in it. So when he got cast in Grem wins too, he said to John Donta, I was sorry for doing it. To be fair though, if you go back to Christopher Lee, I can't ignore it. He's done some shit.
So that I wouldn't be doing it. He was in a rock band as well. Yeah. He wasn't just a rock band.
He was like a rock guitarist. You know, I don't know. He was also a count to go. So like.
Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. The greatest films I've made.
Oh. And a menace. Yeah. Great.
Great film. Now the top of the scene is all the first are incredible. I will die on the hill for them two scenes. And the cast mind in Gremlins too is quite impressive.
And John Aston's in it. John Dleva who plays, I think he's boss. And he's also. Oh my gosh.
But he's in Smallville. He's in Scrooge for Bill Murray. He's such an amazing character after like his facial expressions alone. Absolutely hilarious.
And I was very happy when I saw his face. And I didn't know that at all as well. Yes. I'm just not saying his name come up on the list as well.
Who is Jerry Goldsmith? He's come up on first and second one. No. He was the, he did the score.
Right. Yeah. So he's responsible for that music. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Can I talk as well for Gremlins too?
The nightmares, these, because the Gremlins and Gremlins won, like weren't terrifying, like in look and wise, there were more, like, you wouldn't need a foot with them, but there weren't, you could tell they were puppets. They took it to the next level in this one with like the genetic experiments. And we've got all types of different Gremlins in this one. That absolutely was terrifying.
Like that spider one was just something that you've never exchanged. Oh. Like that web. Gremlins more.
Gremlins more. But we also got the bats, the bats, Gremlins. Gremlins. Yeah.
You know, you got Gremlins. Yeah. The bat one who got the injections in that, that would allow him not to be affected by sunlight. Just like sunlight.
Yeah. So he flew out the window and done the bat single. He just absolutely hilarious. And then we got the two more famous ones.
We got Gremlins. The gorgeous, actually the most sexualized Gremlins Gremlins will ever get. I've got to give a shout out to Nicole. You know, yeah, we'll be watching.
We'll be doing amazing cosplay. Oh, she doesn't watch the show. She doesn't try to stand me talking. No, I'll be sure.
Yeah. Right. She doesn't watch any of that. Yeah.
So many of the Catherine Bonox. She looks incredible as well. Yeah. As Gremlins.
But yeah. Like you say, she was amazing, Gremlins. And also, as you said, the brain, which is one of the most comedy genius type aspects as well. I was getting having a super intelligent Gremlins just talking the most about the shifts.
Yeah. You know what I mean? Oh, yeah. New York is incredible.
I can't listen to that song. We know that we know Stokes for Early in the New Light. Like Tony Rumbel. Yeah.
I think I was me. Yeah. Well, that's right. It's going back to what you were saying about.
You know, the, you know, the Necrofigures. I think Gremlins too, it helps the Necro line because of the ridiculousness of them. I think you can get the Spider One in Necro. But it's like absolutely sold out.
It's very hard to come by now. I don't actually think I could wonder what it was. I think I've met a weird enough during the night. Oh, yeah.
And I've just spied it like a shadow or something. Oh, do you know what? If you didn't take them out of the box, you could just pause the lid. Yeah.
Yeah. No, I don't know. Why don't you know? Is he in the back?
Is he still in the tie's around him? No, no, he's not in the front. Oh, right. I thought it was a bad.
