Happy, happy Halloween, Halloween, Halloween, happy, happy Halloween, Silver, Shemrock. Hi everyone and welcome to another episode of the Nerdy of North Podcast. It's Nerdy of North Podcast, possibly by two of the Nerds. I'm one of your hosts Sam.

I'm the other host Paul. It's a company! As you can probably tell, Sam's a little bit excited this morning. It's the time of the Spooky season.

So the Goth side knows in full bloom. Shall we see it? It's our time, people. It's our time as Degeneration X said.

I am really excited and I'm also really excited for this week's episode. It's going to be great and I am back home. Not with a shitty microphone in camera. I have a brand new camera and you can see everything.

My room is terrible. It's good to have you back, Alexie. Last week's podcast. I'm kind of zooming at one point to try and get rid of technical issues.

I'll have a look like it was a bit of a blur. I do apologise to do an update. I'm sorry for the quality, if you could barely see us at all. It was the best I could do.

I'd have to live at my parents for two weeks. But I'm home, I'm back home. And this week we're going to do Halloween. The franchise has changed so many fucking times.

So yes, we did. Legacy was the last week. If you look if it's tuned in that we were going to start the kick off the Spooky season, shall we say, with like I said, Ultimate Horriff franchise in my eyes. I know there's been a few of there.

And again, I said last week it was just off the cuff, but I did like the thing, the good, the bad, the wrong zombie. So we'll discuss all the ins and outs, things we love about the franchises, things that we found odd, things that changed throughout and added to the legacy and what worked and what didn't work. But yes, we'll try and make it as entertaining as we can, shall we say. I'm joined by a little guest, I'm just like my god.

So that's anything wrong, you put this in, so it should be interesting. Yeah, you'll get there. That leads nicely into just wanting to put a disclaimer out there, as always, that you know, all these thoughts and opinions and everything we talk about and the likes and we don't like are all our own. Please don't come for us.

Just come and have a conversation, you know, this Facebook, because the comments, let's just keep the talk sick. I can never say this properly. Talk to the city out of Nerden and Fandoms, as I said, into Halloween. So we have talked about the first one of this franchise quite a lot.

It's one of my favourite horror films, it's one of yours. It is actually a pure classic and it's timeless. It's aged perfectly well, it's still scary and it still has relevant tones today. Like I said, in the end of this film in 1978, it relies heavily on the music and the shape that was turned out to be William Shatner's Mask, turned inside out, which just turned out to be a brilliant idea.

And I think the original name was called the Baby City Killer, is that something that we've got the same ones. It was something like that, wasn't it? And I did a reaction to the Halloween 2018 one. And I've said this on the podcast before, I made a comment how the new the 1974 one didn't stand the test of time.

1978, why not keep thinking of saying 74? Sorry. And it didn't stand the test of time. And I watched it again after I made that comment.

And I was like, oh, I was able to say that it's still really good. The only one thing that I watched the other day, and the only one thing that really irritates the fans off is, and this is not just Halloween, this is just, there's a lot of films that do this, children. Yeah. How annoying Tommy Doyle is in that movie.

I just wanted to punch him in the face. Repeatedly, I'm telling you. Yeah. But it always makes it a little bit scarier when the wrist involves children for some reason.

But to me, they say this, there was none of all of them to be more worries. But that's the thing. Yeah. But I said that this is the whole premise of the idea of the Bogeyman just can't be stopped.

And I love the aspect of the first one, how it kind of just doesn't matter, there's no rhyme or reason. He's just busy. He could walk past three people and not linger and I, but then turn and chop someone's head off or sad. And then he's just doing evil.

That's what Loomis says. The rock hall, franchise, when he's in it, it's just evil. Yes. And Donald Pleasant is absolutely perfect in that role as well.

He gives a bit of balance and urgency to the role as well, because he knows how evil and sadistic Michael is. And it's done brilliantly, as I said, the action throughout, there's probably not much in the first one when it comes to action. It's more what you don't see or catching things at the corner of your eye. That's the aspect that scares you more, which I think a lot of different horror films, or even the horror films on this franchise kind of forget.

And it goes a bit too in your face, or too out there. But, next year, I don't know if they knew how successful this film was going to be when the original made it. That was a big surprise. Yeah, I don't think it did very well at the start with.

I was watching them document really the day about it. In the stage, within the first 24 hours, it was nothing. So it was like, oh, it's a flop. And it wasn't until 48 hours later, it started to pick momentum off.

And it started to end. It's just taken off since then. Since 1978, until right now, it has a following. Like, I was in the horror community like no other.

Yeah. I think it's one of the, sorry, I've got it in there. One of the, it's one of the horror films that when I was younger, it didn't scare us as much until I was older. When I watched it older, it was more scarier than it was when I was getting it.

I think that was a lot of horror though, like, I didn't. Because you don't quite get it, do you? No. The likes of Freddie and Jason, they don't, they don't want to, to Freddie never scare us, I thought he was hilarious.

So, I'll come and ask that Freddie wasn't, he was quite short at type one. But, because... Yeah, he was a child killer. Yeah, the towards Freddie was a little bit too dark, so they made him like a comedy character, I think.

If you're seeing me looking down, it's because I've got me four one, because I'm not, I haven't made any notes. I just wanted, I brought me four one with it, so I didn't get names wrong. That's what I didn't want to do is get names wrong. The cast of the first one has one of the most iconic, apart from Jamie Lee, who at the time really wasn't a non-actress, and had one of the most, I would say, best horror icons, screen queens there is, is PJ Soles.

She never gets mentioned. Like, when, when I'm listening to anything about horror, it's very rare that PJ Soles gets mentioned, and she's brilliant in that film. I think she's, I think, character's fantastic, and she's the best one to short it, so... LAUGHTER And they were spectacular.

Exactly. That's it, I'm pressing it because I say all those, like, tits going forth, I know they're not going to go to the tip of the arm. They always looked like they were floating, like, someone was actually, they never said to be natural, I think, I mentioned it. No, she's also definitely natural.

And also Nancy Keyes, I'm saying this, right, isn't just in Halloween one, she's also in, she gets killed in Halloween one, in the car, very... Rit. And she's also in Halloween three. All right.

She is the wife of Tom, is it Tom Egan's, who berates him down the phone for not being in the phone? Yeah, her voice is so shrill, you can recognise her anywhere. So, yeah, she's in the first and second one, another one. So, before we start going through, like, the different franchises, like different films, I'd rather think, what was the standout for you in the movies, like the ones that you've seen, which ones, because I know, all back now, just, like, say, count them, there's one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10, 11, released Halloween films, and, like, see what the next one, Halloween kills, and the one that's going to have to Halloween ends, in total, it's going to be 13 Halloween films out there, which you don't really think that many of them is being made, which ones are the, like, would you see other standouts, like, other than the first one, which is, I can't trust it.

It's obvious. I absolutely adore, and I know it's got nothing to do with Michael Myers, but I adore Season of the Witch. Like, I wish that just didn't have it, I just wish it didn't have Halloween, and was linked into the Halloween franchise. I just wish it was a don't stand alone, like, head off to the, because I love that movie so much.

Well, we'll get into that one a bit later on, so I'll basically re-watched it again, and I've got a lot of Seattle that makes it genuinely, and from what I've, when I've researched a little bit, it's quite an interesting topic, but, I agree with you. I'm a big fan of Halloween three seasons of the Witch, it's a standalone movie, it works really well as a horror film. Really, really well. And, so, the night is hit, and you've got Scream that re-energises the horror franchise, and then you get the likes of, like, I know what you did last summer, Urban Legend, and then Halloween H2O hits.

Now, now, I'm not, I don't wanna say I'm not a fan of this, but, and it's only because of where the franchise is now. If that makes sense, but we know that with the newer one, it links up with just the first one. And I love that aspect, but at the time, I absolutely, like, I was on it. I love the fact that we had a Halloween movie in our generation.

That was, like, really exciting, even though, like, it's not great. And I found out the fact of the day that really, like, made me realise how ungraced this movie actually is. So, you know, when the guy, his friend gets killed, just before, and he turns around, and he's face to face, well, Michael Myers. He's, then, friend, the guy from Jumanji?

Yeah. Yeah. That's a CGI mask. All right.

That's not a real mask. It's CGI. Why? Why would you do this?

No, it's a mask. It kind of, like... Yeah. So, I could, just to say, oh, this will be a good thing that we didn't film, I think, but it's trying to hide it.

Oh, it's ridiculous. I just, at the time, I loved it. I was all on it because it's where horror was at the time in the 90s, like, early 2000s. And obviously, the new 2008 one, like, it's, for me, it's perfect.

Like, it's absolutely perfect, and I love it. But this is a franchise that is being done over, and done over, and done over, and one more time done over again. And I love where we're at right now. Yeah, it seems to be, like, gone, because when you go through the films, like, some of them go up really out there, like, complete, batshit, crazy premises, and ideas, and philosophies added to the films, which doesn't quite make sense.

But it's a hard one. Yeah, but similar to you, Halloween 3 is a standout, just because of the original leave behind as well, and how different it was. I like Halloween-H2O when it first came out. Halloween 2, when I was younger, I enjoyed, but after watching the new one, the 2008 one, Complete Changing Mind on Halloween 2, and there was always an aspect Halloween 2 I wasn't comfortable with, or kind of like, was shoe-honding as a premise.

But I didn't mind Halloween 2, but then the others make a bit crazy, Halloween Resurrection completely crinkled a little bit, just going back to your comment as well, because I didn't actually know this. When you said the Halloween H2O was a Halloween 4-hour generation, it was a Halloween that came out three years before it. It was Halloween, the Curse of Michael Myers, it never got released in the UK. It was an American release, but it was in 1995.

Wow, so is that the, is that because of Halloween 6? Yes, that's how we're in 6, that's the poll, where Paul Rudd was actually in which Tony Bill is. No, I didn't even know that came out, it was like, yeah, obviously, everything who's playing him in the new one. No.

So, in the new one. Oh, it's a man, Michael Head, we're in science. We're in science, yeah. So, in, for the new one, we're going to have Tommy Doyle and the little girl who, the name completely eludes me at the moment, and played by none of the than Kyle Richards, who was the original little girl in Halloween, who was also found famous in the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

All right, okay. She's coming back to reprise our role. Lindsay Waller, Satsit, Lindsay Waller. So, she's coming back to reprise our role.

And I remember I watched the first season, the first season of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and oh my God, this is not- Oh, the killer is so proud of you. You feel the truth? The killer is so false to do it, and I was really pooly one day, and I just shoved it on, and I just found myself being too attached and bothered that I was about these people, and I was like, I cannot get into this. But she, when she introduced herself, she's a horror actress, and that's what she used to do.

And I completely forgot, she was Lindsay Waller's in the original, and she's coming back. Right, I know that they're sitting in front of the trailer. It's bringing back a lot of the old faces that Michael terrorized, because they're using the premise of Michael's not just trying to kill Laurie Short or kill all the people that- They're involved. I got weird typing shots.

Yeah, the case we played Tommy Doyle in the original one, who honestly is on par with the Noyans, with the kid from the Babadook. And he, they wanted him back for Halloween six, but because he didn't have an agent, they couldn't use them. So, that's why they got Paul Rydin, and that's why they replaced him again with the wee-time guy. So, again, I'll revisit this one as well.

He looks pretty much the same as what he looks like now, just a little bit. Oh, but apparently this is his first feature film. However, because of the time it took to release, the audience hasn't already seen him in his second feature film, which is clueless. Right, okay.

Halloween six is his first ever on-screen film. Yeah. It's been an interesting look. Again, we'll go back through when we talk about the films, visually, where the aspects to them.

But yeah, so then with the ones that stood out to me, just to go into Halloween two a little bit more, the thing that I've got over from now, I think when I was younger, is the fact that the mid-Lory Storge, Michael Sisler, this is the first time they mentioned and brought that aspect in, because they wanted to carry on the legacy of why Michael was chasing them, given a reason, rather than needed to. And John Carpenter was so angry at that. They're so angry. That's not what he envisioned at all.

But that's the whole film. The whole segment of Washington, quite recently, it just feels like it's a big off-ship with me at somebody here. We need to do it again. And rather than come up with a seagull, it's more like an add-on.

So, it just continues on the same aspects. And we've got all the actors in again, which is great. But, as I say, the continuation of it, and it just feels drawn out and it doesn't feel suspenseful or anything. And it's a horror film, like a sassata.

It probably is fun, because there's also interesting deaths. The maid, we love to story when Lory's being attacked and she's in hospital and the border keeps on coming in and he tells her about it's like, where there she's just being stabbed and attacked. She's not going to be trusting anyone. So, it doesn't make any sense, such as being quite friendly.

I just said that Halloween two is not something on my radar. Like, I wouldn't even, I wouldn't go back and watch it again. I've watched it once. It was such a slow burn.

Like, everything was just sort, slowly cleared out. And then to reveal that Michael and her brother and sister, to be honest, I get where they're coming from. I do. But, as we know the franchise is right now, like how it is right now up to 2018, like, it's not needed.

Like, it's all, and I love the writing in 2018. Definitely, but as I said, it was more scary, like, the randomness of it, for me. That's what me and Michael, terrifying. And giving them a reason to be a killer is always going to be problematic.

I think it kind of made sense in a way, but then, like, having the flashback scenes of Laurie and Michael in the hospital, and it was like, what's this bullshit? Yeah. But it's quite interesting that, what I was interested as well, because after them two, it's the, like, we'll move on to the third one in a second. They said that was gonna be the end of the Michael Myers story.

And the giveaway, after who played Michael, I've got my best name, got to take home Michael's mask, got to take home without fit. So, that's why, in the later films as well, because they didn't have the original mask to use. The mask changed quite dramatically from film to film, because they didn't have the original one that they had in the first two, which was quite interesting. I put up the other day on the Facebook page, the different masks of Michael Myers, and holy shit, the one from Halloween H2O, when you look at it in comparison to the original, and to what they're using in 2018.

Oh, it's so bad. It's so bad. Michael is played by, because it's Nick Kief, is the original Michael Myers, and that's who you see walking in 2018 as well, because he came back. The one for, I can't even see who is Michael in, oh, Dick Warlock, Grod Dick.

But apparently Nick Castle, that's it, Nick Castle is the original Michael. Yeah, so the person who played Michael in Halloween too, got to keep the mask, and that's why they never got that original mask mask. So that's why it changed. So do I'm having film to film?

But I just think it's interesting that the near this one, because they wanted to make a big moment. But the whole- The whole genre, this is what they do. So they get on a good thing, and they just ride with it. But the thing I did enjoy about it, and I thought it was a good idea in it, again, they shouldn't use it more, was the thing that they used in Halloween one, in the first part of the movie, well, for the first five minutes.

When you see it from Michael's perspective, from the mask, we used it quite a bit in the second one, where Michael's thought in the victims, and it was quite sinister and quite well done. And there was an interesting viewpoint to say it from that. So that was a take that I enjoyed more now, because you got in the mind, but you got into the viewpoint of what Michael saw as well. So that was quite an interesting take, I got from that.

Yeah, I get that. And what was I going to say? I'm just not, I don't want to live for the second one. If I ever go back and watch it now, it's literally one in the 2018 one.

Which is understandable, because the 2018 one has discounted anything that's gone before. And so the original is perfect. This is where I will eat. And the way it works perfectly.

And it was Danny McRise of all people. Like this is not, it was like when John and Peele started doing horror, and I'm like, for each ops, I could not see that for you. Well, they're commenting in horror quite a similar way of length, because it's a two hardest thing to do in movie escape, even when you get left. So it's kind of like on the same type of, you're hitting on the same point, you've got to hit cues, you've got to time in all that aspects, just play a big role in both aspects.

So I kind of get it in that way. Yeah, I said Danny McRide on a amazing job, and hopefully touch both, continues on with the next one. Do you know what though? Even if this film turns out to be a box office disaster, I'm still going to love it.

I'm sitting there, they're in the trailer. The trailer for me just showed too much. I generally believe we've seen every kill in the trailer. Wow, then.

Wow. Currently, what they've said is there's more kills in this film than all the Halloween franchises put together. Get you in a month. But I love that they use the Halloween masks from Season 2, which I was just about to move on to.

So it's a good check here. So yeah, so they are, you're going back to them iconic masks, which I've tried for love and when you get new hands on, you are very expensive. Very, very cool. So what I found to do, and I've got it saved on me eBay, because this room is totally getting decorated out in the next few months.

That bed's going in on me, I'm getting more shelving, because I have so much stuff that I have no room for. But I have found a Halloween 3 with the masks. It's the advertisement for Silver Shamrock. Oh, right.

I like a free impact. Yeah, I think it's like a wooden canvas. It looks wooden. The way I've got that saved, because I want that to replace the really shitty game of thrones.

It's a picture I have. It's, you know what I feel? It feels like it's material. It's like a cloth.

And it's completely, it's so ruined. And I need to put in a free amore. I need to get rid of it. Let's go into Halloween 3, because I love this one.

It's interesting. I know you said about the advertisement, the advertising that I know for Tom's birthday, one of the next good friends, one of the best friends, basically Shasta's done a lot, but a newspaper article from the Halloween with the news about Michael X. Gaming in the corner as well, but Silver Shamrock out there in the corner as well. That's awesome.

And it looked really good as well, but it's amazing how planned this film was. But how iconic it was, because this is probably what I would say is the biggest cult following of the franchise for the stop, because it creatively went on a such a different point of view. And apparently this was the premise for the Halloween films that H1 was going to have its own individual story. So the first Halloween was going to be Michael Nye's, the second one that made it just because of the one to cash in, but then it was going to be linked into Halloween tales.

So it's going to be like a. Oh, right. It's OK. Yeah, so the third one was going to be like, about this company who made these masks, the sacrifices for the pagan gods.

And then that was going to go different routes, but kind of all interconnected as well. But it was so much backlash that Michael Nye's wasn't involved and was missed that that's why it went back to the drumboard to the right, who can't make a Halloween film without Michael Nye's. But the whole business. You got four, five, and six.

True, true. Which I think they'll have the fans in their own rights. But again, this was so out there. This major company had built robots, fucking Android people to run the company.

And I'm laughing about it now. And how they saw a rock from Stonehenge that had mystical powers when switched on could do some weird shit with bugs and snakes and stuff, which I still can't work out today. But it worked so well as a horror film. And it was catchy.

And it was, oh, just in Tom Higgins is just phenomenal in this movie. He's so much fun to watch. And I'm just not been here. It was directed by Tommy Lee Wallace.

But it was produced by John Carpenter and Deborah Hill. So that makes sense with the fact that they wanted it. I love the idea that they would have done Halloween stories. That's such a good concept.

I think it was, again, I'm not sure it was head of its time. If that didn't seem similar to that now, I think it would work a lot more than back then. Because back then, it was during the season, like all the wanted was slashing and dashing. These type of clever different horror films didn't quite work as well in which they are working to a better audience now.

Yeah, look at American Horror Story. It's like, oh my god, that's probably a bum and a zag that we never got back. Because that would have been phenomenal. I only watched this totally, totally blown away by it.

It's got a cult following now. And the following is massive. And when I watched it, I was legitimately blown away about how good it was. And I was like, I just wished that Halloween power was taken out.

Because that's always going to be associated with Michael because of the first and second one. I was telling Chica the same time. It knew it was referenced Halloween, because it was passing when he's in the bar and Halloween's being advertised to be in the set. And then when he's getting put locked in the room to be killed and to put the mass onto it, you go ready for the advert.

Because it was all, I think it was genius. It was all triggered by this advert. That was the most annoying Kijisong, that some beautifully signed up the start of the bar. Thank you.

And then this flashing light of a pumpkin that triggered the someone from Stonehenge, don't know how. Who gives a shit? When he's waiting for his advert, Halloween's playing on the TV when he's kicking it. So it's not going to make it.

It's not going to make elements, it's going so well and so clever. I just think it was too clever for its time. But this was horrific in certain scenes as well. Like when the killer first kicked.

And then Boxtark on it was at CX and the snake spikes his parents. And it's just brutal and uncomfortable to watch as well. Yeah, it's had the one in the end where they're in the room. And the salesmen sold the most masks in the country wide.

And he's got his family there. And he's just what's going to happen, Taitlyn. But yeah. Can you put the side of that Kijo Kildor?

No. I think there's only a thing with you and kids in this. So. It was annoying.

It was so annoying. And the masks in that door, the look of them, the quality looked brilliant. Do you know what I mean? I didn't look like you could tell it was a production line mask.

It wasn't cheap. It wasn't quite the same thing. But the naga figures brought out the three on the witch, the pumpkin and the skeleton as a set. And they could see, I think, the ball from over 100 quid now.

But they were absolutely beautifully done. And I didn't get them at the time. But as a standalone Halloween film, I would put this not up there, but just below the original is good, just because it's a complete new premise and completely different. And it's like chalk and cheese.

I know that they try and bring elements of Halloween 3 into the later Halloween films with the druids and the marvins on Michael Ware. It went batchety crazy. But again, it's horror directors are writers wanting to give Michael a backstory and given reasons. That's not why you scary in my eyes.

But again, I know it's about continuation of a continuity that's the one. Between the films, just to try and link up and maybe sell a little bit more as well. But Halloween 3 has aspects to be a wonderful, called the horror film that I think it would be up there if it was just called The Season of the Witch, rather than The Season of the Witch. I never referenced it as Halloween Season of the Witch.

It's always just Season of the Witch. And I will go back to this every single time I get an itch to watch a decent horror film because it is, it's just fiction. It really is. I think I was going to say.

I'm sorry, do you know what? I've got the songs stuck in my hair. It's taken everything in me not to just burst into a song every two minutes. And it doesn't help that my mouth's mad.

That's right next to me work desk is Silver Shamrock. It's the pumpkin from Silver Shamrock. So that doesn't help. If I haven't got the strictly song, I don't know why.

I always have the strictly song in my hair. If I don't have that, I have. But when you're watching the film as well, it is constantly throughout that film playing. It's so irritating as well, but it gets in your head and it's the years there.

So it makes your little space and it never gets out. Well, once it's in there, it's in there. Because then you'll be going, four more days to Halloween, Halloween, Halloween, three more days to Halloween, Silver Shamrock. Honestly, it's so catchy.

If we're going to be moving on from Season of the Witch, I'm going to be slightly lost off with 4, 5, and 6. Because I have not seen them. But I do know the premise of them, which after learning it today, I'm happy that I've not seen them. I'm all right with that.

4 and 5 came out the year after each other. So it was 1980, it was 1989. So I'm sure you'll help. Well, it was a producer who worked.

They were, I believe, 5, 4. I'm not sure about 5, but I think 4 came out the cinema, but 5 might have went straight over the VHS. But... I know it's definitely dead.

And apparently Halloween, here is to one of it, the cinema either. That went straight to DVD. I'm sure it had a cinema release. We might have been getting a cinema release, but the Americans didn't.

And they even started doing Halloween 6 without a script. You can tell. If you watch it, you can tell. But like I said, just to give an outline, say the premise is, it's 10 years after the events of Halloween, Michael has returned, because it's called the return of Michael Myers, to his faithful friend.

And he's not after Laurie Stewart, but he's after Jamie Lloyd, who is the daughter of Laurie Stewart, I believe. Yeah, you find that out at the end, like that is the big reveal that she is Laurie Stewart's daughter. Yeah. Okay.

We don't know where Laurie Stewart is, but anyway. And it's played by this really, really good little girl. It was a fan of, which might be a great question. It is the amazing Danielle Harris.

I know she, I've seen clips of her, and the reason, do you know who else was up for that role? No. It was between Danielle Harris and Melissa John Hart. Oh, God.

For the franchise, you got the better of the two. Danielle Harris, I've only ever seen her in Urban Legends. She's the golf girl. Yeah.

In Urban Legends, which she is a huge screen queen. And she got it because of her range of emotion. For a young child, she could do everything. And that's the reason she got that role.

With this one, again, it followed basically the story line of Halloween one, where Michael is chasing, well, Halloween two, shall we say, she's an relative and one into, and he's living in it, and then he's showing here. And it all leads back, to bring up back a few paragraphs. Dr. Loomis is going nuts.

He has a lot of power over the police force. I don't know why they're there, but I'm not sure if they're listening to him, rather than the one sheriff's. And when Michael Myers comes and dis decimates the police force, a vigilante mob decides that he's not going to be killing anyone anymore. So you've got that aspect running around Crazy Town, but it is not one of the worst ones.

I'll be honest, number four is not one of the worst Halloween films. It's probably the middle of the road, but again, it's because it's still quite, like, it's on par with the story line. It doesn't quite jump the shark yet as it is in Halloween five, which again follows Michael's rampage to get his niece, Jimmy Lloyd, who now can't talk for some reason, because of the shock and trauma of the wonderful, but again, the big shock for which they don't really go into on Halloween five. At the end of Halloween four, Jimmy is when Michael's outridge as a child, kills, kills, kills his stepmother.

Yes, I've seen the pictures of that. Yeah, but then Halloween five, it's kind of like all forgiven. There there it goes. Yeah, the daughter who, whose mother was killed is visiting Jimmy and her father.

He's visiting Jimmy and her husband, giving a hug, saying, yeah, he's so glad of here, but Jimmy's like now can't talk, so she's lost her voice, because of the trauma, and Michael's being brought back to live by druids, all being kept to go to my druids. And Michael's again going on the ramp here, she's chasing down, the kill camp goes up a bit more, and people don't really learn, they know all those people in Michael Mysmask and the go to parties and people dressed up as Michael Mys and almost get shot. That might be four again, but these two kind of merge into one. But at the end, this is like, like, a ridiculous part, of doing all the damage themselves, and if I'm caught, I think, yeah, Michael can't do any more damage, then a druid comes in with a machining gun and shoots all the place and kidnaps Michael and Jimmy.

Okay, the way you're saying this, I want to go and watch that? I'm telling you, I'm telling this. So, it's bordering ridiculous, but again, you take yourself out with that aspect of realism and think this is a moving, this is just silly, but yeah, so the end ends with the police cells and the police station shot a bit by a machining gun, druid and Michael and Jimmy disappears, and then will lead into Halloween six, which completely fucking jumps the shark. for the jumps the shark.

It starts off with Jimmy, Jimmy all grown up now having a baby while being in captive of the druids. Guess who the baby's that is? Oh my god it's Michael Layers isn't it? Yes, I'm going to have to watch them now.

This one wasn't released in the UK, Halloween 6 didn't UK of LA so it was only in the United States. I think it might come out in day to day a few years later but we didn't originally get this one. This is one that's the wonderful Paul Rudd who actually isn't the worst thing in the film. He's acting in his strange but it's definitely got a Paul Rudd role that you remember.

I did not know until the day that was in it. I think our revisited thing was last week and I realized but again Michael Layers' house and guess who's living in Michael Layers' house? The storod family. Why the fuck would you live in that house?

Oh my god there's so many bad positions in this set in these movies mind. Michael's original house is no one by the storods and his mother. Is that just a massive fuck you from the storod? We're not fucking scared of we're gonna live in your house.

But one of the sons is crazy thing. The sons get is a true that Michael might have lived in our house because someone tells him in school and said we're there. You live in the heart field where Michael killed everyone and you're the storod family who he targeted. You don't know who they live there so it's absolutely borders over the digglers but it makes it hits the storod father who's abusive to his daughters and to his wife so that's he is.

They want him to die as quickly as he comes on the screen and the premise is Jimmy escapes from the clutches of the druids because they're going to sacrifice the baby to Michael. I don't know why to do with the baby. The big doctor looness as well who's suddenly recovered from being burned alive and hasn't got a scar on his face anymore which is completely weird. Which I know so apparently four and five and six don't reference to but Donald came in and had a scar on his face in four and five.

So it had to reference what happened then. Honestly it's like the door it's like the just don't give a shit or generally that's stupid and just forget about it. I couldn't even have tried so Jimmy escapes with the baby gets killed by Michael and hides the baby who Tommy Doyle mysteriously is the only one that can find the baby because he's obsessed with Michael. If runs in the hospital with the babies they'll need help, finds Dr Loomis then runs away with the baby because the place is coming after him because he's batshit crazy and I don't know the relative but I know she's a storod which is probably like a cousin or once removed of Laurie Storod as got a son as well and a son's getting influenced by voices and turning him into so you think he's going to be all stabby stabby as well but it's just nuts.

It's absolutely out there. Sounds it. It sounds of me as a naturally the way you saw it there is generally me and we want to go and watch it. And if you want to go and watch it, it's honestly.

It is and again I don't want to give spoilers because I know my people will come up with my knowledge because it's not one of the ones where a lot of people have seen but the end of it is out in the 90s if the hunting is not on them but the end of it is like Tommy Doyle versus Michael Myers and he's injecting him loads of shit and then Michael slowing down and he beats and beats Michael to death with a pipe and then walks out with a swagger and he's like yeah I'm just like Michael Myers asked them when you go back Michael Myers's master's just lying there Michael's gone and that's the end of it. Fucking hell. Yes so that was the ending of actually then Michael Myers movie shall we say. So funny.

Yeah Netflix has literally just put them all on today. As of the first of October all the Halloween movies are on there. I don't know if the putt was they did have the 2018 one on there and then removed it. I don't know if the re-put it back on again but I know I'm not definitely four and five is on and one is on.

I don't know if two and three are but I know four five and six possibly are. But then again I know we're breaking touch on them. We'll let into shall we say the screen Halloween film because it was just the direct revolve of screen. So there's a thing I did generally love this at the time and there is still some parts of it like that I really I really enjoy and especially Janet Lee being in the movie and there's so many references to her character and cycle like the name.

Her name is Norma. That's the name of Norma Bitter's mum. The car she drives is marrying in Korean's car right down to the registration number is her car. I just I love the fact that Janet Lee and Jamie Lee got that because she died not long shortly after it.

So I do love the fact that she got that but Jamie Lee has said that she had to sign on to two movies. Yeah. That was because they wanted to use that Halloween resurrection. She really did not want to do that movie.

You can tell. Really did not want to do it. She could see where the franchise was going. It's not enough for them just to do one.

Yeah. I think with Kich Duol, I think we'll move on to the resurrection show. We see that in a moment. Going back to H.

Duol, I know I've been a little bit with a little bit with the screen rip off which I believe Kim Williamson did have a big part of it. I don't know if you directed it. It just felt in that genre. That's what horror was at the time.

It was that teeny slattery 90s feel like it was it was always it felt within the late 90s early 2000s. It was always going to have an element of screaming there. Yeah. I did have a decent cast.

As you mentioned, the kid from Jumanji played a good role. I'm not the biggest fan of Michelle Williams. Well, Kim, she wasn't too annoying in this film. Jimmy Curtin's did return and do well.

L.L. Kich Duol was actually quite fun in this film as well which I never thought I would say. Yeah, I was just saying hello Kim. It was actually quite fun in the role as well and done quite well.

And I think we used the 90s after all that was Josh Harnet quite well. Yes, they did. Even though he has this inflicting it's an inflicting thing that certain actors have and it's called dumb face. And so there's a lot from dumb face.

He has a lot of dumb face in this movie and he has it. He has it throughout that movie dumb face. I thought it was good. Even though he's hair style kind of irritated us because it was always not too tiny, not too messy but it was not a weird way.

It was always taking up the rap. It was like a ball of cut wasn't it? But the kills in this one was always quite interesting. And as I said, I thought the ending was going to be the end when you saw Jimmy because he was taking the swipe with the axe and you saw Michael's head flying off.

You thought he can't come back from that guy. Yes, he can. So the beginning part where you've got Dr. Loomis giving you a rundown basically of Michael Myers because you've got to think this is potentially hitting a new audience of people who may not have watched the first one or even up to like six, not watching any of them.

So it's Dr. Loomis giving you a rundown of the Michael Myers story. That's not Donald Peasant. No.

That is not his voice. Obviously Donald Peasant's badly passed away. That voice is done by Tom Kean. So it's completely different.

The music in this is completely different to what we know of the Halloween score that John Carpenter must have put together. But this is only things that we pick up when you get heavily involved in a franchise and you start watching YouTube videos upon YouTube videos that have facts about facts. Which I guess is one by the way. Superbration.

But yeah, the next one we moved into as you said Jimmy goes did not want to do this. He was killed off pretty quickly in the movie. The explanation even though I actually quite bored into the explanation of how Michael survived how he's head chopped off. That was done quite well.

He was a cheap builder. Yeah, so this he done the whole time sort of my outfit with a paramedic routine and I saw off when no one was watching what Michael was talking about. The good old switcher, the good old switcher room. Yeah, she generally did not want to do this but she was contracted.

This is how much she didn't want to do it. The movie poster is Laurie Strod from the Halloween H2O movie poster. Yeah. Didn't even do a new picture for her.

That is her from the H2O one. And this is what got me because LL Cool J was, I thought he was brilliant in it. I just think he was funny, he was like harder. It's just he was the relief you need through tension.

Live live life, right? We got a really good rapid to come in and do it. Let's do it again. But bring somebody else in.

Let's go kuleo. Wasn't it? You've got the wrong one? It was time.

Oh, you just went on walking streaming on that. Oh my god. Wow. I was on a really good point as well.

Yeah, you were. Oh my god. It's the whole Doug John's to Bradley all over. The one thing you didn't want to get wrong, but yeah, we supposed to rise.

Yeah. So who thought that was the idea? I'm sorry. It's not good in that movie.

But this one, they're trying to bring Halloween, they're trying to meet a bit too clever as well because they went to all that to bring my Instagram internet. Yes. So this is what I want to get into because this is what I learned today. They were technically on the forefront of fan footage.

So you've got to think of player which had come out and there being other fan footage movies following on from player which where there was always a cameraman. Like for all this fan footage, there was always technically a cameraman. There's always someone holding the camera. In this one, they had the actors being the camera.

Yeah. And it was like it was the forefront of found footage. Like that's that was the advancement in found footage. And I just remember Tyra Banks is in this film.

Yep. Honestly, if my camera was on the verge of falling, it smashed my face into my body. No, but it's strange because this doesn't feel like I don't think they have the budget from here to work because they should always look like a horrible and looked well me. This one was shuttly put together.

And again, the premise was that the Ray Jig-Dook cameras and had actors going in, like they tried to make like a reality TV show going into the Michael Maya's house and like on Halloween night and then find out like things like Michael living there for years under boards and stuff eating rats and stuff again, giving him a backstory that he didn't need. And then became pissed off that these people were in his house and decided to go on a rampage. So that was the whole premise behind resurrection. But to be honest, this was one of the lore points I would even put this below any of the ones that we've discussed before, that really should be like the honey ones.

This one was a door. It took itself too serious as well. Though that was my issue with it. Absolutely.

And the concept of it, though, would I think would work, not within the Halloween franchise, but the concept of it, which I think would work nowadays. It makes certain things. I think the other ones like Ray Vincammas or we've got a paranormal activity team going into a haunted asylum and film it and things going wrong. That kind of thing works.

But with Michael Maya's, doesn't need that type of hobby. Just put one around page, just give him a target. That's what worked out the second one. The 2018 one, it didn't went right.

We're not going to be too clever. Michael Maya's gets out of asylum, goes right. I want to kill some shit and just goes on a straight line. Don't over-complicate.

That's as simple as it needs to be. They didn't mean, I don't think it made its money back. It really 12% on run tomatoes. I suppose they didn't got that to be fair.

I know. I have only ever watched it once. And obviously you're going to, if you're a horror fan, and obviously a massive fan of the slash of franchise and Michael Maya's, you are going to watch it. But regardless of what anyone's, you are going to watch it.

So if only ever watched it once, that is enough. That's enough. Very much agree. Very much agree.

So after this, because I think I killed the franchise for a few years, they decided to have this brilliant, mere idea of rebuilding the franchise, starting from scratch, this band and anything that's gone before. I'm using the Mears and Horror Director. I'm being very sarcastic, Rob Zombie, to give his flair and take on the Halloween, which I know it's been two films. I kind of lately got a sequel.

I've watched the first one. I've refused to watch the second one. So I know nothing about the second one, because the first one violently made me unreason to the point where I watched it just out of shape, spider me self-advocacy. I've only ever seen Halfway through the first one in turn it off.

It was trash. I love Rob Zombie though. And I've said this before on the podcast. When Rob Zombie goes off and does his own stuff, he is a genius.

I know House of a Thousand Caulters doesn't get a good reputation, but I love it to a certain point. Devil's Rejects, Three from Hell, he is good at him. But when he when he stepped into this world, it just didn't work. Now he contacted John Carpenter and John Carpenter gave him his blessing and went, Oh my God, go for it.

Make it your own. You do you. Put your stamp on it. You've got my blessing.

Rob Zombie then goes on an interview and says he was very cold. He did not like my ideas. He did not like this. And John Carpenter was like, Bitch, please.

I was more than happy. They had a massive falling out over this because he was like, I was more than happy. I told you to go and run with it. And anyone say shit like that?

John Carpenter was falling. Just sort of it out now. But he was not happy with his response because he said I was not. I'm still not forgetting Rob Zombie for the whole idea of it.

I don't if anyone watches the original Halloween film, you know why it's scary. And for someone to then go in and think, I've got a better idea and a better way of doing it. I know I'll give Michael Myers a tragic childhood and say he was abused. And say that's why he decided to become a mute and become like having killing animals and stuff.

Just make them pure evil. Get them that essence. And then just again being Rob Zombie, it had to be the most brutal and violent thing ever, which I don't know if it's a horror film, but you don't need to go to the links it has. It did.

And to the point where I know in Halloween too and stuff like that, the mask and everything started getting disfigured. And again, I can't really talk too much about Halloween too because it's a film I've never watched. And I'll be honest, I will never go back to it because I'm not going to be saying I will enjoy it. Yeah.

The kid in the first one is not even in the second one. When they do flashback scenes, it's somebody else. Yeah. The kid in the first one is not the same in the second one.

Obviously, Sherry Moon Zombie had to be involved. I think I'm in the joke the other day. If Rob Zombie was to bring me a chore, she would do Sherry Moon as George the Shock. So I love her though.

I am a huge fan of that woman, but I do get where people are coming from. Like she does get used to lost by her husband. I'm just looking forward to seeing who she's going to be in the monsters because she knows she's got a... It's just Lily, that would be the worst casting of the world.

Yeah, she's not Lily Monster at all. She's not sweet as a night. He's not. He's not.

Like, Baby Five-Life is one of her more iconic roles and I love her as that. I have never... Actually, I owned the Rob Zombie movies. Never watched them.

I watched the best part, like, about 20 minutes and turned it off. Yeah. Oh, keep me. I was a little excited when I said that we were able to reboot in Halloween and I thought, oh, what can't we do?

Because it's a slash film. You're going to watch it? Yeah. It's when they've all the complicated things and they're trying to be too clever.

Again, I know I didn't touch on one of the elements we left about before in Halloween Five. Is Michael has a psychic link to Jimmy? And she can see what he's doing before he's making a kill someone? That is so funny.

Yeah, that's fine. I got a kill. That is so funny. A psychic link?

So again, it's movies about killers and unstoppable things. But people try and add layers and add extra things to it. It doesn't need to be there and that's why. Again, I know we've talked about a few guys, what I would say is probably up there with the original Halloween 2018.

It was done in a way with respect and the original material. It didn't over-complicate it. It went right. Michael's on a path.

This is the path he's going on. There's no special things. He's just basically, he might be evil personified. And I like the whole aspect where like, well, we should all become a recluse.

Because you would, after that experience? Yeah, so yeah, you would. Trauma is going to have an effect and it turned her into an absolute warrior. Are we in the 2000s?

Sorry, I was too busy. I've been moved on from Rob Zombie. I can't talk about Rob Zombie anymore. I don't want it to be a negative podcast.

No, no. So the 2018 one, like, did we see this coming? We did not see this coming at all. This was so exciting.

This is like when horror started to pick itself back up again and just its shoulders and start to move forward into what horror is now. Like the fears we're in of horror and this fits in there perfectly. And what was that? Animated relationships realistic as well.

That was the thing. Because a lot of the, like, my big book there was my horror films. It's when, like, tragic things happen. It don't kind of react.

It just moves on. Megalwood normally. This was the first film. Because of the next film and the best friends being killed or attacked.

And I'm probably sure never got all of that attack from Megalwood. So she that then bled into her family, her daughter, her granddaughter. And how they raised her daughter. Like, say, a daughter who was clearly, I think I mentioned this podcast before.

Yeah, we probably bought all the ground that we've covered before because it's Judy Graves just amazing in this. And I love the fact that they confirmed that they're not brother and sister. Yeah. Out loud.

They are not brother and sister. And at that moment, you were like, get in. Yes. That's what we want to be.

Yeah. And I love the group. So you've just taken a mouth. Yeah.

I can't just get in too close. Can we do it a thought? Sorry, Judith. Oh, I love the fact that Judy Greer wore a Christmas jumper.

Oh, Judith Myers, may she rest in peace. And I love the fact that she wore a Christmas jumper as Halloween. She is so traumatized by how she was raised. She's trying to, like, neglect Halloween completely.
