Hey everyone and welcome to another episode of the Nerdy of North Podcast, Internary Podcast hosted by two northern nerds and one of your horse Sam. And I'm the horse Paul and we're joined by just partly part of the team now. Just kidding. Team.
Team. Whoa, that's me. Sorry. Yeah.
Yep. Just part of the team and next year now just pretty much getting amongst them to seem to be really enjoying us with a lovely Charlotte. Charlotte! Hello.
Oh, how's everyone today? Everyone all right? I'm going to be delusional. I need this today.
I need some ball of therapy today and this is just perfect. And if you don't know, this week's episode is all about the Wizard and World of Harry Potter. Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo. I was wondering when the first time the next was going to come in, which that's a couple of minutes.
So that's the copyright claim of the window, it's straight away. I was wondering if there's no chance you were getting anything from this corner or is the minute they say Harry Potter or Wizard of Antastic Beasts we've done for. Yes. So that was a.
So yes, we are tittinets to Harry Potter and again very excited. Like so you have Harry Potter is a big part of me like so me. I'm a grown up. I was probably like so I grew up when Harry Potter came out which was probably as an adult.
like taking us back to each other, feeling like a child again, which probably makes sense. But yeah, I know, like, eventually it wasn't just generally anyone that was in the Harry Potter as well. So a bit of a connection there. So yes, so Harry Potter does have a special place in my heart there.
So before we do get into it and it's like really into the discussion, Sam's got a disclaimer because I would know this has become a bit of a controversial subject, shall we see it? Hasn't it just an I thought I always do, I always do a disclaimer and we always end up saying it backwards to what I've actually looked down. But today I'm going to read the reaction what I've said. So before we get into this round table discussion, it's important to say that this talk will only be about the wisdom of Harry Potter.
We will not be discussing the views and opinions of the author and creator. We have separated it from the talk and we hope that you can do the same. All the opinions brought up tonight, I was alone. If you don't like them, then that's fine.
Just come and join us on the Facebook group or in the comments. But please don't come for us. Let's be kind, keep it fun and keep the talks of behaviour and antagonism. And with that being said, let's get into this week's episode of Harry Potter.
Yes. So again, I know we've touched on Harry Potter in the charity podcast. If you were listening when we did that, it was during the Child Authors and Twent about books that's kind of like transcended or created a wonderful world. With the lovely Jills who brought that topic up and we did have a little bit of time discussing it, but could have spent a lot more which is why this has come about.
So I'm interested to know, because I know I was a resident at the Book Nerd, Charlotte who is in charge of the book about the moment. How did you first get into Harry Potter? Like what was your first experiences and just what do you like about it? I was in, yes, six I think when the first book came out and all my friends were reading it, they were grieving about it and I tried reading it as my book to take on from school to read and stuff and I just couldn't get into it.
It wasn't until a year or two later, I saw the first film and I really liked the film, picked up the books again and couldn't put them down, and then so I kind of read the books at the same time as the films, but I think I caught up with the books quicker than the films came out so I sort of finished it, I finished the books before the last film and I remember my 18th first dimension in the group, my 18th first day party was the day the last book came out. We got to the party and the first thing we did was me, my sister and three other friends, first thing we did was sit down and look at the back page of the last book as a FBI. Did you hear about the people going about in the bookstore line? Because apparently the book got leaked online, I think it was about a month, but it's a few weeks before it actually relates to it.
I think it was in America rather than I was, I know going in people in the queue and telling big spoilers for the last book and people were going mental so I can still remember the news article because people were actually fighting outside Harry Potter books, dressed as Harry Potter, dressed as Dumbledore, dressed as Dobby, they took one big swing in punches. No John Murch, please. If somebody had a spell that probably got punched. I'm going to jump straight in too because I'm intrigued you know and this is all this is my first question whenever I ask anyone of you when you're Harry Potter fan, what house do you associate yourself with?
I don't know, it's a hard one. I've never really looked at it in that depth when it comes to the houses. I've kind of just went through and enjoyed it. I know everyone like Gryffindor is the more popular one because it's like the more heroes and stuff like that but it seems like I've chosen Gryffindor, I mean I choose in Manchester, I get when I was a kid like picking the few things, the team that wins everything.
Such a boy response. Such a boy response. Charlotte please tell me you have something better than that. Mine's pretty obvious I think.
Slytherin. No. The dark side there? I was going to say it's okay if we get to the table that's important.
Football pups. Capsicle pups surprisingly. Rainbow cork? The books of course and football pups.
I am and will always be Slytherin. The golf thing is that. It really is but also my old school had the same kind of housing system and they're all colours as well and the other colours of Harry Potter and I was in Sandcroft because it's all related to Horton where I'm from. I was in Sandcroft, Davenport was red.
That was like the Gryffindor everyone wanted to be in Davenport. I was more than happy to be in Green Sandcroft and that's why I completely gravitated towards Slytherin also Snape and the Malfions and you know there's some cool houses and cool families in there. To be fair I would have probably been kicked out so I would have given a house near my house. With my background, I wasn't the most academic show I had put in.
So the song had to turn your head and just go there? No. I was in a Hagrid shed. I was in a Hagrid shed with Hagrid all the time.
That's a cool job. That would have been the best place though. Exactly. I think that would be me.
Actually I thought I'd go off to the party to go off to the party and go to the party. I just want to give a big shout out to everyone who helped with the charity podcast as well. The money was donated. I handed over the 560 pound to the name now we bring.
The Willows now have had a party I went in and seen the woman who organised it. It was been running the Willows for 50 years. She was called Mary. That's actually was lovely.
And she introduced us to two cast videos. Well one old ginger cat it was lovely and a little spicy kitten. But she said the money that we raised pretty much is going to be paying for all the cat vet builds in the shelter for at least a month. That's amazing.
That's something that we've done there. I should have said that at the start. That's my fault. No, no, it's fine.
It's cat school for Harry Potter I guess. Crookshanks. Crookshanks. Little G.S.
cat in the world. Shuttles. Hi, gorgeous. It's absolutely beautiful.
And I know that Charlotte's touched on her. Get me into what was yours Paul. Pirate video. Probably that's kind of a dodgy but it's not.
Sit in the room with one of the ex-girlfriends. It's called Sarah Richardson I believe. We... We...
Sorry. Sorry. Yeah. She was always like into the boobs and stuff like that.
And me dad brought it in from work. Like say from being a porsey. I think someone takes it back to same car. It was old VHS, not David A.
So we popped it in and it was a cam. So you can saw people walking in front of the screen and it was like every move in whenever you can. Probably someone couldn't see what you were doing. But yeah, I watched it and I see the characters.
And again, the first film is always strange because it is quite kiddified. But it was quite nice and like said delved into like an area that I was always interested in. Like I say the mythology and stuff. And it was quite a good little gateway.
And then after I watched that I picked up the books and I literally read the books and bought them on like say what I said. Because when I said this I was trying to down the Manchester like pretty much all the time. So I read them. I mean you're only to back and forth from Manchester.
So that was always my little entry into the world of Harry Potter. So I just had a memory flashback when you were talking about going down Manchester. I actually had Stephen Fry reading me the books. Oh right.
There was a period of time at work where I didn't call Handel and I was literally doing data entry from putting five numbers into a machine into a computer and doing that continuously for eight hours a day. So Anne's got his it was very early on in the iPod. Diers and managed to sneakly download the books onto me iPod. And just to point out as well us Northerners on all don't you.
We do actually care for Conant as well. It's just it's easier there. Yes exactly. And he goes there.
Six twice now we mentioned pirate coins. We're from a scumbag. So yeah he got his he got his and he hadn't even probably read them to us. But honestly I cannot remember any of it.
Like not one inch of it. And I'm asked for the books of Christmas. Because like I said before we came on here I am literally riding this Harry Potter train at the moment. Like I am on it.
I went in recently with Caroline. I meant to go to that Edinburgh Convention. You know the comic convention of our cancels. Well we decided to just go up anyway and honestly it was an absolute awakening.
Like I saw like everything's all very Harry Potter being they actually roached the last book in a cat that's there. It was the elephant cuff. Yeah. Yeah.
On it we walked past it above all the grass of it and the smell still there. The burning smell it was so sad. And then we walked to the graveyard where the majority of the cast is inspired from an absolute friend of Tom Riddle's grave and and Gonigal who right so Professor McGonigal is amazing. The name is taken from a port who was deemed the worst port ever.
We fell though. I think that I just went through the names of the four. I thought these names sound much more second. Oh definitely.
Yeah. Must have because she didn't do our research on that one. And I saw them Potter. And I think there's a couple others there as well.
It's fantastic honestly but it's just a way in something and it's like I went to every Harry Potter sort of pop cup. I've got me on Slytherin badge that's on the fridge that I got from the Mampathol93 quarters. Yeah. My port and the Hufflepuff one to go over this.
So we had like our houses on the fridge and that person. And so I taught the week and remember my first experience is in the cinema. With my sister on her very first date. Her very first boyfriend.
That's a bit uncomfortable. Absolutely awkward. Yeah. But it was at the Tameez and the first one.
I still love it. I know the kids are neither crowd. I think they do. Everyone goes to the kids.
They get better. I think they would definitely do. They would definitely cast for the looks. And they would see what and how they looked and everything like that.
But if we're talking about places where we visited to experience the Harry Potter. I've been to one or two. They're the one in Durham. The same way that it seems that was from the Durham Cathedral is always a reason.
York's always a good one. But nothing will ever be the two places. I was like I was at the good one which was when Harry Potter worlds in Harry Potter studio. Sorry down in the world.
I showed you how it was made and you see all the different scenes. You see the Ministry of Magic and everything's just done. It's crazy because it's just done in sections. So you think of these big buildings, what's literally these sections?
That was a good experience. And one I enjoyed and I would always recommend anyone who loves Harry Potter to do. Even if it's just like a stop on a tour and stuff. It's quite cool to see.
Because before you go in you see a little cup of Harry lived before you. Because everybody was at the Derces. But the best one in Florida Harry Potter worlds. I've been both one at Answiv adventure and the one at the University of New York.
Where the Hogwarts express. So the leaner each of that. Yeah, but that's big. Yeah, because the build the new parts a little bit later.
So Harry Potter where you go down Diagnally and go to the Knee Dukes and the three whole shoes. And you lead up to the Hogwarts as the main ride. But the other side where the other side where it's all going back. And I've got a great escape and sort of dragging on the building up and all that.
Actually just to sing it. Like you feel that he's. But the thing that makes a little bit magical as well. Because it's two parks.
Really you've got to have two tickets to do it. But if you've got the ticket that takes you to both parks. You can get on the Hogwarts express. So you go in the sea, you see all the places like on the boards.
It's like London's Kings Cross. You should park to get to walk through. And then you go sit in the trail. And then the blinds come down.
And it's like a cinema. Like the windows are like cinema screens. But they're done. They can't notice.
So they start freezing up. The demand is. And the demand is shadow. And then on the window on the side.
The chopper flogs jumping on the window. And he's going to climb up the window. And it takes about 15 minutes just for the performance. And when you stop, you're at the other park.
I can't handle that. Oh, that's pretty easy. So that was worth it. Yeah.
That was worth it. Worth any type of moments. Like they're just being into a touch. Yeah.
Like you think America takes it to the 90s degree. Like we would never take it that far. Like if we like all the thousands of it's good. But they recreate everything like the post room.
When you go into the post room, like if you look in the rafters, there's owls. There's owls like the moon cause animatronic. So and they're covering it like white games. So it looks like owl po.
Yeah. And then they've got the animatronic book, like the book of monsters. So it's in a cage. And if it just looks, it's sitting there like breathing.
So you think it's safe? I think that's it. If you get to, of course, it rushes a cage. I guess.
Oh my god. I've watched hundreds of videos on it. They will never be seen it with your own eyes. I'm going to see it.
Yeah. When am I falling? When am I falling? Not too years time.
And I'm going to Los Angeles with Carolyn. And that's one of the one place. There's a couple of things I want to do because Los Angeles is like my puppet list. And Harry Potter is definitely going to be one of them.
You're probably able to hear his cry. From there when I get in there. Because I'm going to be hysterical. Have you heard the stories about all of Andes as well in Florida?
Because you're cubed away. You're PFE one. Because it's the buy one. But it doesn't, you don't just go in and buy one.
You're wearing the kitty. Like a full experience. You're going to shop by yourself. Uh huh.
All the lights flash. And the one comes out right? Oh my god. I mean, I'm so true.
And then watch about the one. It's about a sensor on. So you can walk around the park. Is that what's in the?
And you wave at different things. And like the cauldrons move. And the things across the windows, like all the shops. I could all interact with it as well.
Oh my god. I cannot honestly. I'll just cry the whole time. I'm there.
I'm going to be an absolute emotional wreck. And I have to say though, what would be your worst thing? I've ever tasted in my life. Carolin says it's a big questionable.
It's just a case of American cream soda. But no. So I've got a recipe for whatever you have to do. It's amazing.
So many times. So many times. It's amazing. Yeah.
I'll probably be quite disappointed with the American one. Yeah. Because they sell two things. Like when you're in the thing.
Because they've got big, because within Florida you have to drink all the time. So they've got the butter beer. So you've got a nice cup that you get in. Or the pumpkin juice.
And pumpkin juice sounded awful. So I always would know where they're at. That's right. But the butter beer you've got, oh, I'm going to try but just here.
It's like American cream soda. But you feel sorry for the people who are there. Because I know I'm like, sort of casting stuff. But they're dressed in full Harry Potter robes.
Yeah. In the heels. Oh, the poor boogers. I always felt sorry for the people at Anakin who walked around all day in Harry Potter robes.
And that's Anakin. Yeah, but that's the cold. I'd say, in Florida. We had the weather full of garbs and everything.
In York, the shop that must not be named. When you apply for the job, you've got it, one of the requirements is you've got to tell them what house you're in. And I signed a character out and I gave it in their costume as a uniform. Or you get your house uniform as a uniform.
I'm looking for a career change. It's a bit of a commute. Yeah. I'll take it.
Again. Talk about Florida as well. Did you ever speak to any of the people who worked in the Disney parks and asked them how they got the jobs there as well? I had to go first.
No, no, no, no, no. Harry Potter won't take the one second in general. No, no, no, no. We got stories.
I'm not like asked very directly. Because when we did, because we were like talking, because it was a British girl there. And basically, if you were in a Disney store for over 10 years, like what they did, they gave you an option to work in the Florida park for a year where you didn't really get paid. But you got like free room and boards.
And you got work in the Disney park for a year. Well, you can't do that now because it wasn't so bad. Yeah. I don't know how true that was.
What's serious? That's what they told us. Like, because we're actually doing it through here, but that's what they said. But I wonder if it was same with like the Harry Potter ones.
I know the Florida parks full of all the field actors and actresses and stuff like that. Is the Harry Potter world full of like Americans with really bad English? I was just going to say the same thing. I was going to ask the same question.
No, but I'll tell you what, I did try to ignore when it comes to the Christmas time. You got to acquire that thing. It's like, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. I'm trying to try to get that live quiet thing and that need the Hogwarts hassle.
With the frog don't know. The other frog. Yeah, the frog. The other frog.
It's just another toilet. It's just like having a bit of a thing. But they do it in the 90s. Even when you're waiting in the queues, when you're waiting to go on the Hogwarts ride.
That's a big one. You get to walk around Hogwarts. You see, like, see the classrooms. You see going with those offices.
You walk through the garden to initially things. You see all the Mandarin being pulled out. But it's just an experience. We went in September time.
And again, we're probably going to get in trouble for this. We always used to fly around September 11th, because it was cheaper. Never even thought that was an option. I would do the same.
America flights on cheap. Yeah, so you've got to place a little bit cheaper around about that time. But yeah, so there was no queues. Because it was hurricane season as well.
So then you could stop an hurricane. Yeah, that was on the honeymoon. Yeah, so that was true. Yeah, I remember that.
I'm not laughing at it now. Like, it's not funny. Of course, we'll have about an hour. The time when I do three parks in 1D, otherwise we're going to miss.
So when you walk in one park, you walk in 10 miles. So it's done about 30 miles of walking back here. I remember messing with either you one nick at the time, because he's a whole bunch of people were telling. I was like, oh my god.
Yeah. I've generally been all sorry for him at the same time. I'm kind of jealous, because he got to watch American TV. And American adverse, I'm a mason.
I love him. So I talked about the hurricane, so I tried. It was hilarious, because all the American news reports were putting it. This is going to be people who are going to kill.
If you're seeing on the streets, you'll get shot, or you'll get arrested by the police. Thanks. And the weather we had two nights ago, a few nights ago, when that was worse than the hurricane. I literally didn't.
There was a bit of a wind. And all, probably in some areas, it was worse. But we had the wind on, like, the Disney parks down and everything. But the next year, I closed all the bars.
So it would only have my horse in the Scottish. I got British in the Scottish. English in the Scottish people walking up and down the street. Because it's not given cookies.
So it's not that bad. So all these bars and stuff were just trying to get the staff back into it. No, for us, because, like, I thought anyone was going to be there. But yeah, it was an experience.
Sorry. Oh, yes. Oh, it's glasses, glasses, glasses, glasses. Stories?
And right, I'm going to get into the nitty gritty now. Nitty gritty. Who is your favourite character? You can only have one.
Just one. And it's very hard because there's a lot of amazing people in there. But favourite character. Favorite character in the book was probably Sremas.
I think Sremas, yeah, see, I'm in the book. I'm in the book. Actually, in the book, my favourite character was Ginny. Ginny.
I've heard amazing things about her from book series. Well, I like to see the, like, in the movies. She's nothing in comparison. Oh, no.
Oh, I can't. I'm going to meet her. In the later books, especially, it's just, like, say, a little firecracker. But obviously in the movies, I would, again, because I was a software for the afterwards.
So, sorry, sorry. So, serious, serious, serious. So yes, Gary Walden and Sirius was done perfectly. He was just like, he wasn't a book as well.
But I always had to talk to him. I remember, like, say, it was always so kind to Harry and the books. And he kind of gave the connection between Harry and his father as well. And that was, like, quite a special moment.
Um, I'm sorry. I think if, if the, if that, if Remus had been in the films, like, he wasn't a books, I think I still think David Lewis was actually perfect. Perfect. Yeah.
I can't compare, like, I can't do the comparison that you just kind of, but I just think as impacted the man's brilliance. Yeah, absolutely brilliant. And what he brought as a movie side of it, I thoroughly enjoyed and would have loved to see more, I don't see any relationship more with Tonks. Yes.
That is very, oh, like, not, it was, it was nothing really like that. Hall, we haven't announced, not now. It's hard. It's not, because I've heard their relationships.
It's hard breaking in the books. It's hard breaking in the books. And it's really glossed over in the films. Yeah.
That was one of my favourite parts in the books as well. Like, especially the last bit, I know, again, we'll, we'll get onto it a bit more when we talk about, like, the films, like, what were, what didn't work in such much. Yeah. And then characters didn't quite get the justice or, like, the line, like, they did, but it's impossible to do that.
So it makes you want the books. Like, I'm guessing that, I guess Sam's was probably a sniper mile for your snip. Always. I always, I just, I can't, I don't have what you have when I can compare, but you know what, the more you talk about it, the more I'm getting so excited to read these books.
And we're not the only ones like my friend Amy, who is a huge Harry Potter fan, like her cat's a cool friend, George, a huge, huge, huge Harry Potter fan. And she read the books and she was like, Sam went until you meet Jenny. Yeah. Wait until you read the male Jenny, because you are going to absolutely love her.
She's like, I can't wait until you read the half-blood prints. I can't wait until you do this. And she's like getting so hamptops of you, like, elevating the Hamptons. Hey, diner.
But yeah, it's nip. Always. And the character is so complex. Even more so in the books.
Yeah. Oh, I understand. He really is. Yeah.
You're falling in love with Snape so much more with the books. Mm-hmm. What was the, what was the difference in Snape's books? Like, like book to movie?
Is there much difference or is it, it's just elevated higher? I think it was. Is it a bit amplified in the books? Like, I think I like, I like, I like, I recommend, but letting Alan Rickman be, that's like, over there.
Cause I, like, so he always felt a little bit constrained in the films. He was, like, he was like, held back a little bit. But in the, like, there's certain ones where you just feel pure rage and anger from Alan Rickman when it comes to, like, especially when he's interactions with Harry. And so he always knew he was going to be playing, as a, as a couple of films, he was going to play a huge part.
And that was always going to be the big reveal, like, the Snape aspect. But at times it pulls you all up, that's because you hate them. You love them. And.
Stipathise for the morning, I think. Certainly. But again, two of the characters you mentioned before as well are, get a better treatment of the book as well. The twins.
Yeah. Fred and George. Fred and George. Yeah, get so much more.
And absolutely their turn and point. Like, I know in the, in the movie when you say it's, when they're leaves go. Mm-hmm. In the books, you cry while laughing.
You absolutely, honestly, it's one of the best things that experiences reading that was, any other. Absolute chaos in the books. Like, it's quite tame in the film compared to the books. So that exit scene that they made is just.
It's all chaos. Like, I think in the, in the films, they're not is, they're not as, like, little causes, which trouble is they doing the books? No, they're not. That's fun, boy.
They're obviously already doing the other. Yeah, they're kind of like just background or, like, say, side characters, but in the books, they're very much at the forefront. And anything that's going on, like, not, like, especially with Pete's. Just, like, say, Pete's with him.
He's just even caught out with the book. Like, the only way of course he uses nearly had his neck. But Pete's and nearly had his neck kind of bounced off each other and caused so much shit. Like, Pete's would have been perfect as Rick Meill.
That would have been perfect. Well, they filmed the scenes. They filmed the scenes in the cut-down. All right.
The Rick Meill scene in the character. Yeah, there's, yeah, there's, there's interviews on, maybe on YouTube. But if you just look, Rick Meill keeps interviews. There's interviews I'm talking about when he was on set filming, filming the scenes and he was making the kids laugh that much.
They had to cut them because they couldn't get them. They couldn't get them. So they just cut it completely. Oh, that's...
If I can go back to SNIP for just a minute. Because I've got so many questions. That end scene where you find out the truth, that who SNIP really is and the hero that he is. How is that in the books?
Does the movie do that scene? Just because I can imagine that's a huge part of this last part of this book is finding out the man that Harry's always thought is against him was the one who was probably the only one who was rooting for. And like, you know, helping him? Yeah.
I don't like that in the books. Kind of, but my big problem with the last two films, the person was completely off compared to what the book was. Like the book is a big book. And it...
Because the first one, the first one of the Deathly Hallows, part one, is like a SNIP just takes so long to get going. But then in the second half, they're kind of rush everything. And they don't do that in the book. It's not one of the easy...
Like Harry Potter to read, normally is easy and it normally flows. The last book doesn't... Isn't it an easy read? It's more of a difficult one because it's tying up so many loose ends.
Let's take it all over this. Again, I'll probably start the book with a thing I know what I'm trying to do, but probably sort of being in two parts or moved along a bit. But the kind of hit that part well, that the SNIP hits all the right parts. But you've had all the emotional thing for the last two books before this.
But you get SNPs turning point, you start to get more information. And you find out what SNPs relationship with how he's farther than why. And there was that ambiguity. But in the film, because there was justice, but you don't get the impact as you watch when you read the books, if that makes sense.
I think... But the problem was, by the time they got into the last two films, which was the last book, there was things that they'd left out of the previous that they couldn't put into the last two films that didn't sort of flow. Because there was the whole thing in the third one with the Marauders, which they left out with the film that comes back later on. And there was things sort of in the last book that you would go back to, where you couldn't do that in the films, because that makes sense.
I think as far as we should, I think Paul's right, the only two I struggled with was the fifth one. And the last one. There's the fifth one, God, sorry, I just want to order the Phoenix. Order the Phoenix, yeah.
For me, order the Phoenix. This one, it's the last one. It's the longest book, and it is the weakest one. There's a lot in there that you could miss out, and it wouldn't make any difference to the story at all.
Don't say that, that's a very good one. No, it's still good. It's just, it's probably the weakest of the series. There's always a, it's always a, Kelly's here, really, isn't it?
I generally thought that would be the second one, because Chamber of Secrets movie just falls up and soft, maybe. It's difficult because with everything, the floor points would, at that time, especially the first two books, it was still very much in Kid Territory. Yeah. And then I realised that it was getting more out of, audience, and then it gets darker, and we'll get, like, say, some more of the elements that you think was at the time.
The first two books, it was more, actually, the Gwynn and Quidditch a lot more. There's a lot more, there's a lot more, like, the Wiesleys have, like, the family through the books, have more interaction, like, like, you hear them in the films, but you actually detest them in the books, like, Percy? Percy. I know Percy is, I'm sorry for any parents who are watching, but Dick, like, there's a lot of Dick.
Yeah. Bill is, well, Bill has a much, much bigger story in the books. I've heard, sorry. And he's a little...
Dragonsley, a lot of bigger parts. Yeah, but Bill's a lovely character as well. Yeah. But even little characters, like, you see in the film, like, sideways, like, I can't remember his name now, but Hagrid's brother.
Broke. Broke. Broke. He has a bigger part in the books as well.
Yeah. And he plays a part like, quite a big one in the big battle, and it's interesting when he comes through. The house elves? The house elves, yeah.
Like, that was one of my biggest points. You don't get to see underneath the workmen's of Hogwarts, because, sorry, I've discovered he must have spotted because Wiesle is an only house elf in Hogwarts. I had a feeling. I'm honestly, you can't spoil this far as actual, because I know that whatever you say this ball, is going to be another detail that you've missed out, because you can't cover everything.
I've tried to do the YouTube videos of watching about everything, and you just can't take it all in. So I am really, like, I'm really looking forward. I've never been so excited to read a book series, and it's been out for freaking years. Again, the first film introduced the character, that plays a huge part in the latest, in the later books.
What you don't hear from again? I can't remember his name, Descento. Oh, for friends. Do you meet him with an umbridge in the movies that is, in the, you know, when she, you know, when she, you know, when she, you know, she's in the forest.
Yeah. Yes. He's in the first film, very briefly. And then they're in the umbridge, behind the one where it's fifth, fifth film with umbridge.
Um, all of the things, yeah. But yeah, the fifth film with umbridge, very briefly. But in the books, in all, all seven books, there's a massive, like, massive storyline that's, like, revolve around there. Descento family.
What is it? It comes with teacher. The teacher? What?
Yeah. He takes over. Why can't you put that in the film? Yeah, he takes over from, uh, Trilore.
Yeah. And it comes with character. Yeah. He starts out about the, because he, there's a divination, but he tells about the stars.
and he just harry in harmony about the stars. I think, I think, I think in behind missing the centroids out of the books, the film, sorry, was in the books. There's a lot of umbridge hates them, because they're half reeds. Yeah, that's that makes sense.
And that, you know, that sort of leads into a few more real life issues that maybe they didn't want to get mixed up in. Yeah. Well, that's going to lead me. Seeing that name is going to lead me lovely into my next question, is who is the least favorite character?
What do you mean the one that he had, but many of the hits, or the one that I just thought was Dolan Boren? No, not Dolan Boren, because I could then go on an absolute tirade of abuse of Emma Watson and how awful she is as an actress. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. That's not the point of the whole reedger, it's awful.
I'm 100% with you on that one, so that's not true. Oh. He didn't. He didn't.
Couldn't stand her as well. No, I was shocked that Tolerina doesn't. She was. It's Ligardian Levionsa.
She wasn't how I imagined to mind you. Like, how many for me is quite different in the books? I'm pleased you said that, because that's not how I take her with us. No, that's not how I read.
I'm really pleased you said that because I don't want to take her with me. I'm sorry, but that was awful. And she sets my teeth on edge every time she talks. Every look that she gives to Ron is just, it's awkward.
It's just unnecessary. So no, I'm not going to refer to the people that you don't like this. I want to talk about actual characters. Like, who do you absolutely?
There's a blue greeter. There's a movie watcher. Like, who do you absolutely hear? The probably some just like.
There was probably a time when there was a few where I actually couldn't stand. The Llora's umbridge was up there. Umbridge got under my skin. So why?
Yeah, to the point where I felt a bit sick because I mean, is that I'm even watching a reedger. The film was gone. Everything you wanted. I'm out of the store and it's going to smush.
She was amazing. Yeah. Like the genuine point in the book where you're reading it, you get so angry you don't want to throw all the book. No, because the book can't say I'm not going to try that again.
It's like, no, wait, start again. I'm amazing. Um, where I'm here. Where I'm here.
I'm in the book especially is absolutely slimy and again, it does it well. He's well in the film, but in the book, it makes you angry. What is it? I'm actually starting to feel sorry for him for a bit, but then later on, no.
I mean, I can't, I can't obviously, I probably say this quite a lot to this. I can't obviously talk about the books I've been in the movies. He was, he never got me to turn for him. Um, I knew what he did and I knew that he meant it.
And then he would do it again. And he's very selfish. And no, I did not like that aspect of him. On bridges, probably the one I dislike the moors.
I used to really not like the um, what's the guy called who does, it was um, he was older for it in Game of Thrones. Brilliant actor. Filch. Thanks.
Yes, didn't I came to start with? Love the idea of the movies. Yeah. But he was realized, realized he is for Hogwarts.
There's a massive story arch of a film in the books. It's left out of the movies. It's just brilliant. It's just brilliant.
Why, why he is, isn't it? Um, and again, probably in the books, he wasn't, he was mentioned in, in the movie, but we didn't have any other big, was Greyback, The Werewolf. Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Yeah. The Werewolf? So he's in the last three films? Kind of.
I think it was the last two. He was in the Death of the Devil. Oh. He's kind of both lines.
Yeah. Yeah. Right. No, I think I mean, yeah.
Yeah. Um, there's a massive massive, massive, he's a massive part of Remus's and Bill's story arc. Yeah. Bill.
Mmm. Mmm. Yeah. Massive.
Massive. He gets attacked, yeah. It's, it's kind of glossed over in the film at the end, in the last one, isn't it? Yeah, it's not even touched on, but just, let's, let's say the books, Bill's not thinking of it, or basically, staying a bit rare.
Yeah. Do you know what, I feel like I know that, but I kind of got a bit of a shock when you said it. Wow. Yeah.
Is that when they're in, you know, in the last film, not the first part, but they're all doing the Harry Potter change, they're all doing it. In the cottage. And does he kind of bring it, just a little, yeah. I think, I think, Floh mentions it briefly, when they're in the cottage, just after W.D.s.
Floh mentions it briefly in the film. Right. But there's much more to it in the, in the books. Yeah.
Um, as far as characters, you know, I'm really, I think Barty Crouch, Jr., really, Yes. was one in the book, especially. Yeah. Um, because he's the reason why, actually, I'm not mad at my life, but he died as well, isn't it?
