And we are live. Live, hey everyone and welcome to the Nodie of North podcast. Isn't it podcast? And it's hosted by Northern Nodes.
I am Oli Hosam. And I'm the host Paul. And we are joined on tonight's episode by the majestic Jake and the lovely Charlotte, who's meeting a brand return after so long. So I'm not going to surprisingly goth, shall we say?
It looks like she's even turning peeler than Donna. Whatever they do. I think that's really new. You're like beautiful darling.
No, so yes. So this is our grand return to YouTube after trying out Facebook. And that was fucking scary. I'm not going to fucking lie to you.
Back from the weirdest experience. Yes. I was a guy. It was strange.
They feel changed. Different. Yeah, I'm sort of out. So yeah, it was an experience.
Like they didn't give us as much control. And we couldn't really interact with the chat as much as we normally like to do as well. So it probably sounded better without the distraction. But I don't think this type of thing is for Facebook when it comes to like say a long chat.
So if it was like 10, 15 minutes, fair enough, I can say people seeing on browsing on the phones. But no, I think we'll find our home. And this is where we'll probably see it for the rest of our lives. Or just to put it on the five episodes and I get bored of this and tell you stuff off.
So you'll see it. Anything could happen. We are home. And I don't think Charlotte's been here for this moment.
Has she? No, she was here last week. She was here last week. She did.
So how has been? What have you been watching? What have you been up to? Stuff.
Stuff. What's the number of trainers? I'll leave you that way. Because I know everyone is weird to find out.
That is the rip rolling episode. Everyone wanted to see. What have you been watching? What have you been up to?
I'll let the love of the J Corps first. It's been a while. Yeah, I can take this one. I've been definitely influenced by Paul and his love of all things discovery.
And I've started watching Naked and Afraid a little bit. That's just pretty good. You get to see a lot of bare asses just moving around the jungle. Where are the boobs and us?
And the wingers? It won't say the weaves. Yeah. But they just leave the butts, apart from when people bend over, they pick something up.
You don't want to say that. That show is insane. It just goes to show you that if you had to leave outside, you would just be covered in insect mites immediately. Just want to die.
So which ones did you watch? I know there's a fucking ton of them as well. I just started like negative red season seven episode one or something. But no, I do like a bit of discovery trash, but I hadn't drifted on to the survivalist side of the planet.
The only reason I really like it as well is because I know it sounds stupid, but I love watching these alpha meals as well. I'm announcing I'm a man. I couldn't. I live.
I'm the turning into such babies and crying on a night time before the wet. Yeah, I know it's on this first one. I watched the guy did leave and the woman had to finish it on her own. And she did as well.
And one of the ones I went watching it was one of the most, like me as I've ever seen a vegetarian woman was on. And she survived the full time there without eating meat or resorting to eat meat. So she's stuck to a vegetarian principle. So we lost a lot of weight and become very unhealthy for her.
But she actually did do it. And she was getting mocked all the way through by these big blocks in. Oh, we're going to get you to eat food, meet up by some dears and like I said, it was an aspect where she was like, get a bit upset and I don't want to be at me. But I just never, but she managed to do it.
So it was quite inspiring as well. So I quite like that. Half the people just get dysentery and have to be taken home by the looks of it. I would have even hour.
Other than that, I caught an hour of Black Panther, which I too, which I intend to finish. But so far, so far so good on that one. I quite like to name all of what I saw. The more.
I did think it was very silly that the space floated the Black Panther coffin up before the open credits. It was a little bit. I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, other people, most people. I can tell you what I'm aiming with that because I watched that on Thursday.
And just sat and sibbled all the way through it. I'm not going to lie. And it wasn't because of what, obviously, it's really sad that, you know, Chatere Bozeman's gone. And that was literally just to allow the cast and crew to go on.
And it was the fact that I was reminded again that, you know, Chatere Bozeman's not yet. And I want to get my watch episode in real life because that and that's what was getting us upset is I won't see that. And it was because it was one of the most beautiful episodes of anything I've seen in a long time. And I did enjoy it, but I understood.
I understood why something was very long. Really long. Yeah, but it was just it was one big funeral. It was a very long goodbye.
We watched it. Yeah. I think we watched it. And I'm not going to lie.
I just fell off of it. This, I think the middle really drab. But I thought it was, we actually didn't think sorry because that's wrong. But I thought all the foreigners, the females, especially, were unbelievable.
Unbelievable. And I was like, it was amazing. Home run Ian, but sure he was brilliant. And I'm looking forward to seeing more of you really because I think she was a bit just sort of thrown in just for a name.
And what they said out for me was, I agree with her. I was a boy. She's absolutely amazing. And it was such a amazing.
Yeah. I'm not. I think I think we should not talk about her. Because Jake might not be there yet.
Yeah, I'm just about to go into the book. Yeah, because I nearly did. I was like, and I think I love the film. I love the strong word.
I like the film. I think I think we're sending the chat. It's a film I could have done with editing 30 minutes out. It's one side quest too many.
But it was a film you could tell that's been rewritten because of what happened. And that's quite funny because you can tell the bits that were meant to be in with Black Panther with like the Chad Norman and the bits that wasn't that was putting like, what really afterwards. So it felt like it was a half a story for me. But I know it's always difficult to do that for me.
For me watching it, it was very sort of destroyed and it tended to be what it was going on. What we're doing. And I imagine that exactly how it felt when we hadn't reread it. It just felt a bit lost.
And I think that really does come over in the story. So I think all the performances are great. It was just it was just it was a bit long. Yeah.
And Ryan Coogler said after he passed, he was like, that's it. I'm done. And I'm not just done with Black Panther. I'm done with movies.
I'm done with everything that's it. I'm going to hang everything up. And it wasn't until he was he spoke to Marvel and he got the said listen, we'll give you the opportunity to to say goodbye. And then if you want to walk away, then by all means, what they understand and when he did it, he said he got to use.
He just felt inspired because he could feel him there. And he was like, this isn't what he would want. He would want us to just hang it all up and everything. It was handled really beautifully.
Like the titles of the Marvel titles at the beginning to the funeral and the ends. It was it was handled so well. And I love the fact that they didn't focus on how or why they just won't say goodbye. It was almost maraud is actual illness.
Like it was it was so real that it was as it sometimes you had to keep reminding yourself that I'm watching a beautiful hero film here. Yeah. I think it reminded me of when Cori Monty died in Glee. They didn't they didn't focus on the how we died.
Because I feel it was a bit of a good. They didn't focus on how we died. They just focused on sort of. See, yeah.
Yeah. But I think with Marvel's weak points now, and it is quite prevalent in this movie as it is being for a lot of them. All it feels now is like it's placeholders for what's happened next. It's introduced in other characters for the sake of saying, oh, we're going to get this now.
We're going to get that now. This is what this is going to lead into. And I think that's Marvel's biggest mistake now. They don't know what they're fixing on and they can't fix on a story.
So tell half a story. But the other half is then telling where the next movie is going to go to the sports one project at a time. Well, you're like, you've kind of got to wait too long because I feel like they build like the whole Madame Hydra thing for a long time. And it's like, I'm starting to forget bits now because you've left it too long and you've started other stories in the meantimes and now like I'm focused pulled over here.
And I think like the expect people to like rewatch stuff a lot and like I don't personally. Everyone not everyone can be me. Watch it like a million and one times. I understand that but I just want to get what you mean.
But I'm not blindsided by Marvel's like what Marvel's doing at the moment just because I'm like a fan girl of them. Oh, I just. So what else seems to be watching? Using better than not.
Oh, I watch season two of Happy Valley. That was exciting. That was exciting. Season for now.
Years tonight as well. Yeah, season one. The killer was like, I finished it on Friday night after we finished the podcast. I watched the last episode of season two and she was like, right.
So can you get season three done by Sunday? So you can watch the final episode so we can talk about it. Absolutely not. I'm good.
I'm not that good. Well, we're trying to watch you. I know you've got to watch anything interesting. I have I have I have a bit of a big intro.
Who cares? He's in the venture. Can you venture for care? He he he puts them on.
I don't know. He got really excited because then big swad on Netflix is just drop the second season and use the same shallots. And then you watch it. No, you might want to switch off now.
Charlotte's talking about her and Kevin's fashions. So you might want to watch. And on that puff history. You can't even try.
You can't even try now. And yes, he's shown it. The telling like, oh, yes, I'm going to run. I'm going to do it in.
Every time you will pay some cupcakes. What? Oh, no, no, no. You're going to use them.
So you're going to pipe that cup. You got that. And we're not even trying to get that thing. She wanted this.
And I've just been kind of rewatching so far. Was not being well and I'm not so recovered as quickly as I used to because I'm nearly in the 30s. Yeah. I've just been sort of rewatching stuff.
I don't really have to concentrate on that. Just so. So we watched the last of us, obviously, which was beautiful. It was just a strong episode.
We were checking out our episode on YouTube for that as well, guys. And we watched criminal minds because I think it's the new season for our next week. And we've got a few theories on that one that kind of what it didn't do. But it had to be confirmed for another series.
So we'll see. Yeah, but depending on that, it's not one that I've seen every episode of the latest stuff. It does seem very like fan service. You know, like what I've seen, which is fair enough because it's like a return, but it's like, oh, look, the golf ladies here.
Just doing sexy things. Look at everyone. Which was exactly. I can't believe you've never seen criminal 94 because you would absolutely 100% lead your wife for that.
And so would granted me. So it's OK. But this season's really, really good. There's been a couple of episodes that were a bit filler, but with a beginning of the short season, it's been met by the past.
And what else is John Kerriels is the finale right now. And so I'm going to watch that after we've done this. What we watched that, I don't know each knowledge. What was that?
Anything? Well, panoramic documentary. Oh, yeah. The panoramic documentary.
Yeah, you're right. Yeah, sorry. Yeah. Yeah, I was happy to have the panoramic documentary on Saturday and everything.
So and that was really, are you opening, I think? And on phone. And it wasn't, yeah, it wasn't necessarily what she was saying. It was the interview like a son's and a family and stuff.
And obviously they had a completely different table on what happened. And then it covered, it went right up until the panoramic documentary came out and it covered sort of her reaction to that. The eldest son saw the face of episodes and his reaction and stuff. So yeah, it was really sort of, I was kind of made as realized that Pamela Anderson was the 90s for instance.
Yeah. Yeah. How she's treated and that. I am, I feel awful that I actually watched Tom and Pami, not knowing that she didn't give her consent for this.
Yeah. And when I realized that she had, I was like, Jesus Christ, she just exposed not all over again. Yeah. It's exactly how she describes it.
And I felt, I felt sick to me stomach that I actually watched it. And I will, I will know the next time to do, because obviously Tom Lee is all hilarious. Like he was fine with it, but I didn't realize she wasn't on the same page. But that's not, I will fall typing.
I know it's, it's difficult when like, say someone like Disney close brings out a show. Yeah. It's hard to know, like, say the ins and outs, because you would think that she would, I'd be getting paid. But again, then you've got to realize that she lives through that.
And even though it was kind of like embellished and blew up, I don't think much of it would have been changed. So it's always a difficult one. But she is a very, very strong woman to go through and still be like, say, where she is now and not, makes it cause a lot of people would have kind of faded away. And yeah, definitely.
She's a phenomenal writer. Mm hmm. And which I didn't have a clue about. After you bring it right there.
Well, yeah, it's definitely something I'll be checking out soon. Yeah. Absolutely. I'll be watching it.
Well, go on then. What's been happening this week? I'm going to join us. I've been watching a few things this week.
I'd watched, like, say the new Megan movie with, like, say the updated show, equach. Oh, yeah. It was kind of OK, I had good premises, but it was predictable as hell. And not as fun as it could have been.
Can you just follow a child's play to me? I think the girl that we imagine is brilliant. But it was just a bit child's play in 2020. So I think it was kind of like, OK, I've watched that.
But if I'm here to watch it, sorry, I've got your notes. There's an easy to call online as well, guys, if you want to go. Oh, thank you. I'm happy about it here for it, to be honest.
It wasn't making anything special. It felt like a Netflix movie type, if that made sense. It had the look of that when I saw the trailer, like that kind of, like, very, like, high, high contrast, like, looks like it's in a weird, like, laboratory room. I mean, it kind of is a little bit.
But know how did you like the weird TikTok sensation that is, Megan? It was interesting. The dance that everyone's been dancing. It kind of didn't fit in the movie.
That's the thing. You can understand if it was, I think, which didn't do that type of thing. Oh, it was just standing in the hall and this CEO walked in and users like, again, and she just on this dance. So for a moment, I was like, just kicking off and killing them.
What she was doing was more stable. So it kind of felt a bit like a look. I looked at me and I just didn't seem to be have the points. She was, I thought she was a bit more scary than Chucky because she was just bigger.
Then it was like, yeah, true. She was like, tea, too. Hey, you couldn't just sort of carry around the wheel. She was a bit more.
I don't think Chucky was made that way to be scarier than we are. I think Chucky made that way to sell dolls. But she still does. It just moved Megan, then basically.
But I think everything that happens, it's so predictable. I watched the sad documentary as well. The glaze was like the three episodes. I enjoyed it in a way, but it was pure exploitation because there was no cast member part of the documentary.
It was all this person's hairdresser, this person's standing type thing. No one big or like from the production was like in part of the views. I think the only person I was close to was the last I died. I can't remember a name.
It's not. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. I was father was in and he told the good stuff.
But again, I'm sure she'll pop back hopefully. Shut up. Charlotte to Eastler. We've lost the Charlotte.
Oh, no, Charlotte. Charlotte come back. Charlotte to be chilling. She'll be chatting again.
Yeah, only her father is in and then the stadium quite a bit too much towards like about the death and like stabilizing about and stuff like that. And I kind of felt a bit uncomfortable towards the end. Oh, right. I'm not a glee.
I've never been a glee fan. I just I've seen stuff on TikTok and it literally just looked like it was. How can we how can we bashly and Michelle anymore? Yeah.
How can we how can we really like give it to her because, you know, she's got such a reputation and but they do have like all this years, pretty business back and they have like the glee curse. Yeah, that's kind of like talked about as well, but it was more uncomfortable than anything to watch. So if it was one to check out, I don't think it's was anything I wouldn't go back to watch and I wouldn't always recommend able to watch. Yeah.
You're not sure like what it you're not sure like what it was serving by being made. Does that make sense? Like, yeah, because you could just read the story and it's a weird one. That's fine.
And the other thing I did watch and again, we'll talk about because I think it's going to stay up a lot of this stuff on the podcast now. Absolutely. I'm making this segment. So let's go.
Yes, I did catch up on Moonshan is this week. As I was getting out, I didn't realize as well there was so many seasons of Moonshan is 22 or something. So I watched the latest episode by Bingo and back as well and watching the first season. Origins.
Origins, which is like, you know, circles with shotguns and like, and it actually has the place after them on like, and this one as well. But the ones are more like the L.E. TV, B.S. entertainment shade.
And we're glad the two all the time is on this episode because each episode they've got like different focus on people. So two old times the one with the weebels. That's what it was. It was it was infested in infested degree.
So this time they've had more bad luck. Basically what's happened is the corn that's going in the fields to end Moly. You watch Jesus. Oh my God.
So they were upset, but luckily they knew a farmer close by who they're going to deal with. So the cell like, send it to the moonsine profits to use the corn. So there's been some dodgy deals going on. So 15% of the profits, he was going to get their corn fails.
So they went and got the corn and they were eating the corn raw, which means they are about in control and sick and I'm like, and then we're going to do like that noise. Yeah, we're going to do like a roasted corn element as well to it. So they're going to have roasted corn flavored whiskey. So it is a bit like a toffee popcorn.
Right. Oh, interesting. And then the other guy who came down come up from Louisiana and set my people's toes up in, because there's a lot of water where they're going to Tennessee, apparently he didn't turn off the plug. Or he still guess what happened?
Blue or kidding. Have any of these guys gone blind? Because that's a legit concern when you make it like hard alcohol. See, you know what?
You know how to get past that part though. Because what they do is when they put through the moonshine, the first barrel, the first book they do, that's got the high percentage of holes with the ethanol in. You've got to throw that away. And then everybody thing comes out is drinkable.
If you don't drink the first bucket, you don't go blind. I don't know. I don't know. I can't hear Charlotte.
I can't hear Charlotte. Why are you? You are totally controlled of him. And by the way, you can't hear us.
I think she can't hear us. Can you hear us? Yeah. I'm just trying to post.
But it's all right. She's looking pretty, though. So that's the main thing. You look so adorable.
But yes. And talk about it because I know Sam normally records here in my Thrones episode on Tuesday, but this Tuesday is just not. So we might do a little bit of recording. So I'm going to get Sam to watch an episode of Moonshiners.
So you might say Sam's reaction to watching this in the isn't sure. We're dropping my flies. Because we spoke about like we could do this. I've not went and looked at anything.
So when I do come to watch it, it's like first experience, I don't know, nothing apart from what Paul tells us by the way the chat was really looking forward. He is this whole. This is you don't have to keep it up. That's the thing each week you got to you.
You're going to have to make sure you watch an episode. I need a name for this segment. This week on Moonshiners. Paul's done great.
That's all. Good will said I'm telling you guys Paul's going to push the red button, destroy the group and just live in the mountains in a coon skin hat, making boots. We're going to worry. We won't be streaming live.
This was be a prerecorded segment. I'm going to put it up whenever I might even just go to the period. Don't worry. We're not going to take over your shoes and make it anymore.
You're all good. Good. Well, we'll make sure the famous. But we have to make sure the famous goodwill has these.
He's. He's. Yeah. Otherwise, yes.
You know, shall we? Yes. We're going to keep good will happy because we don't want any David's side. It really takes good will slot.
No. Did you want to pitch in on any of that? Charlotte, did you hear none of it? I didn't really hear any of it.
Or everything. Sam, you know what? Sam, it's a good episode. Oh, the guy that said that the final thought is after he got to Brazil.
He's in Brazil. He's in Brazil. He's farming coffee in Brazil for his moonshine coffee, but he wants to fucking best beans. He's telling you it's mad.
He's still waiting for the dungarees in Brazil. This is becoming my favourite part of the podcast. It's the show. It's not sound like if we try to organise making our own alcohol.
Oh, we'll do it. Next thing I want to know if we look at Brazil. Don't know if you're still listening. We've got an idea.
I mean, for the live show, like I was off screen getting rid of the weevils right before we went live. Happens. That's what's called crafts now weevils. Oh, wow.
Shall we get into this week's episode? Yeah, I'll tell the disclaimer, Sam. Take it away. Everything discussed in today's episode is our opinions and our opinions alone.
If you'd like to discuss anything from today's episode, please come join us in the Facebook group where we can have an open discussion. What we want to have is anyone coming for us in town? Does our opinions are wrong? We can all agree to disagree and find them.
So let's keep it fun. Keep it kind and keep the toxic behaviour out of notism. Well said. This message was brought to you by me.
By Sami from the BBC. And of course. But you know what? I tell you what I found out because I've been like, with us doing the Facebook jazz thing and then uploading the video again to YouTube, which we haven't done for a while.
Now we actually get a transcript of everything we see when you upload it to YouTube. So I was reading through and the only thing that doesn't have really weird, like, sayings because that would pack sense, must be shit. It's something to say. Keep it working.
Everything else had random words in here and there. It's not the hashtag. Because I thought we posh voice on and print. Every single word.
What I noticed on the Facebook one was that the transcript was coming up as we were saying it and it blanched out all the swear words. It started them all out. Little baby Zuckerberg. Yes.
So this was JXID and some really wanted to go through it even though something no idea was for it. Just like the word shark I think. That doesn't stop us from doing anything. It doesn't.
When do you have described it? I was like, oh my god, that sounds amazing. But I can't now think of any of me on because every time I do, I'm like, no, that's not it. I don't think that's what Jake meant.
So I didn't coin this term. No, Jake wasn't around at that time. It was just a smart funny sad side. Give me a short definition of a shark moment.
I think it's when a TV or film has to do something so extreme that they end up losing their audience. Exactly. See, it's only taking us when you pitch this to you. Honestly, it was when you were doing the band hire, like the last band hire show I think.
And you ended up touching on True Blur and I was like, oh, I remember when that. But yeah, and then that's what I was thinking. Oh, is it the fairies? Yeah, yeah.
That's what kind of triggered this kind of thing. Right. It's when a show does something usually that we've even been written into a corner or it's like a ratings grab because it does come from Happy Days. I think that's exactly what this was.
It was like, oh, everyone's going on vacation or whatever. Like the three episodes we're going to fail them on location in Miami or something. And it was like, everyone was like, this is supposed to be like slice of life. 50s America.
Like why are we watching Henry Winkler jump over the sharks on a jet ski and stuff like well, why don't they just let her check it? I'm going to see you at the jacket. Yeah. If you watch the episode back, the clip is on before we go live.
I actually used the Happy Days episode where I jumped over the shark. And everyone was like, what's going on? Like this used to be like a grounded show. And now it's like, you know, the Henry Winkler's superpower always like this mythical figure.
And maybe that did like some end to him as like the fans forever, but like the people didn't react well to it. And the written stuff going down. So I've been like, as Jake said, I believe the coin was for years when the Happy Days episode happened. And all I was going to think about it, it is basically more of a prevalent towards TV shows than other media just because it's one of the ones where the runout was so many ideas.
And the thing, throw a hell of a hell of a Harry's pasta trying booze, something or a change, something or it's like why it's ever the interest in your character or change or. But I think that kind of phrase can be used towards movies now. It could be movie franchises or a movie story that's where they just don't know where to go with it. I think even in books or in comics or even computer games now, you do get like, say, jump the shot moments in all type of public.
I think comics are like massively guilty of this. I think it was kind of unnoticed because they're like, they're forever on like every every. Yeah. It's meant to be there.
It has to go on forever because you have to always be Spider-Man coming up. It's just kind of go, oh, it was a multi-verse. It wasn't a real Spider-Man. This is a Spider-Man.
Or this is the real Spider-Man. Oh, genetically we've changed them. Genetically they are coming back. They, yeah, I totally get up with the comic book size.
Yeah. But like I thought, like I was saying, I thought it would be an interesting topic. And yeah, True Blood was the thing that sort of triggered the idea because I remember like in that show, I mean, it was like, it was very like silly, but in a kind of like its own way. It was sort of half making fun of the whole vampire idea, but then taking it like quite seriously as well.
I mean, like Fang Bangers is like a hilarious term for somebody that's sex with vampires. But we're always having fun with it. But then like there is the tone where the decider gave the main character whose whole deal is like it's the every person thrust into the vampire world. It's like the decider be like, we're bored now.
She's magic too. No, I think that's because I don't think many people realize it was true blood at the time was fucking massive. It was just right on the way of like the Buffy, because I think Buffy was I would come into the end or just finishing around the time this kind of launch. So it was kind of like getting a new like kind of dark fix type thing.
But it had a gap and we're like, there was nothing like that. It's like on to it. It was on say diaries. Yeah.
Come on. But it had like a lower budget, I would say. And then this was like a HBO show, wasn't it? What is this very much an adult themed vampire show that wasn't just targeted at teenage girls like vampire diaries?
I had a great and a huge story like. Oh, I thought you could have been vampire diaries. Oh, it's book. Gotcha.
But it had a kind of coming in and I think she was right in the way of X-Men and makes it almost famous. So she was like a big name, especially before them because this is the time when stars weren't going to TV TV and movie stars were completely separate. Not like now where they could pick a lot of one towards TV and swap and all of that. So she was kind of like the first big movie star to kind of go towards the TV aspect.
Kirsten Chinaweth, I think it's how you say it. She was in, she was in, she was a stage star and she was in the, she was in a Kirsten Chinaweth. I could be saying that really wrong. Is she from Wicked?
Yeah, she was in Wicked. She was in Wicked. Yes. Shanna Wick.
Shanna Wick. Shanna Wick. Shanna Wick. She was in, as I say, she was in a stage star, she did a couple of things.
She was in, she was in Tree of Blood. I know she was in there, American Gods. I remember how long she was in. Yeah, she was in my God.
She was in Tree of Blood. But the thing with Tree of Blood was that it was books first. So everything that TV was showing was in some form of vision of what happened in the books. So can you believe?
Everyone. Everyone and everyone. I feel like you can get away with that a bit more in books because you usually get like more time to sit with the story and you'll be like, oh maybe I do fancy like a change up now that we're on like book five or whatever. Yeah.
Like a decade. And I read in books, everybody imagines it differently. So yeah. So we got one guy, when they introduced fairies, it was the guy from East Enders turned up and it was like, you're a fairy now.
And everyone's, you know, the thing that vampire's lost over, that's why Bill always wanted to do it. I was like, okay, I'm tapping out now. And then the guy that took me shirt off a lot from what's he called Deathstroke and suicide squads. Oh, the Wolfmaster.
I guess when you like, when you lay it all out, it was like a constant escalation of like, okay, we need a new thing because there was a witch's season as well. I think the witch's season might have led into the fairy thing. Like it was like a weird pattern. Listen, Kathleen was in it and she was in it.
She was. She wasn't. She wasn't. She was a drug-sick girlfriend.
She was the v addicted girlfriend of Jason who would. Oh, yeah. The five load that gave you super papers. Yeah.
It was a very silly TV show. But the first series was absolutely fantastic. Yes. You can't take anything away from that.
The second series, I never get into it because I always know what's going on. There's a part where the brother gets kidnapped by like a hillbilly sex cult as well. Yes, that's right. They're like a good few episodes and then just comes back and has to live with that.
And still no one can see it. No, we know why. Just watch this store for so long. So what?
I don't know what this is. How it ended? No, honestly, I think I tapped out with the fairy thing. I don't think I don't know anything about it either.
Like, that's kind of what these moments do sometimes to make people like completely check out of the show. Like just for no without any fanfare that can just like make people walk away and be like, okay, I'm finished. Yeah. But just the question as well, they're moving away from true blood a little bit.
I'm not for you guys. What you say was your biggest jump the shot moment that you reside with. So I'll go with Charlotte first. Just to throw under the bus in it.
I was thinking about this earlier and the one that stands out most for me was one's funny time. I was a huge, huge one's funny time fan. And it got, I don't want to say it got progressively worse, but it just it wasn't as the late seasons went as good. And then we got to what we thought was the last season and all the main characters left, all of them.
They decided, oh, this season's getting good ratings. We'll do another season with none of the main characters, bring in loads of new characters, have a time jump and just see that this guy is him but grown up. The time skip. It just didn't make sense.
The end, I think it was the sixth season when everybody got the endings and blah, blah, blah, that was, it was kind of like the perfect ending. And then they brought it back for this new series. And we were just like, well, what was the point in that? It just didn't make any sense to me.
That one and Gotham. That's not one for me. I just took that straight away. I loved, loved, loved the first two, maybe season three of Gotham.
And then they brought in what you call them as the Joker. Right. I think I might have dropped off before that, but I heard a lot of people be angry about that online because it was so many, so many like teased reveals like over and over again. And they recast Poison ID about six times and she got progressively older and aggressively bigger.
I was in the chat mode. That was a jump. That was a jump. That was a market improvement.
Again, the did, I think it was the last two episodes, maybe the last episode massive time jump. And the only one that kept was Bruce Wayne. So like everybody else who was supposed to be the C.V. Just like, pro at all.
Yeah. The same Bruce way and just try to make him look a bit older. So he's got like, shooting me that I like this thing. Yeah.
Because the premise of this, yeah, because the two when they're two said they were going to do Gotham. I think it's like, I haven't seen the DC fanboy. I love anything to do with the dark nights. I thought it was going to be Gotham nights as well.
Did you like the comic? No, no, no, no. From what I read, because I like when I listened to all the panels, I comic on everything that they said, because I love the idea of doing about my show, rather than about my movie, because it just lends to like the detective element and stuff like that. But this one kind of tricks instead of going to be Gordon front center and Gordon's such a wonderful character.
Like, especially in the comics as well, like not many side characters is written as well as Jim and so it wasn't really too much like, say, the could change, needed change. They could just basically use that premise. But having Batman go up in the city, that's fine learning how to be Batman, but keep every single one of these bad guys out there. Like, we're from it because that's the reason why you got these villains are bad guys is because they're kind of like the reaction to having some addresses about turns people into like, if someone's going to trust like a bat, I'm going to address like this.
It's like, it's like cause and effect. Well, it would happen Jim Gordon beat these villains early on. Yeah. But then why do we need Batman?
Yeah. Actually, having beat serious colors, having beats mobsters in the team and giving us the foundation of what Gotham is, like, why has Gotham become so dirty and run down now and why is the place being so corrupt? I'm all for that. But what we did was get, okay, he's going to give you a little bit more of a couple more.
We're going to give you a little bit more of how the villain become like earlier. It's like, no, no, don't give us a little like give us Edward, Edward, Edward, Nick. Well, I don't want to say Edward Nick, I don't want to say Edward Nick, Edward Nick, but Nick, my inner, the real is outfit. But he kind of got that.
I was like, no, that doesn't make sense because we haven't got Batman yet. As much sense as it didn't make. I did think the casting of the Riddler Penguin and Selena Kyle particularly was spot on. If you look at a picture of, I can't remember my name, Cameron, something who plays the young Selena Kyle.
You look at a picture of Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns. And it's completely believable that that's who she goes out of me because the theatre, like, theatre is so similar and the way she moved as well with being a dancer was beautiful. I loved the character of the Riddler. I loved how he played him.
It was a much darker identity before. It wasn't a sort of campy as Jim Carrey. It was a lot of Batman. But it was just a bit too early to introduce these characters.
But they didn't introduce some of the less than one's, like, the Mad Harry's in it. And I think it was Professor Pegg and Dollmaker and stuff. So they would be using the masker and stuff like that. And being Kim and Riff at some point, I was like, that's when I started losing my shit.
I agree having to wrong, come into it and given such a weird backstory as well. That was probably the jump in the sharp moment for me where the short did leave from. And the pull this back to get fucking gone. The moment for me was easy to win.
And I was just like, not done. That's it. Well, that's the thing. Because I think I was a lot of shows with this type of aspect.
I got them. You've got to have balls to do it and do it right. And I think the producers never got scared and shit. People are not going to want to see these aspects.
But they're not giving the fans the respect they deserve. It's like, oh, the fans will want to see the Riddler. Oh, the fans will want to see the Jorga. The fans will want to see us.
No, we haven't got Batman yet. It was a similar way to how Smallville ended where the final episode was supposed to be Bruce putting on the cable. Which kind of got. But it was probably a few seasons earlier than they wanted.
It was a way Smallville was meant to be ended was when I'd say that it was the shirt and you'd say the S. That was basically the premise to the shows. And again, Smallville did it better for longer because the state of that premise. But it's only starting getting stupid as when all these super films are just a sword came into it before Clark knew who he was.
Yeah. But you're right though, because he didn't have the suit the entire show in a for the Superman one. When I was on a day, he just said. Smallville.
He didn't have the suit and that was a big, like you said, it was like a big idea from the start and the stock to it. Like fair enough, it was villain of the week, but it was like, you know, respected what they set out to do and like didn't ruin Superman too bad. No, I think they've done a lot of things right with Smallville. It's just the pain themselves in a like, again, I don't want to be slating off.
Like, this isn't a podcast episode, it's obviously it shows. But with American TV shows, the technical right to want to show that I'll go off for 30 seasons. And when they get so far, they go shit with our ideas and what to go again. I'll probably get Charlotte to start swam as in wonders to be muted.
But Supernatural, for example, probably has had probably the most jump the shark moments in a TV show that's ever been. I see your supernatural and I read you the walking dead. You already read with that. The walking dead didn't have many sharp moments.
Just this point. More disappointed than the shark because I was thinking about that with Warping Dead. I was like, they just made really poor decisions that kept making them go around in circles. That's not something that's just been more important.
What I don't get is with Supernatural, they were right now as the wind, you know, on the spot as the wind every season with things like Gotham and Superman and Walking Dead. It almost seems like every time they announce one of these shows, like what if they try so, so hard, like the production company, whatever, try so, so hard to make their own. And they completely forget that they've got decades worth of source material that can go off and they just try and change things and it doesn't work. And that's where I think we get the jump the shark moments and the fans doing off.
