Hi everyone and welcome to the NURDY of North podcast. It's NURDY podcast that is hosted behind all the nerds. I am your host Sam. And I'm the other host Paul and tonight's episode is going to be long.

It's going to be the longest episode so Sarah is not on it. So who is Sarah? I'm sorry. But yes, we've got the beautiful, the wonderful, the amazing Sonia who's joining us again.

It's been the Sonia one. We are never getting rid of this. It's going to be a permanent feature to the actual team now. And we've got the hair bear himself.

Lee's and his ginger beard has joined us. Lee, why is your scream went all smokey now? I just noticed that. That's a kind of stupid effect you're doing.

You're putting a smoke effect on her. No, no, I was, I had a quick call. I think it's just stupid boy. Oh, yes.

We've got Daddy Discord, Mr. Brown Egg himself. I can't even take you seriously anymore. Sorry.

Oh, yes. We've got the Lee who's been busy all dear fixing things on the Discord, making things look pretty. So thank you Lee, even though you're a bellend. Wow.

At least I have your revenge because you have to sit and talk about a lot of the rings for the next three hours or something. Well, it's no short run the film. It's still. That's true.

I was just going to say the films are like four and a half hours long. So you let them off with an hour and a half. But yes. So as you sort of all anticipated and forced us in busy blunge blunge just into submission, we are doing a return of the nerds version of returning to the Shire.

So we are talking about Lord the Rings. So everyone's dressed up nicely today. Lee's got his Lord the Rings station on. Sammy's got her Lord the Rings station on.

Give us a look, Sammy. Say, not just away at short for boobs. Yeah, I got none. I got the Sun.

You've got her Lord the Rings station on. She's got a necklace on as well. So everyone's doing it style and I've got the best station of all doing these. Yes.

So it seems like we've got a lot of people in the chat as well. So everyone's talking away being weird and as normal. So it's nice to see you. We're back.

It feels like a long time. It does. Yeah, because we were big live last week. Oh, should I?

When we weren't live live live Sunday that was a mister. Yes. Tell you what, I love that episode. That was one of my favorite episodes.

We've been in a while. The Princess Bride. I had so much fun on that one. I didn't think I was going to laugh so much.

I really didn't like it. It's on fucking fire. You and Kelly came on saying this film shit. That means Sonia actually talked to us in the believe in how good that move was.

Yeah, the episode. Yeah, that was so good. Good job, guys. Yes.

So just to say, thank you. Thank you to Chris as well who has gifted a subscription to Beth. We are now just one subscription. We're going to unlock a new level on YouTube where we can get more cool things out of it.

So no peer pressure, anything guys, look like he's in the chat. One of you is want to take a hint hint hint. No, but thank you. Master's massive.

Thank you. So take us away. I know you've been preparing and getting excitement for this. I'm prepared.

No. Yes. Really want to do this. Yes.

And I'm going to get straight into the, um, wow, two minutes took two minutes. I'm not messing up already. Now I'm going to get straight into the disclaimer and I'm going to get straight into the opening of this epic episode. So everything discussing today's episode is our opinions and our opinions alone.

If you'd like to discuss anything from today's episode, please come and join us on the Facebook page, the comments section or the discord where we can have an open discussion. What we want to have though is anyone come in for us and tell us our opinions are wrong. Paul, we can all agree to disagree in fandom. So let's keep it then.

Keep it kind and keep the toxic behaviour out of notism. Very well said, you're merely and she's prepared a little speech. Shall we see? I say a little.

May last a while. So go comfy. Yes. Thank you.

Thank you. So yes, yes. You're the top of the beat. Thank you so much.

Yes. But everyone, the world has changed. I feel it in the water and I feel it in the earth and I smell it in the air. Much the ones is lost for non now live who remember it.

It began in the forging of the great rings. Three were given to the elves, immortal, wisest and fairest of all beings, seven to the dwarf lords, great miners and craftsmen of the mountain halls and nine. Nine rings were gifted to the race of men who above all else despite desired power. But within these rings was bound as strength and will to govern each race.

But they were all, say this is where I'm going to mess up, but they were all of them deceived for another ring was made in the land of mortal in the fires of Mount Doom, the oak Lord Sauron forged in secret, a mastering to control all others. And into this ring, he poured his cruelty, his malice and his will to dominate all life, one ring to rule them all. I was going to continue and read the whole thing. But the reason I wanted to do that open and just end it with the one ring, because everyone gets confused, whether rings and how many rings there were, and who they went to, and it kind of sets up the scene quite nicely to lead us into the load of the rings.

I think this should be some kind of example. I was hoping like the whole thing. I was going to read the whole thing. And then, but I only when I was when I had a dem mind, I was like, I just want to end on the one ring to rule them all.

To be fair, look at Lee's fears. I thought Lee was either going to come or burst into tears. He was looking so excited. He was like looking so emotional.

To be fair, tears are just looped. Just people's not using the right. But yes, so just before we start, and because I know everyone's sitting in anticipation for me to go through this as well, I did discover something to the air. And I was looking on the internet, and I found a picture on the four little friends, who's gone on a little adventure and how they started off.

So I'll bring up the picture there. So you, this was coming. So I got started in Discord, and it didn't have the heads on the hobbits at the site. So before habits starting off with little, little Chris, not like looking quite tall there, I think.

So I think Chris had a bit of just this. It's late looking like the sexiest habit. Like kind of looking out there, saying, give me that little funky dude. It's like a smoldering for all of them.

It's good. I think you should grow your hair like that. I think you would certainly. So I think the girls could come there.

And we've got you all with her, which is the most frightening thing I've ever seen in my life. Like in terms of putting on a look like something, it was a scalter out the seventies. But yeah, yeah, he does. He's got a gold chain.

And then we've got JQ, just looks very angry to be part of it and being dragged along out of his comfort zone as well. So these are the four habits that's taken us in the adventure as well. So I just thought I'd do something nice for you to smile on your little holiday faces. Chris has not worn too much as well.

There's a scene in, I guess, the two towers where Pippin grows after he's drank in something from the forest. And he's like, I know Mary, Mary grows or something. And Pippin, you're like, you're four or five or three, but five or something. And I was like, oh, is that how Chris feels?

Well, he still heard from your comment last week that you said you don't like little people. So I still get, he's still thinking about that one as well. I wasn't referencing Chris at all. Yes.

Unless he was in time. Exactly. He was to be fair. Oh, yes.

To be of all these. I was doing this, which it hasn't been done by design at all is the 20th anniversary of not the greatest one of the trilogy, but one of them in there anyway, the return of the king. Yes, I can know that either as well. Sonya was telling us before it's good.

Oh, he's a plan this well. We're like, what? I thought you'd plan it. No, we don't plan anything here.

Guys, everything happens by accident or design. But yes, everyone's probably waiting to hear me slag off the Lord Rings. I'm not going to do that today. I promise I might have a little dig here and there just because it's fun.

But I'm not going to say it. I will give my honest opinion, my honest views on it. And just to get out of the way, I did, as we said, wouldn't normally do watch the movies before, but it's been a good few years since I've watched the Lord Rings. So I watched all three films over the last two days, not just the normal one, the fucking extended one as Lee was busy Martin as yesterday.

I was like, oh, he's starting now. I was like, oh, you've only got two and a half hours to go. Yes, I noticed. Four and a half hours for a final film.

But yeah, until the release that extended extended code. No, no, no, no, there's still 17 hours of unreleased. No, it's actually this actually D is footage not being released for Helms Deep because that was what 20 hours every day for nearly a full month. So there is hours upon hours of footage of the battle Helms Deep just somewhere.

And I want to say this. And I'll have this on record as well. I will never ever watch these movies ever again in my life. I'm sorry, like, that is my viewpoint and...

So what do you say it is? This is the last time guys that we're ever talking about Lord of the Rings. Oh no! To be fair, I'll probably do another Ring Tuesdays.

We can do more Lord of the Rings episodes. I'll be happy to do it but I'll probably take a step back because after the return to the king I was like, out of happy space I was like, I'm done. I had to be filled. I was like, I don't need to think.

As a spectacle, I'll talk about the positives as well because I know that sounds really bad. I don't want it to be as negative as it sounds. As a spectacle, these are some of the most beautiful movies that have ever been made and even though they were made so long ago to date, not many films has topped what these guys do. It did change cinema, not just like, well, it changed all types of media when these came out.

Like TV shows, movies, computer games, when these films came out it changed the game for everything and nothing has really kind of recovered since then because movies and TV shows and everything are striving to recreate the buzz or trying to recreate the money or trying to recreate the spectacle that these films gave us back then. I don't think it'll ever be done again. I don't think a movie franchise or anything that they bring out will ever top what we got with Lord of the Rings. I think, in honest opinion, I think this was the pinnacle for this type of movie.

That's maybe as honest as a thing. Now if you ask this a bit, enjoy the movies. I would give you a completely different answer but I've got reasons for that, I guess. I'll tell you what, we'll start with the Fellowship.

I think it's easy to start with one as opposed to jumping into all three and just going all over the place. I want to give you some of the potential casting for this movie. So originally, so this movie Fellowship was, or the whole lot of the Rings movie, was it started pre-production in 97, so it was started in 97. It didn't start shooting until much later than that.

They had people in mind and people who they went to first before they actually started, you know, you get your cast of what you've got to do. We'll start with Aragon. Now we all know the originally Stuart Townsend was cast as Aragon. There's scenes out there with him in there and he was famously sacked because of shit.

No, it's because he looked too young. It's not what he pictured. When you're looking at Aragon in the Prince and Pawnee, you are looking at Stuart Townsend. That is not a legal mortise under that cloak.

But the original, this is the best one. Now there are some good ones. But the original person that wanted was Daniel D'I Lewis. He said, fuck no.

The second pick, this is the best one, was Nicholas Cage. Oh, imagine. Imagine. And he turned it down for other commitments.

And yeah, Nicholas Cage was originally offered it, and then it eventually went to Vigal Morterson. What are you going to take it? What's he? Vigal.

He's soon talked to him into that. What a baller. What a baller. It's such a different film.

So different. I'm a vampire. I'm a vampire. Nicholas Cage would have been in me as an idiot.

He would have just picked up for it. Fuck it, we're coming to Moda. We've got him on his fucking run. I'm not going to take sex as Moda on fire and just write it.

Just a different movie. But Gandalf is a good one. So Gandalf originally, this is apparently quite well known within the Lord of the Rings community that was going to be played by Sean Connery. Sean Connery turned it down again.

Commitments. Then the line goes. Patrick Stewart. It actually ended with Patrick Stewart.

It was Sam Niel. Oh, no. I don't like that. No.

It's kind of like the New Zealand thing though, right? Yeah. It was. Like the Kiwi community.

Yeah. Sam Niel was a big one. And then it landed on Patrick Stewart. And Patrick Stewart was actually quite tempted, but then said, I've got my stuff coming up with X-Men and Blard of the Year.

Maybe we should go with Ian McKellen because he's all finished with his X-Men stuff. And Ian McKellen. But yeah, I'll do that. And one more.

Because of the rest of them, I can't really find anything that anyone else was involved. This was probably my favorite. And I would love to have known how this conversation actually went down. But David Bowie wanted to play at Elrond.

No, actually. So cool. Oh my gosh. He actually went to Peter Jackson.

Oh, you got a card from there. He actually went to Peter Jackson and begged him to play at Elrond. And he had an Peter Jackson say, I had to tell David Bowie. David Bowie.

No. To be fair, I want to be in advance. You went to have you seen Labyrinth? Same you crouch in there.

I want bigger, bolder in your face. Crotch effects. Yeah. Yes.

But yeah, it was he wanted to be casted as Elrond and Peter Jackson had to turn him down. So I was reading some of it. I think the stage one blew my mind. I still think for a studio and for the amount of money that they were putting in this, the risk they had took with Peter Jackson was mind-blowing.

Like if you think about his funds before that. Oh, Brenda. Brenda. Brenda.

I know what going from Brenda to Lord the Ring. It's a massive jump. It's a massive jump, but it was always going to happen. So Frightness was the last movie that he did before Lord of the Rings.

But initially there wasn't going to be Lord of the Rings. That was going to be his next big break. In 1987, it was going to be King Kong. So King Kong has always been on his lap since 1997, but he said he was too intimidated to actually take that project on.

He went, I'll do Lord of the Rings instead. Oh, is that right? Is that because I heard it differently? Yeah, because I heard like you got it.

I heard on line, on the internet. Because again, I might be wrong because I heard, like, you can download the rings and then the sedrem, what film, like you can do any film you want. You've got a blank slate. He went, OK, I want to do King Kong.

No, he was offered King Kong initially. This is what I read anyway. He was offered King Kong initially. And he said it was always his.

Yeah. And he just went, I can't do it yet. I can't. If you notice, a lot of what was used in Lord of the Rings is then used in King Kong.

Yeah. He didn't know how to translate King Kong over to make it visually impressive. But when he did Lord of the Rings, it kind of like worked out that he had the technology was there. Well, to be fair, the technology, after doing Lord of the Rings, I thought that was a dark mere days on.

And again, we probably slug off this technology so much now, because with Lord of the Rings happening, like everyone thinks they can make CGI movies like fully. And now it's over indulgence and over abundance of CGI in movies. Yeah. Don't necessarily need it.

So Paul is doing better. Yeah. But that's the thing with Lord of the Rings. You couldn't make that movie practical.

It's just impossible. It's absolutely. You can imagine doing all the practical effects for Lord of the Rings. You'll be still making the first one now.

Yeah. And there's a reason the film's took so long to do as well, because it was because they were pioneering new act that like, I mean, there's a really funny clip. I think French and Saunders did a full sketch where like, they were creating a lot of the rings. And they were like, how do we do this open and see?

We need like hundreds of thousands of people at war. Like what are we going to do? We haven't got this kind of manpower. And then I think it's French, John French is just like, I've got it.

He's going to get ants and a hairdryer. And they just blow all that ants over. But like, as well as well as how else are you meant to do that? Like, in all the films, you would have needed the people, you know?

They said that again. So like all of the armor, all of the swords and everything like that. I guess probably you probably know something pretty good. All of the people making them behind the scenes that have put them in all confits.

Yeah, they ran out of people. It's got the jusil and fire fighters as well, didn't they? They've got the fire fighters, the rugby team. Yeah.

So I had them literally run out of people to use as extras. The shire is actually genuine. That is a thing. You can go and stand them now.

Yeah, but it was created a year and a half before they even started filming. So the origin and everything was real. And they actually had people living in it. So it was a livable place to so to make it more believable.

So I thought that was absolutely brilliant. Just before we go, just leave this comment saying that you're hard of hearingly. So you can turn up your microphone. Oh, speak clearly a bit.

It's too far away from it. Yeah, I'll just forget it louder than so. Yeah, you're a big boy. It's fine.

But yeah, the budget for all three movies was 287 million. But it wasn't going to be three movies. So the initial distribution had it only paid for two. Right.

So Peter Jackson had to figure out and Fran Waller tried to figure out how to fit this into two movies. They then were dropped by that production company and picked up by New Line who said, we'll give you three movies. This is the initial runtime that you can have. However, we can always do something afterwards.

Imagine. Imagine getting that into a 90 minute movie age. What would you cut out? Everything.

There'd be no character development. You wouldn't understand why. I've watched the non-extended versions twice and both times it's been at the cinema. And both times I've walked away thinking, if I hadn't seen the extended editions, I would not have known what was going on.

No, those are all new facts. You need that information. Like you need it. Going back to when you first watched these movies as well, like seeing the Fellowship of the Ring, did you go at the cinema at the same time when it first came out?

No, I had several times. I was a late bloomer, unfortunately. I did. I didn't go and see it.

I saw all the posters and Frodo Elijah Woods. I love Elijah Woods. But it's just, I looked at the poster and thought, no, I don't like his face. He's gone like his face.

Frodo's got a very timothy. Shall I look? He needed that face. That's why he needed that face.

He would have loved him with that face then. He's not the hero of the film, is he's not. No. He's usually sort of three times in the whole trilogy, I think.

He actually loses the ring to where Sam finds it for him. Sam has it for him. Yeah. And he has one goal, but I got a Sam's trying to steal the ring.

Technically, he's been losing the ring. It's on him. Sam takes it because he thinks he's dead. So yeah.

He's still, he's still arcy with him. It's really. He friends are mentally deranged and he wrecks it. And that's the whole, the whole thing.

He's not quite a hub is he's like, he's half of it. Yeah. But no. But no, but by me, mum and Joe, we brought out the cinematist fellowship and came back and they were raving about how good this film was.

And I was like, not my kind of thing, man. Sorry. Nah. And then the two towers was coming out and I wanted to go and see it by this point, I'd watched fellowship like VHS.

So I'd seen the shop and again was very confused and understand what the fuck was going on. But I was like, I want to come and see two towers. So I watched the rest at the cinema as they came out. But no, I'd never, I'd never seen the fellowship at the cinema until I went and did it all night back to back that I paid for at the cinema.

Interesting. I know why I had it like people's got to laugh at this. I didn't have the best experience of seeing the fellowship in the cinema. Not because of the movie.

I was very blown away by the movie when seen it. At the time when it was released, it was impossible to get tickets. So we went and it was before pre-booking online, it was when you had a ring up to get tickets and stuff. But we thought, oh, we'll go to one of the later ones.

And the only seats were like bottom left, second row. So basically sitting in the cinema, looking up like this. Yeah, it's not going to go through. Neck creak back for like maybe three hours.

Neck creak back. Yeah. I was like, oh, this is going to cause me problems in the future as well. But yeah, I remember having a bit experience for the two towers.

And again, probably down a popular belief the two towers is the better movie of the three. 100%. After the first. After the first.

After the first fellowship. Right. After the first. It's just a beautiful film.

It shows you like all of these amazing lands, all this beautiful scenery. It gives all the back story of all the characters. And it's a journey for them. And the corner journey and the fight against all these amazing bad guys like Lutz, Urukai, the Balrog, Salman, and Gam Dal, Sauron fighting at the beginning against all the armies.

All of that is amazing. And then the two towers is less of a journey for them in action for them. Yeah. Do you know what it is?

Two towers has, sorry, I've got to harry mouth. Two towers has, you know, the bottle helps me. One of my favorite, but it probably is my favorite bottle of all time. Yeah.

But the reason I prefer fellowship is because once Roto and Sam break away from the group, I find there seems to be a little bit like, Oh, come on, get on with it. Yeah. Like you don't have that in the first film. You've just got like all these people meeting to the soccer fellowship for that reason.

In fact, I'm skipping the Frodo Sam scenes. I'm not going to lie. I don't blame you. I don't blame you.

Generally, I'm blaming you. There's someone fearing it. My favorite moment, one of my favorite moments is the bondant of the fellowship where the all where it all happens. That whole cancel me.

My heart. Yeah. You can't you can't not see it now. It's going to be fair.

Look, it's going to be true. With normally these lines and moves, you're busted. So now it's got a bit of a change. We actually got to eloquent and see a lot more than just your bastard.

Oh, shit. I'm losing you head again. One ring. But it's a gift.

It is a gift. It is a gift. Where's me script? I just love that scene so much.

I cry. I've been on to turn the movie off at that point in the book. And that's all that happens. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. Everyone's probably ever after the end. It's uh, it's when I don't know it's just it's before things get too dark.

It's like it's still got the comedic side of it. You know, like all the hobbits like, but you're not going without us. And like, Gandalf's all like, Oh, I thought we were alone. But he knew that was there.

Like, it's just so lush. It's so lush. And obviously, and my acts. And my goal.

And those are the only lines that like, let's speak to the photos throughout the entire trilogy as well. So he's a hobbyist. He just hears hobbits. That's all.

I wouldn't speak to Frodo either. No. But like, all right, Sam. So let's talk about the characters and as well.

So who is your favorite character in the whole franchise? When all Sami's going to go off the goonie, so it's fine. Yes. I love Sami's going to be one of my favorite characters.

My second one is Theoden. I absolutely love Theoden again. His, my, my, my. I thought over the Titanic sink.

Where was Goh? I thought over the Titanic. You book dick in my mouth. And this is my, another one of my favorite scenes is the Theoden one.

And I think he's absolutely classed. Like he's got naval shit about him whatsoever. And like at the end, where you're like, yeah, but we're not going to be able to fight them. That we've lost all them.

And he's like, and who gives a fuck? Let's just do this. I think he's bad. I think he's bad.

I think he's bad ass. Is anything. It's all his fault or like, he jinxed everything. Like, good, is this all you can conjure?

Sarumab? Yeah, I did. I didn't say. Yeah, I didn't say.

No, I know. It's not explosive. When were you done? As Lee said, he's got previous, like, he said the Titanic wouldn't simply try to beat the record.

So it was his fault. Titanic. So things will get an explosion in one bank. It's his problem.

Um, Robert Eule, who was your favorite? It might be a bit of an odd one, both. Guy who's in it for like 30 seconds. Yeah, he's only in it for 30 seconds.

And he's so imposing, and he's just this giant retin-baller that can be a hem. He's just an owl. I love him. I think that's taken down.

He's got his finger cut off, and he's taken away from him. His whole purpose and power, it comes from one ring. Other than that, he is nothing because the minute he loses that ring, he loses everything. He's not the big badass that he seems to be.

Yeah. It was like, I believe it was a podcast art and searching for his ring that he kind of find. He was like, I'm good. It's so precious.

And there was originally going to be another scene of Sarum at the end. It's on YouTube as well. That big troll that Aragon fights. The CGI to the troll over Sarum.

Right. Which has been ridiculous and shit. Yeah. Didn't need a typing.

Yeah, no, I agree. Again, one of mine. He didn't need to fight since then. He took it out because that part of the story wasn't so much about that.

Didn't want to take the focus away from Sam and Frodo's Journey's end. And again, I did have a little bit of a quibble about the big battle at the end. And again, this is not slagging the film off. It was just a little observation that I think if it just changed, it slightly would have made it a little bit better or a little bit less confusing.

Because it always said, the reason Sarum and still around is because he's connected to the ring. And when the ring gets melted in Mordor, the tower collapses, but the eye is still there. So in my head, as soon as that ring melted, the eye should have disappeared. And then the tower collapsed.

So it should have been done in that kind of order. So the ring's gone. His kind of presence is gone. And that's where I think it's the ring goes.

And then things have to fall down. And the eyes kind of freaking out because the tower's gone. But I was like, it literally looks good. But when I'm trying to think of it as a logically like minded type of film, I'm trying to find the scene and stuff like that, that would have made more sense for me.

Did that be around if that makes sense? The ring being destroyed doesn't mean Sarum's dead. It just means his soul's not in that anymore. Like, the Maya, isn't he?

It's the same race as Gandalf and Sarum and all the wizards in the Balrog. And their souls went to die or whatever. Basically Gandalf goes through it. It doesn't, he goes off and he can be sent back and put back into his human form or whatever.

But it's just a level of not always, not really in front of the city. It's like going to the next level. Yeah, it's a level of not always. But yeah, rather than jumping from bits to things, it's only what was your favorite character?

I've got two. And I don't know if this is just me being like, I've just got something about, you'll see the theme, right? So my two favorite characters, Eoma and Farimaya. And I think my thing is just like, men who've been pushed away, shut on, dropped by the people that should be there for them, but who still fight for good.

They don't use their shitty history or shitty life as an excuse for evil. And it shows how easy it is to make the right choices in that situation. I fucking love the fact that you said Farimaya. I said to Anne when I was watching it the other day, I was like, there's something that I am so drawn to with this character.

I can't put my finger on it. He's just not. He's a bit broken as well, though. That's a thing.

Yeah. I mean, I do you blame him? He's like, it's dancing absolutely asshole. And like, he has an opportunity, and he almost uses that opportunity to be like, look, I've got this chance to make my dad like us.

And who could blame him for doing that? And you know what? He's like, no, I need to do the right thing. And then, as many of them tell him, the penalty is death.

Like, you're going to die. And he's like, well, then, then it's forfeit. Like, that's for my life. Because I'm going to do the right thing here.

And that's what everyone absolutely bumps, but Farimaya, but Farimaya is the stronger man. Totally, because Farimaya, sorry, Borimaya would have quite easily taken it in half. He had opportunity after opportunity. He even went for it at one point.

Farimaya knew exactly what he wanted to do. But I love the fact that we get the extended scene with them too. Yeah. You don't understand Farimaya and Borimaya's relationship, unless you have that scene.

And it's lovely to know that Borimaya knew his dad was a dick too. It wasn't just the case of like, he was, he was side in with his brother. Yeah. Yeah.

And it got the cast in perfect for them to the set. Oh, it did. The description in the book is that it was, it was scary for Sam and Frodo. And look at Farimaya because it was Borimaya standing in front of them.

Because they looked exactly like each other. And the cast in of them too, just they looked very similar. It was perfect. Um, so what was your second?

Because he said Borimaya and... Amr, so, Amr, they had an interview, they're the horse rider. Oh, they're in a mark. Right.

Oh, man. I'm sorry, man. I'm sorry, man. I'm sorry, man.

You can't do it. Thanks for the story, but like for him, it's like, he's outcast, he's kicked away and he does leave, but he leaves with his man and continues fighting the good fight. And then when he's naked, he comes back. Like, he's a good man doing the right thing.

And again, I just, I don't know. I'm not too proud. Yeah, maybe I've got a thing for like... Maybe I do a little bit of a thing, but I do like the fact that it's of the ridomark, rider of Rohan.

I love that. I love the way he says ridomark too. He's meowsling on Daxant. It was very lovely.

But I don't like Daxant. 2J. I don't like the way he is with his sister at one point, even though for many years, Miranda Otter's character absolutely did my absolutives in. And it's only just recently I started to actually like...

Because we were all like, yeah, we were all pine and after him. Get over here. Get the back of the line. Stuff to win itself out of it.

He's clearly not interested. He's an 80-year-old man. Is he not interested? I don't know if he's like, oh...

I think he is. He's going to be lasses after the Grey Havens. I've got to have a back-up list. To be fair, it's got to be wrong.

Because as it finds out in the extended version, that is part of this race that doesn't age and stuff like that. So it's like, you, because you don't, like, it's on the normal thing. You don't want to find that out. That he's actually like ancient until later.

Doonodine. Yeah. Doonodine. I love the languages in this movie.

Tolkien was huge in the language. Tolkien could speak Latin before he could speak English at the age of four. He is always... He's talking about privilege, guys.

Privilege. Oh, this is the best of it. So we use this is how posh he was. He used to be in a club at university called TCBS.

The T club and Barovania in society. Let's get a set of I fucking hear them. And they all came in. And they all came in the library.

Belling. How bad that's in hardcore. Are they? He wrote the Hobbit in 1937.

And he followed it up with Lord of the Rings in 1954, the Fellowship. Two towers and... Two towers... Two towers and 54.

And then followed it up the following year. So he had everything already to go. And he was also a court-breaker in World War II. So he did the door until the other day that he had to go back and rewrite the Hobbit.

So the first edition of the Hobbit is completely different. Really? Because some of the language he has that people use to argue with him sitting there. There's little bits like Gollum gives away the ring.

Like they have a bet with him in Bilbo. And he just gives him the ring. But then when he writes the Lord of the Rings, he's like, oh, he can't just be given the ring away like that. That wouldn't...

Oh. How many changes fits the story in the Hobbit? Oh, wow. Okay.

I did not know that. Interesting. Really interesting. He might come across as a bit of a snodgy one, but he is a very interesting man.

He's George's comment in the chat. He's just like, it's wild, there's so much well-built, but he's still with him. Do you mind? Yeah, he's languages.

He can speak so many different languages and some of the things... And he created his own. Do you need to set it off-tier? He was like, I can't do it.

I'll do it. I'll do it. Big, big, bad mountain. What's the written model?

Where it's like, oh, we've got the place that sounds mega. Lake Flavin' have it. Okay. I've got two favor corridors.

One, it's quite... Just because he brings a little bit of comedy in the films, because that is much needed, because these films are very, very t-it themselves, very saviious. We're the shorts, but give me the dwarf. Like, these little kind of dorks and little things.

It kind of cuts the tension and cuts the boredom a little bit. Just again, not a bad, because if you do a two-sevious film and you're just too intense for too long, your attention does start to win. So you kind of drawers you're back in. So I think, like, say, John Rhys Davies was absolutely perfect cast and like, as a dwarf and...

He only sort of gloin'. He is middle. And you write this in really dark moments where he'll just say something and he just brings you back to enjoy yourself. Doesn't he?

Yeah, someone had to make all that in funny. He was the guy to actually do it. And I love these poor trails. Like, of this character, I love Brad Dauff and anything, but as I say, Worm's...

I'm gonna write down... Green the Worm tongue. Yeah. Just how sinister and well, just being Brad Dauff perfectly and just like, and the extended bit as well when he takes out Saruman.

Because the ladies' character I always get, can't get the name right. Saruman. I have to remind myself, I always get the middle of... You couldn't have changed them too a little bit, couldn't have.

Like, the two big bads. I do as well. I actually said, they're cocksy on your own. I was like, I feel like I can do so well with like, one of the rings through the air.

But I'm always just like, wait, is it Saruman or Saruman? Saruman, Saruman. Which one? Dracula and the big eye.

Oh, yeah. Dracula. Yeah. Yeah.

Sorry, just on the topic of Gimli, or John Rhys Davies, did you know that Anik Doh about the fact that he lost his middle finger when he was a kid? So like, he has a prosthetic middle finger and one day on set, he cut the finger, put blood on it, and he's like, I'm just kidding, I'm not kidding. I did not know that. Yeah.
