Yes. It's been a month hasn't it? It's been a month of burning products and it's caught up with Jess all at once. I feel like I'm tired but I'll probably sleep for about half 11 last night.

Jess was calling in the bed about two o'clock. Sonia hasn't been a bit and Sami has actually the part she's the party animal of us all. Sami never stops them and again I know we've talked about this on TikTok as well because like with that cool people go on TikTok live now with that type of people. Sami is a hidden party animal as we found out last night at the full of a horror.

Like we just wanted to go to bed. Well I was wanted to go to bed but Sami was known she was like I think at one point she actually showed us because I said I was going to go to bed. She got quite angry. I remember this as well.

Hey what can I say? You put a challenge in front of us. I'm going to accept this. And it is.

It was fun. He did end up staying so a bit longer than nine o'clock because I am old. I am an old fart. Yes.

I'm just to say as well I know it does not like leaves in the chat yet but the two naughty boys I am very disappointed in years today. You said let yourselves down. You said let me up north down. Sami is out with the moon years.

But yes I thought there'll be a video there'll be a video going up on TikTok explaining the actions of the two naughty boys as well there. The flicker gate as we'll call it. But yes we are still in the midst of spooky season. We are still almost coming to the end shall we say.

Yeah we've got this one and another one and we're done. We're moving into more. We're up to talk. Maybe I am getting a little bit Halloween that I might say.

Yeah really? Yeah yeah I'm kind of like because it feels like it's gone forever. I know. It felt like a long month for sure.

Well to be fair though Sami you do do a horror podcast so isn't it just Halloween every week? Every week is Halloween. That's probably why I'm tired. So before you give us them a very lovely taglines for this would you give us the display of their I will.

Hi you're just in the chat. When did you first get because I didn't watch this when it first when it premiered on Netflix? I know these types of shows will come out each year for a period. We will get a hold of Hill Hill House then Blige Manor.

Then this came out wasn't it? Yeah then Midnight Club. I think he was contracted wasn't he just churn out XM out and he's done now. He's contracted but he's off to Amazon.

Yeah yeah yeah. But I watch this when it aired. I don't know how it ended up happening but I was off work. I don't know whether I had an annual leave or I was on sick.

I really don't remember when I was off work and I was treating Pat and ruined. I was like sitting on my PC and I was like oh I've got the Netflix app. I'll just say for something I can put on my local games. I'll just have it on the other monitor and so that it was by the guy who'd done Paul and Hill House and I was like I'll check it out.

I stayed up till 6am. I watched every episode back to back and the next day I went to sleep at 6pm. I got it like 2pm and the next day I said the cocksy. I've watched this amazing show you have to watch it and he was like well let's watch it and then me and him watched it and we've been to the full season so I watched the season twice in 24 hours.

That's my story. That's a lot. That's a lot. That is a lot.

Especially like how heavy Jake and Ojik are sending in the chat but how heavy dialogue it is and there's some meaningful stuff behind it. Mine I can just jump in. Was there last year? Oh yes I remember here because we were on this day last year my face was memory.

My face was memory this morning was a picture of the first episodes and I took the caption was I need to get that right as well get this out the way with because I really had a lot of anxiety about watching this. I don't do animals in programs that have something bad to happen to them and when someone mentioned the scene with the cats which I never would get into and I was like no can't do it. It was just a sun yeah. To be honest the cats look very funny.

It's not realistic. Maybe you could get around it and it was something you've got us to watch it. Yeah. Okay everyone will watch this.

That was interesting because that was my stumbling block as well because I think it'd come out and that was the big buzz and the thing everyone kept on saying about it was the scene with the cats and I'm the same as Sam. So as it comes to animals if animal gets because I think what was it? Drag her to hell. I was all on board filmed for the girl and seated something in that movie that was like I hope the bitch dies.

That was my turn point in that movie as well. We didn't even finish it. The minute she got the kitten and paused it no one. Don't forget Peter and find out what happens to that cat and he went there.

Yeah we're not watching the end of this and I was like just go to the end literally skip to the end. Sorry I get dragged to hell I'm not thankful for that. Bitch deserved it. What about you Jess?

What was it the website called? Sorry. I don't know. It's a website called does the dog die but it includes the animals and you literally google Will effect dying in this film.

Everything and I do check now on that website but it's not going to make a cover as trauma any trigger warnings and that's really good. What about you Jess? What was your first experience of in Night Mass? Yeah I think I was ready for it coming out to Netflix because obviously once Mike Flanagan stuff started and I'm a huge fan of like anthology series where they keep the same actors and they read just into each series.

American Horror Story is about them very very fast. I've never met another girl in the night and it's like brilliant because it's like Hill House and like Blimeine is my all-time favorite. It's really exciting like another one and again the same set of players and see how it would plan out. It was yeah I think I did the same thing I think I mentioned as well and it was just a bit of a thing.

I was like oh yeah I did that. No. Well it's quite interesting because as you said there's a lot of shows now and with the streaming services we are being quite spoils shall we say when the release to get the full season and there's a lot of episodes of TV shows that would get the build. I bet you can't just busy how we're through or watch all in one segment.

This one for me like this this and Hill House you could not stop watching. As soon as you finish the episode it was like it was almost like enticing you're in to know about the others and I know other shows have done similar things but you can get a little bit of fatigue. You can get tired. This one I've never got the fatigue.

No. I kind of did in the latest one for the House of Usher. The House of Usher. Yeah I kind of felt like after and that so I do want to revisit that and kind of give it the attention that I didn't the first time around.

Hornet of Hill House though is my all-time favourite thing he ever watched. It's one that I go back to on probably once a year if not twice I even have it on the background when I'm at work I want to be in that world so badly and it just gives me such a Stephen King vibes now. I watch it now I've seen like Dr. Sleep and more of his story.

Do you think that about Midnight Mass? I guess Stephen King vibes from it. Yeah especially like the whole setting of it and the community of it as well. It could be very it could be very it's Mike Flanagan's Derry Well yeah I watch this after Sami had watched it because I say I was quite hesitant and everything I said but it's weird this one didn't come with the fun fair of like Hill House or even Blige Manner.

This one was kind of like snuck in through the back door. It's like oh it's just being released and it's a Mike Flanagan but the advertisement and the weird kind of work because it's almost an odd it sounds weird compared it's almost like it's from Dustle Dawn type aspect because when you first watch from Dustle Dawn you don't expect vampires. When you watch in Midnight Mass you don't expect vampires. That's the way I could would compare it and this would accept and or it's completely different tones completely different type of vampires and different like different ways of being then but the whole bait and switch was just so beautiful.

And again with the characters these characters I'm sorry but every single one of them is just so well crafted even if they've got like a small part from the lines and as Jake said the monologues that they do you know everything in the existence of these characters where they've come from where they are now and it's just magical and how effortless it is. Yeah there is a reason not a reason but a kind of this is this is being in my Flanagan's head since dear one what he wanted to become whatever it is he wanted to do in movies because of television and it's actually it's sort in his head he's used it in his it's actually part of his Flanagan verse so in Gerald's game she is holding that she throws the boot at midnight mass which is actually written by the character in Hush which is played by his lovely wife Katie Siegel so it's been there in the bass burner it's very personal it is he is the main protagonist in this whole thing he's a kid who grew up on a in a community re-asd Roman Catholic he is the person who is having to deal with variety and grief and trauma and it's all him so it's really it's incredibly personal being for my Flanagan to release this. Yes I can tell I got mesmerized when I watched this as well because this could have been dealt with in so many different ways or it could have been used as a platform to be anti-religion and whatever but it's so well done and it never bad mouths or pokes fun at that element either there's a comfort in there as well and makes it all not religious at all but the comfort aspect that makes it a small town gets from like the church and like the all-timey like values and stuff it's done with such care and love as well and again it's weird talking about that type of aspect in a horror tv show aspect yeah yeah I mean to be honest with this one you can ask the question what is the true horror is it the is it the vampagans? It's not even quality of that woman which was awful in grace too, anyway is it the human side of it or is it the actual vampire side of it, it's very it doesn't mock religion, no it actually shows you what religion has done this community is completely broken when you first meet it, the whole town was ruined by all your spirituals which has had a massive effect on them and then religion and the church is being the one thing that's kept them all together as a community but then it's a breaking down of that what actually what does religion mean to you what are you willing to give up for it and I really I and it's so multi-layered because you think with this thing that it's one thing I would deal with you know the opening scene where you're dealing with the fact that oh my gosh this guy's gonna drop kill somebody and you know he's then having to go back and face reality of life after that but then you flip it on the tent and then it's all about you've got there's religious aspects to it you've got trauma to it you've got grief to it you've got so many different layers it's it's almost kind of it can be a bit overwhelming to take it all in but once it settles in there it's a quite a beautiful thing really it's like the family dynamic as well like Riley where as you said with his shot the like the most shocking entrance to this character is basically him lying like sitting on the side of the road contemplating his actions and what's like what basically the repercussions from him making a decision that would cause harm for the rest of his life and then going back to the small town where everyone knows your business everyone knows like the ins and everything and his family kind of like trying to accept the decisions that not just led him to where he was but like say that his father like it was like a great old with like any of the shows he's been in is still not like it's quite hesitant to forgive that he left him it's not the fact that it's like that kind of relationship because again that's what I loved about this show is like that's my kind of family dynamic where it could have been all American all teeny bopper and stuff I got but was so fucking real and so kind of rare times as well I feel like the depiction of like I don't know why or how because it's nothing like my life or my mom but like the depiction of the mom and the way she interacts is for me perfect like she's trying to get everyone together she's you know she's just like you know right on the phone and like she goes out for a cigarette just like he says hello and just just trying and best is by being able to physically see like he does not want to talk to her son but she's trying to do what she can like I feel like that's the perfect depiction of a mum in that kind of situation like that's what mum's doing right like the time she's so well written I don't think there's one character in here who's not well written no don't play their part I mean we're just talking about them she is horrible she is horrible but she is she's a well she is the voice and fears of so many people out there yeah who are exactly like her and she did that or you know that just how well she did it was it we hated that so much because how well she did her job yeah yeah she depicts kind of unfortunately what is the work side of yeah panic like to me she's so much like the character in the mist the one that's yeah like I've seen this but it's for me it's when it comes to conversations with the sheriff and it's really sure like I was like a terrible person because he's my heart we have hours and it's like yeah but he could learn better he can learn hours and stuff I don't want to do that because he was as wrong and I was as right yeah and how to say we've been talking to the kid in and so he's still the one like he's a great character even towards the end he's been one he has actually seen the truth of what's happening to them all and he's just seen as crazy it's not the same as the rest of them and it's it's an interesting sort of take on they say there's the aspect of like it's really literally the old court of church where it's like there's a deep undecided like thing of ceded yeah when you're still devout one thing and you can't see anything else but that one path yeah and I think that's kind of the point of the thing like they're all looking at one path that's it it's not the miracle isn't it the miracle makes them willing to overthrow kind of logic and it's like no this is the answer and I feel like like you said earlier for like the the show doesn't necessarily mock religion but it definitely captures the idea of religious guilt very well almost like you're so guilty about the fact that you have a lack of faith that you're willing to then blindly follow people who are there's one particular line absolutely loved and it's when it's been a bit of us having a chat with Riley's um not Riley it's Flynn sorry I don't know why Colin Riley and this Riley Flynn is a flint I can't remember yeah so Riley Flynn's mum is having a chat with Bev and they're talking about Riley interested in you know he's gonna go to hell for what he's doing he's took a life blah blah blah and um and Riley's mum doesn't get mad she doesn't get angry she does the very mum thing of staying calm and the line which I absolutely love because it's what you want to tell all those religious fundamentalists she says God loves my son just as much as he loves you why does that make you so angry yes it's such a good fucking line because it's it's kind of this idea that I'm better than you because I love God in a better way and I am well actually know that the Bible says God loves everyone equally and I just fucking get in Riley's mum because that's such a it's such a powerful line and you can see the look on her face as well like she's like she's my wife doesn't bother me so much like it's such a testament to that character as well because if you follow her arc all the way through from the mother who's trying to keep it all together she never wavers for the person who she is even at the end when there's shit it's the fan she is still exactly the same person she was the minute you saw her yeah it's such a it's that that line is probably a testament to her and her character but just to go back to you mentioned the sheriff anyone see a common theme with the sheriff's outfits it's a face to mind um last of us isn't it Jordan I said red dead for sure I can see why you would think that but yeah it's Jordan so Flanagan and uh Raul I love Raul you know I would do it for Raul calling him Raul came me up and I'd do enough for never grenade by honestly I stuck with eyes on because of that man oh it's amazing it's based his whole outfits from start to finish on the last of other it was the one out of all out of everything that I've read about this that was the one funny thing because everything's kind of like it's not serious but it's it explains things so in like in a way it's one other funny thing that's not what you saw about it's a pro-ish they're the priest on the last day of filming each end up in a hot dog costume right?

it's like it's such a sad day I don't want it to be remembered for being sad so I would rather like people remember it for fun reasons so we just turned up in a giant hot dog costume oh that is because I'm him standing in front of the church just as a giant hot dog it's a beautiful church as well by the way it can actually be nice yeah that was very very old fashioned American style that church though it's interesting though because this week I've watched two vampire things like I've watched Midnight Mass all with Raul and then me and my lovely wife we watched Salem's Lot the new one and the vibes through this like is kind of similar but like say less of the religious aspect more of like taking over a small town and then becoming more animalistic but the vampires in Salem's Lot and the vampires in Midnight Mass are very similar like I know you can't really do things like the eyes glistening and like the the the lust for the blood and all in Salem's Lot they do like do it as the people who have the virus is like a blood deficiency where in this it's just like pure greed and like it makes the blood almost like a drug that's when it turned into vampires you can see it was just quite interesting too but just to go back on what Jess said as well about the interaction with the sheriff and Bev the one of the most brutal and scary scenes and it's not anything to do with the vampires or anything it's that scene when they're in the school and having the tit for tax that again because and again not to generalize but I can imagine Americans having that conversation to this day like saying when they say no keep religion out with public schools and stuff like that and like why keep religion out why don't keep some religion out typing and all when we were at school we should just yeah we got like RE so we got like different types of like studies when we were at school but oh my god my RE lesson was learning about Derek Bentley and the last time to be hanged in the UK that was my religious education lesson not even Jogan I we watched the whole term we watched parts of the film every week and then we were sitting in the desert yeah that was my RE and so they definitely kept religion out of my school no but it's just anyone I never did RE in school all right oh really yeah my dad's a bit of it yes so he demanded to the school that he would not allow for me to do religious education because he found it'd be indoctrination that he would make me want to be religious just very misunderstood really it's like massively misunderstood but that's not what it is that it's just not a rejection system I'll raise it to about devouge atheist hilarious if you take him in a church my god and did anyone notice the titles of each episode no no no no no I really I was too busy powering through just one what makes me please come please get that and episode one is called book one genesis all right two it's called book two some right but three it's called book three proverbs and then you've got I can't see this limitations or limitations because it's about lemme when decisions let me think I generally thought that's what it says and book five is gospel book six is acts of the apostles music where it's going with the book seven is revelation of course was part of the bible and the episode where so the angel slash vampire is it i've just had me call it an angel i've been i've been reading and watching stuff on it where people are having the argument of angel versus you know oh yeah i think ill pointed out the chat as well it's quite it's actually is fit as well um yeah she's she's pretty from the bible she's um with him even then lilyth that's right i'm gonna i'm gonna i'm gonna i'm gonna i'm gonna upset syntellity so i'm gonna upset christianity as well so with her christianity's got vampires zombies with zombie jesus because jesus come back to life after a few days uh what are the monsters in there as they got frankenstein i'm i'm saying is the invisible man there like say what are the tricks coming coming saying the bible the invisible man has gone himself what i said that bush i'm so clever to you know depict it as the vampire perceiver's financial because obviously he's just that thing it's the whole sacrament thing of you know yeah you go the dodgy line you have the weird way for this good um and it works really well once obviously he's doing it and he's feeding it to them all and then just don't know it's like you have to take it particularly the girl with the wheelchair right so you make sure oh my god yeah like and that and that and that and that and that and that validates his because what he's done is take away choice right he's taken away free will he's made this decision for the town you know stripping away and he admitted all in the file that somebody really understands that point you know what i did this for me i did this because i wanted to and he gets it it's almost well white you know what he's like yeah but he finally admits it but um yeah it takes away tries but when the miracles are happening that validates what he's doing and you know even he can see bebs of cunt but he's still allowed to help because she's a means to an end you know she's helping him she's the one who's gonna get the message out he can only do so much he can provide what they need she's she's gonna be the mouthpiece for it all but oh good god does it dramatically backfire on him oh yeah but like his transformation in this as well because again he comes back he's like the younger self uh so spoilers anyone you see that coming no no no no that's it's good itself that episode itself was the hook for me it's episode four right that one that was the point at which i was like i i i will never see anything this good again because let you say it up until that point you don't even know what the show is going to be about you think it's just about this fission cloud and then you see this old man and he's telling the story and you're like oh i was wondering where he was what's going on and then that that fucking reveal holy shit it's something that we even see people older people looking at him like we if you go back and watch it now you can see them like yeah yeah it's so good it's a beautiful story that starts coming as well and it's lovely because there's so much stuff in the series that is slipped in there um and it's when they're slipping the dementia storyline and it's basically that woman is the only one who properly because obviously there were a thing she would know his face but yeah because she's got the dementia when she's mentioning about him it's like oh that's she's having an episode yeah and it's kind of beautiful that he keeps up his and erin like trying to bring her back and sort of like we can still have another go with this we can buy again because we can be young and start off and kind of like a love story isn't it like you strip away all the other parts like he is the reason this is all happening and the reason he's doing it is for lovers for her and for that daughter yeah which again which you never say kon but as you said Sonia when you watch it back for the second time you do catch things like you can watch it on you like those those things but the thing that threw me because like and again not to say it was a bad aspect like I've got thing one thing that I could never work out was like how he like was able to do what he was doing like during the day and stuff like that and then all of a sudden he turned it over by it until I watched it the second time I got I got the end bit again I was like all right they have to die to become the undead because they're still alive he when he got like attacked by the angel like when he was on his pilgrimage he didn't wasn't killed because the angel mustn't you to get him to come back and then he had that hemorrhage or that that kind of like fit where he died I think he making poison you know like the way vomit makes this thing it's convulsion it's like it's like it's like it's like it's like it's like it's like a tension because bev there's a theory I've been down such a rabbit hole about the theories right there's a theory that the reason Bev took a poison wasn't a killer dog it was to kill Pruitt oh right interesting yeah and the dog might have just gone into it at the same time maybe like I mean I think it's it's it's probably left open to our interpretation and we're all going to my sheep did it right because she's an asshole but well yeah because he questions things like he's not he's actually quite a little bit open-minded to more than what she will ever be you know where her values lie it's one road he kind of rears off it sometimes and he's empathetic he's empathetic he's stupid I love him you know he's probably one of my favorite characters he he's obviously an all of the other fun and diverse but I feel like he acts so well in this and there's one particular scene where I've forgotten a name sorry but the girl in the wheelchair goes to his house to confront him and she forgives him and oh my fucking god I was a wreck I'm keeping up now thinking about it because he's just so grateful and relieved but he's so devastated as well and you can tell there's a man that's never gonna forgive himself despite the fact that she's standing there forgiven him like holy shit but he's acting like oh I love him he's in Dr. Sleep he's in Midnight Mass he's in he's in everything he's in the house he's one of the groundskeepers yeah he's absolutely fantastic but we whole with the priest as well apparently all of them isn't it yeah because he's got people who need it and apparently the conversations when I was reading because again this reflects on my shenanigans variety the conversations within them are very real like people are so close or in a meeting like you think you were sitting in an actual one of how good they how good he's written it because you can tell he's been he's been he steps yeah I love I think those are some of my favorite you know what I say it's a very monologues heavy some of my favorite dialogue is the conversations during those meetings like it's just so again so real like it feels like you just like apply on a wall in an aiming no no I think I posted one of the videos on like on the socials of the initial meeting with like the father and Riley just because it's so like intense but also kind of invite you into that conversation as well which is quite nice so just what we've got to say lovely it's a great way to do a character like that because obviously he's been using like a second goal around that you see this a lot now in we get into a modernised version of Christianity and just because of his coming out is this thing of like no it's not everything it used to be the theory is right like the world is changing we've got to change too without compromise 100% of values but understand things are evolving and you see that from him of like this is his second goal and it's like we can't do it like we'll do back in the day it has to without now for us to actually do what we were meant to do is be in these good people reading yeah that's my bet just doesn't get it because you still way back into the dark yeah I was watching a really really good video today um of the the the comparing between religious groups and cults and where's that live yes that's not bad modern cults don't do it clearly the different the different the different the disclaimer one time exactly but the definition of the cult is not technically a bad thing not when you're comparing it to watch you know religious religion actually yeah i was gonna say a really good you give it a really good segway there because i genuinely feel like bev is the depiction of groups like the west rabaptist church where they take an idea and fundamentally change it to their own means and they forget the original meaning and i think bringing sheriff hissant i'm never gonna stop loving royal college but um he says it brilliantly when he's he stops talking about the bible and i love when he starts saying like of course we've read the bible because when waslam doesn't mean that we're like ignorant to other religion and that's the whole point right is like being aware of it all and it shows how small minded she is that she only knows what she wants to know yeah she always like inside like the bad parts of like the corong and stuff like like the violent parts of take on to violent books like with her in the bible and then she's the worst of what a cult can be because we all know jones town the branch of idioms they are the worst of what a cult can do cults are never found a look at we can audience via it but yes other cults are jones town the flamata which yeah she is the worst of cult and she's also the worst of religion as well so the religious aspect of it so she is what he is the best of what a cult can be and the way that he wanted to lead it's it was such an interesting interesting like take on both sides of it are you trying to say i'm like monster monster now cults are good on game look at how fast she was to hand the kulea out like she is definitely very scary thing wasn't the kulea it was when she changed the plans in order to open the doors that was that's the true thing she put war on her own on her own place and she's like it's like it's like these people aren't true believers they don't deserve and there's certain aspects like do that but it's not that word again though like deserved what riley's mum says you know like god loves my son as much as he loves you but for her it's the idea of it being something you deserve and she thinks she's buying herself into the top spot but there's no such thing and that's the best thing about what you said about the west bar about this judge you can't join them people because you regardless of even if you did everything they asked you to they would still find a way of being able to say you're not worthy enough no i didn't argue that point and she did exactly the same it was like it's like you're having fucked you because feels like a failure and we've all kind of we really are already heavily too untyping not enough don't do them things but um and half like to a certain point you think he's going to be the hero that's where you think all the way through the short it kind of is but not in the way you're expect yeah absolutely i'm not gonna lie i was devastated i actually thought after what happened how can we continue without him yeah how without him i know i was quite lost for a few minutes and i was like oh it's okay we actually have other people who can carry this on it's not just on the back of his shoulders and i think that's not about the series nothing is held on the back of anyone's no it's because it's a community and i think what i love about this show right is this is symbolism like everything can be a metaphor for something else and there's a balance between everything so like the symbology of the community like i watched youtube short the day just randomly popped up i think probably because i've been watching a lot of midnight my stuff and then saying that mike blannigan had a huge argument with some Netflix guys because they said that um Riley should have a job there were like there's no way he would leave prison and not have a job lined up and mike was like absolutely not this is the man who is lost who has you know spent all these years trying to atone but he's done but can't forgive himself and there's absolutely no way he's gonna be on the blow i'm trying to get back into like lost skill right you know like he wants to go home and he wants to continue this journey and apparently they were really really mad they were like determined they're like she has to have a job it just doesn't make sense that's not ridiculous because we're watching him pick his life back up again and we don't want to see him going to do his nine to five and then trying to figure it out it just wouldn't hit us hard would it? no no no sorry Jess i think it's right though for his part of the story because i've seen he kind of is forced to have to go back home it's quite getting hit to that village yeah it's the lifestyle and everything that comes out of his okay scales character reds kind of turn it out to go see girls? katie's a gals um is some of my kids have been in my favourite month married with children so my mum can explain that and it's all been she was mike with left as well the childhood sweethearts and it's like why did you come back and why am i back and what life to go this way but i'm here hitting it and that was technically in a really sad way he just gets his comments in the end yeah it plays out and does get kind of as he deserves it's quite often what he thinks he deserves oh yeah you're right what he thinks he deserves yeah if i would sleep every night and he sees her and she oh no scenes are hard you know like when he's lying in bed and it does that hammer shep and he's just lying face to face when you can see that when you can see the japs in her it's the scene it's the it's the actual where it all happened it's the most harsh irons and everything flashing so it's so well done it's so well done beautifully from the boat at the end and he's looking at my friend again's wife and then it changes and it's back down here it's very much similar to the guy who shot the girl in the wheelchair where it's like you've got your resolution that's actually a good one but you've got your resolution in the end this is what you were always present to all yeah i always thought it was more redemption he was redeemed he was you know he didn't he did what he needed to do kind of thing but the thing is that the redemption was as Jess said for it was for himself it was for no one else anyone else had kind of moved on or probably forgiven him it was like he could not let that go himself but you know what like something that i actually love again and again i'm bringing a bachelor like that balance it's all about like metaphors and symbology what i absolutely love is the conversation that erin and Riley have about what happens when you die oh my god i don't know if you've noticed but the ways that it actually happens they switch places so he becomes quite quite a believer in that moment i think the redemption him seeing her it's like all very symbolic right where is for her it's very logic desk this is the end there's no going back this switch places they switch ideas but again it depends on the situation and what works for you like erin in that situation needed to be logically because and that sounds really dramatic the fear of the world was in her hands where him it was kind of like almost like a religious moment and again i know this really weird it was probably one of the most beautiful but brutal death things i was saying it's like within a split second because as just said like they're on that board it's almost like a romantic moment the you don't know what's gonna happen either yeah like did you guys expect that happen you kind of did because you when you said there's but vampires these the sun's coming up there's no way to hide there's no shit i just didn't know how they would show it i thought that was the thing and that's the thing that kind of reminded that it's a horror it's not just like i say this it's nicely drama thing so you get like the flip where you've got that moment where Riley's reaching out to the young girl who died and he didn't want like her to die and he's kind of and she smiled back like almost like he'd get that moment and you get poor erin who's just laughing at us as it's gone here so you have a whole other video and i watched it Paul i was just like why am i rewatching this as fuck yeah he's trauma but the fact that he took her in the middle of the water where he knew he couldn't get away couldn't get away he had to face it he was facing up to what he did he was forgiving himself at the same time and he was saying goodbye to the love of his life and then we're showing her as well because i feel like in a weird way it probably means an if we've done it on land she might have thought he'd done something like he doused himself in kerosy you know you know when all of that is he needed to see he needed to see it not that yeah like someone needs to see it firsthand and he kind of passes the torch over but you've seen it now you need to go literally he is the human torch on yeah one woman's and then just like flame on flame sorry we might run against wife is such a weird one um because i'm a conversation about this yes to the quiz and it's a weird story with her because it's yeah i think it's a wonderful hand because obviously it all surrounds miscarriage with her and what's happened and it's so sad when it's that thing of you know because of the vampire element it's disappeared so when she goes to the mainland you never were but you mentally okay but it's a deeper kind of level of that very awful thing for anyone to ever have then it doesn't just leave it there because it's like using your imagination you know how well it is the half conversations about it's like that one guy who was turned to a shunter being turned and he's just devastated because he killed his family and children and his dislike like it's almost like you say that that need and not the hunger to not be able to stop yourself but then the realization afterwards that kind of like what the fuck have I just done and it's like yeah it's very reminiscent of John's town and when yes like saw initially the guests that themselves after yeah they were because they were taking it in sections so by the time it was getting to the end they were like these people had already seen their children oh by the time it got to them and the realization and devastation kicked and that's when people started fleeing oh but obviously didn't get very far yeah but it's so it's such a clear not clear but like a reminiscent of what happened to John's town you know you totally right I think that's what the show does so well is it takes a seam an idea and element but it also makes it reminiscent of something else and you're a bit of oh that's that's this but it's also it tastes like you know like yes vampirically we know that there's a loss to a blood we know there's a hunger to eat but the religious guilt of doing something that you think you're supposed but nothing makes me happier than her trying to dig a hole on the beach with her hands how true is that to her character yeah yeah yeah she thinks of all the details of her the desperation in her though as well she dies alone as well yeah I'm scared and afraid yeah yeah love it because even the odd job guy who's like a little sidekick who goes around doing like a business he even goes come everything goes down they all go back so it looks like right now oh yeah yeah when she says that when she says that it's like when because erin kitty segal her character she her final her final player is that she slashes the angels yeah the wings so the idea is that the angel has gone it's white out burnt up yeah because she can't feel her legs anymore i agree with that i feel like that's canon i accept that as the end and the vampire is gone she no longer has the sacrament in it which is like she's walking off you do start to see it at the end because you see it's trying to fight with the way it's like yeah all over the place but it's happening at night it's all those are scratched there's no effort to hide now no one's let it take it in because everyone's now burning dead they say they're he goes back in the church and she's pouring petrol and you expect a reaction and he just kind of lets his guard down going i'm so fucking proud of you uh it's like it's like it's like it's like it's like it's like yeah that's my girl anything that is the control factor of air why she has all the houses trashed and stuff like that and it's like they only have the church to reside in i don't think she's more about the community center isn't she like that's her community section and they're they're that seat at the beginning of the series but they all call it bev's communities and because like they're like that's what the money was for she wanted it and it's not even used like it's like boarded up it barely gets used for the aiming and anyone knows the oculus uh yes on the stage and the community another part of the planning universe it's such a kind of little bastard isn't he yeah why everyone is a huge fan of what Mike Flanagan's doing is because he just somehow has this amazing knack to do the most tragic heart-rushing stories where i've kind of no one really ever gets a great engine i think it's like maybe your case no you're right but the all end beautifully it's beautiful because you're kind of not sat there like oh that was really bad they just killed all these characters like oh the old side so beautifully yeah i'm like i love this show this show is beautiful and they're like what about well everyone dies it's the same it's the same with the whole one in an hill house yeah into the role in the red room so what the fuck does that mean like did they all perish is the role together in the red room they want to go on off hill at here but there is a theory that the old's dead and that like that ending sequence where like he's sobering stuff is just not real but i don't know if i'm buying it that thing we are not i like the idea that it's okay but we have to come to come back at some point of hill house where i find the most beautiful it makes me absolutely fall every time i watch it and it's the groundskeepers oh trying to turn it back to the house to make sure it's out there and she's got the baby the one that they talk about that she lost beauty and death and i think that we should be able to find beauty and death it's not a bad thing because death means that we've lived life and it shows that so well that's true to the way i put this that's even riley though like you know riley dies but on his terms and it's his choice and it's beautiful and yeah like it might be really good at that he's also really good at bringing the conversation of death into it because it's a conversation that people don't want to have what he wants to talk about but unfortunately it's the one thing that we all have it's a certainty yeah it's a certainty we talk about dying for years i'm going to talk about my father keeps saying it all the time he's gonna live forever and i'm starting to quite believe him but yeah he's bringing the conversation of death out because it is a taboo subject it's like you shouldn't touch that it's way too sensitive but their conversation between riley and kia is some of the beautiful ways of having a conversation with someone about death and it kind of give me a bit of a and i don't know if this is the right phrase to use given the subject matter but a woman for the feeling inside like but again kind of like how they are looking at it yeah kind of like it's a community feeling i mean i love to see it's the only one in mid-night master like i sit there and just bald when she sounds when having the conversation what they think happens yeah but i know it's obviously old focus on her child and she's like i think she gets there and my dad's there and my granddad and she grows up with them and she wait yes i'm sorry it's very psychological it's also so so so so illogical as well because that theory only applies if you talk about the afterlife is like a personal room that you go into that is only orchestral your mind because all these people you imagine are going to be there will also have their own concepts of what they want to see when they get there so it's just a mean thing that And it's the fact that all he wanted to do was, you know, pray with his son and his son, was like, you know, investigate and Christianity, and you could see the fear in him. And maybe that was his crime, was, you know, like, not allowing his son to make his own choices. Like, law for him, sounds pretty absolutely.

And I was going to say, I had a devolved to piston. It's usually shit for me. But the only thing I wanted to say was, I don't know if you guys knew that Raul Coley got really, really ill. So he, in his mind, decided initially that he wanted to share for Santa be quite fat.

He wanted to be quite chunky. So he acted a lot of weight on in a very short space of time. And then filming was meant to begin. But then Covid hit.

It was literally, it was like May 2020. And they didn't end up starting filming. So we had to keep this weight on him, which he wasn't expecting to keep on for so long. And then he got Covid.

And he was incredibly unwell. I think he got hospitalized. He had to lose the weight. He had to lose the weight.

He was like, my body. And he said he didn't get it properly either. He was just like, right McDonald's, right. Ice cream, right chocolate.

I got it. Yeah. I feel like there's only a certain handful of actors who could really get that like method. But it's because the year tree and themselves so well to do it.

So I was playing that and it got an episode two and I closed the game. I was like, there's no... There's no... You know, like, and then obviously watch the next day.

We've got to watch this fucking show. I get that. I totally get that. I'm going to try to easily get bored and press play on episodes.

Yeah. It's the very watchability of it. So, and then we started watching it again. I think about eight months ago, we got about halfway through and then we unfortunately ran into other shows and I was like, yeah, that's what she is instead.

But we do that a lot actually. We're like, we've got so many shows we haven't finished and he gets mad at us for as well. No, we just see it. My brain, I'm just like, I'm like, right next.

And then I move on to something else. But this, I just could not stop listening. I could not stop paying attention. I could not stop feeling such like intense emotions.

And that's why I love this show so much because it never fails still, despite relying so heavily on dialogue. Yeah. It's not just dialogue though, because I think just in the dialogue aspect is not just changing it, but visually, these shorts. It implies nothing happens yet.

You're right. No, no, but visually, absolutely camera work with the effects to use and like even like the little, like did you say miss or so well done? Anything that Mike Frany can think of when we talk about Dr. Sleep.

Visually, everything is so pristine, is so beautiful. Like the tones, the colors, everything is just magical to just even that's a face for the eyes. It is. I feel like the color of the island itself, it the colors are bleak, right?

And the idea of an island with a population of what? 131 people like that would be bleak as fuck, you know what I mean? Like it's so good. And I love like how the characters all wear like bleak pale colors until they start getting younger and then you start getting these pops of color put into them.

It's so clever. And I think one of the things that a lot of people didn't like about the show was the aging, because some of them you can clearly say aren't that old, but you didn't know yet. Oh yeah, the mama. I didn't want to use CGI and I respect that.

You know, I respect that. You know, I respect that you some only see these people getting younger as the show progresses. The mama dementia. You're like, yeah, you are not a brain.

My brain was like something not right with this. I didn't care either, because it's the authenticity of it all. And the fact that he's not relying on something else to be able to tell the story he wants to tell. I think like Benjamin Button where like it's very clearly CGI, you know, like obviously the honey is it because it's a film and whatnot.

But I feel like actually just having someone in a gray wig and then having their hair slowly get blown. No, it's just a really nice touch. Like there's a video on YouTube where you can actually watch like it's like sped up and it'll just show you like a person's like the aging process. It's so cool to watch.

But it's one back to all. It's one back to all Hollywood. It's one back to using mini-glove as a way to be able to just be age and deage. Practical facts.

These are like beautiful books that you get to visually go through. And you style everything like a book as well. It's all so descriptively done on the visuals and the dialogue. That it is like reading off the page in a sense.

And it suits his style so well. I think, I don't know whether it's still happening. I'm sure it's Stephen King next to him. He's going to do this.

You're clamoring for more. But for what we got, I think it leaves just the right amount of nice tears in the mouth. It doesn't leave- It's that thing of versus having a really nice meal if I'm satisfied and then went to all- eat meal and end up putting sick afterwards. The seconds when you shouldn't really ask for the seconds.
