TRANSCRIPT · AUTO-GENERATED

Hey everyone and welcome to the Nerdio of North Hardcast, the Nerd Hardcast hosted by two Northern nerds. I'm one of your hosts Sam. And I'm the host Paul. I can't get his words out here.

And today we're finally doing it. It's finally here. We are going to be talking all about Scream. I'm so excited.

I was going to expect you to actually scream. But we're not going to go to the end standards just yet. Not just yet. I'll just make it one later on but not just I am so excited for this.

When you recommend doing Scream I was well for it. It is iconic. When it comes to horror films it is up there in the top, I would say, women cl and I was like, oh, this film is fun. I enjoyed it.

This week I've tried to do more and I've watched it all four of the screens and even the level of the game quality but still in the beginning they've got the basics right. And as I said with horror films they did always form this rules and form the formula. You knew what was going to happen. And this kind of like through that we made it a little bit more special.

Oh, definitely it's saved a genre because at the time when Halloween came out Halloween was massive. It opened up the slash genre. It was not the first. It opened up the slash genre and then just more and more and more and around the end of the eighties it was so drawn and people were sick to death of it.

They absolutely sick of the slash genre. So we took a massive break and horror films were really relying on slashes. That was what we were getting and then all of a sudden Scream came out. Written by the guy who did Dawson's Creek.

They covered his having but it was refreshing. It was the way it was teens at the time. It was sort different and having that massive twist in it because it was huge. It was a big twist.

It wasn't scared to poke for itself as well. That was the thing a lot of the horror films did start getting themselves to. Seriously all go the opposite side and did go well we're screamers gone now with the sequels. That's all we were getting.

We'll get like three one two three four five six. In the season with the season. And the season with the season and the season with the season. The season with the season with the season takes a month.

They've got brilliantly amazing. I can't remember. I've never seen it to be. I'm not a massive.

I love the first one. But I'm not a massive Jason fan. But Halloween went down the same route. Halloween one two three four five.

But this actually helped bring out bring Halloween back a bit because Halloween he actually actually all came out this and I think was written again by Ken Williamson the guy who did Dawson's Creek who actually wrote I Know What He Did Last Summer as well. But I'm not going to say it. I know he's not doing too much now. I know he's a negative producer on Scream 5.

I don't think he's had anything to do with the right-hand side of things as well. Which again it's a good take. But yeah I can still remember being introduced to Scream as well. Because us being as young as we are we went all the pictures to see this first came out at the cinema.

But I do remember going to the cinema and seeing the trailer and the trailer was a little bit different to what you're expecting. Especially when you see him I think it was a common with film I was seeing at the time. But it came on you got the And that's aspects I remember saying like I know me and Sam's talk about what we're going to do. We're like a revisiting of the original screen trailer as well in a few minutes just to see and we'll get that on the podcast as well.

So you can see it. So well here if you just un-sportify it all. But it's just an interesting thing how trailers have changed to the years as well. What I can remember going to the never send on saying it and just being totally like obsessed even just with the trailer and saying I need to see this film.

So I had to wait for it because back in the day we didn't get copies like we do on like two minutes or like a suicide squad came out this in the last week. And there's a copy to watch now like a 4k copy out there which is crazy but we had a way to come to blockbuster. Then there was movie rentals then if you want to do it we had six months after that to actually buy this new thing. So what was your first memories on being on the screen.

So mine's really different to yours. I cannot remember seeing it in a trailer. And I we got this from the man in the van. I'm looking down the street and making my friends I've been in horror since I can remember.

So to get a new horror film was nothing new for us. I remember going to my friends house with all my girlfriends were there. All of us. And we sat and it was close to Christmas.

It was close to Christmas. We sat and watched it. We were the kids who wanted the American lifestyle. We wanted the you know the experience.

So this was right up our street. It was the whole American teen experience which we saw the craven for. I know you did that. And yes we watched it.

Literally not two seconds away from where I'm sitting right now. Me and my friends who lived over the road when it was finished we walked home. We were going to have tea and then we were going to meet up later on as you do. Anyways I get warm.

I have meat. He's not in the mead up with the girls later. And Catherine who lived over the road called us crying our eyes out. And I was like what's the matter?

And she was like I'm just getting a Ford. Call us my favourite scary movie. How does this person know that I've seen it? And I'm like oh that's a bit strange.

And I said Catherine give us two minutes. I'll call you back. And brings me friends up who are still at my other friends house where we just watch the film. I was like what are you doing?

And I'm like yeah if she brings again tell them that you've had a phone call and say your number two because we told Catherine she's number one. Oh God. And she really put the frightness up and I was like how global can you actually be? We've just sat and watched the film.

Like a slasher. Why would you? It was so ridiculous but yes I've all worked with her. Her mom comes to see my mom and they're going to ring the police and have to see the joke.

But that was the first time I ever watched a screen. So we were literally went ourselves laughing. Especially when it happened in the joke. We were going ourselves laughing because we really did like we thought I wore lines for horror movies.

That's what we were we just loved the experience of it. And since then I'm not saying that cemented my love and horror because it was already there. It just elevated. And it's still to this day.

One of my favourites. It still holds up. Yeah. That's what I was going to say.

I watched it at the other night. I'm coming in for like finishing work and putting the horror film on. Normally I'm sitting there on the phone just like trying to spark my noise. But the screen still cap the face.

It still keeps us in the day. And you still want to be able to survive that dying stuff. So you think I'm the cast with the first one was perfectly cast. Everything was really done.

And it's still like you do pickle after you watch as well. Like little sound bites and little like the music we use as well. I only noticed a few years ago and it was only because Nick pointed it out. That's when the like the bedroom scene with Billy and Cindy, many times through a window and the color on the bed and trying to push his look.

In the sound effect in the music behind it's Don Fela Reba. Yes. I do. I do know that.

Yes. I do know that I watch a lot of videos on screen because there's a massive fan base out there. Like it's huge. And somebody actually did.

Oh my God. What are you doing? How's that sweet girl? If you're not watching YouTube, then Paul has just brought his new kitten on the screen.

This is Diana. Yeah. It's just a time. It's just a time.

It's at the moment. So it's a training or one. Yeah. So I've watched all these videos and there's one where it shows you who killed who.

But there's one bit that the can't explain. And it's when the shopping for food for the party. The person there because the person in the shop is then not the second leader. And then the second because the timing is meant to be the same time when Dewey and the officer outside.

We're in past and there's no explanation as to who's who there. But that would have happened that. Pinpointage. Who did which one?

All right. Never looked into that. But as an iconic look as well, the screen mask. Sorry, the ghost face.

Was absolutely. It is scary, but it's also like the editing. I know that Lamptown did a little bit and makes scary movie and stuff like that. But I wasn't too keen on the screen TV show changes and stuff.

No. No, no, no, no, no. No, that's bad. Let's give it a little in statistics.

So screen came out in 1996. It scored 79% on Runch Marros, which are things of really good score for a slash a horror. Yeah. I think that's pretty reasonable and directed by the iconic West Grew and and screenplay done by Kevin Williamson.

So I'm in Nef Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arkhead, Sciech, all the rich Matthew LeLard, Henry Winkler. Yes. And Rose McGowan, Jimmy Kennedy, and did anyone else out? I don't think so.

Not very much. Very much. It was inspired by the kind of... I couldn't say it earlier.

The game failed Florida murders that happened in 1990 by Danny Harold Rowland, who then became Norma's again Phil River. And from what I read, he taught people a lot of people who had... Yeah, she was fighting stuff. You're just swishing around all over the place.

Sorry. It's okay. It's okay. No, you got to bless her.

But yeah, he was known as a game's Phil River. And from what I read, and it was only briefly what I read, it's the terrorized people with phone calls. Mm-hmm. And then...

Oh, right. I've actually heard that. I knew it was based on not true, but kind of factual information. Yeah.

Inspired by the games Phil River. Mm-hmm. Interesting. But no, as a teenager, when this first came out, it was the film just to be same with your friends and stuff as well.

I remember as well, even the day... I was like, I was like, I was like, TV, it wasn't even DVD, it was VHS. VHS? Yeah, when it first came out, the cover was quite iconic because it was white.

I had to say, Drew Barry Moore's face and big eyes on, and it just had the word scream across. So that's what I couldn't get when I first saw the film. I was killed off. K.S.E.

Drew Barry was carried right at the start. I was like, right, you've got to zoom because I thought it was a Drew Barry Moore film. And she didn't even last the first head minutes, which was really done. And things I liked it about as well.

And then there were talks about this as well. She didn't go upstairs, she didn't hide, she tried to get out the door as what normal people would do. And she was so close to freedom. But...

What was she though? What was she? I watched... I have watched that scene again, and she has, all the time in the world, to run to her parents, and she doesn't, and it's infuriating.

But answer me this, because I did watch the opening scene again last night. Just the opening. And how in the hell did they kill her boyfriend? Well, the lights were off.

Nobody's in front of him. No one's in front of him. No one's behind him. All of a sudden, he's good to start right in front of him.

There's no... Just don't get it. There's a couple of bits of this film that do knock me a little bit. Oh, yeah.

I mean, my biggest graders went sitting here to get attacked in the next day. So the fuck goes to school after doing that. Who does that? And then Billy was a skilled after being arrested when the C.M.

closes. He was in the police cell the night before. With his left fingers as well. Like, do you not get a watch?

Like, do you not go home and get a watch? Do you not take the D off? Why do you go into school when you've just been branded in your words, Billy? There's the kind of man.

Like, come on. The exorcist line rips a hole through my e-drone. I say you're drunk, because I can't hear out in one of my ears. So it's only one when he says exorcist was on, and I thought of you.

I would have dropped kicked him back out of that window, obviously, in that line. Another line of dialogue that really is as made off. And I think I've mentioned it on this podcast before is the line. Nobody knew what Hannibal has been doing.

Nobody knew what Hannibal did, what he did. That really fucks me off, because we do know why he did what he did. That line, it takes out imperfection. Everything has to be perfect.

It takes about the imperfections of the world. We know why he did it for. I really hate that line. It really grinds my gears.

But that's just me. It's just because I'm a huge Thomas Harris fan. But yeah, they're like a tiniest little guy for the rest of it. It's just absolutely phenomenal.

Matthew Millard is the star of this film. I still get freaked out when he gets so excited at the end, when he's showing it to scream, he decides to slather all over this. You know they've just been showered in that scene. The last scene with Matthew Millard basically just let him go.

The majority of it is improvised because he can't really script him. You can give him pointers, but he's best off reacting to the situation. And he does it perfectly. He is the standout for me.

Nick Ample, who's fans out sometimes, she really does. I thought Rose McDown would be his phenomenal. No, I mean, only Apofur… I feel like I'm sure she can pull it off. She just has to be great.

The thing I got from the whole watching the whole four, the mini, the started movies. That's why it's like bringing me head. The Scrain movies that's ... And Nate Campbell really doesn't.

She's just one tone. And I know it's all about her. I was always wanting to change when the other characters got Coney Cox, really. And she was sawing it in his Guild, doing was lovable.

He was such a surprise because like Courtney's character as Gail was such a surprise because we born in Europe as Monica and we we knew a very well as Monica at that time. I knew from him I saw that that was different. And it's venture. But you know what I mean predominantly the time on Telly she was Monica Gather as a bit as a bit of an asshole.

Yes, it's something completely different to the Monica. It was it was so great to see. And as the films got on a lot of the characters went down and called he heard the same thing I noticed even in screen four the writing was a bismarly. Like some of the things that was said like lines wise we were watching last night going really it's just cringe worthy.

But even like I said she was the standout in all of that. But when you look at the cast throughout the screen films as well I know we mentioned the ones from the first one but if you think about the others as well. Like I said I'm Michelle Gell like Buffy was in screen two. It doesn't last long but she is like Parker Posey in screen to three.

She was really good in that. You got Janna Pinkett Smith in the second one. Oh my god you've got Jenny McCarthy. Jenny McCarthy.

Oh my god Emma Roberts in the fourth one. That's not the reason I like the fourth one because I love Emma Roberts. She is brilliant for the horror genre. She plays the bitch so well.

And I'm Jack. Don't mind the fourth one. I like it when it first came out but when you watch it back to back with the others it is the weakest one. I thought screen three was always the poorest one but this one.

I generally don't mind the third one. There is some question. A lot of it is question of all the horror killer of that one is so questionable but they really were running out of ideas. I think they were just trying to hold on to the idea of like going back.

I grew a more Prescott reputation was tarnished by the end. The poor woman. She was the one who was sleeping around with basically everyone and then getting angry at the movie. It was a bit over the top of my leg and we forgot another actor and leave Shilid.

It's Cotton Weary. I was devastated when he got killed. I thought I really wanted to see more of them because I generally like live as an actor. So I was like oh my god that's a bit shit.

Going back to the original cast. Ski, Fullrich. Wow. It was the only reason he got cast is because he looked like Johnny Depp.

Have you ever looked up some of the names of the people? She's still diving around your feet. Don't worry. Some of the names of the people who auditioned for that whole.

I'm very friends junior. And the reason why he was quite, oh god who else was it? There was some really noticeable names. Now it's just got a I thought I memorized them all and I haven't.

He was the only one I could memorize was Freddie Prince Jr. I've ever lived in. Well it makes sense because now you know where he got his part from. I know what he did last summer.

So I really don't mind that film. It's not one of my favourites but I generally don't mind it. But he is so, he's as flat as a part in that film. But he's too much of a nice guy though.

That's the thing. He's always got to be like the sweet guy and stuff. That's why he was always going to team ROMs or team comedies and stuff because he's got the baby face. And that's why he was so as Fred and Scooby do as well.

I didn't like him. She's all that. So we did it pretty well on that one. I'm just trying to find out how to get early.

There was like there was some really big names. But yes, Ski Jorich was cast as Billy Loomis partly because he was a little Johnny Depp. That was a given. Oh where is this?

They always wanted Drew Barrymore. Drew Barrymore and Rose McGowan. They were definite. Where is it?

Oh, Wacking Phoenix actually turned down the role for Billy Loomis. So he was offered it and turned it down. Freddie Prince auditioned for Stu. It was like a big massive list of people.

Melissa John Hart, Brittany Murphy, Alicia Witte, Melene Lysky, Melinda Clark, all audition for Sydney Prescott, Bec Rimea and Jason Lee audition for the role of Randy. I could not pick the Jason Lee playing Randy. No, it would just be Brody from Tomorrow. But Jamie Kennedy was brilliant.

That scene with Jamie Kennedy shouting at Jamie Lee Curtis to do exactly what you want Jamie Kennedy to do is to turn around and he doesn't. His genius as some matter is unreal. That's one thing I love about stream as well is because not many horror films kind of reference themselves and mentioned other horror films. I'm like this was like a movie far non-movie buff stream type thing.

This film is literally it was created around the world of horror. So every reference of a horror film was going to be mentioned. That was what Kevin wanted. Yeah.

So even when I was asking the questions, who was Killen Friday the 13th originally? And then the killer sounded sore please when she said Jason as well. It's like you're wrong. It's Mrs.

Varroj-Vohi. So it was always a good little twist there. But what I was going to do now, just to make sure I don't know if you want to do it, will watch the trailer and see how much it's changed because I say modern trailers now are very flashy and short and a lot of the film. And there's a lot of there's a lot of jim jim jim jim and then movement movement.

It's not like that. It's not like that back then. I guess I'm hoping I think it is I have the voice over guy who has the best voice in the business. I don't hear too much from him these days.

But I did. Oh well that's probably why that's not the one. I watched a YouTube channel called Hollywood Graveyard and he was on there and he was on there. He pressed in voice 7 piece.

Right. So we can't go through a podcast at all without some mention who died. So that's always going to keep the record. I can't go through a day without doing it to be honest at all.

So I am. Right. Let me just skip this family plan channel. Right.

You ready? Oops. So three, two, one, go. That's a long long way of audience approval.

Still going. Oh the proper cheesy music in the background isn't it? Yep. Yeah.

Fips the switch there. Right. Phone would have been put down 911 would have been round. There's a voice.

I'll use Tatum's picture. I'll be right back. Wow. I would not watch that.

That was pretty intense. Not mine. I really enjoyed that. I got a fun fact actually about the scene where she's at the door and Dewey comes out after he's just being shot off the side of one of them and her voice says no, her lips say no.

What she and then what actually comes out of her mouth is Dewey. So they didn't like her nor but they couldn't be asked to reshoot it. So they got her to voice do it. Right.

So Dewey is that what you watch I've seen again. You will see Nick have a go no and Dewey coming out of her mouth. All right. In fact.

In fact. Yeah. It was very made for two teeny movie ish that? Very much so.

But how clever was it that they kept it through Barrymore throughout the trailer? Very much so. She didn't leave the trailer. Yeah.

Because before this I don't think they've tumbled or done anything as big. I don't think the craft had been out and anything like that. Always they speak after the craft. Hang on.

I've got my list from the horror films. I'm sure I had a date on there. Oh my god. How many have we done?

I have a big list. And horror films are about 96. Yeah. So we're about the same time.

Same year. Same time. So yeah. I thought that was 25.

Yes. So I can see when you look at the cast what they went on and done now since the left. Like screen probably did open the door for a lot of these actors or actresses which is only a good thing and probably did use Drew Barrymore as the big. Because when you think about she was the big actress at the time I know Courtney Cox as well.

Yeah. But she drew Barrymore was literally crawling our way back through Hollywood because she went through that very short period of dysfunctional time. But she was really clawing our way back. New was not a was she might have been a householdy in for Americans because a party of five with us.

Not really. Yeah. And David Arquette never heard of him before on screen films. So I don't know.

Wouldn't have a clue. Yeah. So you try to do a few more different films and stuff but didn't really do too many things. Exactly.

I know he did it like a three. He's done a rest. I love it. Like a three.

I think that is one of the most up to date of the horror movies that has been released. I think it's absolutely fantastic. And do not diss the work of that man in Ready to Rumble because that is an absolute classic. I love that film.

But David, I knew he was part of the Arquette dynasty because he is part of the Reib Enloh Diner. And he is part of the Coos. It's so cute. And we're talking about horror Diner.

And we're going to all cute. The middle name is Ghostface Killer. So. Excellent.

So you're a good addition to this podcast. I knew he's sister because she's in full fiction. Yeah. And Trisha Arquette wasn't it.

No. Roxanne. Roxanne Arquette. Yeah.

We all put Trisha from True Romance. But yeah. Roxanne. So I didn't know who David was until Scream.

Cotton Cocks is obviously one of you got that. Scrooge Ulrich. Dina Clue. Hey, Diner.

Diner is the true star of the podcast this week. Yes. Sorry to get distracted there. Yes.

That's fine. It's one of them things. I would always go back to Scream. I would never like to say I could stay away for too long.

It's always one of the films I always watched during the Halloween period as well. I mean, you are quite the same when it comes to Halloween. We do go back and we may nick try and watch her film each day of the month. So it's not going to be Scream, Oct.

Or that. And Scream will be part of that as well. As with Halloween, Jaws, and see like all the B movies like the really bad smartphones as well. But I think it's something so endearing about them.

I really love them. I think the most best Monday I want was that Meg. Yeah. I thought that was really interesting.

Absolutely brilliant. The Meg. But if you think about all the films that came after this, I know we've touched on a few of them. Like after Scream had kind of brought back, like the horror genre, like I know we did last one.

The film series. The horror genre. The horror genre. Yeah.

It's not bad. It's not great. It's not bad. One of my favorites, Urban Legends, came up after this as well.

All of that. Don't forget it doesn't get enough credit. Very clever films that came out. Like say different twists, but it kind of gave them a different energy.

Because it's rather than having that steel plodden through and dismayed environment. Like having a killer that ran. I know it doesn't sound much, but a killer that actually chased you down. Rather than just slowly walking after you have an exe sound effect.

Shh, shh, shh, shh, shh. Kind of the thing. And the running theme, further thing I know I mentioned, like say the Grim Reaper. Don't feel the regal with the feature.

But the song, the Nick Kiaf song, and the one I mentioned. I have held every type of version of this film. I've had a dodgy copy. I've had the VHS copy.

I have had the DVDs. I have then now got the blue rears. And I still have the DVDs. In the copy, but we blew rears the screen base.

And you will never believe how much I've had for all four films on Blu-ray with a specialized steel screen mask, 6 pound on eBay. For a brand new brand. I know I'm, I know all the screen ones coming out for, I think it's the 25 year anniversary, which is a scary. Oh my god.

Oh my god. It's coming out in October, the steel book, 4kia. So I think that's going to be my next one. I'm not going to pay a exit preorder.

I think I might have to get it because it is, it's just, you have to, I have to, I've had every version of it. Why would I not go and get to the 4kia? Well, now I have a 4k Italian PlayStation 5. There's no excuse.

Sorry. No excuse. And what was I going to say? West Craven.

Very much, yes. How about a 4kia for a second? And I am not a Freddy fan. Right.

I'm sorry to put that out there. And I don't feel bad about it. I'm just not a Freddy fan. Was it the comedy aspect or was it the fact that, like, like, he didn't really like kids?

He didn't scare me. He didn't scare me. Like Michael scared me because there's an explanation for Freddy's, for Freddy's dealings and the way that he murdered people. There was no explanation when it came to Michael at all, nor did that is the most terrifying thing.

And this is what screen changes within the genre is that they, they give you that explanation. This is exactly why I did it all. And even if you don't agree with it, and you might think it's stupid, but they still give you the explanation. But Freddy, but Freddy does not scare me.

If you go and watch Nightmarron on the street, it is, it's funny. It's comedy. It's not horror. It's, it's absolutely the end scene where that mother goes through the letter box.

It's the funniest shit I have ever seen. I absolutely wet my pants off and I had a woman in Ansela for a few years ago. And but he doesn't scare us all about West Craven's name is attached to this. Yeah.

Just like it probably, like I probably should. No, certainly. I know one of my favorite, Freddy films is always, it's always Nightmarron Street, Three to Dream Warriors. I always thought that was more interesting to hear him.

It was a bit out there. I would like to see the kids in the school and just kind of learn how to control the dreams. That was always quite entertaining. I think like, well, where's Craven, as I just said, he was a pioneer and certain things.

I know one of the first, I think was his first one, the last house on the left. It's a very uncomfortable watch. We have that on our October list now, because I've been watching Eli Roth's history of horror that didn't realize it was a second series out. So he's doing all about, well, one of them was houses, monsters, witches.

So it's breaking down the genre even further than what he did with the book theories. And he mentions the last house on the left. And when we listen to the synopsis of that, I was like, that's I could watch that. So that's my list.

I say I need you're in the house for a month. It's not really my type of horror. I said I need you're in the house. I said I don't need you to watch it with us.

Just need you in the house. No, it isn't uncomfortable one. It's not an enjoyable thought about. I mean, I don't want people to make me fans of it.

It's not one I would be in a hurry to read because it's just because of the subject matter. And I say the whole, I say the internet that comes with it as well. But it's a very, I wouldn't say it's not very well acted or very well portrayed. It's I'm trying to be as polite as I can with it really, but it's not a film I think.

But again, going back to the horror films, you hit on a very good point that I say, I agree to this here. It's the scariest horror films that don't give reasons why things happen. When they leave it up to you to think about, say the Halloween and stuff. And can you never really know why Jason can't die?

You know, it's actually interesting. But it's not even where they bring that thought back to it. Well, with screens, it turns it on your head. And I love that aspect.

And like, say something, even the reasons why they do kill it. So it's like, it's like, it's like dying on the phone and Sydney's talking to him and saying, why are you a bit of a reason to get peer pressure? I'm very sensitive. Yeah.

Yeah. I mean, with Jason, you have an explanation as to why his mum did it. Yeah. You do not have an explanation as to why he's gone back.

And why, what's his urge? Is he just can't they carry on his mother's legacy or what? But I don't know. I am with Scream really give you a pull on Blorne.

This is my motive for why I don't know if all. And it was something we've not seen in horror. I know now it's it's the norm. Yeah.

It's kind of like the Scooby-Doo moment when the day the mask off and go, I did it because of this and the kids caught me because of that. But that's what brought it back to again. Like, say when the one mask off the killer, it was kind of like a Scooby-Doo moment, which was quite entertaining. Yeah.

But I was. And to also court cycle, when it comes to the reveal, given that cycle was probably one of the first, if not the first slash, a villain that killed it, that has the same kind of concept as Scream in the way that it killed obviously in Star within the first few minutes. They did the same in cycle, they jut it late for the big name, and they killed her off in 20 minutes. That was for the time that was huge in Scream had the same effect with Drew Barrymore.

Certainly. And it didn't over do the kills as well and all. I can say when I can say it's on the screen for like torture porn, and it comes with like films that later on where it comes to go. Where this was just simply done.

Like I said, blow it in the right places. Like a knife as simple as like say it is terrifying. Someone run round without really, I know he had a motive, but just without a motive that he could work out. The randomness made it quite scary.

And I just said it was a classic who had done it at first because it did flip through. You thought it was doing your thought, it was heavy. Wouldn't you effort for a mere few moments? The most inappropriate principle ever.

Like how he failed, he was eight hours. So if he touched my chin like he did the sentence, I would swipe his hand away. I don't care if he was a fonz. He was two and a previous.

I like the fam. You can put me in a test. That's why. But you can't deny the fonz.

What I liked about this as well, because from the start, from the first moment in your memory, you thought it was creepy. You thought it's too obvious for him to be the killer. And the player on that, you think God's going to be too obvious. It can't be.

So it kind of like misdirection as well. I want to turn it out to be Billy. It was quite fun with the two killers you didn't expect. And it became a bit of a norm that all type of horror films and stuff had to have a twist in those elements.

But I think a lot of horrors did it, but not as many done it as well as the first screen. Do you know that he was absolutely on the phones of his past. Kevin Williams and money wrote this script. It went down to the production companies on a Friday.

So everyone got a copy of it, all the big studios got a copy of it. By Monday, there was a bit of war on it. It is the most fidded movie that's ever been put out there, because everybody wanted it. They knew what this meant, especially because the horror genre was on its past.

It needed a rebound. And just to think that Scream was the answer. It might be popular now, given the movies that we have now. But back then, we didn't have a lot.

It was either Universal Monsters or Hammer Horror or Yosemite Slashes or the Sotanic films. They are some of the best horror films out there. It was not all. It had the traveling a lot of gore was coming into and around about the 80s as well.

And that's when it was getting too much. Yeah. I think that's when the video and now season stuff came out. Like I said, all the different things that's talking about.

But as you said with this, it brought a new audience to it as well. I mean, teenagers want to go to cinema again. Like I said with you and your friends wanted to have a part. Same always where you watched these five films.

Yeah. And we did. Because it was fun to be scared again. And it didn't take the piss out of us.

I know I said when the maker jokes throughout the films had the actors in the 30s playing teenagers, which was always quite amusing. But again, it was done in a weird dance. Scream, I wouldn't say it's a scary film. It's not a film that you would jump off.

It costs itself as a horror comedy. That's what it fits itself into is horror comedy. And I totally get it. And I love films that will use references.

I know we touched on this earlier, but I love how many references are in here. Because I feel like they've formed my language. Because it's like headers. I love headers because of how they talk is how I would love to be able to talk.

The list of that they come out with is absolutely brilliant. It's so quick with it. I just wish I was that fast. But with Scream, that's my language.

Yeah. I would movie reference you all day. So again, that's the same discussions that we have now. Even thanks in the Facebook group.

What's your favorite scary film? What's your favorite, like even Scream 2? What's your favorite sequel? Which sequel was better than the original?

Well, thanks in not many clicks here. Can't say that. You can relate so hard to elements and other things. I wanted to be Randy and you know he was the way he came.

But he loved films. So I wanted to be Randy. And he knew he was films. That was it.

He knew what he was talking about when he could back it up. And he was a smart little cookie. And he didn't have to deserve to die in the second one. No, I think they realized, I think they realized they made the mistake when they've done the whole video tape bullshit and screamed three.

That was just too weird. And it didn't really quite make sense. Which again, in the horror film where there's a lot of different scenes that I was trying to take on a fact one person, Sydney Prescott, for just being herself. Really good.

They're really good. They're really good at sitting on a pedestal line, didn't they? Given that you've got four movies in and they're still trying to kill her. There's got to be some god-compex going on in her head like how high and mighty she actually is.

Do you know what would have been more interesting? The killer off in the new one. So he's got the new duo Barry Moore role, hyping the first couple minutes. I've said that.

So I want to talk about Exir leading up to the next one. I think it's January the next screen five is going to go out. And it's already been announced that new cast is going to be Exir, Courtney, obviously with Arquette and Exir, Sydney Prescott, Nate Campbell is returning. So in my eyes, two things have to happen.

Two things could happen that would make this film work. And Nate and Watchable, one, Sydney dies in the first five minutes. Two, Sydney's the killer. Because there's got to be a lot of messed up thoughts going on up in there.

I mean, she's heard what, one, two, three, four, ex-beat. I didn't have to count that. I don't know how to count that. And she's had four experiences of someone trying to kill her.

But what do you know, the time between the burden and the fourth, and that's a huge gap when nobody's trying to kill her. And then she was back to West Prep. And I wouldn't have gone back. I would not have gone back.

So yeah, that's the thing. But that's the thing. It doesn't make sense to me that doing screen five is about Sydney again. And all the screen is about, to me, I shouldn't be the Sydney Prescott story.

Like Halloween wasn't the Laurie Sword story. No. It should be the West Raw about the town and how the towns reacted and the towns changed. That to me is a more interesting deal.

And saying how would you grow up in a town where there's been these mass murders that's happened every so often? Yeah, that's true. I get that. I just, I don't care at this point.

Give me all this. Give me all those equals. I can't believe it's 2021. I'll be 2022.

And we're getting into the screen for them. Like I generally thought that by fall it'd be over and done with. Of two questions. Yeah, it should have been done after three to be honest.

Well, if we're going to be really fair, we probably should have been done after two because that was a bit too far. I mean, what was that going to say? Something's just coming to me head. Oh, that was it.

In the first one to have Linda Blair. That was it. Linda Blair is in the first one with the Chris and Terry rings as well. Yes.
