Hey everyone and welcome to another episode of the Nerdy of North Podcasts. Nerdy podcast hosted by two northern nerds. I'm one of your host Sam. And I'm the other host Paul.
And today we're doing something new, no top five. No, it's going to get interesting. Yes, so Sam's been coming up with this idea and just being talking about with us for a few weeks now. It sounds interesting.
It just gives us a little bit of a break from the top fives, just to give us something extra. Well, I'll let you introduce it because it's like your brainchild. So, thank you. So, we're going to start doing instead of top fives for a bit.
I'm going to get wrong, then I'm going to stop. If it comes to us, we're going to do them. But we're going to do Ner talks. And the idea has been for a bit.
And last week, I kind of cemented it when we started out with little Star Wars, chatting, I was like, yes, this is what I was looking for for a whole episode. So, we're going to just go with Star Wars. Our Ner talk is all about Star Wars. It's going to force me with us.
It does. But before we do that, I do want to say I have a little bit of a disclaimer. So, before we get into this week's episode, I do want to make a clear opinion that you're about here, our opinions and our opinions alone. And if you disagree with them, have a chat with us.
Go please don't jump in the comments or on Facebook, your tellers, our opinions are wrong. We can agree with disagreeing, so I'm going to keep it fun, keep it kind, and let's keep talks, superheave your out of the fandoms. So, that being said, do we get into this week's Ner talk? Oh, you got to say that.
So, yeah, with a lot of fandoms, there's a lot of interesting takes. And everyone's got an opinion. So, I say with you, as well, everyone likes to share them. So, this is a subject that's very close to me and close to Sam as well.
I've been brought, I'll say brought to post dragged up on Star Wars. And this is my childhood. I'd say, even me and my friends, close friends, do from time to time, call at Star Wars, and have a full day of watching, not all the Star Wars films, more than the original trilogy. Can't really bring the prequels into them yet.
Hopefully, one day, but still haven't forgiven them yet, but that'll probably be some of the things we'll talk about during this podcast. So, yes, and we've actually thought we'd start off as well by ranking all 11 films from our favorites to our worst. So, what we're going to do is, yeah, so what we're going to start off, we'll go from each of them from our topics to our bottom. And, like I said, see how the difference, say if there are the same.
So... My husband's not talking to me, I'm lying, so... Well, that's always a thing. It's always down in opinions.
No one's wrong, no one's right, except if you picked the fundamentals of your first pick, then you are wrong. Simple. No, definitely, definitely did not. But that's all the reason I put the disclaimer in, is because I might have said a few people.
This is generally my top brand name. So, do you just try to run through mine? Go from each together. So, we'll see you by the match up.
So, my first pick is the API Strike Track. This is my answer to what I'm saying is more, because my first pick is Rogue One. Right, no, not bad pick. Like, say of course.
My Strike Track always stood out to me as, like, the better of the films, and more interesting things did happen there. Funny enough, you say that, go. Sorry, what do you want to say? You disagree?
No, definitely not. Definitely not. Don't disagree. It's just with Rogue One, I am more connected to it.
I'm more connected to the characters. I have that. But all that we know is that they don't survive. And if you know what they were doing in the first place, it's the beginning of the building in New England.
I just thought the characters were very interesting, very well written, and that's why it's been a long pick. Oh, so my number two pick is Rogue One. I have a two pick is Empire Strikes Back. So you're pretty close.
So we're both on the same way as I think. Like I just said, I just said that we were Rogue One. It was, if you take out the Star Wars universe, it is a great sci-fi adventure action flick with interesting characters, ones you care about. So yeah, so I'm on board with that.
Yep. Empire Strike Back is everything you said. It's the conversion of Star Wars. It goes back.
And this is the reason why Ant isn't talking to us well, because I didn't put it as me number one pick. And I wonder because, then I'd be lying to myself, because Rogue One is just very special. And what's your number three? A new book.
Wow, I'm interested in the Jedi. All right, so you like the Cully Teddy lesson? I do. I actually, up until a few years ago, always said the Return of the Jedi was my favourite, because I've been loved the last scene with all the Ewoks.
And these guys, I love it. I absolutely love that film. But when I watched them, when I watched them again, a few years ago, I generally watched them, I just read back in, I watched it in detail, and I get it. What's your number four?
Return of the Jedi. Yeah. I had to force awakens. Now, I know what I said last week.
I said, it was an Ewoks album copy of A New Hawk, but I didn't mean I didn't like it. And there is some weak points in it, and I'm sure I'm going to get into it, but there are some really strong points in it, and it does have the Star Wars DNA running through it. I really like this one. I'm going to hear my next one, but I'll put it next one.
So my next one is the Force awakens. So after the Jedi. I'm going to tackle the chords. Wow.
I love the tag of the coins. I absolutely adore it. I cry when, is it this, for the Execute, or the 66 in this one, or is it revenge and save? I can't remember.
That's revenge and save. That's when it kills the youngins. The youngins. The youngins.
It goes a missing cringe. Or it was because you got to see a real life version, even though you see two seconds of Kip the Store, and I grew up Kip the Store, and all of these names, Plo Koon. What's the clone was? They are, they're in it more, but I just see a live action version of entry, even just for a few seconds.
All right. So it was your number five pick, wasn't it? Five, yeah. So mine's a force away.
And same with you. I enjoyed this. It got excited for Star Wars again, which was quite an experience and put in the mid-night show of this. The next one after that is going to surprise you quite a lot.
Because my next pick is the Phantom Menace. Wow. Nice. So my new hope is a lot higher.
I'm not going to introduce this to Star Wars. I can say that was my idea where you go, but the Phantom Menace does get a little hit for very good reasons, but also this element in it that I do enjoy, like the Pod Race, and makes it a fight at the end with Darth Maul. It's still a... Fight the end.
May and watch that on YouTube. Just that alone. There's a technique in it, and just put it on its own video, and it is one of the best fight scenes in Star Wars. Like, fight me on it because it really is.
It is tremendous. The score that runs behind it is just, it makes you like do songs everywhere. It is fantastic. I actually, if I go down, I mean, this actually.
So what was your number six? Oh, no, it's not Phantom Menace. So what's tied on the Phantom Menace? Well, I don't know what's two, three, four, but no, a new hope was number six.
No, I'm not. Sorry. So my next one might be a bit controversial, but solo. I really like this one.
I really love this one. I really love this one. It's my next one. It's my next one.
I absolutely love solo. Why people said it was shite. I would never understand the guy who played him. It was fantastic.
Seeing Chewy, your new Chewy, was mint. Daenerys was awesome. It's Keira. Yeah.
I don't know more about Prince and Dawn. Yeah. And like I said, it was a Danny Glueb, not Danny. It was a Donald Glueb who played Landor.
Landor. We did it well. I thought I'd say I might be seeing him again soon in the Landor series. That would have been priced.
So, after number seven solo, the rise of the Skywobber. Number eight. That might solo. Yeah.
So I've got rise of the Skywobber for number eight. Even though I tried to, like, before it's false, it did try to fix a lot of the problems that came before it. But I think that was the Demen to the film, where it was trying to fix everything rather than actually be a cohesive Star Wars film, if that makes sense. I can't hear.
It was a, do you know what? I felt really bad for Ryan Johnson because it felt like JJ came in and just went, well, you know how he made him three lights everywhere in the last one? Guess what bitch, he's got to catch it in this one. How he was really hated for us in the last one.
Guess what? Gee in this one. Like, do you not need it? But like, JJ was just didn't like that.
Didn't like that. Didn't like it. He didn't even even record at all. My next choice is, is there, right as I walk out?
Cool. So my next one, after that, is Revenge of the Sith. Right. Would you know what?
I'm starting to say it back here because every time you pick one, there's my next one. What was my, no mine was, mine was right as Skywalker. It's just, I was like, I've totally drawn a line now because I've got to be currently with the JJ thing. What's your next one after that?
I got to Revenge of the Sith and mine was number nine and then number ten was the last Jedi. Right. So mine is Revenge of the Sith. Mine is the last Jedi.
Cool. So my last pick, the one I didn't like the most, I think I've only ever seen it twice because I think it's just a point of the column was a tack of the clones. I didn't enjoy it one bit. Do you know what?
I've completely messed my list up. It's okay. I generally have. I really have.
My last one was the last Jedi. The second I've last one was Revenge of the Sith and the one before that was a rise of Skywalker. I really have messed me list up. But I didn't do list rights, but that's fine.
I mean, I can't even do list rights because that was it. I forgot a film. I forgot about Phantom Menace. Yeah.
So I think I was number seven. I think for you. I did put that in because I just remembered that it existed. That's right.
Oh my God. What is wrong with me? So the run down my top 11. So Empire Rogue One, a new hope, Return of the Jedi's Force Awakens, Phantom Menace, Solo, Rise of the Skywalk, Revenge of the Sith, Last Jedi and Attack of the Corns.
So my worst, worst was a prequel. So yes. Well, my was Rogue One, Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Force Awakens, Attack of the Corns, the new hope, Phantom Menace, Solo, Rise of the Skywalker, Revenge of the Sith, Last Jedi. Well, from speaking to you last week, I would probably bet that the Last Jedi was either the last or one of the bottom ones from the conversation.
Definitely. I was watching videos today and just watching the Skywalk with Saga, just to remind me of a terrible memory. Just to remind me of everything, bits and pieces to make sure I've got two open points. And there is some rings from parts in the Last Jedi, but a lot of things are very questionable.
And especially with the Laura Derns character, she looked phenomenal. I thought she was going to be so much more than what she was. And the decision made and she has throughout that film is just, it drags it on when she just told Paul our original plan. It's one of the names that tried to make the role bigger than it potentially was.
And I think that was the problem with a lot of the newer ones. Trying to stray a little bit away but scared to go too far away. But again, forget the fundamentals of what Star Wars should be fun. We're talking about Wars that are in space.
That is so true. So here's a question for you. Can you remember how you got into Star Wars? Because it's such an old, like, for us franchise that it was probably born on.
Normally I've got quite a good memory of like when I watch films for the first time. Because I have like imprints of memories, but with Star Wars, I remember always being around any childhood. I think I remember getting the toys before actually getting the actual into the films. Because I've got one here.
Sorry, it's stretchy here. Do you remember this? It's an old fashioned run core. Oh yeah.
From the return of the Jedi. I've got it done next. Because I got all the figures. We got used to bring them in a little white box.
And I think a lot of the toy shops to sell them off cheap. It was like surprises. So you don't want the kind of boards that you could have got. Like an original.
So these were like off cuts. We got used to coming and bring them in. I remember having the Millennium Falcon originally. And I was losing the front bit because everything used to not quite fit perfectly.
Used to go in. You just have to force it in to keep it in. But that was probably my idea. We're into the Star Wars and seeing the film.
I remember just not seeing anything like it. And the characters as well. We saw relatable and fun. I know it sounds weird.
But everyone seemed to be having fun while on screen as well. And then as soon as you heard the brave and the same come down the steps. It was terrifying. I remember having nightmares about Darth Vader.
And then when I'm getting a little bit older as well. I could fight Darth Vader or be Vader. It depends on what I was being asked. I totally understand that.
I'm exactly like you. I can't remember the first time that I watched the films. But the toys. It was the toy pack.
So I went until I was about six years old. I was an only child. And I had an older cousin who I spent 90% of my day away. So whatever he was into.
I was into Star Wars. Megalie. He had Melanie and Falcon. He had all of this.
He had all sorts of things. We spent 90% of our day together. They became my toys. And I grew up with them and just constantly having them on us all the time.
And if I'm, if I'm, I do remember, I can't remember watching the film, but I do remember always watching the Ewok film when we ran down. Right. Yes. Was that so good?
No, no, no. I think it's on Disney Plus now. Yeah. It's on Disney Plus now.
I haven't quite brought myself to watch it because I think I'll get emotional over it because I do remember watching it with them constantly. My friend, I probably like, if he was alive to do it would be a massive nerd. Because he was into Star Wars. He was in wrestling.
He always, like, I had an interest. He then got an interest. Like he was interested in it. And he was, I just, if I was, if I had to put money on it, the first time I would have watched Star Wars would probably have been with him.
But I generally cannot remember. But then I kind of, when I grew up, I was supposed to kind of talk over my world. When I finally found a collection of my own, that wasn't his. That wasn't his.
And that just took over everything. So Star Wars became a back burner. And really then just sat on the shelf until when I remember. I just had my ears.
And I was listening to the radio in the doctor's reception and heard the Disney, at Vorsh, Lucas Films, for, for, was a four point something billion. Oh, it was stupid money, but like, say, yeah, they got everything, like, Indiana Jones and everything. And I remember listening to that and going, wow, that's something. That was fine.
That was funny. No, as well. That was only a few years ago compared to America. It was, it definitely, it wasn't, it wasn't that long ago.
But yeah, and I remember listening to that going, wow, that's something special. And then I went to revisit it again and just started getting me loving passion from, like, as an adult into it now. So I didn't, I did go and see the prequels with my friends. I think your wife might have came to one of them.
And Tom was definitely there. And we went to see Revenge of the Sith because he told one of my friends, I'll tell you who it was later, but he told one of my friends that if she didn't stop asking questions, he was going to physically remove her. She was being an absolute nightmare. She kept asking where Luke and Leah was, where Darth Vader was.
She was really starting to get on everyone's nerves. And I think Tom was the one who eventually snapped. And so I did go and see all the prequels. It was just because they were on, I really wasn't, I wasn't into it.
I didn't buy into it. It was, I had it yet. Yeah, no, but it wasn't until I found out that Disney were going to be doing it with Disney, with Gautner, Lucas franchise. I was like, oh god, that actually means that something's going to happen.
Like, something's going to really happen and it's going to be big. And I went back and watched the original trilogy and it just grew from there. And it's like, it's took over me like really. I'm one of these ones that was lucky when I was younger.
I saw the star was when they were, before they were tinged with as well. Because as we know through the years, George Lucas doesn't know like to let things lie. And he's played about with Star Wars so many times and changed elements or added stuff, which to me, like I said, as a purist, I always prefer the original, except I know the biggest argument with all fanboys now is who shot first. To me, it's always going to be Han.
Han did shoot first. If you're watching that original cut as well. That was all of his character as well. He was a lovable rogue.
He was a pirate. He was a pirate. That's not the start. And with all the characters in Star Wars as well, going from even in the later ones, the old go on the journey, exit and change and move on with the journey as well.
Like at the start of a new hall, Princess Leia starts as a damsel in distress. Then by the time we get into Empire in Jedi, she's no longer a damsel in distress. She's the badass princess that is locked after herself. She was probably one of the, I'm not saying she would, was the first, but one of the first female empowerment for women of nerds.
Because at our time, they didn't really have anything. I think from eventually Linda Carter is Wonder Woman. I wrote a full article. Yeah, very, very sexy way.
I wrote a full article just after Carrie Fisher died about not appreciating what I had in front of her as a child to actually look up to. Because I didn't see Leia as a strong female. Because at the time I was very much boy centric. So all of my heroes were men.
And I never looked at all of them. So women to be that hero figure. And she was there the whole time. And I never, I took it for granted.
And then she was gone. And I wrote a full article about how I'm sort of disappointed in myself that I never, never saw her for what she was as a young child. Because maybe, maybe with, you know, I had to send some stuff to you. But maybe with her guidance, I might have made some different choices.
Yeah. You can always look back at certain things and say this is turning points. So this could have changed and stuff. That's the status general.
You can get through that. But she was, like I said, even from my perspective, I could see what influences she was having on, like, especially nerds. And one of my good friends, Joe, she absolutely worships. And she's like a bigger starwalf than me.
She watches Star Wars religiously. And I say she always quotes Carrie Fisher as well. So it gives, like, we give people hope at the time as well. That's always the thing.
But that's something good to think that Star Wars did as well. Like some of the characters, everyone could relate to. Like I know as a weird kid, I was drawn to see 3P off for some reason. So I was, I was like, I used to get his, like, his point of view of how you start with the frisbee and not what I'm doing.
And I was like, the danger's on. But I like that. Even the robots had their own personalities and used to even, I get attached even to Artus Beeps and you knew when he was distressed. Or if he was happy.
Yeah, I am. I am a droid bitch. That's the only way to describe me. I am a droid bitch.
I am so drawn to droids. They remind me so much of just animals because they all have their own little individual personalities from Katie Wessaw. Who is my all-time favorite droid. And it's not because of Alan Todak, who does his voice.
He really is really. He really brings them to life. He's just a fantastic character. But in it's BB8, BB8 is like one of, if not one of my favorite droids.
I have not here in my husband's computer room, which is another nerd room. We have to, I have not here. But he still has, as I'm decorating this room soon, he has all of my droids and my big BB8s in there. And I love it so much.
I hate the remote. So I never use it and it never breaks. I've got the little one that I think was about came out and it matches up to you more on the phone. And you can basically roll it out.
So I think it's just there. I've not been able to get this body gone. Oh, there's Batman gone. Oh yeah.
I didn't want him. I wanted the one where he's head, because I've got the one where his head can come off. It's like a magnet. Because he's bigger.
Carolyn's got the really big one from Disney Store. But the only thing I put it up about him was that he only rolled one way. Oh, there he goes. That one I can get to mine to roll everywhere.
Which is when he went one way. But he was bigger. And I was like, oh, it's the roll of it. Actually, it's my cat's all around.
Absolutely. He's just drawing all my thing apart from C3. Even though he's on my keys. I have my key.
I have my key code has C3. Be on one side and R2D to one the other. And he really doesn't know the puns out in this. I saw him.
I saw him. I saw him. I think Daniel's in carol and went to Star Wars celebration. That was that was a source.
That was amazing. 2016. To Star Wars celebration Europe down in London. And it was just as Rogue One was coming out.
So the Friday night, they had Rogue One as a panel. But we were only there on the Saturday. And the Saturday it was Star Wars Rebels panel. And then a chat with Anthony Daniels and.
I was another one. I don't think we went to. But the Anthony Daniels one was hosted by War with War of Davis. It was just an ultimate sweetheart.
That man is just lovely. Anthony Daniels came across as a bit of a creep. Like, really creepy. Like it was some bit of being carol and really uncomfortable with.
He's just too over friendly. But the Rebels won. We only went because we went to go and get times and for us. We just went.
We hadn't watched Rebels. But the experience of being in there was unreal. So they announced then that General Thorne was coming to Rebels. And you had Sam Witchware on the stage.
It was the voice of them. Darth Maul in the animated series. You had Dave Volloni who was the creator behind Rebel and Clone Wars. And there was another voice character who I can't remember.
Oh, watching. This is this is programs that I'll be only in for kids. But there was thousands of thousands of battles. Stood up.
The room was black because it had on the, in the announcement, General Thorne's picture cable and thousands of adults on their feet would like to save us in the air screaming the players down. And then the camera was like, what the fuck is going on? I was like, Jesus Christ, because it was, honestly, it was electric. The atmosphere, when they did the announcement, it was electric.
It was one of the highlights of my weekend was being in that room with them. People finding out that General Thorne was coming to Rebels. It was unreal. Absolutely unreal.
It was so good. We can't. Mark Hammel was there. Carrie Bishop was there.
Carrie Bishop did the Carrie Bishop diaries on the Sunday. But we weren't there for that. Well, what we did do, and we will always say that we met, we got to meet Mark Hammel because we saw him in another room while we turned the corner and that's our introduction Mark Hammel. Right.
But so was celebration. You're even celebrating. You get a chance to do one absolutely fantastic weekend. Everyone was lovely.
We never had one bad experience. It was just great from start. The only downside is that you constantly on the go, you just nackers play absolutely by the end of it. But yeah, celebration was good.
Cool. I'm going to enjoy it. Sounds like a good time. But actually, I'm talking about the film side of things.
And all this being a lot of ups and downs through the years. A lot of the fans have vented and there has been a lot of things that may personally think it was out of missteps. And I know, like, so when George Lucas went back and retinket with the original trilogy before he brought out the prequel show, we say, like the things that added in, there was element stuff that you didn't need because I know originally there was a lot of practical effects, which I thought used love, but then the change doesn't brought a lot of CGI elements in, which in some cases, tidied the things up. But then when they tried to add things like the containers in, they handed it in, they didn't need it to be in, they added a state where I think it was a new hook where Han was talking with the other guy, and he kind of walked over him and all he was originally in is quite a stone block.
He makes job a react. He walks on job a steal and he makes job a go, oh, and react and that wasn't in the original cut. I generally thought a couple of years ago I bought the original cut on VHS because I haven't been here just yet and I'm more than happy to buy it. I see anything that I want.
And I was at a convention and this guy here was with me in the carolins, the sonar out there, and the guy who was next to his head, VHS, and I was like, do you know what, if that star was one of the I'm sure I saw original written on the side. And I was like, it's still there by the end of the day. I'm buying it in all the herders and he kept it. And so I bought it again in the day thinking I bought it original without it being comforted with did I shit?
I did not. I was devastated. I think the original is like, because I don't think I remember the video was because I know when the brought out them on DVD and Blu-Ray, there was actually a Blu-Ray release where it was the original cut and the owner said, I'm not too long ago. I remember watching it because when I came out in Blu-Ray again, the re-edited and added new things more sound effects this time because I can see I think in Return of the Jedi that had added in there when what was it?
Darth Vader and when Darth Vader turns back to the good side and throws the emper over the rails when the original cut, it was just basically looked at Luke, looked at the emper, looked at Luke, looked at him and then just the same golden water where the added in there where he goes no, no, no, no, when it's like with her because we watched it gone, that wasn't from the watching the original, so it's like little things that's been added in, which you might not have, if you haven't seen the original cut, you might not know it, but it's kind of stuff that the door needs. It's like what I used to love about the original three as well was how sci-fi looked, but everything looked like it being put together in a way, like the mine in front of him looked like a hunger rubbish, they'd put together to fly, the star destroyers looked functional and like pointy and jaggedy, nothing smooth, like even the death star, like say that was put together and like say to me it looked like Star but still like quite retro and not built, where things that confused me a lot about the prequels was all had these new star fighters or star, new things that looked so shiny, looked so smooth, so modern, it was like, this was before they got these, now the things that they used and looked more space age than they got in the future, that did confuse me a little bit towards the prequels. I totally get that, but when it comes to the prequels I always see it as a start and it is where the world was, it wasn't ravished so much by the number or anything like that, so the advancements might have been better than what they were later on, but I do get what you mean, the one thing that really bothers about the prequels is the CGI effects because when you watch it now in a 4K Italian it's sort of disturbing, they could totally take the out of it because watching Jar Jar walk with Qui-Gon is on set length because it doesn't look right, something about it just doesn't look right and you know why I love the Jar Jar. True, and I think that's the one thing Lucas was very clever about when he made the original films, to the veteran to some of the films later on, he realized the mark ability of what he had with Star Wars, because I know when he was originally a deal that when he produced the films he went, I went full, licensed over all merchandise, all boys and action figures, so when he was getting later on, not so much, well even Empire's rights back, some of the vehicles and some of the things he brought in, looked amazing, not very user friendly, but some of the ice states, like giant camels, you know that was just made for a toy, but it looked cool, but then it gets the return of the Jedi and then it brings in like say, Ewoks and speeders, speed bikes, which again are cool, but you know what they were there, not to tell a story point, but to sell action figures of toys.
He was definitely a stupid decision-making over toys, he knew, like look at Heman, look at the Heman franchise, that started off as a toy, and then went into a show and everything and the toy, the toy, the time was massive, and if you look at the Heman figures to the Star Wars ones, the mold of them is not very different. They're not very different, apart from obviously the muscle side of it, so he used it as a head and ball. They looked similar, but very different in size-wise, but look at it, because I think the Star Wars figures were like always much more exciting. They were about that, yeah, but I don't know what I mean when I'm saying this, but you know the toy side of it was a given, it was a money-making given because of the likes of Heman who was doing brilliantly in toy sales, he was going to make money back somehow, he generally believed that all of them did, that this was a B movie at best.
But then my argument for that is, not argument, sorry, my, what kind of like right, so he's a, he carries through with the other films, like the prequel series here, and he brought characters and elements into it, again, not to serve a story, but to sell toys, because I know you love them, and again, I've got major issues, but my point is, if you take charge of things out of that film, it makes absolutely zero difference to the film, he is in there just as the comedy character to sell toys, and he falls flat for me in that element, again, if you haven't done it a different way, potentially I've done it less in your face, certainly, and again, this is a conference on that, I didn't mind the Pod Race and the event, even though again, the Pod Race and the other one, that was one of the year's silent toys, and B, and they were completely in that, because, and he did, because I did it, so my nickname for a very long time was Qui-Gon, by my parents, it was an inside show, because Qui-Gon did, because I always had me here, I used to have really long, long brown hair, and I always had a title that the bath, I literally just pulled up and I have the front bit down, and I was doing it now, because I spent ages doing my hair, and there was a photograph of me in Florida, on a Pod Race and game, and I got caught by a Gon-Jin, but I still sometimes get caught up when I have my hair in that way, and so he did my video games out of it, I love Jar Jar, I love him now, I did not so much in the beginning, I can understand where the hatred comes from, I love the episode of Space, I guess in series two, where Tim's not over the fundamentals, but it was over a year ago and he's caught a job, but I think when I got all that revisited, and if I watch it for what it is, it's a kids' film, set in Star Wars, but I think with me going up with the original three, I hit it more when I first saw it, because it was so different to the Star Wars that I knew, and they've tried changing elements of it, or trying to change the history of Star Wars, by adding new things in, I know I've talked about it last week, but I fucking can't stand mini-chorns and the whole explanation of how that falls. I like to just being as this mystical thing where, like, you tapped into nature and stuff, not where it's in your blood and the whole demons. That's what I love about Robon when he meets God bless his name, he's not a Jedi, but he's tapped into the Force, it's almost like a spiritual thing. That's how he was?
Yes, I absolutely loved him, why can't I remember what his name is, but yeah, he was almost like a spiritual thing, because he wasn't a Jedi, but he was tapped into the Force, and that courage was brought in, I'm glad to be honest, it's not one character in that, I do not absolutely love him. That's why his role on works so well, because in theory that film shouldn't work, as we knew at the end of that film, and we knew what happened. But the broke it down, the made the story very simple, we made it like a lost daughter and a lost father, and again the broke that films in, the broke that character's so well, and you wanted each one of them to survive, and what at the end? And I'll see you other than when the three visited the kind of the tunnel scene on the Mandalorian season two with Luke taking the theatre space, but on Rogue One at that end when you see Vader coming and be fucking full Vader as well, that is amazing.
That's what we wanted for so many Star Wars films, we wanted to see why people fade Vader, because they're far enough, you see him battle Luke a little bit, but you never see the true why people are terrified of Darth Vader so much, and in that one moment you realise that no one wanted a mess, because he could just take out you so easily. Yeah, definitely, that was one of the- That's the reason that's the reason, and the watch before, is because of that end scene, because it is absolutely spectacular. You are the minute that Red Light comes on from his sever, you are in either your doing it externally or internally, you are screaming out loud, because it is so impactful, but you remember, I remember, since my mum was a Star Wars fan, not so much now, but she used to be, she would always have a time where she would do with Star Wars, but she would break it into every weekend or something, she would watch one, and I remember describing Rogue One to her, and I said, I'm gonna watch Rogue One, it's new Star Wars, and it's about getting the plans for the Death of the Dawn, she won't be able to rob her and die. Exactly.
When you were fishing new before we even started watching, I was like, yes, but you get to see, you get to meet those people who were so heroic to actually go ahead and do it, and you generally do care about them. And just for a throwaway align in Star Wars as well, because when you think about when the originally said it's like, when they did it all, it doesn't look so bad. Keep it, man, shut people die to get us this. That's pretty much the only thing that's got referenced about, and the image film off that line.
Off that one line, yes. And that to me just blows my mind and say when you go through all the Star Wars films, I know I put Empire Strike box for me, has everything. And all at the end, it is just a continuation, you don't really get a true ending because you kind of just end like that, but then you get a revolution and say, I know the big one, you could look Aion your father, probably won basically light years, kind of where that Darth Vader didn't die, he didn't die, he was just turned into the Force that was Vader. And even the start, the battle of the Hoth, sorry, battle of the Hoth, on the Ice Planet, I've not seen a better battle scene done in the Star Wars universe than that.
I know they're trying to recreate it with the Red and the Sun pits and the Soul of the Sun. I actually found that quite beautiful, that scene there, and it's probably just because of the coloration of the Red and the White and it was pretty beautiful, but I get with that battle of Hoth is just Hoth itself, like Wampersman or Wampersman. The Disney Store at the moment are obviously closing down in the UK and their branching out more in their online store and a lot of the merchandise from Batu, which is the Star Wars place in Disneyland, they bring it to the store and there is a Womba. Hey, that's Womba.
I sent the car in last night, I was like, I'm so tempted. Obviously, if my MRT goes the way it goes, I'm either getting a salacious chrome or I'm getting a Womba. I'm doing it. I'm a proper sucker for stuff like that, the scene made coming.

I say that just brings back good memories and that's when we get first introduced in Orlando and I say in Sky City and how we get to double cross and then the triple cross and put C3 to the part and show us all the other robots to try and put them back together.
Here we've got the most unsung hero of the Mulmay and Antwo talking about this, because it's a best thing I want to ask you actually, what would you like to have seen different in the Star Wars movies. The reason I asked this for is because me and I was talking about it earlier, we, in Falls of Aegans, when instead of Rey, fighting Kylo at the end, should have been Chewy. Because he killed Tamara. That would have been spectacular.
The Tamara, the Rey again, her force and enlightenment as quickly as she did was not great. A day one Jedi going against the Sith Lord who had so much training that she should never have been able to beat him and it was too quickly done if they had just pushed it a little bit and let Chewy take her fight. Possibly. I think what the tried hinting at, I don't think they ever got to is that Kylo never really put his, wouldn't ever fight everything into it because he had them failing for Rey.
So that's potentially what the were hinting at and what kind of got at the end but I don't think it was ever fully realised. I could say that trying, I would have changed. I would have had Han Dine in either Jedi or Empire, I would have had more impact. I'm glad he didn't mind.
I'm glad he didn't because I think I needed a bigger death though. I think that's the thing we didn't know about Vader. There was no sacrifice on there. It wasn't going to be impactful but I am glad that Harrison Falls took it out for Return of the Jedi because he's fantastic in that film.
For me, he's kind of like all of it. He has a little bit of intensity about him and it's like he's just like all of it. You saw him fall away and he was so relaxed. He was going to die.
He was so relaxed. It was a pleasure watching. But I think again the bigger one in another force away and trying to think of the name of it now. It wasn't the thing of the Jedi.
I'm trying to get me this. I'm sorry. The last Jedi where we lose Luke in the most anti climatic way. I would have liked to say them words as a Skywalker or a funny shield.
I'm glad we got the Mandalorian to bring back to know what kind of bad ass that actually Skywalker was. Again, little thing. Well, not little things. I would have left.
Like I said, Princess Leia die in space. That would use the Force powers to survive space and come back and go on. What was that scene? Where did you fly through space?
Did they not look at that in Gore? Hang on a minute. That looks ridiculous. Who did they think that was all here?
Again, I understand what you're saying. But surely it didn't really get his time to shine. You don't want to see him go full. What you want someone?
Let's start buttoning. And it would have made more sense for him. That was a time. They kind of just been taken away from him.
And that would have been the time for him to go full force. And we honestly think it was a rage. He would have felt that he would have annihilated Kail like at least marked him to where he was scared because he. I don't think the rare fight scared him as much as what it could have.
But it was too soon for Rhea to tap into the Force because she literally was a day old Jedi. Like she had no physical train whatsoever. I generally do believe that she got a lot when her and Kylo were when he was trying to get into a mind to find out where Luke was. I do generally believe that he unleashed a lot in her at that time.
So there was potential there. So a fight wouldn't have been. That's, you know, if a fight could have happened, but I don't think to the level of the fighting that they had at the end should she have ever been able to pick that lightsaber off? True.
But I think the thing that happens at the end where when she's down and all the Jedi's come back to and tell them with a wasted opportunity that was. I see I disagree because I think it was. It was beautiful. It was beautiful.
It was really beautiful. But there was a fan clip online where they all stand in behind her. Yeah, but you don't need to say that. In my way, the way I got it, the way it came across to me, it was down.
And then all the Jedi's were sitting with her with you and then she pops up because they have given that energy and that's where she could. That's where she can fight from. And again, I did get that. I did resonate with that.
And I know what I said. Would you have said that again? It would have been. I don't think I would have had more of an impact because I say it's sometimes with me.

Just tell me anything about it. No, I do get that. That scene is absolutely beautiful when you can hear them. And I heard a Salka's voice in there and I was like, oh, we didn't hear you though.
It was me a swindo, which I thought was very clever. But I would have just loved it. The fan edit that someone did was just, you don't see them while they're talking. But at the end when she rises up, all standing behind her.
And that was so impactful. But then just fade and then she starts fighting off the embera. Another thing I would have potentially changed was the whole embera. I would have loved that Snork was an actual bad guy and not the embera.
It did not use him to his full potential. I'm just a clone of the embera because I say they've been going through the clones rather than having survived because living on this far off world that no one knew about that build up this arsenal. Yeah, it's a massive, massive, massive, sick following where it just came out absolutely nowhere. But then it's a Kevin Smith argument all over again.
I went to build a deaf start on the blow it up. Was everyone there who worked for the Federation or was a subcontractors or how that's the thing to blow into some people. But how makes it because we know how even from the start of our games, like building these massive fleets and building them how many people it takes. How all of a sudden does just by force how I thought he's got this armory that could take over the world.
And only thing I didn't like well kind of know just about the prerogels, not the prerogels, the sequels was the main bad guys flint from being good but I know it's a cliche here. Make your bad guys bad. Make your good guys good. And that when the guy at the Weasley from Harry Potter series, the general cover is near now, who turned out to be the spy who wanted just kind of run gone.

And when they showed the promotional pictures, a couple of past I was talking on it. Like, oh, this is amazing. My Brianna Todd is going to be an fucking star on the river. And she was hardly it.
That's the thing with the second one was pitiful. I said a lot of me stopped. She has a lot of good ideas and a lot of things that just never panned out or went with them. They were more constrating on love stories.
And again, I know as a fan, you've got to give us texture and context. But we're going to see a film that's called Star Wars. We want to see fucking Star Wars. Who's going to fall in love with this person or this person now loves this person?
Yeah, that was too much concentrated on that and the new ones as well. Because we're like, well Finn and Paul and Finn and Ray and Paul and Ray. And it's like, no, no, why can't they just be friends? Like what's wrong with friendship?
That was the whole point of the originals. They were friends and Lando makes that point at the end. He's like, you know, we only did this because we had our friends. It's fucking friendship.
It's not a love first. But again, going back to the pre-ables again. When I first came out, there were the most disappointing things I've seen. Like, it was pretty much like, not the same story, but if you ever watch a film called Fan Boys.
My favorite film is one of my favorites. It's hilarious. It is just a take on flexion. Nords trying to decide that the one to go and see Star Wars.
It's not the most happiest of the films due to the story, but it's one of my favorite films ever because it is just a representation of my life. True, but makes it insane. It fits in perfectly as how we felt like just before the Phantom Menaceque. We had in queue.
If this was yours in the meeting, we were saying this is going to change everything. And then they just turned around and we should have gone, what happens if it's not very good? And we had to realise that we had to live that. They just gave that little tease because I know it did get a lot of negative.
It wasn't what we wanted. It wasn't what we expected. We got it. But again, would you change it?
Probably not because we've got the main thing. He was having his idea. I'm glad in a way he didn't get any control over the three that came after because I reckon there would have been more of a car crash than there were. At least the Force Awakens was a decent film.
It was a standard one. I'd say we got something that was a bit special. And I came out the cinema after seeing the Force Awakens. I've seen a Star Wars film.
I've enjoyed that. I had goosebumps. I didn't get that too much with the two that came after. But we didn't know.
I got a bit feels through that mind. There was a lot that was wrong with it. But it didn't give us the same as the Force Awakens. The one thing with the prequels is the writing, the dialogue itself, the acting, the hidden person.
I want to be a real man. In that apartment they're absolutely horrendous. But what I absolutely love is how much shit that man got for them films. The dialogue is not his fault.
But the delivery is. It was horrendous. But what I love is... It was no passion at all in them films.
It was like your program to computer to see it. It was so bad. He got so much shit for that. It really did put his career on a bit of a downward spiral.
But what is so beautiful is that when they announced last year that he was going to be in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series as Darth Vader, the love that the community has given to him is absolutely unreal. When he went to Star Wars celebration for the 40th anniversary, the amount of love that that man got was unreal. I think he was so nervous about going because he knows what the Star Wars community thinks of him. It is no different than what the Batman community thinks of George Clooney.
So he knows what he would be walking into and what he got with the complete opposition. Because I think people have realized that he was a child when he did the piece. And all he did was follow a direction. And whatever we got on the screen was approved by an adult.
That was not his fault. As I said, a lot of questions are the decisions I would have kept in. I know they tried to keep things in. I haven't built it.
See it or didn't make any sense at all. I have an R2 being there as well. I know the one in the key, all the elements with them. But tell different stories, tell different things.
I can say the more interesting things for the pre-goals were the bits that I can say that Darth Maul was an amazing bad guy. Tell me more about him. White or Jim was an interesting character. I was saying at the end, seeing Obi-Wan being reckless, like say you and McGregor wasn't about what we wanted, not going to be his return.
It's got an interesting scene, how long you can age in tattooing. It's gone from his then to what Alex Guinness looked like in New York. What would they do with you in a little bit? I love you and McGregor when I love his commitment to the character as well.
He was having so much fun. He was having so much fun. I remember he was producing the film and thought about like David Fite and he was doing hand movements. I just do this automatically now and you can tell he loved being it.
But that's what I was about after this. I wish he was given better though, that's the thing. That's why I know going forwards would be given a blueprint. I know we're not going to talk about the TV stuff too much.
Just because I see it with the blueprint going forward with how the Mandalorian has shown us the way of how to do Star Wars and do it in the way that needs to be done. It's telling Star Wars deals in that universe with different factors that have to be about the force or doesn't have to be like the other sky. I think in the past they've been scared to go away from these characters. I don't think they're scared anymore.
I know they've dipped the toys in their stuff like solo, which again was said at the start. I like solo. I know I've got a hand. But as a straight film, it's fun.
It's entertaining. It's got characters in that to be fair. The poor young lad that was on high enough in the young Caris and Ford. He was going to get compared to the even if he was brilliant.
