Hi everyone and welcome to the NERDY OF NORTH podcast. It's a NERDY podcast that is hosted by and other nerds. I am, what are you host? And I am the other host, Paul.

And it's Junidir. What's going on? It's very early. That's late.

It's shining in our faces tonight. Listen, at least we're proving them one of our vampires. But yes, and we joined by the emmavess into the beautiful, the handsome, the godlike features himself, nerdy fucking Jesus. That's me and you will be smilted.

Jake, so we are joined by the wonderful Jake. Hello, it's been a while since I've been on the Sunday show. Yes, it's been a show. The emmavessent, ongoing, never stopping, please.

I'm not being held captured. I'm not being held captured. I'm not locked in the nerd room, honest. Some eaters let me come out and help food.

I'll be now and then. I was told that I wasn't out of the time. It was all the time. I wasn't out of the time.

That was a nice thing. That's a lot of body said that. I had to imagine my Donalds. I was happy.

Everyone's kind of the holiers and like, I've got one all in, you've got to do anything. You've got to say that. What I said was, is it internationally probably explored? You may come back to Norgrove.

I can't do this after this. It's a bad thing. It can happen at any point. It could all explode.

But yes. We thought we would have a dear time episode simply because for one reason. And I'll give another like, Jake, tell us that reason. So, Jake, why are we on early today?

I can do so. I run the Gaming Up North podcast. What about co-hosts? The wonderful sliding sloop as she's known on Twitch.

She's had a real whirlwind couple of years on Twitch, made lots of amazing friends, loads of success, loads of followers. It does great work. She's actually stepping out of the streaming game. Just because she feels like it's ran its course, she's done all the stuff she wants to do.

She doesn't want to be tied down with having to do something that might take the fun out of it. So, tonight, she's having a big Bonanza farewell stream that's going to run from like 5pm tonight to late. I'm sure there's going to be loads of funny games, loads of swearing, probably some drinks. It's a big old party on sliding sloops, which that's what you search for.

I'm sure we'll drop some links and stuff to share it. But yes, we love your sleep. It's sad to see you go, which is still going to appear on our Nodie of North videos every once in a while to chat video games and stuff. It's one of the things that we are very proud of in the community is when people support us, we will do everything we can to support them.

That's quite an important message I think that we need to get out there is we always do support people who give a shit about us. And Sloop has always given us shit and always, and when she's guested on the podcast, she's always been at the light. And she's joined the Gaming of the North podcast. Not saying that you haven't even done a bad job.

It's just taken us to a new fucking level. It's been a really good injection of like a new personality that just fills all of the gaps and you're like, okay, this is working better now. Absolutely. No, I felt it.

So I totally get it. So yes, another reason why we wanted to do an episode today, because we could have just said let's have a day off. But no, we could have. Yes, but no, because it's been something very important happened this weekend.

It's been like, as normal, because I know me and Sami always get excited for this time of year, because it is San Diego Comic Con time and we will get there one dear. Oh, yes, this is live. This is recorded. I will get there.

One dear. One dear. If you ask this, we're over the Atlantic Ocean himself. By the cost of the aeroplane, is he?

My tactic. No, no, no. There was sponsored dinghy raft fucking. Every time I do give us a pound.

If you want to see me live stream the journey across the channel. In a riot. Sami can we talk about that life insurance policy. We were just supposed to be private.

Okay, I'll call you. My people call your people. I'll call you. I'm just going to say.

I'm just going to speak. Adam as well who basically led the truck that you've just heard us come on live to do as well. Like say, basically put that together within a couple of years. So, yes, thank you there.

All giant one. Good. Yes. It's very trade like as we keep getting told.

But yes. So, yes. You leave my assistant Adam alone. So a few things have came out this weekend.

I know there's one big news that everyone's blew up about one little thing. I just wanted to mention that got me really excited. This was, wasn't yesterday was it before. They announced about Dexter getting.

So there was a couple of announcements. Wasn't there? Yes. So it's new to me.

So what's the announcement? Is basically Michael Cheerholz coming back. Okay. Michael C.

Hall. Sorry. He's coming back and doing busy rebirth or something. Revolution.

Resurrection. Resurrection. We got there at the end. Yeah.

So after busy the new blood, not the new one that's coming out to where they're doing like a prequel. So how Dexter got his killer groove. We're getting a follow up to actually the last one that we got. So yes, it's called resurrection and Michael C.

Hall is returning the role as Dexter Morgan. So it's following. Does that mean he survived? He survived.

Yes. Everyone said that's what everyone said in the comments. I saw the videos of TikTok. It's like, Oh, so he's alive.

But they held no, they were like, yeah, he's alive. There was no hit to that though was like at the end. No, but also he could be a vision ghost because that happens a lot. But no, that's pretty cool.

I don't think he's ran out of steam on that character. Yeah. I think we got it like cruelly taken away from us with what happened with like the final season and then. Just getting a short reboot season.

It was like a little drop, but then it was like, I want some more. Yeah, especially saying Dexter saw vulnerable and not being like top of top of his game and like basically getting out smart, which we've never seen before indexer. Like so long, which I'm quite interested in. Excited for that.

That was like my big like, yes, excited moment. And or the announced the prequel to the boys where they're doing voice. Like, it's going to start how what you get started when the main character is going to be so algebraic and that what you call the horrible nasty bit. I can't think what I name is.

I don't think it's storm front because that's a joke about that website and stuff and use fit. But I think that's a really bad idea. I don't know if anyone wants to see anymore of the racist characters. Especially.

Yeah, it's it's it's going to be interesting. But if it's a deal with the same style of the dungeon. I'm not going to be thinking as long as it's not like a complete rip off of all this is the boys were just going out there to be more extreme more vulgar. Yeah, just like say give us interest over there.

That was quite interesting. I know we've had other things like rings of power season two was announced. And I'm actually like, I was the one who enjoyed the first rings of power because I'm not too like precious overlord of the rings. It was never like my series grown up or anything.

Apart from I really like the Hobbit is okay, but I know that's like more written for my age group when I read it and stuff. But I had quite like the sort of Sauron back story and stuff. And I think like a lot of the actors did a good job. Even Lenny Henry was like, oh, you're going to make me cry.

Why? Why? But yeah, like I think the actors did a good job and I'm kind of glad they're getting another season because hopefully it'll like be better once they've had more time. Like, you know, hang about together and stuff.

There was some really heartfelt moments and I'm happy that I might get to see some more. It also could be terrible because it's Amazon. Yeah. Yeah.

You don't know. There's not enough out there to like pinpoint all this is going to be this going to be good. I didn't quite finish. I didn't finish it.

I think it gets better towards the end. So if you get any free time to finish it, I would recommend it. I'll add it to the list. I'll be able to just watch the last episode maybe.

I haven't even started this season's The Boys, which is very unlikely. So we've normally had a watch and combine that, but I've been so busy. I have another time to do it. I enjoyed this.

I enjoyed this season. I enjoyed this season. Other news as well. Like I have just little things Colin Farrell's a penguin was announced like a big one fish, but they've actually said that he's going to be a penguin's going to be a part in Batman 2.

Oh, they said something really stupid as well. Like that it was going to be part of like the DC special crime universe. And everyone's like, what the hell is it? Like the organized crime universe or something like that?

They didn't. They had some stupid title and then there's like, I don't want any part of that. Just do that. It shows.

The year of Comic Con has been warned. Yes. Marvel has came out of a busy conant went and said they've got the biggest dick and we have to take it from everyone. They do not want to do that.

They fucking mean it because they've done it. There's been years upon years of Marvel. We're coming with a real deal and they do come and 2024 has been no different. It's been lovely to know that Marvel will back in Hollywood.

They haven't been there for a bit. The last time they were there, they made the announcement of the multiverse. That we're in, which is now completely changed. Yes.

So just before we start as well, we're not going to talk about Wolverine and Deadpool because I know a lot of people haven't seen it yet. So again, there was a panel on YouTube with the Wolverine and Deadpool. If you haven't seen the movie, don't watch the panel yet. There is some big spoilers in that panel as well.

So just a little bit of warning there. If any three of us start talking about a dead fuel story, we have to start the picture. Yes. So we've got a pack there.

Yeah. Thanks for starting off. I came out with the Captain American news. Yeah.

I love Sam Wilson as a comic book character. I loved I was there when Sam Wilson became Captain America. And I was living for it. But for some reason, this is just not kind of getting as excited.

I think it will after you hear what like they said about this, because like what the same is they're going to be grounded in it. The minute more will win the soldier vibes and all the instead of using hydro, they use in the serpent society. That's where a girl solo SP or says their role. I think he's going to be side wind of this call them.

That's so good at your pronounce in his name. I can never. That was so good. Yeah, he's like an older version of the character.

If anyone's like looking them up on the Marvel Wiki and being like that doesn't look like it. Like the play and I'm like older revolutionary type, but yeah, the serpent society. That's a fun. Isn't that no, I'm thinking of invincible.

I was like, there's one of those invincible isn't there like the snakes society people. That must be one of the potential. Yeah. Yeah.

All the spoilers in this like I know this one a lot in the last trailer, like say with the Red Hulk being general Ross, which again, I have a little new fans. We knew. Yeah. Give us it in the trailer.

I would love to say that like fresh and new in the actual movie. But again, that's just maybe like all fart and grumpy. The one thing I am excited about this and the announcements that the finally acknowledging the emergence of the celestial timidet from the in the eternals as a new as an island. But if this is true, because again, this is just rumors and like, you know how we like the rumors.

It's his island is going to be made completely from out of my name. I think like this is confirmed. It's just the can't show us the trailers that might never show us like these versions of the footage. Yeah, it was like confirmed because they said that had a line with Ross being like, we're going to do what we always do go and like claim the like a valuable minerals for America type of thing.

So yeah, looks like we're getting another like, you know, vibranium war sort of thing going on. America want to get there first. I love how we're all not blinking an eye as well. It harris and forders taking over a well beloved actor who was being playing that character for over 10 years as well, which is completely just fine.

This is okay. I'm not Disney fans have got to learn to accept recasts because like the Star Wars stuff has gotten so bad where they put in CGI faces on people who look like Luke and they can see I voices literally just so that don't recast and it's like just do it. We don't know if we would look. Yeah, I would have been I would have been totally okay with Sebastian Stan walking out and being like Luke Skywalker I'd have been totally cool that because he looks exactly like it does any like just if you tell us it's Luke if he's just like Luke.

I would have to accept it. There was one bit in the trailer that did like was the when he said you need to remember that you're not Captain America. And he said, you're right. I'm fucking not.

And then he said, you're gonna be a not Steve Rogers. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then it comes out with his falcon wings and I'm like that that's right there that I do like that touch. Yeah, because he tried to think he's got Paul and he's like, no, he's not got the same Paul as what Steve had type thing.

Yeah, I liked in the Falcon went to soldier show his parts were the best where he was like reckoning with like where he stands in like the world now he's been sort of given this title but doesn't know what to do with it. Yeah, it's like hopefully the little if they build on that stuff and then they've given him like general rosters are sort of somewhat like but heads with I think that could be like heads with a roster to be. But if he's a comic accurate but the other stuff that came out like we didn't say it but the trailer for the thunderbolt was meant to be shown but we did get to see David Harbour in full outfit, and he's walking down the aisle and he's thick Russian accent being amazing and interesting as well. Sebastian Stan was asked what do you think is the standout thing that's going to set the thunderbolts apart from anything else he pointed to Florence peer went to her there.

So she's going to carry the whole film. Yeah, apparently she's got some kind of like new cool mask as well to go with whatever characters at the moment. Is it Elena Elena yes. Yeah, I absolutely adored her.

She was the only decent thing in the Black Widow movie they don't get around I love David Harbour I thought he was absolutely brilliant but she was spectacular in Hawkeye. Probably one of the only decent things to come out with Marvel TV. She was fucking spectacular and that's I reckon she will carry the entire movie on the back of her shoulders. 100% and apparently they become self aware with US agent as well because like in the Falcon show.

The kind of half wanted us to like him up to a point but I think now that's become self aware that everyone hates that guy and hates his face. So now he's like a dark version of that character where he's like you know like they made some joke like he's turned his phone to dark mode now. It sounds like the maybe that is what we've kind of unlocked with Marvel like if they become self aware and realized what they've been doing for like the past sort of five years or whatever. But when we talk about another movie that's why it's going to come into focus I think that's right.

But yeah, but is it true that Feige is kind of being pushed aside in the studio of trying to get their hands back on to think because for a long time Feige has been at the steering wheel of Marvel and the studio he has been the one pushing them back. He took these I think the rumors I kicked about is they give him like busy the role of control of everything. And basically like that's not just like the show is the movies this is like Marvel comics like everything so he kind of took his eye off the ball and said right I'm going to focus on this because he wanted to build a comic back up. And it's the highest fingerprints in there but he wasn't as hands on with other stuff that has changed with I believe after the big mess up that we've had I think the Marvel's was like the big wake up call for like Disney where and have said right.

And then we'll be back on that's why you were getting TV shows cancelled. We're getting apparently movies that were rumored are not going to happen anymore like young Avengers is supposed to be thrown away that's ideas was to be gone west coast adventures as was to be gone as well. And I know that these different ideas of think only reason wonder man still coming out is because it was actually filmed and completed same same with the heartness that was because it was film completed. Then we're going to be the last studio led things that are from Marvel but from now on it is going to be his city because that's why he said if we're gonna release the TV show we're doing one TV show you.

We're going back to the three movie a year fail. So it's going to be like not all the Lord and not all the staff with Marvel. And that's why we didn't get too much of thing that's why basically Deadpool not dead. They're basically the look at everything from that was filmed and done from there.

Was completely thrown out in the start again. Oh, I'm so pleased. You can tell some of that they've been a shift from what from the end of end game up until where we are to do the definitely being a shift in the model camp. They met Sandy, it felt like Kevin's on his hand completely, well completely back on the reins.

Well, they announced as well like say the next thing that the brought out after this done with the was the fantastic for new name the three named a brave new world. It's first steps. That was the first thing. That was the brand new world was coming.

So that used to be called new world order or something. That's correct. So it's fantastic for first steps. Right.

They've given us a release date which is only next year, which I thought financial was a lot further down the line. The premise as well. The like the shortest the car, the flying fucking car from the Jets. Fantastic car.

It looks like the Jets and the doors. So what it's going to be like, I think this is going to be Marvel being coochie and Marvel being like just fun. I think that's what I say. Like, you know, when we got Spiderman homecoming, it was like silly.

It felt like a teenager. If they're going to do like that 60s vibe, I hope they don't go full one division, like, winging out the screen and stuff like that. But if they keep the tone right, they've got the cast. Like, I can't see a better cast for the fantastic four.

I mean, I just say as well what I'd heard, this was just from watching videos from people who'd been in the audience and the stuff that said they showed. Some sort of footage that was like, is if it was fake behind the scenes of the in character, fantastic four people, film in a TV show, and they were like the atmosphere between these guys, like was amazing. Like, they felt like a real family and stuff. So that makes me like super excited because it means they've obviously let the actors have some time to get into their properly in person and stuff and weren't like on green screens just recording like single blinds and stuff.

And also, they were saying there's a thing with Reed Richards being like a Bill Nye the science guy, like TV character. He's putting on like a bit of a silly voice. Like he's a TV character in that in their universe. Oh, I love that.

We've got they've definitely got the custom right. Vanessa Kirby, Sue Storm is just perfect. You know what I mean? Press me as well.

Because related to Sue Storm, he was saying like, I've been looking at like the creative guy. He did one division. He was like, I've been looking at like how can aliens change the colors to try and work on that. And he was like, I've been looking at lots of retro 50s futurism for like the art style stuff.

It's like many people put an art in these movies again. It's not just like weird like military suits and everything. But I think I know they've done test footage of Galactus as well because Galactus is going to be like the mean bad as long as it's not a fucking cloud. That's all I care about.

As long as it's not a cloud, make this less still coming to munch the fucking earth. But yeah, I'm so excited and I'm glad they haven't shown too much. Like we've not seen anything other so the surf yet. So again, it's going to be quite interesting.

Then we got the big news. What we thought was the big news that was like a double revealed in there. Yeah, because I got excited since I announced that the Russo brothers because it was rumored that we were going to return because it's been such a when it's it's surrounded like the Avengers, the next two Avengers has been so much chaos and so much change and things not kind of like not going to plan. Some Marvel's fault.

Some not Marvel's fault. I can't really help what's happened. But it seems with the Russo brothers, it's on show a fun. Like I'm like, I know all these people I know they know what they're doing now they know the source material and they all said the works like if they ever got the chance they wanted to do segment was, which I think that's one of the announced first was going to come out.

They give us the dates. I can see it was actually coming out afterwards. It's coming out. No, it's coming out to that.

Yeah. 2007. Yeah, we got to wait till 26 for any any Avengers I think. But then they give us the room went green and they give us the name which was Avengers doomsday and you're like fuck yes, but again, I know I don't know if I spoke about this on the podcast before we've remembered this when we heard about the like not wanting to go ahead with can that do was going to be the next big bar to the could say using it because it makes sense if they're going to say it was the need to do is the mean like catalyst for anything that goes on and say it was so I was excited.

Did you expect for the man to take the mask off. No, no, when they're all standing at the back I was like, oh, that's a nice touch isn't it. You know, they've got all this like scenery going on didn't expect them to fucking part with it and someone come walking out. But I could not I couldn't gauge his size.

I couldn't gauge anything about him. And I was like, what the fuck. And then which is fucking mask off and the man himself. I don't know.

So what did you get from the words he said there was well. Because other masks same task. Yeah. So do you have heard a couple of people saying different interpretations.

I've heard some people interpret it as like he's saying like new masks same task in filmmaking as in they're going to go back and make good stuff like Avengers like one and anymore again. But also it's kind of interesting if you think about in universe because it could be like Tony Stark wanting to put the world in armor but in a more like forceful fashion like for a different reason. That's kind of what I was thinking as well. Yeah, that's the impression I got.

Now he wants to like rule the world to protect it but also to control everything. Because I said it's one of them things if they've got multiple different variants of different people. You've got to get the one very funny stock that doesn't want to save the world that wants to control the world. So again, if it's like if they're going to do a victim on doing what's just like a different version of the stock fair enough.

Yeah, like that's that's the thing we're not sure on like my gut was saying was thinking like it will be twisted Tony Stark and maybe that'll be like a joke of been like what are you some kind of like Dr. Who's doing whatever you like to be like men, I go scheme was like super weapons. Because like that was what I was thinking. Oh, it's like it's Tony Stark if he kept on being like a weapons seller and then obviously he's creating like instead of him creating like infinite power he's creating like you know infinite super weapons out of like the test or act and shit like that.

I think I think the world will I think the kind of even like the fundums can't handle as they said or it's Tony Stark as Dr. I'll have to be Victor that leaves me. I feel like we'll have to be one of the other and divide though in the fandom. Wow.

I can't understand because people were saying it was lazy and stuff but to me it's more exciting than other than ignoring the possibilities like imagine the Avengers lining up to face like do many zombies and all it is is pull down the mask. It's going to take them all off guard like it's going to tear their hearts apart. Do you think he's going to change his voice though like do you think it's going to be a full on different performance or will it be more mechanical mechanical because it'll come through but then simply take some mask off and say that that's going to be a full on different performance. I'm going to cry my eyes out when I say Peter Parker's fierce when he realizes he's going to snap his neck and pull his spine out.

Wow. He does that when he's like the white version he's like well I like me for eyes. I don't know how it's going to play out because in my I'm still trying to wrap my head around the whole thing because I'm not going to that. I hadn't really thought we were going to get an Adam driver or something along those lines when it came to doom.

I had no I had no inkling in my brain that we would have an Avengers doomsday movie to start with like that didn't even cross my mind so to now know that it's going to be RTG coming back into Marvel which a lot of. You know like at that point who is going to be our adventures because I guess thought it was going to come back. I think I was going to have Spidey to lead because that was my Marvel's thoughts are hard but not thought like to give Sony everything they needed for it. As I've said, they've announced the Fantastic Four is going to be in both Avengers movies, so I think...

But then are we at the point where Spider-Man's been deleted from history? No one remembers him, but that's going to be the quite interesting way he brings back and brings the team back, because I do think he's going to be the fourth one. He has to be for Secret Wars. They've just kicked the writer off Spider-Man and changed it, so it's not going to be the guy who wrote those three MCU Spider-Man movies, who's going to do the standalone Peter movie.

So I don't know if they are trying to like course correct what they did with No Way Home. Oh no, sorry, you said Toby was going to lead. Secret Wars. Secret Wars apparently the three big ones in Secret Wars.

I know it sounds cheesy. It's pretty to the rumours, because again it's literally, Secret Wars has got every single character that's ever been in any of the movies apparently, and the variants on top of that. But the three people that's supposed to be going to be getting the gang and the team together, it's supposed to be Toby, but why Spider-Man? Deadpool.

And Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. Then it's supposed to be the three main characters that go through, because now we find out that dead, sorry, I'll leave that for another day. I think that makes sense though, because they're like, they are at the same time characters that have crossed worlds before, and we'll do it again. And because they're a bit silly and they don't have, Toby has a family to leave behind.

But it's not the kind of thing where like if you ripped like, wartime Steve Rogers out of his like family life and if you had a happy life, that would be the wrong. If you ripped Tony's stuff away from Pepper to send him to the Secret Wars, it would feel bad, but these three guys are kind of like, they're free in their sort of fans eyes to just run off and have adventures. I just think that it's the one that did use Venom or the black suit Spider-Man. It's not the way to get, I can say the lion comes back.

That's the one I think again makes more sense to that, because he's had the experience with the black suit. With the Tom Holland one, it'd be interesting. But again, this is where, this weekend has been so important for nerds and like say nerds alike, just simply because this has got the conversation back and this has got to be mixed and talked about for so long. So what we have had to talk about is not being like the most positive, like it's been very hard to find a positive word when remarks to like Marvel, that it's been like, I even put a post up yesterday, like I am loving the buzz coming off the community right now, because the conversations are starting, the theories are starting, the ideas are starting, you know, it's just, and not even come across one person being a dick about it.

They're just incredibly excited about where we are. So no one I was thinking about as well in regards to like that kind of thing. I was thinking like, so like last time there was a Marvel movie, me and Paul went to see it on our own. And I was like, that was a big, big movie.

It was that Ant-Man point of man, which was setting up stuff, was setting up a lot of future stuff at that time. And I feel like after that, none of us ever watched or talked about Marvel stuff ever again. You know what I mean? And everything else.

I was watching. It's fine. But then after that, everyone was so scared that we didn't even plan to go see Wolverine and Deadpool together because what if it's shit? Like in the back of everyone's head, I'm pretty sure all of you have had that thought at some point that this could be terrible.

It's the Phantom Menace thing. Yes. Everyone got so hyped up for the Phantom Menace. Terrified.

It's like a lot of scars, like especially our weird group. Yeah, but now I am seeing a future where we will probably all want to go see the next big Marvel thing together. Like as a group instead of like on our own. Because it'll be the three movies a year.

It'll be the beginning of the year leading up to the first one. And then once the first one's done leading up to the summer one and then leading up to the summer you're going into the end of the year. And it's such that time in between from one to the other is such an exciting time. And it's something I have missed thoroughly like so badly.

And yesterday, just and even this morning just felt like I was right back at like end, like the feeling of when endgame was coming out. It's all I can take it back to because obviously there's been so many in between. But it's that time period that you've got between each movie. And it felt so good yesterday to be like on the Facebook page and it's just nothing but positivity and conversations and everyone like the buzz was amazing.

It's got time to be on there. It is brilliant. Yeah. And to say that.

Sorry. Do you just say that? I mean, today's disclaimer is going to be projected so the people in the back can hear it loud and clear. There is our opinions and our opinions alone.

If you'd like to discuss anything from today's episode, a please come and join us on the Facebook page. They're discord or the comment section where we can have an open discussion. But what we want to have is anyone coming for us in town? The Sarah opinions are wrong because we can all agree to disagree in fandom.

So let's keep it. Be kind and keep the toxic behavior out of nerdism. Well said, Daniel. Well said.

I did that. Look and directly into my camera for the first time. She looked into my soul. I'll tell you so all apart.

Wrong film. And if you can't, if you knock down with that in the model words of one of our members, get fucked. That's not our new era. It is a dirty, not logo and spray.

Missed opportunity. End short today is Spiderman. 2002. We're not going to take it away.

It's a joke from saliva. It took me forever to realize it was saliva. I was like, is that just nickel back? I'm sure that doesn't just sound like nickel back.

You need to have a broken and disturbed brain like mine. That remembers too much about the new metal days. What I wanted to say was when Sammy, when you were like, I got the end game, buzz back again, this was the first movie that kicked off the Marvel buzz in everybody. I know we had other ones, but this was a movie for the whole family.

It wasn't a scary vampire thing. It was Spiderman. It was Spiderman. I feel like this is the character that all my husband, Jake, this is the character everyone wanted to see back in the day when it was the amazing Spiderman cartoon was out.

For me, I said that all TV shows, like having the world coming, where it's called Spiderman. Spiderman. I used to have someone to watch the screen like this. It's Spiderman.

For me, this was the unfilable movie because I know special effects and everything came forward and moved on leaps and bounds. I thought it was an impossibility to me. Spiderman looked real, not look silly, not because even watching back now, I got no joke before. The CGI is a bit rough, but what they did at the time, again, just blew me weird.

I've got quite a good story with this. So storytime with Paul, guys. I was so excited when this got announced, like the movie is coming out. It was a time where you could get pirate DVDs quite easily.

You would just go to a little car booth and say them. I would go up each weekend waiting for them to be able to get the holds of the Spiderman discs because, as you said, it used to get released early sometimes or things. In America sometimes, we used to have to wait sometimes. So it's not like it is now where you go on a website and see the release or see when it's been, you had to basically see if it was there.

I would go up to the store and say Spiderman there, not at all. And when they did, it was a little thing. It wasn't on DVD. It wasn't on VHS.

It was on VCD. It was where you used to get. When it was like a normal film, you used to get two normal compact discs where it was half a movie and one and the other half a movie on the other disc. Spiderman was a three discer because it was a long movie and the effects and everything.

It took a ball space. So I got on. First disc worked. The second disc didn't.

No. So the third did. So it was a missing the middle. So I had to go back to the car booth till the next week.

You couldn't go back to the same day. And because it closed and ran away at that. We got him guys. We got him.

So that was my dodgy lifestyle at the time. When it's my man who's gone out. Before we get into the Nooks and Cranny of this film, I have some spectacular taglines to share with the AC. They are amusing, they are amusing.

And there is a few. I'm going to be the ultimate other. The first one, I feel like you know the first one with great power comes great responsibility. Next one, ordinary man, an extraordinary power.

Power. I think that one. Get ready for the ultimate spin. Yeah.

Spins once or twice I guess. Oh, I like this one. Do you want to know who I am? I'm Spiderman.

That's a lie. Just say that. Next summer one hero will take you for the ultimate spin. Oh, that spins.

Spin the web. Spin the web. Spin the web. Spin the web.

On May 3rd, the entire world will connect to the web. Oh God. Broadband came up. Maybe that was true.

Maybe a gift to curse the destiny. Right. If someone told you I was just your average guy, not a care in the world. Somebody lied.

That's really bad. This is my gift. It's my curse. Oh, I like that one.

Go for the ultimate spin. There you go. And finally, turn your world upside down. There's at least one.

He's on the ceiling. I guess they can have that one. Let me check this one. Guy with your hands sounds kind of hot.

What can he do with all this? He should all be one big hug. Yeah, they are your taglines for this movie. However, capacity we came in, whether that be posters.

Yeah, like the box. Yeah. This is spinning. This movie, like I know, like, we'll joke and like, there's a lot of movies that's game after.

I know the conversation or the debate for another day is which is about spider movie spider spider one or spider two. There's a lot of things to talk about that. But this movie, I know we said a lot. I think just a fiberly in this changed the game, but every single movie, like not just by superhero, but blockbuster movie that followed literally because it wasn't just about spectacle.

The looks visually, it was about story and it didn't try and be too clever. Didn't try and change big things like I said, Batman, 1989, where the change, the jorps back story from George Shields and stuff like that, which kills me. But with this, it basically kept everything on point. It got the right characters to play that.

There's some very questionable teenagers, but again, other than that, like literally. One of the best and me is that ever short in any form. Yes. On the Ben breaks you every time how just wholesome and just loving and just perfect.

Like the environment for like Peter grew up to be the boy years to be Maguire's Peter Parker. Again, when he's on it is just fucking magic. It gave us join a Jefferson like we've never experienced before. We can never have again.

That's like that's like he like left off the comic pages like that. He literally did. JK Simmons, you can't. He's actually made it impossible to recast.

Yeah. He ended up with J John Jameson because he is like a subject. He's a comic book accuracy. He would have to do it with an impression of him.

Yeah. The word he's made it impossible to recast it, which is why he's the only one who's been used for across this Spiderman verse. I think as long as you can still go, as long as you can still do a rant. Keep on.

Give me those. Just now. You're a nice Christmas ham. As the best I can do.

This is the first time you ever see the book. The first time you ever see that and it has obviously has changed throughout the years. Yeah. It's on theme song.

Actually, I want to start on that. Like what do you think about the opening credits? Because I absolutely love all of the three Spiderman's opening credits. This one's fairly similar.

It's like the like building the suit out of the webs and stuff like that. Yeah. But the Danny Elfman score is absolutely insane. It's like perfect.

There's only one part where it sounds exactly like Batman. But other than that, his like Peter's Spiderman theme is just perfect for a movie. I can't fault it. I did get a lot of Beelzebubis vibes off the old Ninja's.

Just because of the little spider strings. Because I think that's what he was doing in Beelzebubis. He was doing those little little plucky things that sounded like this. But I did love the old Ninja.

I felt it was just a time in movies. It gives you proper chills as well. It's a triumphant superhero score. But I think like Marvel hit it again with the Avengers theme.

You know, like that's the proper Avengers theme. They need to hit. They need to do that again. I can't stand like MCU movies.

I can't sit through loads of more with like forgettable scores because like you need to hit out the park with something like this. No, not definitely. It just gets you like all the fails. Like even I probably never sport about him on this podcast because I don't really rate him too much as an actor.

James Franco is perfect as Harry Osborn because he's smart. He's a person. But you know what though Paul? Harry Osborn is also kind of a freak.

He's a really good cast for it because I'm like, yeah, I hate this guy. That's what he's supposed to be. Personally, Frank or can get in the bin, but his performance is Harry Osborn was. I don't think it's a performance.

I think it's just James Franco being James Franco. When you're acting up against the likes of Willem de Four and you can still manage to have some screen time. You've done all right because Willem de Four is just, oh, he is a fucking powerhouse in this movie. Again, I'm glad you brought this up because this was my only little gripe about this movie.

And again, it's only me I knew to which the did course correct and the new Spiderman was the mask. Because you cast someone like Willem de Four, who's usually is so prominent and can do the green goblin's face without a mask and look terrifying and shove this. This saw it's amazing looking mask, but it's got no movement nor flexibly and it just doesn't showcase what William de Four. Because when you get the close ups and you see how wild these eyes are and his teeth are almost like dropping out the mouth through the mask.

It's beautiful. I would love that more. Especially when we got it in like say, Norway home when we get the full goblin like we see William de Four's face. Yes, it's just shows how much this movie would have been more scary.

Because that's because some really made this film not as just like a superhero film. There was shots in it straight out of the evil dead like the way he used the camera tricks and used like the focus and moving and stuff like that. I'm surprised that like so well, so I can give a fuck. Let's be honest.

As long as Spiderman's on that screen, so I couldn't give two shit. As long as I keep the name and just go back to Willem de Four for a second. And his performance is just it's breathtaking. That man did 90% of his stunt work.

Really? He jumped out through the window and everything like oh, he had no interest in this trip whatsoever. He really is. He had no interest in this trip whatsoever to start with until he started.

He actually went and did a little bit of homework and I've got to have to fucking play this part. So he just rallied at Sam Raimi and then like, yeah, you can take it to have this service. It was a brief choice for like the film as well because basically the adapted parts of the death of the great, the death of Gwen's CSC storyline. Yeah, it's Spiderman.

It means Spiderman 121. Yeah, so basically that was like the story arc that I've used, but then again, right here wrong, we the lost the ball and like the big scene again, I know I'm German where in the comics Spiderman had to choose whether to see if the real cart or see if Gwen only chose. They tried to see if both but Gwen didn't make it. And this one had Mary G in which we knew she was never going to write the politics because she's integral to like say the Spiderman or unless they're going to be brought to the off page.

The Nelly did in the third one. But yeah, I'm talking about custom Dunson this movie that really sets my teeth on edge. Oh, really? It's a wishy talks.

Okay, yeah. It's the wispy she does and it's like, oh, please just be speaking on a level. She's not like the come and get it tiger Mary Jane. No, not yet.

And they did some really cool nods with Mary Jane's character and little subtle ones were her with a costume everything that she wore was either a nod to Green Goblin the original Green Goblin Goblin or towards the end of the movie everything she wore color wise. Was a pallet that Gwen Stacy would wear. So it was really cool what they did with our costume through segments of the film because they wanted to reference so badly that we are doing the amazing Spiderman 121. This is what we're taking inspiration from, which is not using the actual characters from it.

So we're just going to give you a little nod to use Mary Jane's costumes to do that. Yeah, I just love the film and of this movie as well. I know we're talking to you. It's like a comic book.

There was panels that looked like we straight out of the books as well. The way it was framed and the characters they used in this as well was so larger in life. It was like watching it even like something as stupid as the macho man was born so fucking how amazing was that. Who would have thought you would need that?

You know when you're like, okay, Spiderman starts off as a wrestler in his career, which is from the books. But I think in that, the whole Colgan fear Crusher Hogan didn't know the guy who's in the original Spiderman. That would have been scary. But yeah, who would have thought that dropping macho man Randy Savage and Bruce Campbell and tell me why it's in a scene together would work with it's one of the best things you'll ever see.

I've got such a funny story that Joe Manganello told on the Nerdist podcast because obviously Joe Manganello plays Flash in the movie. Wasn't odd. So look at IMDB afterwards. Yeah, the master friend.

He told me it all. That's Joe's probably the lady who is. The lady who probably was around that age will be because of the fact that he's for seek is always going to look bigger and he talked about, he does a great macho man impression as well, but he talked about the experience of him being on set. And when he found out that macho man was going to be on set, he was like, I have to be in that day.

He's not even in the scene. He had to be there. So when he went, he was like, he didn't really know what to expect. But what he got was everything.

He said that when he walked in, you know how all that women are sitting around him. He had other women who would sit around him. It's real life version. Yes, it would oil him up.

And he would be just standing there getting oiled up and like, it sounds like introducing Joe to Randy Savage. And while he's getting oiled up and he's just like, hey, brother, hold on. Probably be in macho man because he never turns off. He's never not that person.

You can't tell who, what's the name Randy's real name? Oh, Puffle. Puffle. That's a certain name.

I know you'll become really good friends with his brother. The genius. He's a genius. He's a lanny puffle.

That's it. And he put, yeah, Joe said it was just, it was surreal. He was, then he would go and move to on scene with these other women who would be surrounding him who went oiling him up. It was a brilliant woman's story.

Macho Man was in an interesting time in his sort of career at that point. He wasn't wrestling much, but he had started the thing that a lot of online wrestlers, sorry, a lot of wrestlers have done since online where he had like his own kind of workout videos and he had like an album. He was making like an online brand for himself, basically. He was doing promos against Triple H on his YouTube channel, just like calling him out in sort of real life.

If that makes sense. It's a long shift that he was listening as well. And he did sadly pass away and not too long after this. I think it was just like high steroid use, which when you see him in his heart attack, full on heart attack, and it was while he was driving, he likely could have survived the heart attack.

He couldn't survive the injuries because of the crash. Yeah. It's a sad tale, but it's nice that he got to be in this movie like immortalized in this scene because I think around the time it seemed like it was a pretty dark time for him. You know, like he wasn't getting calls from bins to come back and do his like funny like, you know, Hogan was back around this era doing his like return to it.

He was the one left out. So it was nice that he got picked up for this and how all the fans were just like, yeah, Sausage is and he's not even your Spider-Man character. But now he's another most famous thing to come out of the movie. You mentioned this movie.

What's the first thing that comes to your head? Sorry. But I think I've told the story before on the podcast, but I'm never going to not tell it. I just love the fact that, as I said, Bruce Campbell made his debut in this and he's been in every single summary of me.

Well, Marvel movie, but he was put like the first three. And I love that it was building up to that he was going to be playing Quentin Beck. That was that was the whole thing that he was going to be a studio in a few times because as you said, all these performances, I've a, he was a ring announcer trying to get into the business. He was a winner.

And then he was like, yeah, like, doing extra work while he was trying to be an actor. And then he was working in the theatre because he was trying to get a role. So it was almost like they're building up to be like, again, each of the things he did, he had such an influence on Spider-Man and how like, what, Spider-Man, if you think about it, like, it's in the first movie, the name Spider-Man, because it would have been getting the man Spider if it wasn't for. Spider-Man Spider.

Spider-Man Spider does whatever. I just love it though. You put that clip up just when he's like, he's like, that kid and he's just like quickly thinks of something new on the flag. That's terrifying.

Yeah. I love that the had that in store from it. I think he would have done a really good job as going back. That would have been quite interesting.

But you know, like in hindsight, like with that not happening, it's fun that he is just a bit of a sort of weird, like otherworldly presence because like Peter never acknowledges that he's met him before. Like I think we're to assume it's a different person, you know, as it stands now. Because like I'm sure he has a little mustache and stuff when he's like doing the theatre. The way to get into the theatre is the way to.

I think we're supposed to just be like, ah, it's just another copy of his brother. We're just not supposed to take it that seriously. And I really like how he's the sort of weird touchstone in all the movie. He basically just shows up to like Hasselpieder for a bit and then leave and like that's it.

But it's like when he's trying to get out and put like the, he's trying to like bring in the engagement ring. And he's like, I don't know, he's like, I don't know, he's like, I don't know, he's like, I don't know. He's like, he's really good. He's the one that tells Peter that he can't come into the theatre as well.

So he causes like the fact that he ruins that date really bad. Doesn't he? Like if he was there. That's always the story of the lifetime for Peter as well.

He's always like, yeah, this man with so much burden and so much on his shoulders. And he just wants like, say the normal life at times. He gets fired in this movie for being late, which is a very right doctor. Kind of like, um, which is the command of the colors.

Like it's Peter, like you can't just be in the second chance. Right. Third or fourth chance. So like say that's from, that's always the Peter that's always something.
