I have been praising Kelly today. So we're in our little group chats. I said she is near embodiment of everything that Nodipnoff should be. That's all I would say.
Well to be honest the only one that hasn't given me a fucking headache in the last month or so. Kelly I love you. Yay! Achievement time.
We are back. Catherine, two week hiatus. Did you miss us? What did you do when I was on the night to talk to your family?
Did you have fun? You could communicate with people that you live with. Did you create a Ouija board and talk to the dead? Why did you tell them the secrets of what we did?
All I did was sleep and I get messaged off Sam saying I'm sad. We haven't got a podcast on that time. I was like I'm not busy and it's fine. So I told him that he didn't say it.
Yes. That's what he gets. I'll tell him about what's happening. I was like let's have two weeks off then.
This whole thing with the game I throw and stuff. So last Sunday we went we caught a few videos. Started around one o'clock. I got around about half eight nine o'clock and I was like I'm fucking off now.
We just leaves the lawn place. We had so much fun though. It's so nerve wracking Kelly. I know we do this every week and it's fine.
It's what it is. We try and do something on the spot by going hi I'm Sam. It's sort of what me and Paul had to write scripts out to make sure we were on point because we're having time in a minute because every video to work on Instagram or on YouTube shorts or on TikTok kind of worked to a certain time level so we try to keep everything with under 60 seconds. So to make a 60 second clip or selling an item try and be a bit funny and try and make it interesting rather than just look at this.
Hi which a lot of floating heads did. I can check TikTok. There's a lot of floating heads doing that. But we had a bit of fun.
I think I wanted to talk about today or what have been when this is recorded on Tuesday was me talking about the fact that we found this creepy doll and Paul was instantly like I'm recording and it was a fucking doll that he did. It would come literally each your soul. I really like that video by the way. That's fine.

Question. I know the answer to Sammy's but I'll ask Caddy because she is the bookworm. Did you watch the movie or read the book first? Watch the film first.
The reason behind me watching the film is because of Trista. I remember watching that and it came out and seeing the creepy twins and then obviously have the coincided Jack Nicholson with the axe. With the twisty. It was amazing and the screen is coming off like a classic.
I was like, what is that film? I watched it on the screen. So I did actually watch the film before I read the book in my university years or about 15 years ago. I thought you were in 2021.
How was that possible? I went in trouble with. I read it for this occasion and it's all fresh in the brain. Sammy actually finished the book.
When did you finish the book, Sammy? literally two hours ago. I started two weeks ago and I finished two hours ago. I was determined.
I got a message poll when I was like a couple of chapters off and I was like, I am going to do this. I'm glad I did. I really got I did. I can see because I've always wondered why everyone got so hell-bent on the movie to the boog and I was like and I understand to a degree but I also kind of I understand I think I understand Stanikovic a little bit better now as well and Stephen King separately.
I can kind of separate these two. If that makes sense, am I making sense or I'm a function. No, no, no, no, you make a sense. It's always interesting because a lot of people where people always say, oh, they can't do this, they can't remake that.
But in essence, this is telling the story. It's just this book that's how you tell the story, the simple facts and say the same, but you can embellish, you can change. Again, it's all about the fun of the author. I know there's been a lot of hell on recently about the crew remake.
They said, should never remake the crew. Like, don't go wrong, the core movie is a classic and there's a lot of history and story behind it. But there should never be a caveat and say a movie should never be remade. If someone wants to tell that story a different way, who will wait as people to stand down and say, you cannot do that.
I can't read a little shop of horrors. A little shop of horrors is a stage show. It initially started as a stage show that got adapted into a movie. So whatever comes out afterwards, just like Rocky Horror, it's just an adaptation of the different cast like you would see on stage.
Yeah, but the thing is a little shop of horrors, it's an actual remake of a movie that was made into years ago as well. That's right. That's right. I've seen that one as well.
It's just one of those things. It's just people like they get such a vision on what it is they've read or what it is they've seen and they're like, oh, I would love my vision to look like this. I mean, we all thought about it. We all do it when we talk about movies.
I would like to see it done this way. I remember getting so angry years ago when they had done an adaptation of my favorite book, Yes, Man. It's a British media in Danny Wallace, basically doing British things on the media like a Jim Kirby, Americanized, just bastardized. I didn't realize that was that.
Yeah, so it's, and again, it took me a long time to get over that because I did hurt. But again, it's realizing that you can, for me, the book is always special. But for someone else, the movies want to be special. I think the shiny is one of those ones where it's like to use the opponent.
It's an axe down the middle where the fans ever say, or the books better, or the movies better. There's no one actually sits in the middle and saying, well, that takes them points. And I think it's quite interesting because the book and the movie, and again, I might be wrong since it's been a long time since I've read the book, there's a lot of similarities, but when the change things, they are big changes. There is, but there's a lot of words that are taken out.
So the whole elevator of the blood, for example, doesn't happen. But it is said quite a few times. It focused on the fact of Draynan blood. Wendy says it quite a few times when she's describing her own wounds.
It's like, it's, and I just feel like he's taken words out of it and thought, gosh, I can use this and embellish on this side of it. And that's how I took it, especially like I'm literally fresh out of a reading it. And there is some things that just cannot or would not physically work, especially how Kubrick was filming things. He did everything on a steady cam.
So the maze, the maze isn't in the book, but the head animals are, and the head animals are what attack Danny, that what, you know, freaked the jack out, which then attack. I keep calling him Scatman Brothers. It's not, it's not, but I just can't, I can't not call him Scatman Brothers. So it's, it would be very difficult for Kubrick to make something that's so real.
Like he has made such a real look in horror film. There's nothing fancy about it. So to then go and do something so far out of what he's just put on screen, it just wouldn't work. It wouldn't translate, but the maze, it's simple.
It's beautiful. And it's still kind of gets to find across. So I think that's where a lot of people have fallings with Stephen King's works when they're trying to transition it from book to movie, to try and keep it so fearful to the book that it's never going to work because Stephen King's fantasy world of Derry or his, his land or his stories. It's so convoluted, it's so detailed and to do it as a movie, you just want to be, if you did it that way, people will say we've just just basically done a Stephen King version.
There's you not done this talking, you in that. That's where like again, I think we've had a conversation about the podcast before, he's short stories for Stephen King, normally transition, but I'm saying like you think about Stan Byme, the Green Mile, Shawshan and stuff like that, where like movies on the like on the sides of like the shining people always like love it. What was the other one? It's like say it because it's in two parts, the first part everyone loves, second part everyone here.
So it's always for both movies as well. So it's always interesting book. I know again talking about this one, this is 1980 this film was KMMS. I watched it today in 4K and it stands up so well like picture wise like because a lot of 1980s films looks green, it looks like this up skills so perfectly and lovely to view.
But I remember when I watched this for the first time, I didn't, maybe Newman Stewart, I didn't think that they realised this was a movie because the way a channel four used to put it out, because the channel four used to put edgy films or like horror films on mostly, this was always a two-parter, it was always cutting half. So the first part was always on a Saturday night and then the second part was on a Sunday night and what a kick and a tip on a film that isn't that really long? It's actually quite long. Two and a half hours, so that's probably as well as a two and a half hours as well as I could.
I believe and again this is just going back to me, I think the cutting off point was the lady coming out the bath, that was where the cut. This is it, Maddy, yeah. Yeah, so yeah she can get in the fucking bin. She's got a fucking nightmare.
She's got a friend's up in the book in the fridge. It's just a fucking close. There was one night because I'm seeing it in my mounds and her lighting situation isn't the greatest to start with and it's quite dinnydig. There's certain parts of the room that are really dark and I'm like maybe we should just put this down for a bit and just leave it.
You mentioned that you've mentioned that you've seen Green Mild being a short story. I've just purchased it recently. That's a short story for Stephen King. Yes, well that's it.
Look at that. How many times can you fit that? That's ridiculous. Sorry, I picked them up when you were talking and I was like that's a short story.

Adaptable. That's the one I was mentioned. That was a short story. That was a short story.
That was in different seasons or something, wasn't it? Green Mild is actually really short. I've read the stamp. No, the Green Mild initially didn't start as a book.
It started. He used to write as a newspaper and he did them as a chapter a week because he got money for it. So maybe a quick classid is a short story if you're going to put it in the context of your newspaper. I did get a symmetry though.
Nice. Good last. Oh god, I read that one for 12. Can you bring absolute trauma trying to get a hold of that book?
I dragged Paul at the town for it and find it. Ended up getting it unbended because I refused to pay a third in quid for a book I knew that was £8. Anyways, I'm trying to... It's almost epic.
But yeah, I'm watching it again today and I've won them films where I've watched in the past. This isn't my favourite like Stephen King. I appreciate it more today just because I've concentrated on more because as you said it is a long movie. It's very long-winded.
There's a slow build for certain aspects but there's other aspects that kind of threw me when I've watched it again today. It's like things aren't really explained well because if you go right if you watch this and if you watch Dr. Sleep back to back the explanation in Dr. Sleep because I think because they have to like they explain the show so much better in that movie than they do in this.
It's kind of like Danny's kind of gone through things and with anything that happened in the early early early early early so it was like oh mental health is not a thing. It's just kids being kids who grew out of it all. They'll stop talking to an imaginary friend. That was kind of like the impression.
What was interesting for me is Jack Torrance's character that like his like what they say is the descent of madness. There was no descent as soon as he went in for the fucking job interview he was fucking touched from that point. There was no one else. Did you get in on him?
Did you just on him? Yeah. Because my impression of the movie when I was younger it was like the Simpsons and the period of everything. You see him go on crazy for a time and you think that's what I was expecting watching it again.
I'm going to enjoy Jack Jackson's performance in the going from normal happy-go-logi-jack to go on crazy-jack. No one I realised I was like no I was fucking nuts from the start. Which kind of threw us and you were expecting to go crazy and go crazy and go crazy. I think the crowd used the alcoholism as an excuse in or he did this and he's like his wife just sitting on paper and cracks over child abuse and child domestic abuse.
He's a tiny he hasn't a drink since. Or both of you guys even lies as well. He actually contradicts himself. He says that he's being a 3D-yo-sauber and when he's in the bar he actually says to five months sobriety.
So he lies. He hadn't been sobbing the entire time. The Jack Torrance that I met in the book was quite sympathetic and incredibly sympathetic. You could tell he tried so hard when he sobriety.
Like to the point where when he thought of alcohol or thought of the the need for a drink he would constantly dab his lips and to the point where there were cracked pieces because that's how much the addiction he had had a disease and he was trying his hardest for his family to overcome that and put the overlook and I love the fact that in the book and then what I said I wasn't going to talk about the book and I'm sorry but I love the fact in the book the overlook is a character. Every wall every feature every ghost everything that's in there is part of like this. It's an infrastructure that the minute they want Danny it's as simple as that they want Danny because you know Danny's got a shine but he's got a very powerful shine so you know how Dick works there and they've not really thought was done Dick. His shine doesn't shine as shinier than the more Danny's does.
And if you watch Dr. Sleep that is so much better but then Jack says so yeah the hotel wants Danny and there's a point in the book where he's standing it's where he's got the snorpile because Wendy's had enough like Wendy believes Danny 100 percent she knows that Tony is something other than imaginary French he knows everything that he's about her child to say there is the truth Wendy is so much stronger in the book than she has portrayed in the movie but Jack and then she talks Jack into leaving and he goes to the snorpile to go and sort it out to fill in to leave he knows Danny is telling the truth he knows Wendy is right he knows that if Jane was putting it from him right now he would take it in a heartbeat then the problem with Jack is he's so addicted to the addiction he doesn't want to leave he doesn't want to go he wants to stay there and that's why he destroys the snorpile yeah Danny knows that so it's hard I'm like in the book more now than I'm getting the chance to talk about it so I thank you the book the book is tremendous the book is up Stephen King and hats off to him he's good at what he does I'll be at sometimes like you know when it all kind of gets shocked about ending in burial grounds you know fucking Indian burial grounds as well as descriptions and things man he's talking about when Dick was getting into a taxi he talked about this fucking seatbelts and it's like is that necessary did I need you to know about the foxy belts? you know what a one bit detail where he really picks up on was it this guy lends him some gloves because he's not he's not getting out yeah he's not getting out because the thing is in the film you think why does this random man who doesn't seem to have much of a connection with Danny anyway who won a holy mission to see him whereas in the book it makes more sense why he does he has to have a bit more of a more indecompensation etc but it's just yeah it's highlighted how like treacherous go up there actually is and this guy yeah he gets these mittens up and he's like oh if you're gonna return them to us they're dressed in that number and you know what I got actually I got a little bit chorched he was like oh no the mittens won't be there was just that little bit of like oh I've lost the mittens I won't be able to send them back and I'm like oh you use them and I'm like oh you use them for a moment of cocktail they said they're gonna set the book and they said they're lying on fire like there's no there's a reason why their mittens were so important like to him describe with them because it's what he used to set the line of like oh no you won't be like oh no you won't be like oh no you won't be like you won't be like you won't be like you won't be like that's all right as in the movie they don't explain Danny and Dick's relationship like that is deep it's so deep like they're they're conversed with each other quite quickly after Dick leaves and it starts to get a little bit lost because obviously the hotel is kind of like getting mixed amongst Danny's and then when Danny releases everything and that's when you start screaming you need to get here and need you here now and that's when it hits it like a ball that he has to go like the urgency of having a ball was never explained no but from taking back it's like the start because as I said when we get like say the the movie it's a bustling hotel you know he's being kind of chaotic or off during the winter months because as the explainer it's the weather's too treacherous to get up for five months for the year so I don't know how many luxurious hotels can close down for five months for the year and still we're just gonna do my family in there so it's really bad by the guys but you know yeah so to me in my perception and like say again with like not reading the books I did for a while did it know what goes on in the hotel during these months so this is why they don't have people in and close it down because they don't want to have any more catastrophe so it's like almost like a human sacrifice to the hotel you know yeah massively they know exactly what's going on because Jack goes Jack's gonna write it he starts finding all this stuff about the hotel he like he pieces it all together this is why he's he gets so involved in it and he wants to write a book exposed in the overlook and he goes to one of the managers and it's like oh I just it goes it's up basically and this is this is the starting point of how Danny convinces Jack that he does really have this ability because Danny reiterates his whole conversation back to him the victim and he's like fuck did you know that and I think they definitely did know that that basically they were sacrificing these people to the hotel and there's a few things I don't know if you've noticed on your rewatch and there's and it's not done by clumsiness on it's not done by um really shit what's the word I'm looking for where anything goes in line I kind of company would eat and things that moved about in scene to scene certain parts where Jack's walking down one you find him walking down the corridor and it may move the camera that way and when it moves it back that way whatever was there before is now gone when the decoloring shows Wendy the freezer you know the freezer first he walks in the freezer and in the freezer you've got a window and you've got a table when he shifts the freezer door the gone right and then he moves on there's another door was next to the was that not just cubic trying to make it feel uncomfortable because he was a master for that that that's the thing yes it was it was making you that was his way of saying the hotel is not as it seems like that was how he was trying to portray it to people was I move and stuff about and because there's also two freezer doors as well so there's one that where Wendy shoves Jack into yes and another one because obviously we know that the course lets them out but there's people who are theorizing actually here's the other door in the end to get out but I don't know I dig how many people have walked this fucking film down but that's the thing that's why I was worried about like I was excited to talk about this movie but I didn't want to go into it because if you go online or if you go like every video about the shine people pick it apart to like to almost like there's nuts and balls to like it's been massive and again I can understand why there's so many different things the things I love about this movie and again it might sound weird is this is a two and a half hour movie with a such a small cast and it's so intense that the characters that in there you are so engrossed with like every one of them characters like I know you have to start you get a few with like hotel but again they're soon disappeared like the main majority of this movie you've got three people in this film you've got Jack you've got Wendy and you've got Danny then with the three things Danny goes on a ball where you trip like when he like very kidnapped he was anoian which was given his due his little Tommy voice was hilarious at times as well with his little finger and like see I know we've recently lost Shelley Devalle and so it's like and again rewatching her performance it's a very mixed performance again I'm not kind of sleir there's bits where like you think she's a me as in what she's doing but then when she goes in full meltdown ward when she's running on the thing I was like I was getting a flashback so pop back with olive oil running down and I was like oh god that's not a bad thing but she didn't do bike well I think I think she does I think she doesn't she can't strip it back so this you'll know if you know Shelley Devalle and her story of the shine and you know that she didn't have the greatest experience on this movie kurvik had it's a kurvik i'm a kurvik i think it's a kurvik kurvik kurvik that's what i'm saying i'm calling stan i'm calling stan he was he was because what he did she's has gone on record before she passed away and said that she learned a lot of life lessons it may not have been the greatest life lessons but she learned life lessons through this movie he put her he is very famous for retics he actually calls again as well as book records for the most retakes on one shot and it is scatman brothers and little poo with danny tarrins a little kid who played him 147 times and scatman cruthers burst into tears he was absolutely drained he made him cry he made shali deviled cry but you know who he didn't make cry picky yeah he loved him he had he absolutely loved him he couched him he took care of them he handpicked him and it wasn't all with the horror film either did he or and the main shoe and never knew it was a horror film they protected him so much during this movie yet he's that's not what people kind of focus on like i know and i know we shouldn't not discredit like what happened to shali deviled because it's pretty it's horrifying like it's not it's it's not nice to read about it but he he was so sweet to this little kid and and it's it's a different it's such a different contrast but yeah he was a dick with scatman prothers as well he didn't like that at all when i really watched the other shanks i think it's like it's shining i would have like said one of my favorite films me and adam in our courting years went to um screen age kicks where we all got dressed off class and watched it and it was getting like acted around us and stuff and it was absolutely amazing and we were watching it yes first of all very shocked that was too long i was like i was like i was like i was like in my head like replay in the back because not quite because it's not very much happens it's very long shots anything like it's i've got like a two-minute scene of jack niggleson sitting on a typewriter a thirty second scene waist on a tenor ball tennis ball against the wall and it's got a lot of long shots up with longing down the halls like that's where the time kind of eats up the actual interaction and the story nothing really like floors along quickly no i said that about the book as well and i was i was like i'm like right near the end and i was like god nothing's really happened and he was like what everything's happened yeah everything has happened because whatever has been described to you now is gonna pull out in these next few chapters and i was like oh shit now i have to remember everything that's just happened in that last few bits what how was jack vylen how was his mind what is he gonna break soon yeah but i just remember when i like re-watching it it was like um she leaves about who i love oh my god it was just me oh she is thick and thick shish like throughout the film and the relationship between her and jack and i'm just like if you didn't murder her in the hotel he was just want to murder her in his own hall because he was out on hinge and she was just like oh yes i do want to take down to the hospital and he was just like you want to take anything after that just like oh my god do you see what he's doing to you know he once you know followed this trap and it was it made me feel very uncomfortable um to see this this total abuse of power on jack nicholsonside uh to shelly povale um which which i think was just like it was the scales which is totally you know kind of like yeah because in the boog when something about her like when she takes no shit no she really doesn't matter there's a bit in the boog where the lift is a fucking nightmare for them and the lift literally comes alive one night and all three of them go and they're all sitting pissing around the lift door opens but they're like a little bit of a gap where they should be literally climbing but and they're all pissing around going well i'm not doing well i'm not she just goes fuck sick and she just gets up and climbs up and jack's going nothing's wrong it's a malfunction the lift's fine and then she starts chucking party streamers at him and goes you think that's fucking fine you think you think that's okay there's a few things in the move that through us um like where like as you said with the Shelley strength in this movie at all and i don't know what it sounds bad to say because you want a really strong woman there's and there's two elements to this i've really really irritated there's one where like Danny showed the strangle marks and she's really upset and jack's acting really weird and he's like you did this you're a son of a bitch you stay away from us and you think right she's taking them she's gone because he would and just because Danny said the woman did it and she goes back with the baseball bat and goes finds Jack and goes hi Jack i know it wasn't you um but there was a woman we need to get there and he's like fucking bitch like going off and but like that just changed like flip because you wouldn't like because it's like kind of your mother your band's been attacked and your first instance is to protect the band so either if the father's did it or some weird woman in the hotels in it you would be getting the fuck out of that hotel with your kids that and you wouldn't be taking them because again it's a safety risk because you don't know what who did it again me personally that would be the intelligent choice to do i wouldn't be going back to Danny's dollars as a woman upstairs in the scary room that no one's allowed to go in so now we have to believe him here it's sorry to hard back to the boog but that scene does actually take place in the boog where it plays out exactly the same but there is an element of so yeah Jack hit Danny that's the big thing actually Jack broke Danny's arm dislocated in their film doesn't it yeah yeah in the boogie broke Danny's arm and she has never forgiven him for it she always has one eye open when it comes to Jack and Danny's relationship so when that happens and he has the marks around his neck the first thing she does is goes what have you done he's done some of it she heard him and he literally has to get on his hands and knees and say it uniquely listen to reason i happen to be next to him like Danny in such a catastrophic state he can't speak and it does take a while for it to come round to where Jack has to convince that like there's a convince that he doesn't just like being unhinged about it or weird about it he genuinely has to convince it like i have not the fuck was that it was before i'm sorry i apologize i was cooking on the shiny thing and some scary sound call sorry what it sounded like a little girl it was on the grey twin side come and play with us and i love when space do the um the call back to that with the two girls it's about a job week yeah okay that's just scared to absolute shit you know what you're saying because in the movie it's basically Jack Nicholson's doing his impression of one floor over the ticker who's next he's sitting there it's like playing with his hair but even worse though like he's not even playing the he's playing he's playing the Danny the venor part from once over the kubus nest he's not even playing his part he's just he's just you are correct though like i'm going back over to me heading from the instant he walks in that hotel it literally has him how we willed are you that you walk into a door and that is literally got a hold of you because of progression in the boob it takes buck and age and he actually manages at the end to come out of it yeah to say to say sorry to Danny like he manages to become jack for just a second before the hotel takes him back again yeah because they're there for a few months aren't they well like yeah for a few months and in the film it's days i think in the in the movie it's of course two or three months later at the very start yeah if you blink if you blink if you miss it then everything else is over like i said but it would have been nice to see that transition to madness rather than just going okay i mean the hotel now i was sitting in the table don't fucking talk to me i don't want to fucking sandwich fuck off it was like oh yeah that was another thing the typewriter yeah anyone else knows it's a change color right no i it went from white to gray but it's like a really dark gray that the white one is cute stands er typewriter you're not sitting there you're doing it all the thing you're fine so in the the grayer one is to show jack's more dissent into madness that now the furniture is starting to join him also didn't know anyone knows the television that danny's watching doesn't have a plug i think with this movie as well because i know as we said it's a long movie there's a lot of things that happens but doesn't happen but visually like visually like everything like it's one of those ones where if you like a movie buff or just like a cinema file or i think that's what they call the soundtrack right down where you're there if you like it's not a video i don't know we're just watching but yeah but like that wrong the actual visual side like everything that's put it there as you said it's done for purpose but it's just astounding visually and it's like either there to upset you or make it feel uncomfortable or even get your excitancy on times as well like everything is just there and i kind of tingle your senses and the soundtrack in the background is just oh god it's like a heartbeat of the movie it's like yeah it's it's not as when it's when it's sloshed down so you can get comfortable it's major up and it can't even make a few false thoughts it's stunned so well and magically that's why i think it's a cubic is a masterful and it was like this with a artwork orange where the visuals and the music so you kind of went along and got you kind of hooked up again i'm not a fan of color orange i've a lot of people know me a little bit or hear it but i'm not a fan but i can appreciate like the artistry artistry behind it and the artistry i was just like i don't think the shining gets the credit it deserves for that. not in that respect i think they really do i think they really do go well king doesn't like it then we don't like a kind of thing and put the open and scene that is using clockwork orange also the scenery is used in blade runner and it's another film you've got used in blade runner you know or jordan peal took inspiration from it for get out at the beginning of get out and it's been used but the footage itself is actually in blade runner right okay it's going over He's intense. He's on the January. I would have preferred if they used an actor or someone else who kind of was a bit plain, a bit normal and seen him go into the descent of madness. Do you want to know who the original actor was?

Yeah, because if you look back, I know people are laughing at me suggesting this, but if you look back at Nicholas Cage, I know I always mention the cage, but if you look back his movie, leaving Las Vegas, it's heartbreaking.
It's just brutal of like addiction. But having someone like that, I know back then we wouldn't have Nicholas Cage doing it. But having someone who you think is normal is because when Jack was in full Jack, Nicholas and Moors and he's chasing Wendy down and you're seeing with the axe and the limp. It's absolutely breathtaking.
It's iconic. It's I'd say he is Johnny is one of the most iconic scenes in overuse scenes. And one of the most iconic, I didn't. It's one of the things I didn't want to use it in the graphic.
We use it. Because it's that overused and I think it would have been a distraction from the other stuff that we're doing. But having someone else do that again, to me, not just not a shit. I think it would be more interesting.
Yeah, because you don't just have to like you say you don't have the unhingeness straight away. It's like there has to be a progression build up to it. And Jack Nicholson isn't intense person from everything that he does. And the hate John there.

There's so much more out there. According to Tom Cruise, when he was doing Vanilla Sky, he was still editing this movie. He was still going in and doing edits to the shining. What the fuck does that say about the man and about the film?
Like, what has it done to him? I think it's because the story saw rich and so interesting. You can get lost in it so much as well. Because trying because it's hard to say it, tell us a simple story of it.
Because it is a simple core story, but yeah, that's in essence, but done with such like rich characters, like the characters in this. Even if you read the books or if you think you can't help, but enjoy the characters like Dick Hauer and his character is. Is lovely as Karen. It's you want nothing but good for these people as well.
And again, when you see little things, you want to know about the greedy twins or the greedy family, like doing a prequel to that would be again. Again, people go, oh, you can't. I want to say that. I wouldn't mind saying how they got turned to how he decided that he was going to trouble.
And again, what we are getting now and what a lot of things are coming out on is like streaming like TV shows, like a shining TV show would be perfect. Is that? Yeah, I'll miss that one. I'm sorry.
It's Stephen King's and it's apparently doesn't get about the same is very made for TV, but like made for TV in the 90s made for TV. But it's Stephen King who wrote the. Tell me not to stand up. Yes.

I'm not using that. And it was literally as close to the book as he possibly get. King now has a clause in because of that treatment that he got from him that he has to have first crack of the screenplay. If you can do any adaptation of his work.

the shine and because i mean i love both the film and the book but for totally different reasons i mean i like the shine and the film because it is a psychological horror with absolute supreme cinematography imagery symbolism you know absolutely fantastic whereas the book i see as a separate entity and it's just like rather than a horror i will call it a domestic drama to be honest because you get like it's something of a human human condition it's very and it's it's it's going so deep into somebody especially like on the addiction side of things because he really takes you on that journey of how he withholds himself how he's trying to do better and how he is sore it's not easy for jack to lekor and to give in it's a it's a journey for him and when he is well she is such a strong like she admits she is very much like her mother and her mother is how shelly develop is described in that's that's her mother that's not her and she was like i'm trying to stay away so far from her that i've become something so far out of reach they also wanted jack's family as well and how his dad was always talking nasty bastard the imagery of the table the mom yeah the gravy on the mom's glasses and it's smashed glasses and it was just like oh gosh a boog on human conditions and it's very it can almost become quite personal so i do get the whole difference between booger film but i'm not mad that kuberick went down the road or i like that road it was a good road yeah yeah do we always describe the movie and again this was if i'm going to put it in the most similar stones it's two and a half hours of waiting for a kettle to boil because it's just like if you're so fucking annoying but that's the thing you went to kind of happen because you're waiting for stirs and you see little bubbles but it's really giving you much and it goes back it calms down a little it's like if you kept it on simmer and you're simmered it for two and a half hours to get to the boiling point and when it boils it's exciting it's explosive it's actually packed but you've got to go through you've got to go through the whole basically the process of getting to that boiling point and it is a journey to do it and it and you're not mad when you get there because the effect at the end like the last 15 minutes is cinema history it's like it's magic yeah and the only thing again if i'm going to be over critical the only thing that spoils it is when you get the ending and you've got jack sitting there frozen with the most goofiest little bodies and it just kills the whole vibe or everything that you face though but the last two and a half hours it's like what the fuck it's the biggest fucking meme of the internet is that look on his face i actually prefer the books end into the overlook yes um because it it shows that jack wasn't just jack wasn't jack was clearly in there somewhere because he did the boiler every day without veal and this one day when i go to tip so he didn't do it and that's where and it's like somewhere i feel like somewhere in there jack was in there and had that as a safety net i do think i do think they hinted or wanted to go down that route for the movie and say might have changed because at the beginning the four shadows about the boiler there's a tenet in the boiler meeting everything so it's kind of like right because as i said when i read the book i was like we'll get there and they mentioned in the film you think oh shit there's going to be an explosion the boiler's going to go and it never kind of happens so it's either a director choice or a studio choice the wind right that's not how it ended it but i can't imagine kubic letting the studio dictate how he ends his movie which way he doesn't rather not make the movie then let's go and tell him how it ends up yeah i imagine he should have been going home yeah so i think it's his choice he's probably thought when reading the script out he's got a fail safe in there so if he wanted to go with the book ending but he's not going to give it's like been ending that bloody things jack kind of deserved but it's just a face he could have had him frozen not been peaceful or in pain but he just looked goofy but he just just that was his confidence it was like a teeth chattering i have an ice cube man you know that's where you can hear him that's where you can hear him like that noise but that could just be in my own hands like possibly that's like the visual aspect i know normally when we do these types i don't know like i don't know if he's got anything more you want to see about the movie but normally normally we do like a review like a review but i don't think we can do this with this movie because it's not really about saying oh it's a four out of five or a five or a five or a thing i think we're all on the same page with this it's an experience that i think every movie lover needs to go through to busy to see i've watched this journey you might not enjoy it but you can appreciate and love aspects like i enjoyed it this time watching it but i didn't get it when i was younger but i think that's because i wanted to be this really dark scary horror film that everyone keeps on telling us but it's not but when we're adults and you're watching back and you see the mental torture and the mental thing yeah it's scary and now then i would be in a teenager because when i'm a teenager i'm not thinking about like in those type of realms no we're looking at we're looking at colors and shapes and movements and you know if there's any fucking blood there then borness but my mother in law will always anytime the shining gets brought up the shining in the excess she fucking hits them and it's because of she washed the shining edge horn when it was on telly in the middle and the midst of the ids and she had to bring her daughter who was my sister-in-law downstairs as a baby to keep her company because she was that scared of it she walked out with a center of the excesses she always tells us that every time she sees me triune's she's like walked out with that yeah it's like two more films like kind of human condition films you know you know excesses are set in as you know to the hall like it's it's one's home and like a girl in a bedroom structure with beds and she's obsessed you know that's just like it's two it's two from close to home quite literally and this idea you know kind of you know it's really like an idyllic sort of place you're looking to have that all that you know for a win and it's just like you know getting back into writing and all this sort of stuff that means cause Jack's like oh god it's amazing and this idea that cabin fever is fucking real you know what to spend I mean I have come fever when the court was pandemic you know and I was stuck in the house with like the kids who were in the house you know what I mean and it's just like and I think like you say when you grow up you get greener around the edges you know like perspective change and things that's scarier a different you know suppose to someone like wiggling and you know like like you know like I actually find the rock mallet scarier in the book because that will fucking hurt you yeah the description will kill you quickly you know and that's the point you get out of it but that was the whole point was that yeah and especially the fact sorry I know read the book read the book I'm not gonna go into it read the book I just I do have one thing to say on the actual hotel itself it's called the Stanley Hotel if you want to go on you can actually go and stay at it it's where the inspiration for the book came from and when he stayed in room 217 but yeah Stanley Hotel and also this movie was shot in England right yeah I knew I didn't know what I did so it was yeah obviously there's parts of it which are the Colorado mountains can't get away from that and certain outside shots but inside it's all England and what was it used for afterwards they were no porn right is the last oh well same thing yeah the reason last time is the movie that's set it took over after the shine there's a last thing I know everything's happening right now but yeah not and again as I as a real it and just to go off as well because I know I'll quickly we'll say about the pandemic and stuff and just make sure think like what happened during the pandemic went through like that's the craziness and as I said we've recreated what we have and the friendships and everything that's kind of come from that as well which is again it's crazy mesmerizing like again recapturing friendships creating new friendships losing friendships a lot of the stuff has gone away I wouldn't change it for the world so it's me it's so weird me I don't
