I've been locked into watching every single of the more combat game. All right. So much that I've downloaded the previous two. I'm just grinding through them while I'm waiting for the new one to release.
Yeah. I'm just trying to keep diving straight into Mortal Kombat of what is coming next. Cool. I still remember a few of the fear families from Mortal Kombat one.
Luke who can say called it for blood button and so around. He did his spear wing kick. It wasn't until Mortal Kombat two that you got the dragon, I think. Yes.
This new one looks dead interesting though, because they've like destroyed the universe and they're going to start again. Like, so it's like a little bit similar, but like everything's a little bit different. Like a butterfly effect, if you just change the cultural different stories, obviously the entire story is different. It's all different perspectives.
So how do things could have gone? It's been really well. Everything that's been so valid, really interesting, quite fresh. Yeah.
Yeah, because like in the new one, like Luke Hangs the God and Raidens like the human now, they've kind of like switched roles, but it's like in Shao Kahn's not like a whole like leader yet. And it's like, so the kind of the touching on similar things, but they're going to obviously write a whole new storyline and stuff for the. It's cool. I'm loving the novelness of it is where the left often.
That is the end of the stories. We can become the gods and he's able to rewrite time. And you see it all these trailers, basically anyone else that we can kind of really bad future. Like you.
The bad sides of everything that no one's like big and powerful anymore. But it's looking great. I'm really looking forward to coming out. I wonder if they'll clean up the new one.

We only watched the first one. But that's all I've been doing. Honestly, I've been stuck in the living room with two kitties who would go super duper hyper and then fast asleep in seconds. So that sounds just like you.
I was like, first of energy and then all of a sudden, I was absolutely. Yeah. Well, I watched the final of Nathan and Fred last month and then Jeff didn't win. So I was very happy.
Sorry for spoilers, but Jeff's a bellend. Did he have to leave? Did he get attacked by bees? Before the final, I would like to call it a race, but it was more like a marathon where you had a trick 12 miles through South African deserts, like, neighbors were just the supplies that you've accrued for the last 40 days.
But they had a task where they had all the items taken away from them and they had a create fire, which is just using friction. And basically, it was like the first three people to create fire and you had three days to do it, but on each day, it pissed down. So all the wood was wet. All the stuff was wet.
And only two people out of six managed to create fire from friction, like using tech different type of Bible techniques. And then two people actually broke down from, because basically they're not eating the beers. They're just trying to create this fire, broke down crying. It brought them mentally and it was absolutely beautiful to watch.
Is this like a reality for us? Oh, yeah, it's on discovery. So you know what's awful, but I love the shit. But basically, it was like, why do you need it?
Why not? Yeah, because it's like ultimate survival. So it's like, you know, you can't get comfortable and sit down on anything because everything's all pointy. Make sure you can leave or something.

It goes into more detail and you see how nasty people can be when they're tired and hungry and they've been eating busy plants. And yeah, like, I saw this one where this guy had this probably like rant against the woman. Like, since she was like awful and how he was like the alpha bro thing. So she went like, because she was like, fuck this guy, I'm going to leave him one is old man.
And then the next day decides to like attack at these nets to try and get funny. And he's just stung all over. And he's like, oh yeah, we can't go home. It was just the best like we've ever seen on television.
There's one where this wifey went absolutely budget crazy and threw all the equipment that we're using into the water. And she was like, fuck you guys. Wow. And to bring it down a little bit as well, I watched the Netflix TV show, playing color about Oxy cotton pandemic in America.
It was basically a dramatization with Matthew Broderick and a few crazy eyes from the origin black is absolutely brilliant in this as well. But what it is the person and hard to watch. It is one of the scariest, like this shit actually happened. And if you want to see what addiction can be in prescription drugs, it is a great thing to watch.
It's only six episodes, but after each episode, it was one of the hardest things I've watched in a while. I do want to watch. I'm seeing Matthew Broderick back and everyone against what he did. Well, that's just Hollywood anyway though.

So that's fine. Yes. So this week's episode, the thing one that we've counted about doing for quite a long time. We have mentioned in passing the X men and more to do with the films and probably the cartoon, but we haven't really went into it in too much detail.
I know as soon as we did mention that we wanted to do an X men episode, there was quite a large number of people who wanted to come on and talk about the X men, which surprised me as well. I didn't think the X men were as big as you seem to be. Because in relative, when it comes to comics and stuff, I know we've had lots of different iterations. This is still a newish comic book in comic book terms, if it makes sense.
Because it did make its debut in September of 1963. It does feel like it is an older comic. If you think about Batman and Superman and stuff like that, or even Spider-Man, you do feel like the X men has always been around them. But to me, 1963 in the 60s is still a relatively new comic in my eyes.
60 years old because it's the same young young dad were born. I'm not that brave to know math, but yeah. So it was co-created by, well, are we co-created by Jack Kirby and Stanley? I don't know.
Because it's another Stanley performance where he said, that's a good idea. I'm going to steal it. I didn't know. I'll start that rumor again.
Because he did not create Spider-Man. I don't care what people say. No, no. No, no.
It gets fairly well known that he was just a bit of the salesman type of guy. He would take the ideas and he would sell it. And then he was like, yeah, this is mine. Yeah, I have a lot of respect for Stanley in certain aspects of media and how he got out the media of it.
But when it comes to the creation, he was very much a Bob Kean on the whole thing. And he was like, no, no, it's mine. It's mine. Fuck you.
Fuck you. I think when he got his older days, he realised that he was in the stakes of his own staff giving credits. It was getting out. A lot of people weren't getting the credit.
Just like I said, a lot of budding artists out there. Be careful what you signed over for or what information you give up. It's nice being a comic book artist. It's not getting out there.
But you don't want to lose what is yours. And it's happened to so many different cartoon artists and cartoonists in the past that it is quite sad and scary at times when you hear the stories. The list is never-ending. Absolutely never-ending, especially in comic books.
But I didn't know what Stanley had much to do with it because when it comes to X-Men, the first person I think of is Chris Claremont. Yeah, so is it the first person? Yeah, Chris Claremont wrote there as the first person I always think of. It was like the birth of the X-Men.
You can say I'm wrong, but that's where my- What do you know about the book? It's definitely- People tried to be the greatest era of the X-Men. Really all your biggest fun-loved characters came from his writing. And there was a point where he had to be left.
He would have to keep up with every comic and characters like Robl. He just stopped being a thing in the comics for a while because no one would have to write rather than him. A lot of other characters were left behind as well once he left. Huge thing.

But yeah, like he goes to see them and like he's like, oh, I need help with my mutation. He's like, I don't want to like hurt the people I love. And they're like, hey, pal, it's not a mutation. It's like, like, this isn't like a bad thing.
And he's just like, oh, great. Like every time Spider-Man helps everyone then one time for any health, like, and nobody like, and it just swings away and they're like, maybe we should have helped Spider-Man. But it's like, it's awesome. Because you get to see a little side of like, like, Peter Parker being like, like, I really need help and like the one time he like asks her.
He doesn't get it. And I just like, that just stuck with me. He has like a bad experience with X-Men. It's always interesting.
All the mutation, like stuff. I love all that angle. And I know it's like, like, it's got like massive history, but yeah, that would have been the first time I saw that kind of thing. Yeah.
And I promise for a lot of kids as well. That was ever like, I was, I was, I was going to say that we use the word sheltered as a kid, like, especially growing up in the like the North East and stuff. You weren't in a, say Sean too much of like, um, like the wrongs in the world, I think. What's, um, I said the X-Men was probably a lot of kids, like, especially the card and was gateway into segregation and basically trading people who were different, a different way and how they addressed it as well.
That was always like, quite strong, especially in the card rooms. There was no way to go get around it. But I think they did it with the first episode of the card and where basically Jubilee's being attacked by the sentals and stuff. And it's like the government to start, like, start the newt and act and like it's starting to soar in the seeds.
But, yeah, why about you, Sam, what was your first experience into the X-Men? Mine was the cartoon, definitely. But I didn't, it didn't hit bells with us. Like, it did with most people.
I was more for the fantastic full cartoon. But hey, we're on the ever-sticks. I know, I know, and I've learned from them mistakes. But they didn't resonate with us at all.
Like, I wasn't, and they should have in so many ways they should have. It wasn't until I met my husband. The first conversation we ever had was about the X-Men. We were walking to a shop at seven o'clock in the morning.
We'd been out all night. We were walking, you didn't know, I was here. No, I haven't even asked. I needed some water.
But yeah, we were shopping at a first conversation about the X-Men and I realized that and then I was like, I'm going to end up with you all night. You just won't be nervous. Sixteen years later. I'm going to end up with you, not like saying, this is the man I'm going to marry.
This is the man I'm going to spend the rest of my life with. Oh, I'm stuck with you. Nobody did it. It was later on in life when I decided to start reading comics that all my love was the first one that I ever read.
It doesn't have it. It has a backstory of the X-Men running through it. It's not, but it's not, sorry, but that was my kind of gateway. I'm still not quite there with the X-Men.
I still don't have this huge love for it because I don't, if I had it back when I was a kid, then maybe it might have been different now. Yeah. That makes sense. Well, you go, Carol Danvers has a big role with a lot of the X-Men as well.
You do. Yes. Miss Marvel. As Jessica's character stole a lot of the power show we see.
Yeah, thanks. That's interesting because like at the cartoon, it really just thrust you in the middle. Like Paul, you've already mentioned like Sentinels. That's like deep in X-Men like lore.
You don't go straight into Sentinels and like Carol Danvers like power taking. Because that was weird when the flip back to the origin story and I'm like, what role can't fly in half-super strength? Like I'm not really sure. Because they're just like through you in like right in the middle.
But that's always the next thing. It's weird for the broke things. There's been things this. So it's all the doom.
The forever thing of Marvel in their rights and who has rights to what? When you get something like thinking first X-Men movie. And because it's quite the get-throughs, we never seen Rogue in full blown Rogue. It's never happened yet.
And it's all the way because it's never had the rights to Carol Danvers to ever be able to do the story. Yeah, right. Okay. We've always had a kind of lackluster or a more simplified role until maybe 2025.

I was like, there's a cartoon. I was a cartoon. People of the film recognize the card. They did a couple of video games on the game queue, which is why you got to play through the stories and build the characters and stuff.
And then all the time it went from there and then onwards. It was kind of like, these are my superheroes. I'm invested. This is.

I thought it was games. I had loads of cool stuff where it had character bio so you could read about them because it had a lot of characters in and you met a lot of villains very quickly. But it had those little bio's where you could read about that. That's who that is.
That's the first comic that appeared in. I always loved when they did stuff like that in the Marvel games. It was really cool. I've got a game queue again now and still a type of trans-source all those games.
The graphics will be terrible. I probably hate it. I think that's the only way though because people love those games but they can't remake them because of what you were saying about like licensed stuff like the can't get. Because there was Marvel Ultimate Alliance afterwards as well.

But it was pretty much just X-Men Streets of the game. And for some reason we favored characters to play the game. And I was obsessed with this game. I was obsessed with this game.

I like Colossus because he used to do that thing where he'd be like, brah. And everything would explode. Which has nothing to do with the whole game. So I would say that I'd want to go to the ice ring or I'd want to go swimming on the weekend.
So it was extra pocket money. And I would go to the legislature and appear in. You couldn't just walk into the legislature. You had to appear in entry.
Which is bullshit. Couple of those in your dicks. But yes, instead of paying the goal, ice skating and paying the goal. Like the swimming baths.
I used to go downstairs and put all the money. It was the Times Square. It was like 25 pence or 20 pence a goal. None of this £1.50 a goal.
So you just did like to try and complete. And for some reason, well, not it was always on extra hard levels because they want to take more of your money. You don't want to just complete the games. But I just start falling in love with these characters.
And as just said, when I found out there was a cartoon. Like, say I was obsessed with watching the cartoon. And as I was getting older and joined the cartoon for other reasons. Because it was probably the most graphic drawn cartoon.

I think you can watch it. It's got a crappy theme song. It's in there as well. Talk about the cartoon as well.
It basically does take the best story arcs from the comics and just puts them into the show and fits them in nicely. But as you said, the voice acting is hilarious at times. Like when you get introduced to storm she turns it into like an interstitial. I am storm got a sort of wind and power and like and rocks like down in our state.
And like it's hilarious like the levels of the go to like some of the characters in the along that gambit is perfect. Rogue Southern Bell Wolverine's hilarious in it. I want to ask as well because everyone's got a favorite character like probably has changed when they got younger because when we first get into juice, for some reason everyone always gravitates towards Wolverine because he's a grubby gnarly guy. But as you get older and you start enjoying like say the characters a little bit more, I was wondering which character is your favorite.
