I have a little bit because I came home on Wednesday and I haven't been watching anything because I just couldn't see any mums telling you I'm that blind and she hasn't that far away. We watched the first episode of House Dragon, we just watched the first one because I've been working literally all weekend, didn't even have a Friday off this week. I'm angry. Yes, we watched the first episode of House of Dragon and I absolutely loved it.
I think I wasn't not going to love it. If anyone knows me and my love of Game of Thrones, I just loved it. We also watched Thor last night. Did he hate it?
He did that. He thought it was very fun. It was just very easy watch. It was just nothing too overcomplicated.

Yes. That's one thing I wanted to ask you guys before we get into the top fives because I know when we do get into top fives, it goes on and we do get quite emotional and quite intuitive towards them as well. What would you describe as a B movie? Because in my eyes, that definition has changed rapidly and quite a lot since the incarnation of the B movie, I think.
Yeah. We had a really interesting, because I brought this to my family, I think with my family, I brought this to my family because I'm not going to lie. I struggled with it. I generally thought this was going to be an easy one for me, given the strike that I like.
But I was bordering on cult on everything I was picking. And I'm like, we've done cult, I don't want to go down that route. And me, future brother-in-law pointed out, B movie is something that is, that it's got heart, it's got soul, but it just didn't have that budget to really project it into big high-end filament, but it still had a heart and soul behind it. One of my picks definitely doesn't have that, but I kind of see where it was coming from.
So it made us rethink a few of me picks. Yeah, with me, it's a similar type of thing. So I know, like I said, the definition is like the use of the double feature was the one before the main event type thing we used to come. It was a law budget, poorly acted, very fantastical.
We used to do like these weird budgets, strange out there things. For me as well, through the years, that's kind of morph. The budgets, to be fair, sometimes it can stay at the law, but I think still think we can have the high budget B movies when the realms of the subject matter is so far out there and so crazy that it shouldn't work, but it kind of does at the same time. So the budget for me now, these days, isn't what makes a B movie, it's more the idea and behind it.
But again, that's just my viewpoint. I know there's probably a million people standing behind us going, no, you're wrong. That's not what a B movie is. But I think the evolution of the B movie, because you still get the same trauma pick, the trauma studios that make the same things, you can go back to the 50s and 60s when they used to make them, even before that, when they used to have mini cartoons.
Technically, when they used to have Batman on before, in the mission, that could have been classed as like a B movie, or the B aspect. But it's just, I think a lot of people, as again, try and keep seeing all this has to be in this box, but like cult movies or anything that we've discussed in the past, when we've had the discussion, because I know one of the first 30 episodes we did when your friend Carolyn, the lovely Carolyn came on, we had a little bit of a disagreement because we'll see this sign on the dance of the horror film, and now we've been a poll about horror movies and some of the choices are on that poll. People say that's not a horror movie, but who is anyone to class what a horror movie or not? If it's got aspects of horror or aspects of like what can class as a horror, anything can fit in that box and that's what I'm kind of learning now and it's kind of broadening horizon of it.
So I'm kind of quite excited to do these type of things now. Yeah, Gary, especially that argument, we had all signs of the lambs and then aliens propped in at some point. But I do get what you mean, like, who is to see it, what is what, if there is aspects in there, then to you, that's a horror film, like some things that we wouldn't like, when you've put the witches in the horror category, I don't see it that way. Tell you what, if you're not scared of that movie, it's something wrong with you.
Well, we do know that there's something wrong with us, but you know, no, I totally get what you mean. This can be very interesting. I'm actually really excited because Gran's on and I was saying to me, sister, who should be joining us in the chat, I'm going to say, Gran will come up with some wonderful ones. I'm telling you, yeah, I'm going to say, Gran always seems to be always a hard act to follow, so I'm going to be a bit mean to make me go last.
That's what you get for being some good, Gran's. Well, yeah, I'm going to kick us off. I'm sorry, I don't know what to say, but what do you like, Gran, what's your views on? Like what would you class like as a V movie or what in your eyes?
Like, would you say it? Man, in thinking about this, I went down a little bit for Philosophical Hall and thinking like if, you know, something that was originally a V movie, but became more popular than the feature it was supposed to be supporting. You know, did it cease to be a V movie at the point of reception? Is it to do with budgets?
Much the same as what you've said about how it's evolved. You know what I mean? A lot of straight to TV movies or straight to VHS movies in the 80s would maybe fall in, would be category without being the old school equivalent. And to a certain degree, straight streaming movies, but even now, movies come straight streaming, I wouldn't regard as V movies.
You know, they're very much up there for the budgets and the production and the casting and the writing and all the rest of it. This is definitely a subjective one. I think everybody's got their own slight views to what would be classed as a V movie. So arguments are all in the chat.

The Rock B Horror Picture Show is my number one at first pick. I don't think you would ever get, as I said, if you said put in a box for cult classic, it would tick that box and budget.
It certainly got grilled. No, it's not the biggest one, but. The only thing it does have going for it is the stars. The people that's in this, like, like Susan surrounding the actors, went on, like probably that the start of the Korea's, went on to do quite big things.
But like even the whole premise like transvestite from outer space, coming to seduce every motherfucker that's around. And again, like, I'm quite heterosexual, but I was almost turned by the way, Tim Curry, as soon as he walked out that elevator, like I said, walking something into his, I was always happy with it. I was not all about that, we're all friends. Yeah, exactly.
Tim Curry in this movie, anybody that says they wouldn't is a fucking liar. Well, I am incredibly straight and Susan surrounding, could definitely turn my head. Definitely 100% damage, Janet. Exactly.
I didn't put this in my top five because, and I know we've got, because in the early days, we were like, I'm not putting this in the top five because maybe you'll fit into the category. I think we'll really pass that now. But I always, to me, it's a musical. But again, it's that conversation.
Like, for me, it fits more musical than it does anything else. But I really should look at the fact that, yeah, it doesn't have a big budget. Yeah, it is really like done on a shoestring. It comes from, it comes from gritty, like, on stage performances.
Like, why would this not fit the B-movie category for me? And then pick it. Like, say it's about transvestites and space. So, and, like- Sorry, a sweet transvestite.
Yes. And I always, like I said, magenta, patrisa queen was my absolute goddess. Like, I had a crush on her. Like, ever since I say that movie, I even turn into a small, like boy, just like giga, and say like how beautiful she is in this movie as well.

She was at a convention, not long ago that I was at, and I was working with Carolyn. And she was, they have like all the famous people at the back row. And patrisa just standing there with nobody there. And I was like inside dying.
Like, I'd seen her a couple of weeks beforehand in the La Vara. And I could not get anywhere near it. It was a big massive Rocky Horror reunion. Like, whoever could be there was there.
And I could not get anywhere near it. Instead of like going over and like bursting my heart out of this woman, of like how much you mentor as a young girl. Instead, I just walk past the moon. Right.

And that was it. And I was like, oh, I was so hot. I was sweating. It's very well.
What I do, absolutely adore about this movie as well. Like I just said, it's a great musical. Because sometimes when you get a musical, or like films that can rely on the music, there's always like a duff song or a song that you can like skip. There's not one bad track in this movie as well.
From start to finish, like see I adore literally everything and I'm tapping your foot. And like as you saw before we went live, as soon as I put like double bass on, I was like trying to not stop myself from singing away and like shooting the waiter at. And like I say, my favorite song in the thing is the maybe one like when Eddie comes out, whatever happened to said, you know, I did. Oh, my favorite song is about Eddie.

So when it was released, it was like a mid-name out near that grew. And then the stage reductions, I kind of grew from it from there.
But it's kind of like the little engine that could, if it could, it just started out and it became a complete juggernaut now worldwide. The stage show doesn't get quite at night. It sells out every time. How many years ago since it was done, what was it, 1975?

I think I've seen the Nicholson version more recently than I've seen the regular roundest one. But even then, it's been a few years. Literally, the only thing I can remember is the fact that there's a plant in it. I've obviously, I know about the film, but I've got very little recollection of it.
Other than the song suddenly Seymour, a lot of little flashes, probably about 10 or 11. Last time I watched it, so I agree with what you've said in relation to it being in here. It's got B-movie aesthetic, even if it doesn't have B-movie budget, so it definitely belongs. Yeah, that's what I was hoping for.
But again, it's a difficult one because everyone's got so ingrained in what they believe or think, like, categories, stuff, stuff, things. A lot of people would have been throwing all the drama films down the thing, but most of the ones that you, I think my argument might be not my case, I couldn't watch it through and watch many trauma films. These days, because it's not my cup of tea. But there's so many different aspects, especially with the modern-day special effects.
Now, most people can do great special effects on iPhones and stuff now, and it'd be better than anything that they could do back in the day. But is that still classes of B-movie and stuff? I had to include this because when we did the top fives, and like, I knew it was this week, I thought, what would our classes top five? B-movie and what would I call, say, my top five are pretty much well in the place within, like, say, 10 minutes?
That's very rough. Normally, I swap and change, but these haven't kind of, like, budgeted around. But, yeah, so I kind of jumped ahead. So, Grant, you've got two goals.
Yeah, Grant, you've got my first pick, if you're in Transtiz. Was Plan 9 from out space? Yeah, I got from most of that before we internet got out. I think we can probably cancel over my first pick because the comedy time of launching this in here is completely gone because I was going to pitch in 2007 and animate the movie with Jerry Sandfeld and Ray Zalwiger.

No, we need that. So, it's a sell-off on the B-movie now, you've got to do it. It's genius, mate. The B's find out that they're being exploited by humanity to make honey.
So, they stop making honey and try to sue the human race for all of the honey that we've stolen off them over the years. And then the entire ecosystem of the world collapses. So, the B's have to fucking strap back into the flight suits and go out and pollinate the world. It's fucking magnificent.
It sounds like it. I've never heard this. One of the full little animated tribute to capitalism, you know, the workers stop working and the entire world comes to an end. So, we get a good little worker and get back out there and make us some money.
Very much the same with that. I'll give you that one. It's one of the overlooked sort of animated movies. It's kind of a little bit of a cult status in recent years with what those video came out on YouTube.
And every time the word B is said in B-movie, the speed of the video doubles and it's over in something like 23 seconds or something like that. But, yeah, it's done well. It's got a decent cast. You've got Patrick Warburton in there doing some of the voices who everybody recognizes as the same as Joel from Family Guy.
John Goodman's in there with a good few of them. You've got Matthew Broderick playing the sidekick. And it's one of them that flew under the radar with Dreamworks and Pixar and all the rest of it. I had to watch it on repeat about 10 years ago because Jacob fell in love with it as a toddler.
And all you wanted to watch was the B-movie. So, I've seen this movie more times than I can ever possibly mention. I think this was the vehicle for Jerry Seinfeld, the movie with on the TV show Seinfeld and coming to movies. But it didn't work out as well as the whole type thing.
But I can say that premise of just having Jerry Seinfeld as a B just didn't. I'm lucky enough to not have kids to put me through the trauma of watching these movies. Same thing, yeah. Anyway, the moment was lost.
