Hello everyone and welcome to the nerdy of North Podcast, the nerdy podcast hosted by two Northern North and one of your hosts Sam. And on the other host poll. And today is a special one. I'm really looking forward to today.
We've got no news, we're just getting straight into it because I do think this would be lengthy, I believe. I agree, yeah, like I say with both big fans of what we're going to be discussing. And I should not but it probably did have a lot of bases on our both of our channels. Massively.
And we will get into that because I have there, it all stems my chai. I even know the moment where it all started as well. And I'll talk about that later. But today's top five is top five horror movies, but no slasher films.
Yes, and the definition of that was quite difficult to comprehend because when you think of horror films, you think of all the different supernatural and different elements. And but when you base it down, killer chases the victims with blades or knives and that in my eyes would always be cast as a slasher. Yep. And that's what made this list incredibly difficult.
I don't know if that was the point. The list has been hard. The toys one was probably the easiest one for me. But this one probably changed more than the others.
Just because I say every time you think about one, there's a new one that comes. And then what do you base it on? Do they sound the ones that scared you the most? The ones you enjoy the most?
All the ones that you can watch again. So I'll base mine on what I could watch again and what I have watched a million times. And so the easy watch is where I can go back to and that's what I've based it on because if I started going into other ones, we could be here all day. Because I have not at this, but it's very rare that I find a horror film that I cannot not enjoy.
And I tend to find something out of everyone that I've watched recently, even the newest horror films and that I've kind of enjoyed. It's really, it's a very rare thing that I don't enjoy some form of horror. Nick's a big horror fan than me, but she loves the gory and the nasty where I'm more psychological and like what you don't show me will scare me more than what you do. Show me type of thing.
I think when it comes to like this, other films like the Saw films got a bit too much, which was like the first one. And the others then was a bit more. You just brought it back to it. I actually saw saw too with you anyway.
It was a Thursday night. We were out in chambers. It was foreign. So we went and sing the cinema times and went and caught saw too instead.
It was literally about nine o'clock at night. We were so bored. So we just went over to the cinema over the road found the three saw to was starting. So we all just jumped in there.
Great. I love it. It's a surprise at all. Like when we sit on a nighttime, you think there's something to watch.
I'll go over to your fancy watching. She never knows what she wants to watch for then. So I'll put a horror on. Like what we're seeing in the 15 times is when it comes to October, that's like our month.
We do. We're going to be in the horror of every night and we'll find find stuff. We're new, but there's all classics and stuff that we would always go back to. Yeah.
So horror has been massive in my life since I was about eight years old. And it's the one thing that's been consistent. Like I've nothing all get it. Like nothing will overcome these love superhero and star wars and stuff like that.
But outside of that, horror is. Do not just see I'm type aspect though, because I see that the superheroes, it's the heroes with the superpowers, but with it's like kind of like the reverse now. And like the horrors are like other nasties with the powers and people overturning them. That's why I always think horror and superheroes are even like sci-fi and stuff like that, go hand in hand because they've always got that type of element.
I see what you're trying to do there. I see what you're trying to do there. So we're going to get into top five horror films that are known slashes. And do you want to go first?
I'll let you because I'm in first last week and this is your right, your jam. So we say, OK, OK, so I don't really know why to start because there is a few where I'm like, so I think I'll start with this one. It's 2013. It is a franchise.
Right. And this is the starting point of the franchise directed by James Wan. Right. OK, let's see what you go.
The Conjuring. I absolutely love this universe apart from apart from fucking Annabelle. Right. So I love the way they use Annabelle in this.
Did you just clap? I did clap. That is the one bit that really freaks out absolutely freaks me out. Don't like it.
That was the biggest jump scare when I first watched it and the clap behind us. You know, a screen. No, that was the little elements in that phone that I actually loved. But go back to what you said about Annabelle.
And again, I'm not a big fan of Annabelle films. I know those people want to be friends, who absolutely loves Annabelle. She's got the doll and she puts it on her. She's got the actual doll that was made in the film as well, like one of the extra ones, but she puts it on a window, she moves it so when people walk past the get the shock.
That is amazing. It's not that I don't, I actually enjoy the Annabelle. The, I didn't write this down because I didn't think I'd be talking about it much. It was the origin of Annabelle, whether in the farmhouse.
I did really enjoy that one. What I don't like about Annabelle is her herself. Right. So the look of her and it's not because she, I mean, just creepy, but the point of Annabelle was that she was a regular doll.
Yeah, that was creepy. Just that in itself, that is terrifying. So you use that? And if you use it, it seems like a big change.
But why make our look demonic when it doesn't, it didn't make any sense to us. I hate the look of a, I hate the look even more when I realized that when I, because when I used to have me, me little gots here, I had no eyebrows and used to draw them in and we love to see them. It was over to the collection of Annabelle. Exactly.
I kept looking at it going, it was time to grow my eyebrows back in. And if it was a regular dandel, I think it would have had a completely different effect, but I absolutely loved the condor. It's the real story of the parent family and the horn of their road island farmhouse. And I just loved it.
I know people didn't like the idea of it was Ed and Marine Warren because there's a lot of people not fans of Ed and Marine Warren, but they just asked them as characters and they're like, the not, it's not them. It's the character version of them. It's like them to the extreme because when you say foreigners of the original Ed and Marine Warren, like, say they couldn't. Yeah.
And if I, or any action scenes, there wouldn't be a much use. So we say, no, they really are. And they really were punching with like Patrick Wilson playing Lauren Ed Warren because you're in a passion on the real version. But the, I just, I love, I just love the, the start.
I enjoyed the conjure and two, even though I know if I'm well that the Warrens had very little to do with Enviel Horn. But it's still just a part of the universe. And you've got the new one coming out in a couple of months ago. I'm quite interested in that one.
I was going to say for a week's time, it's not a few months time, isn't it? No, it's a response. And it's it. Yeah.
Oh, well, it wasn't too far off. And but yeah, the conjuring, I really, I really enjoy them. It is something I can go back to. And I can watch regularly and still get that spooky feeling from it.
I do thoroughly enjoy them. And with me list, I tried to take from different areas and different time periods of horror so it's not all clumped together. So this was kind of like my early, early horror. And as much as this, all the ones I could have picked from, this one just stood out to us more just because the amount of time that I actually watched it.
Yeah, I've got like, I'll admit, nearly go into my top five purely for the same reasons that you've talked about. Things that kind of knocked it down, but the things that kind of dragged it out a bit was I've said that I know about all this was probably more creepy if you use the original watch also the make up for the witch. I didn't think it looked a bit too cartoony and too special effects. I used it a little bit more realistic.
I get the ideas in the city a little bit more rather than go as a robbery and stuff. That was that was Peter and Todra in between the two, but I've only ever seen the first in cities. I've not watched the rest of them. And so that's why I didn't choose it.
But I thoroughly do enjoy it. I think Patre Wilson fits into the horror genre perfectly because he saw his life with it. Yeah, he's very like all those well. He very much is and Vera Vera.
I've got an I can't say farming for me. I'm saying that right. I don't know. I'm not going to say.
We know about that. Well, she is I think she is such a great actress to start. She was brilliant in Bates Motel. Yes.
And I'm like a sister as well. Now really look forward to the known. I was I was really going forward to that. And I don't know if it was the cinema we were about because it's happened twice to as well.
I was there. I couldn't see it. It was so dark that I couldn't actually make out on the only other time it's happened. The same cinema was with with us all when it was the dark.
I could not make anything else. It's not my eyes. It's terrible. But I can make images out.
I just could not say anything and it really ruined the forest. That's one of the films I've never. It's very bad when I finished the film, but the no. I exactly were very bored with it.
I was very wrong. But going back to the Condor and the one of the things I loved about as well, I know the probably will redo it at some point. It had a very Amityville feel through as well. The whole possessed house and stuff.
The anime they were at one of their cases is Ananiville. And I don't know if they lifted up because the dude, the parent family is a real story. And when I was doing a bit of research, I generally couldn't find anything. They said Edinburgh and Warren were there.
They really couldn't. They got looked in a bit of PJ that they'd had their case systems. And Amityville was on there, but nothing about this. And also the one that the next films based on.
And but I know what you mean, like obviously the house element of it. But Amityville was it. He is, I chose my words, care for that. The tea is out of his, I'm not really not interested in the supernatural aspects of Amityville.
Or I'm more interested in the murders that your place there. Yeah. Like that's interesting, but not the supernatural part of it. It makes it look like a massive pass.
But going back to what you said as well about the jump scares and the Condor and the don't overuse it in the user well. Like the whole class. One is very good doing that. The whole class, except.
That still scares us now. Just like when you watch it. What's the next of like one thing that you want to risk with when you do films like that, when you use a lot of child actors, a lot of the child actors can become annoying. And like you don't really relate to them.
Like it's horrible. No, it doesn't. What the bad joke is a prime example. I get taken out with that film so many times because I want to punch like in the face.
I think that's the premise of the. I think that's why it's minute. Yeah, but I see a good country is one of my all time favourite horror films. Like Nick's not as as loving as me because I think she she gets a bit bored by it.
But I say it's one act and watch or I like the genre of it and where it fits in within horror. Because if we could talk about slashes, it's the same kind of thing with screen. But I'm going to save that for another time because I will go to another list and go to another list. I think I will talk about it a little bit much.
Might be one or two different. I think that would be quite identical. Right. So there we go.
Number one for me is the Condor and you want to go on? Yes, I'm going to go a little bit different with this one. Not many people will see it as a horror film, but to me, I was one of the most scariest villains. I watched as a kid and I still get scared by watching it now.
Raw dolls, the witches. Wow, and not what I thought you were going to see. I thought I'd throw you a little one. Now the cast with this back then was brilliant.
Angelica Houston had Raw doll and I'll go to Raw and Atkinson in as well. Yes. And I'd say anything about the kid actors who do get nerves, the little kid who plays Luke is endearing. He's not annoying at all.
He's grand mother is. She doesn't listen to him when he gets a nope. But the whole premise of it is that these women around the world have had kids and looking to have made them disappear in cruel and unusual ways. Like I said, the whole opinion, Jesus, that whole opinion that terrified me is that I would not go near.
Because we mean, I'd rather have it, I can't make it on the wall, not the same one. But I would not go near that thing in case I saw a little person who was on there. That would sort of age and change and stuff. But it's like say little things like that, terrified us and when they got changed to the mouse.
And I'd say everything getting changed with Angelica Houston was terrifying. And when she took that, like the first mask off and you saw the actual face of the grand eye, which that was, I'd say to me, I'd say, I still got nightmares about that. She was terrifying, but I secretly wanted to get changed into a mouse. Right.
Okay. Same thing as the fun part of the game. Yes, because didn't he not have the ghost house from ghost sisters? Yeah, I did.
And the film, I like a track that went through it. So again, going back to the cast, the grand high wists second command. Jane Horroix has been in so many iconic British TV shows like Ab Fab and stuff like that. And she's a little bit of a guy, doesn't she?
Yes, but she was great as well because he always felt a little bit sorry for her and she turned into a nice witch. It was always her kind of term. But when you even say the witches are poison and they'll get round, they'll get a little fat kid apart number is near now. But when you think back, this film was made, that's how it was made, which was 1990.
So you think it would have been, I was thinking about this being older, like when the 80s type thing, but no, I was quite not old. But like say I was probably around about eight nine or ten when I watched this and I still think. I know exactly how old you'll be. You would have been nine.
I've got a date and I've got a date written down on how old I was at that year. Yeah. Yeah. I did the whole aspect on the premise.
I think it's I don't know because it's probably classed as a kid's film, but I still think it's a horror film in my opinion. Really interesting choice, especially when you when you take a lasher out of horror genre, which for me takes up nearly about 70% of what I love in horror. That is a really interesting choice. I really like that.
Really different. I thought about these really hard. You have. I feel like I'm more prepared to do it.
That's a lot of that's really good. I like that. He cuts. That's what I think I said.
I went for films across with what scared us the most and what I've enjoyed the most as well. And that one I watched the remake as well. Don't bother. It's right.
I don't like that. But that's some of the CGI takes away what some of the practical effects again, where I think we'll have this discussion a long time ago. If you're a podcast, I will. If you're a podcast, I will.
Regarding my CSCGITX, I will have it a little bit more where the effects give you a bit more fails. And when he's changing, and the fact that's going to be his name now, that we'll show you. I know your name. It changes to the disgust in most and stuff.
And you see the smoke, the steam and like it's having a fit. It's all puppetry, isn't it? And the makeup as well. And you're like Houston, that's for the time incredible.
Do you know who gets the makeup? No, I don't want to. I'll be surprised that Jim Henson did another thing. I'll do it with it.
The first name I came to me head was because I love horror makeup. And the first person who came to me head was Sarah Rebecca. It's because of the moulds around the front, which made us think, but hang on, which is makeup artist? Because I'll be really interested to know who did that makeup artist.
Oh, okay. Oh, right, okay. Nigel Boo, I know that name. And Christine Beverage.
I never heard of her. She was a key makeup artist, but I have heard of Nigel Boo. Ah, it's Nigel Boo, did the prosthetics. Right.
And she did the makeup. All right. Okay. I am especially in horror movies, fascinating to like out of it.
Like ever since I remember when we first went to Florida and you'll know this, the horror movie makeup show. Yes. That's an anniversary to do. The other word, lifestyle, what, like all the whole part of it.
It's comes with me. Yes. It's comes with me. And ever since I saw that, I was about the first time I went to Florida I was 15 and I was just obsessed, like absolutely obsessed.
Like if I didn't love horror then, I'd say it's certainly, I was in love at that point because it really fascinated the life of it. I've read like all of it comes to me and it comes to me, meaning books and like I find an article is on Rick Baker, I'll watch any, that's so fascinated by horror movement makeup. I'm like the Florida and saw that. It was a TV show I'm sure.
It was called Face Off. Yeah. You guys don't want it as well. Who's watched it now and I'm showing you how to make some of the stuff that you have to do is to, I wouldn't like it be in the prosthetics to.
This is going to lead into my main, my last one that I'm making my main one because of how much I love it. But the reason it's not totally the reason I start watching it. But it certainly made us look at them very differently as the West right? Yeah.
I was on the show as well. Yeah. Yeah. He's the nice.
They are the nice Westmores, but there are some very bad Westmores. And if you know what I'm referring to, you're going to know what my number one top spot is. But yeah, it kind of made me turn my nose a little bit at that program. However, did start watching it again from the beginning recently.
I just love it. I really do love it. I am so fascinated because my hands, whenever they get to do something creative, just turn to mush, like the don't work. I haven't any head that I can do these amazing things.
And then when these bad boys get into play, it's a blow. Everything goes not the way it's meant to. I can't create and we put things together, but I just love watching people do it. I think it's so fascinating.
It's the same like Ink Master and stuff. I got the same type of genre. I think we are the people. I watched Ink Master.
Fully I watched it right up to the point where it just started, it started to get a bit repetitive. And I know that's ridiculous because it's the same concept throughout, but I just, I felt the critics and everything was just a bit more. I heard this last week. I'm just going to be sick.
But David Navarro is harsh. So the reason why I stayed here, I stayed involved in it. So we'll move on nicely to you. Number two.
Okay. So I mean, number two is going to talk about the practical lesson. And 92 directed by the Amazon. I'm saying that right.

Nelson. Heather. And the little boy is Oliver Robbins. It is one of the best, the best.
The best. I just absolutely adore this film so much. And probably more just because of the historical story. Sorry.
It's very scary. It's got all the practical. Everything's done practically. And the best.
It's got a lot of people. And the best. Even from the room, the bed's been in everything is practical. It's all practical.
Yeah. And the fact that it's also got a curse next to it. What more can you ask for in a movie? It has everything in the.
It's probably one of the other than the Xs. One of the films that has been. Lampooned. Shall we see it?
So much. I think the Simpsons done it. Family guys done it. Actually, I think everyone's took a reference of all the film.
I'm going to go a bit controversial. I did love this film. I enjoyed it. I see it.
I thought because I had the whole creature guy with it. Really quite freaky. That's actually on me. No one says.
Obviously you can't talk about. You can't talk about the guys I talked about the person. The person really is around obviously the. I took place.
You've got Heather O'Rourke who died at the age of 12. Yeah. I've been wrongly diagnosed. I can't remember what it was, but you saw her.
You saw her. She was heavily on steroids at the time. That's all. Fucked out and she was just so cool.
She died shortly after that. But also the murder of Dominique Dunn. The Dominic was murdered by her ex partner. and outside of a house, the split open, it was a very possessive person, this little apparently came to say goodbye to a, took her out of the house and strangled her in a front door, so then actually there's another actor, Miguel, I'm gonna be certain about it even right down even that didn't take note of it.
He was in the house at the time and he thought that we're having a struggle. And went to go and ring the police and then he screamed for it and said that he's dead, but I read it and she is the daughter of Dominic Dunn. Right. And her brother is, oh my gosh, Griffin Dunn, and the American well-woven Paris.
Right. That's all never made. It was no American well-woven Paris, it didn't happen. What was it called?
No, no, it didn't happen, but it stopped out, it didn't happen. It didn't happen. It was a brilliant film, but the second one was not good. Can you remember my wedding birthday?
Can you remember my wedding? It went back nearly 20 years now, so. I'm not getting birthday, there's about maybe 18 of us piled into my room and ended up watching that American well-woven London. That's what we ended up watching, because it was freezing outside.
That's what I did over 18. That's what I see it up your window. I was in 19. I remember that one.
Yeah, that was really nice. I'll apologize to your mum the next year, that was never good. That was so funny. But also, I read a really interesting article from her that Dominic Dunn, and it was his side of everything, and it was so sad, and quite uplifting, how he was able to continue on.
She was so important to him. Like she had his name, and it was just so sad. But there's also the other two cast members who died in public rights too, which one of them was the preacher guy. And I see I've never seen public rights too.
I'm very funny when it comes to sequels. And I've never seen an ex-situ. Even though I've heard it's absolutely brilliant. I've never seen it.
I'm trying to remember the exes too. I can't remember the third one. Because apparently there was a serial killer in it. I've seen it was that right?
Was that right? That's the first one. So when she's being examined, when she's being examined. Sorry.
The guy who was an examiner in a disability real killer. Yeah, I remember. But I see her going back to the public, I see her bringing the cast was great. And it's interesting when you say about the curses, because you don't really hear any other, any normal films, like a Disney film being cursed and stuff, it's almost around about like a horror film.
So you have to say, when actual where these curses, and all those bad things that do happen. But you always hear about these curses. I think it's a good ploy to get people to get in person. It's definitely, I mean, the fact that they used real skeletons.
It's props, like that's fantastic. But it has some of the best lines in that. Creating Nelson when he absolutely chews the scenery over. You left the headstones, but you never took the bodies.
It's one of the greatest scenes ever. I actually recorded so anytime I watch it, so I can just rewatch that because he screams why at the end. It's so good. I love it so much.
But pull the guys is my number three. I've got a snap, Neil. I will talk. Number two.

I found that last night. So you'll probably already know about it. I put pictures of what I was watching. I remember I remember this afternoon, man.
And that ingoasts. Wow. Now they have a real after a minute of the story from a very long time ago. It is a very cheesy film at times, but the whole premise are things really good.
I think I was wrong with people the other day. If they made a TV show out of a horror film, this would be perfect for a TV show. Because based on the 12, I think of the right words. Now it's not, you know, the 12 different symbols of the black zodiac.
That's the one. The black zodiac. So that's like the juggernaut, the juggle, like the princess, the way the deliverance stuff. And basically this rich, it's always the rich megalomian.
You know, has this idea of how to build this machine to take over the world. It's called the Oculus, where it's basically it's called like hell's, hell's eye. And you let them say anything that's happening in the past, anything that's happening in the future. And basically he's trapping these ghosts and moving them into this house that's made of glass, it's got curses all over it.
And when the capture, I got the start, the caption, the last course that they needed. So juggernaut, the big fog off monster, that's just was a serial killer that I liked before. But they make a joke of it saying, oh, I thought he only killed nine people when I put what the sentence is, he's got about 50 bodies here. And he says, no, that's the numbers he killed when he's alive, he's the ones he's taken after he's died.
Matthew Leilard's in it's from Scream Fiend. And he's been a psychic who he thought his performance in Scream was good. He's absolutely amazing in this. And like say, he touched him, he's getting all your history and stuff and all your pain.
And he's very eccentric. And he doesn't know why Cyrus is capturing these ghosts. And when the capture, the big one Cyrus has killed. And then his house has given to his nephew.
Arthur, who was played by the guy who used to be in Monk. Do you remember the TV show Monk? It was like a detective cop show in the 90s. And he dabbies a lot.
But he's basically given this house for these kids, because he's lost his wife, like, tragically, a few months earlier. And he's basically going to this house. And it's absolutely beautiful. Like say a glass house, everything you would ever wish for.
It's like everything that he hasn't put. I've used to often, one of the ghosts gets released. Now, ungust, absolutely. I'm thinking that.
I've got Shannen Elizabeth, I was American Pie in as well. Yeah, I think I've seen this. Yeah. It's got a big cheesy in, where it's like, a hero saves the day and stuff like that.
But it's fun. It's like a haunted house film. That's the thing. Like, if you went to like, Z different Florida, during Halloween, Overnight, you went on one of the meters.
This would be what that film is. It's the only turn, there's a different thing. Now, it's not what our classes are brilliant film or the best film. It's just what our classes entertain it.
And you can watch it and never get bored. Exactly. And this is why we have conversations like this, because it's how the film makes you feel. Not how you think you should enjoy it, because that's what the reviews have said.
You should enjoy it. And I'm a dickhead for always checking rotten tomatoes. Every time I watch a film, I always check a rotten tomatoes. It does not even impair on my thought process when it comes down to what the film I've just watched.
But I always go to see what the score is. I don't know why. I don't know. I do so much.
But she wants them to put a bad review. She'll always want to watch it just because she's right. I'll tell her that she'll not enjoy it. One of my picks is actually 20% of rotten tomatoes.
Right. OK. That's a good one. That's a good one.
That's a good one. Don't smile highly anyway when it comes down to it. No, unless it's Oscar winning one with Get Out, which I didn't put on me this evening. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I didn't put on me this because I've only ever watched it once. And I don't feel like I can talk about something that I've always seen because I have a terrible memory and have to watch things over and over again. But I do believe I've watched 13 goals, but probably in the early 20s. Yes.
No, no. That's one of the reasons I like it as well. It's a reminder of when I watch it. And like 90 teenage was a little bit older on the pictures seen it with my friends.
And I wouldn't say it's scary, but it's entertaining. That's the thing. But like I said, the effects they use with the ghost as well, a lot of the makeup is, I just had practical effects and it's done to a degree where it's done really well. And the whole idea of like, you can't see the ghost all around us.
What does he specks doesn't put on? And then you can see them. So anyone who's wearing these specks can see these ghosts or the passing the glasses around each other and stuff. But it's just like, I think it's got a like a belief factor to the film as well that you can't help but like it.
Yeah. I mean, Matthew the large thing. Yes. That doesn't matter what he does.
I just thoroughly enjoy watching him. He's such a character. I feel like he probably gets into it like from like, he's a standout star in Scream for Me. Scream is nothing if Matthew the large is not in it.
And even what was it? Oh, she's all that. He gets her left for me. He's hilarious in that.
But he's really, what's the way I'm looking for? I don't think a character I feel like. I'm trying to fulfill my love. I mean, it was a dead man on campus first.
One of the, I find Matthew the large is not in there. It's, you know, it's, it's him from scary movie. The one, there's another one as well where he's in the scimitite film. Maybe, you know, wrong but I'll find out for you.
I'll see what it's called. Yeah. Exh, and this he is absolutely brilliant. Like, say, these mannerisms, exe, just a big stage, but being a bit of a freak as well.
And, as you know, with your Scream when he gets emotional, spitting everything flies out, it's always entertaining to watch. But I can still remember it. Do you know he's in Scream 2? He's in Scream 2.
Yeah. Like for a second. So he was with, he was with, with, with, with, Campbell, with the film in Scream 2. And he was on second one day and there is a, there is a scene where she's, I think she's on a balcony and you can see a bunch of students walking below her.
He's one of the students. Right. He's actually just like a walk in, walk in person across the screen and I thought that was sore at clever. I've watched hundreds of documentaries on Scream.
I just love it. It is. And because it's a slasher, I couldn't put it in here. No, it's, exe, to be honest, if it was a slasher one's, I think when we do, because we're, exe, we can't have this, this podcast and not talk about like the screens and stuff.
I think with, oh, exe, we're top five. We're going to be pretty much going to be, I'm going to be in the car, we're going to be in the car. Exactly. And this is why you've got to, you've got to change it up a bit.
You've got to do like, yes, a slasher, but there's got to be some particular element that you take out of it. So a certain film would be taken out of the equation and it's trying to be clever enough to think of those things. We're going back to Denmark on campus. Me and Ann always go, you're bringing back Lee.

So number three, I'm going to go with the one that I kind of headed, I didn't quite hesitate on putting it in the list, but I thought if we did another list that was all that I won, I wouldn't be able to put it in there. So, but then I thought it's still one of my favourites. It's 1987. It's lost boys.
Right. So I've got that one on my list as well. Oh, okay. So we can have a bit of a chat about it.
So I did not know this, but I did obviously know this, but I totally forgot the Joel Schruemacher guy last year. Did that? I don't know about that. Yeah.
June last year. How could you not love this film? It had everything. It had like say teenage angst.
It had romance. It had a key for Sullen does it really cool van. I don't want it to be. The best molar schorn.
Yeah. I think some of the best things were in that film, I'd say, even if it was a nook, nook, the dog, I absolutely docked the dog. Oh, because he's the last bit of Malamour, she was like, well, me and I first got together, we're all going to get a dog and it's going to be a nook from lost boys. And now that we've got to pass that's never going to happen.
You can also get a white cat next to call it nook. Oh, hey, if Beatrice, my girl cat wasn't the biggest bitch warden. And when it comes to other cats, because Baxter's being her mum, how eight years now, she's still not forgiven us for him being home. So if she wasn't the way she was with other cats, we would have a house full.
We love having cats in the house with Beatrice, which makes it so difficult. I was really that scared of all the cats. So that's why I got Salem, where they were home after two weeks, so she just wouldn't come out from under the bed. Oh, she's the most kind of lady I make, but she's lovely.
That is one thing. That is one thing we've not mentioned on here. We are actually related. Those cats.
Yes. So cats Ruby and Baxter are brother and sister. And when we went to go and see Baxter, when I first, because it was Nick, got down for Nick, if she didn't Texas to say that Rachel lost me number and I've given you her your number, I wouldn't have had Baxter. So it was Nicole who saved the day and gave Rachel my number.
So I could go and pick the cat up. But we went to go and visit to me, my mum came with us and Ruby, who she wasn't Ruby. She was petty. Yeah, that was the original name.
But Nick does that change after a week, I think. I tell him that's Nicole's cat penny and me mum, I'm just telling love with her. She was the only talk she was the only talk she was the only one there. But we're trying to get another topic of love.
It had to happen one time where cats came into the room. We've had a episode of five now, isn't it? So you have been cat-free since it's been alright. We lost boys.
I can't remember that's normally when it's a film I'd say I love. I can remember when I first watched it, but I can't remember the first time I watched it lost boys. I can always watch Nick. Yeah, that's the same here.
But I do remember the first time I introduced it to my nephews. So my youngest nephew who turned 16 on Thursday, he loves horror. So he likes my kind of horror. He likes the slashes.
My middle nephew, he likes more supernatural. So he loves all that he watches a lot of ghostly stuff. My eldest nephew, he was like 22. He doesn't get as much involved as the other two.
But I remember sitting down with the other two and watching lost boys and I looked just in love just like, I didn't, wasn't really that interested. But Luke just absolutely loved it. Just watching his face. Watching it for the first time.
I was like, I wish I could remember when I actually saw it. But I had the great pleasure of making half the cast in 2019. I got to meet Jason Patrick, who was incredibly shy. For somebody who was sat in a sign and table incredibly shy.
Alex Winter, who was a proper chatty, chatty Nancy, he was lovely. And the guy who played the saxophone, Tim Capallo, who was the naphs already said and unable to make this guy of the world. Just sort of like one of the frog brothers. And Jameson, I actually swear she's named that for some reason because I didn't think it was important to have it on me.
Sorry. He was he was lovely. I think he does a podcast and I was with Carolyn's brother and he was chattin away. There was really chatty.
Nice people didn't make the whole thing uncomfortable. He obviously has a private, private section, which I did not pay for. But Carolyn did. She got to go and do the photograph.
And then they did like a big group photograph with everyone there. It was it was lovely. And just reminds us why I absolutely loved the film in the best place. And there are a few people who weren't there, obviously, and Corey here, which is just incredibly sad.
And Corey Feldman was not there. And I believe that is due to the difficulty of Corey Feldman in conventions. It's not the easiest person to get into conventions. Is he not like a trouble banister?
It would not surprise me. It would not surprise me. But all the living lost boys were there. And then I was like, I am wasted.
We still waste. I don't know. But going back to I would love to. I think I don't know if I would like to meet.
So I would like to get some sign by him, of course, but I'd be terrified if he was an asshole, just simply because like the films he was in when my childhood would destroy you kill. I would not be able to watch films like Stand By Me again. That would just be flat line as well. And just break as if he wasn't open today.
But going back to the actual film, Lost Boys. This was probably the first film that the soundtrack had an impact on us as well. Because I love music. Don't get as wrong.
I'm okay. Music is the big part of it. But I wasn't really that bothered about it. When I was younger, it was more of the films.
I heard the soundtrack to Lost Boys. Like the doors and stuff like that. And just that. Just give it a give a response.
Because it's the first time I thought I could hear the soundtrack and I would know the films. Yeah. Yeah. Still believe that is on my aunt's playlist because it's such a good fucking song.
Like it's probably like, it sounds ridiculous. But when I hear it, I feel like hot, I feel like hot, so I'm a dear. Because that's how I can picture when it's playing on the film. Like it's the end of the night.
It's like, I was describing it without sounding weird. It feels like the 80s. Like if you want to describe anything to do with the 80s, it was her, that old rock. I'm sorry.
But like long bullets, leather jackets, earrings. A little bit guidelines as well. But it's like, it is necessary. The story is basic.
It's basically good versus neighborhood. But I'm stupid. I didn't get the twist. I didn't guess the twist.
I normally I'm guess the twist now. It's called the Lost Boys. It's based on JM Barry's Peter Pan. It's because of the premise of it comes from, which is why I always thought it was really in take on the actual, and the Lost Boys and I love it.
I want to live in Santa Carla. It's not something I want to vote. I don't care. It just looks like a lot of fun.
But isn't it something I couldn't find out? It's Santa Carla, a real place. It's not, is it? Because it was filmed in Santa Cruz.
