Hey everyone and welcome to another episode of the Nerdy of North podcast, the Nerdy podcast was to find Northern Nerds and Mona your horse Sam. And I'm the horse of all, I've got my name slightly there. I'm from the horse, as we joined by Team Postcast Emma and Kelly. Nice.
So, return of the mech, but yes. So today's episode is going to be a bit fun. Let's see, a lot of people have been wanting to get involved with this one and do this one for a while. It's top five movie soundtracks, which again, mainly quite nervous and excited at the same time, because a lot of people do get quite passionate about, makes it there, what they love about the music soundtracks and music can make or break a film, as we found out with a lot of films that came out.
As we found out with Justice League, let's just put that one up there. We know you've got issues with Justice League, go on. It's not even top five, that's the damn show. Yes.
So I'm just getting the adult one on the tube now before we go, like Kelly speaks. So... So... It smells like a toilet, man.
So that's all done there? Well done. Just before we saw it as well, just to give a big shout out to the Nerdy of North community and group, we have reached 4,300 members this week. So it's still grown and it's still thing.
And we did go first message to do a shout out on the podcast. I'm surprised not many people have done this yet, because we're so big and popular and stuff. So we had a member there called Kim, who's part of... I would say...
What was it? I can't say it. Cheelating, yes. She's part of her cheerleading team and walls end.
That's open up for other people. So the website, it's called CatalystAllStars. The website is www.catalystallStars.co.uk. It says it can be found on social media as well.
It does do classes offered for recreational competition for ages up to five to seven. Adult recognition and dances for eight plus. So it could be a good way to keep it. Might be able to bring it on and start getting all bitchy and shit, but it could be fun.
Yes, get the pom poms on. So if you're interested in that type of thing, I know Kelly likes to roll up the end, but I can say a bit of a pom pom go as well. It's a pom go as well. It's a pom go as well.
Yes. So today, next year, with it being the first time we've been in the top five in a few weeks as well after the double episode last week. So I guess it's nice to be familiar with what I've done about you. I did find this one a little bit difficult.
I did stop and change a few times. So I thought you were Kelly. I have had a day to day of trouble and change and tell him about changing this. I changed this.
I got to give myself rules and I gave myself strict rules and I decided that I wasn't going to include musicals. And I wasn't going to include original scores because I could literally go on forever. Yeah. Yeah.
For 20 years. Yeah. How are you all nice? Exactly.
We'll get grand when it's on soon. I'm like, what do you think as well about you? Just shout out to everyone who's in the chat. Now you're trying everyone.
And I think our esteemed leader wants to go first this time. Yeah, because everyone took my picks last time. So I went to the hot. He took it here, chapped her at my boot, took off my number of bets.
Normally, as well as share the image of the podcast, I'm going to be about during the day. But I'm going to be quite a big spoiler if I did. So I'm leaving that to when the next goes live. So I'm going to start with this one.
It's a pick I've already picked before. So I'll get the ball rolling and it's one of my all time favourite films. And the music and it makes the film and is just perfect. So I'm going to start off singing as well.
So fuck yes. So you don't need money. You don't need to be the credit card. Right, there's training.
So yes, back to the future is my topic. Number one, straight up there. Get in there because I thought someone might have asked what I figured. But absolutely amazing soundtrack.
It's got places like the power of love. QE QA. It's an actual song from back to the future. Back to the future.
We're going to call back to the future. We're all the others as well. We're trying to think of now, we're on in minds when completely brown. So I'm trying to get the list of that.
So it's like, yes. Yeah, like from the start and finish, when you listen to the songs, you can't help it. Do you think of the songs as well? Even when I'm trying to be good playing with Am I Got Jeff Fox's Blast No Way on the guitar?
And Dan's No Way. And I say I'm all for the 50s. I know we couldn't pick music. I didn't pick music.
I was like, I'm a so Greece couldn't be in the picks unfortunately. So this was as close as Greece as I could get. I think. Yes, I would agree with that.
Yeah. It was quite a good mixture of 60s and 80s music as well throughout. Oh, definitely. Definitely.
It was going to have the two decades, you know, like the type of the modern, modern, modern music. It was like, we're getting really 40 years. Sure. It's going to happen in the 50s and stuff.
Oh, it's absolutely not. She's like best of all, as well. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Paralleluv was my winsong. As I was a left as I left him, that was my winsong. Oh, just a winsong.
Yeah, like back to the future. I mean, let's face it with back to the future as well. You haven't just got your main songs, like, you know, here we live with some news. You've also got your background songs.
Like a lot of, you know, Michael Jackson, Bigg and the other. Yeah. Yeah. But again, I don't really think of the other thing.
I know that we see with the trilogy as well. I don't think that their soundtrack, again, could be wrong, had much of an impact. So it was kind of like just rehashing the same ones. I don't know.
Because in Backstage of Three didn't have ZZ Talk. It's like the band. You're true. Yeah.
The festival. I can't remember that at all. I know I reach a goal for you. I've got to show it for a couple of minutes.
So I'll go for the trilogy then. So back to future two, kind of just using the same premise. I was like, within the Jaws of Hall 3D 16 or something. That was quite amazing.
My favourite out of the trilogy is two. I love it. I absolutely love when they go into the future. The future.
The future. The future. Yeah. Now the past.
I've got to confuse it now. I say the same time frames now. I've got to say, when we got past the point where it went in the future and we didn't have other boards. What car that fly?
No, what's my plan? No, but Reebok did bring his trainers out. The days. That was the only thing that came out of 2015 from about the future.
Reebok brought the trainers out. They cost a lot of money though. They weren't changed for one. No.
They put that to it. They sold you. So that's my first pick. Who wants to go next?
I'll let you fight your mom. You used to fight your mom. I want to go next. That was no big fight.
My first pick and again I put myself down with a swarm in your rolls and it was really difficult. My first pick is Baby Driver. It has got Kevin Spacey and I know there's a little bit of controversy. One person out of many of them.
Exactly. Both with classics on it. on it like like baby driver by Simon Garfunkel, you know, Brighton, Brighton Rock by Queen, you've got the Commodore's Easy, you've even got a fantastic cover of that song by a girl called Sky for is it Ferrere, Ferrere or something like that and it's just, I mean, from start to finish that the sound, it is the film is the soundtrack. Yeah, I've never seen it but I've heard that.
No, it's brilliant. It's brilliant. Well, in my opinion, it's a brilliant soundtrack and it's a brilliant soundtrack. It's a right director.
I think it was an Edgar Wright director film because it was a film we did after Han-Man that's why he left controversial and he went and did that. Did that? But I know Charlotte was one of Charlotte's picks, I think. Yes, it was.
And any film that can use Hocus Pocus by Focus is just, honestly, it's just kind of like the best drag and song ever and it's sure that in the film, like it's brilliant. I've never actually seen it. I know about it. It's always on the radar.
I think with a lot of films it got released but I don't think it got a similar release. It wasn't like a big day or made of it. At first time I heard of it was when it came on Sky. I think again, I might be wrong.
Could be called Bullshit here. But I think it came at the same time as Drive. So kind of Drive kind of over shadowed with the not just one person makes a film or not one person makes. I think there's a lot of people that's punished in them because of one person's.
Would you not watch Miramax movies because of this? Yeah, I'd probably not. You'd miss half of the cinematic world. I don't know if I had one person.
It's not. F You've got your bit of Motown in there. You've got B.A.B.Y by Carla Thomas as part of the soundtrack. And then you've got a bit of your classic rock like Queen and Radar Love and things like that.
And then again, you've got your prog rock by Hope, Hope is Focus, Focus, Focus, Focus. And which honestly is the best song ever. Not even the song, best music ever. I just think it's funny that you thought all of our picks were going to pick the same as you.
But you didn't pick the film. We haven't thought in one. That's the first one. I went for the outside.
Just watch my face. Watch my face when she goes to pick the next one. She's got it. Oh.
Yeah. It's a good subject. So we're going to the lovely Carrie. So have you been there for a minute?
No, no. Are you doing the dancing for us yet? Yeah. I'm going to see the Steven being young.
Pretty much five. It's a kind of the movie or something. It's a pretty self. The Lost Boys.
Oh, yeah. Oh, very well. We can jointly talk about it because it's on my list. I don't mind.
It's not on mine. I don't know why. But it's not on mine. I don't have to go on this.
Exactly. This was when I was just like, oh shall I sort of went in? I went in. I was like, no, no, actually it needs to be on this list.
I'm going to threesome doing this one as well. Oh, I remember. Oh, mate. Run for it.
Yeah, so I'm on camera. Never been done before. Really? There was rumors of video tape to go to the bathroom.
It was just like, we're not talking about that. Oh, just me vomiting in the burger bar. It's trying to pass it off as like, oh, that was you. I apologize for ruining your shoes.
Anyway, so I remember we had it on Acceptive that we recorded from someone who could afford to get the album. And we put it on the tape deck with the two tapes, the vinyl bit, you know, that big box. Yes. Yeah.
The best repair engine that you had on. Yeah. And I remember it was on a black cassette tape. And I'm from somebody about to pop up.
They sort of put a pair of things to cry and do not accept it. Accept when you need to listen to this soundtrack. And I actually had watched the film age five and six, but they in the sort of era that we are, we always watched films that we weren't meant to watch really. And it still turned out with, you know, well-rounded people and stuff.
I think it prepared us for their own life. I think. I don't know. I don't know.
I'm glad we saw the well-rounded book. Come on. Remember, I used to pass over to some of the scary bits. One chiefly, it would be the couple in the car that used to really freak me out.
That particular death when I was like five, I was like, oh, fast forward that. Let's get the vampire bits. So it really like time to feel my love for like vampires. Rhysms, which is, you know, I love coffee and things like that.
But I remember I used to listen to it on, we did have a walkman and we like walked dude, you know, like a cheap man. Yes. And I used to formulate dance routines. Oh, it turned out to the last voice.
So I've got some working songs on there to do it too. No. Absolutely, class. Because it was going to be, I want it to be in a golf band.
Right. Yeah, you'll go. So this is really promising. It's still going to have a color, let's go on the one.
Never give up on your dreams. And I remember this is proffer, hilarity. And we had a talent show at school and I went to a Catholic school, very, a Mormon Catholic school. And I said, see a little prayer tonight to the born class.
Brilliant. Five minutes long, standard there, instrumentally given this. You are the cubist. I'm not one of the voices.
Oh, this song doesn't have any words. That was a dozen minutes. Yeah, but yeah, similar to me, like, as I've been in the 80s film, I absolutely adore this. It is the film I watch when I'm feeling a bit sick.
I don't know why I always think it's a change. I've put the soundtrack. I know why you always get wrong as well. So I always get mixed up with the doors, because I think it was the doors version of people's.
No. I think I made a poster that would be for when Kev ready to ward this off. It is all up to this right now, but that's the first time I'm learning of it too. I thought it was the doors as well.
No, it's not the doors version of the Bunny Man. Yeah. I knew this. Oh, cash all bit in the middle.
Do do do do do do do. No, strange do. Do do do do do. It's a good comeback.
Yes. Oh, that's what I say. The vocals, you don't really tell too much difference. It sounds very dorzzeses, if that makes sense.
Nighting of words now. Yeah, those actually reminds me. Yeah. One of the things that I've written next, is that your beauty has her way, where it's like kind of stark, you know, fair ground and that.
You see, oh my God, my God, look at her. And she's like, oh, look at me, I'm like a gypsy. I always thought that was fucking David Bowie. Really?
No, I get where you're coming from. Yeah, and then I realized it's this man that just wants to be David Bowie. Yeah, it's just like, I think the past five years, I think it's a bi-bank called Mummy Coles. Mummy Coles.
I mean, let's face it. The best thing about the Lost Boys contract is it makes you appreciate the wonder that is the saxophone. Yeah, it's too good for you. It's not really.
It's not really. The nicest guy I have actually met the man, he is the nicest man in the world. I saw him play it still, I believe, live. It was absolutely phenomenal.
We went to the Love Horror in 2019, it was a Lost Boys reunion, I got to make the majority of Lost Boys. It was amazing. It was absolutely amazing. It was a big embedded.
I did it. I did it. You fucking bitch. I stood right in front of him.
While Carolyn's brother got, he had this amazing comic book, Lost Boys comic book, and he was getting it all signed by everyone. I stood directly in front of him while Gary was talking away about how he meant the 90s were. I'm just like, I did exactly the same when I stood in front of him, who played Michael, was interested in all of them. Did you support the Patrick?
Yeah, he's a very shy man. He's still very, very pretty. Very handsome, but very shy. And the Tim Capello is so well-known.
I know what I like to know about you. Oh, all of that. He was just like, good Tim Capello is just so welcome in that you couldn't help but talk to him. Like he asked how we were and how like, you know, did we travel far to come here and he was just a lovely, lovely, lovely, And just seeing him play with the same get up on, might I add?
As he did in Lost Boys. I'm like a get up there on there. I was like, don't worry girls. I'm not kidding me for all tonight.
So that's my favorite song. I will promise some, some topless. That's a bonus. It's not a bonus.
It's not a bonus. It's not a bonus. It's not a bonus. It was great.
I love that song. I have a movie soundtrack that just definitely nonstop when I'm driving. And every song from Lost Boys is in there. So this is why it couldn't not be on the list.
Lost in the Shadow was getting started. Every other day I can possibly get that song stuck on my head. It's just a fantastic soundtrack and just some sort of like the it feels, yeah. In excess, yes.
But make right. Michael Cauchins. No, he was a bit of a rolling right. Walking lost.
I was like the strangle one. It was all right. Laying down. Don't try that at home.
No, let's go. You know what? I told you before the beginning. I was like, did you get into this?
I was like, did you get into this? I was like, did you get into this? No, let's not. You know what?
I told you before the beginning. I was excited to get into this. I was just going to be adding to me to scream it. I jumped out.
I jumped out. Just quickly. Before we go any further after the strangle one. Anything disgusting tonight's episode.
I'll ripenions and I'll ripenions alone. If you want to come and talk about this, come and go into the Facebook group. If you want to come after us. The last thing we want is toxic behaviour and there's a disclaimer done.
Now let's continue. You ought to try to make it in town. I think it's on. It's a little bit of sophistication.
It's funny. I'm not going to be a top five. That's in the future. Halloween special.
What's my favourite song in the album? Yes. I'm not the guy who wrote that at the last boys reunion as well. She's a propping name.
I'm going to choose. This is what Sam does. I'm not talking about people who are met at a convention. It's band.
It's people who are dead. It's bands that I've seen. I've seen. I've been going forever with that.
Anybody who has a celebrity out there don't make sound because you're probably going to die. I'll talk about it. I'm going to talk about it. Come on back on subject.
Kelly, why does this mean so much to you as well? I know he said you're feeling about the youth and wanting to join in the Gotts band and stuff like that. It's just, as I say, I was like pretty much of a loner child and all I had really was music and films. So this was the two things when it was just mint.
I just remember, was it dancing until the carousel instrumental? It's so hauntingly lush. That's why I look at very similar bands after. I was just like the Dresden dolls.
I was just like the favorite band. Absolutely love them. And they're called B'Orzie which has that kind of mystical stuff. Love shit like that.
Yeah, absolutely loved it. When you're listening to it, the one thing I didn't like about the soundtrack is that I didn't have a carhole. It does not sound that voice. It's not wrong there, is it?
It's not wrong there, is it? It's not wrong. We'll have to write into it now to request that. That's fucked me off.
That's fucked me off. That's like the best. Because when you hear the songs, you're seeing your eyes out. What's going on in the film?
We're kind of a strong man. I was like, what's wrong? I was like, what's wrong? I must be right or something.
Yeah, so that's my first pick. That's my first pick. That's why I second pick. That's why I second pick.
So we're going to get out of here. Okay, well, for my second pick, I've got probably quite a popular one. Forest Gump. What is not to love about forest Gump soundtrack, honestly?
It's literally called America. It's actually a television. It's an all-new game. I need to say what I've done.
It's brilliant. It's brilliant. Anybody who's anybody on there? You've got Elvis on there.
Aretha Franklin. Cretan's Glee What Revival. Skinnard's Gee, it's beautiful. What are my favorite scenes?
It sounds really quite morbid. What are my favorite scenes? I know what I'm trying to say. That whole film is the scene where Jenny is smacked off her tits.
She's on the balcony. What you think is what you're going to do is throw herself off. It's got that guitar solo. Free Bird playing on it.
It just works. It's a lot of fun. It's a lot of fun. It's a lot of fun.
I'll trim it. It just works. Free Bird only works in a handful of films. Free Bird works for everything.
Free Bird is like... There's two films that come to mind where Free Bird works perfectly. That one in Devil's Rejects. Devil's Rejects.
It's all about the same. Kingsman. I'm a seedless. Is it in Kingsman?
I can't remember. It's one where I'm going to get saved. It's one where I think it's the same. We're sending all the Jackson's on.
Where he goes to the church. And basically the turn on there thing where I make someone hold the violin and bring on Free Bird. It is Free Bird. It's just one of the greatest scenes ever made.
I've abandoned the baro for a plane. Free Bird because I love Free Bird. I mean it's a great dog. It's a great big one.
I hate it every day. Yeah. I was going to get you money worth from it in the tree pucks. Stanglehold as well.
I was another long one with a big guitar. Sorry. Going back to Forrest Gump water shout. I'm annoyed.
I didn't think of it. I was surprised you didn't. I thought it was one person that was going to have it. It would have been you.
I don't mind. I was reading about mixing. I was watching stuff about Forrest Gump the other night. Actually it's interesting to see an old time with Sandra.
The film in itself. A big part of the film is his dialect. Because they didn't know how they wanted Forrest to talk. They got a little boy to talk first.
Tom Hanks used the little boy's dialect. It's Sunday movies. No, no. I don't think this part is on.
I watched it. Tom Hanks biography. I was going to watch all the films. I got the dialect coach on set with him.
I was going to try and do it all the way through. The studio panicked. The studio wasn't a pull for his cup. I thought the film was offensive.
The whole cast and the crew within the deer were impressionists. I was doing it for a film like Forrest Gump. They kind of used it. If it's going to catch on this watch with the cast and crew, it's going to blow a pig down.
Did you ever hear the film made? The studio went, we're not making this film now. Tom Hanks and the director had, not, I'd say, right, you paint us this much for film. Don't give us the money.
Put it in the film. We'll take out the royalties. That's the only way Forrest Gump got made. What a payoff though.
I definitely paid off. I watched the movies. I made it. Didn't think I was going to learn a lot from it, just had the made-a kind thing.
And the people they used to film it. What I did was a book. Yes, there's a lot of people doing it in the book. A little bit about the sequel.
Really weird memory. The art centre. This book, right? For some reason.
It was in the house. It was like three with something and it's like Gumpisms. It was like teegens from the book. I was just like sorry.
I'm sorry. So how did you know? Don't say that, that's the fucking film. Because he said that in the book.
evil. Which one? I don't know. It was it was it was being true romance.
It was it was true. I know. I was like, Oh, I wish I could dance like Forrest come as well. Like when he staged and hold us out, we had no idea.
We went like, I think I'm actually another good thing. Like another great thing I think about the film is that it, you know, I have it in corporate all these things that, you know, for instance, are supposed to have thought all these famous people are in. his influence on America. Yeah, like the Watergate thing is like that.
Like it's just saying really good. I think everybody helps picks the girls' boots up. Yeah. Yeah.
It's like a monumental part of history. It is like that. Yeah. You know, all the coverage and all the things with like, you know, John Lennon and all the president and stuff like that.
Yes. Yeah. But I think Kevin nailed it earlier the day when we were talking about this type of thing and in the podcast chat. Basically any film that involved Vietnam had an unbelievable soundtrack.
Yeah. Because of the fact that you couldn't just name films off that like Vietnam full metal jacket. Or like, see it, good soundtracks as well. And I didn't realise that you should talk at all.
I didn't really. I didn't really say that. Stop yourself. No, no, no.
Do you say anything offensive? Yes. But no, that's really true. We're alive.
Sorry. I'll cut it out. Keep it clean. I've never tried less.
But yes. But honestly, that's something that I pick, because I think that might actually win the picks that one. So well done, Emma. So I'm a little bit.
Well, let's just wait a time away. We've got Lydia Moore Chigore. I don't know. I don't know.
I don't know. I don't know if picked you early. Yeah. But the time is always all the time, don't worry.
But I called a lucky woman. The band is this way, she's done with London. So, yeah. And that.
Yes. So great. Because that sounds, no, so I want to kill you now. I'll call you now.
I'll call you now. I'll call you now. I'll call you now. Right.
I haven't mentioned a time until I'm in a film. I'll call you now. He is the vie of film. And music and interesting.
Just fucking on it. I'll call you back in five minutes. I'll call you back in five minutes. And that's it.
I'll call him. I mean, I'm personally just like, get a little bit. Because I got the pick. I'm like personal favourite.
Not the most conventional I thought. I thought there's an obvious one, but I went with rest of our dogs. Oh, my God. Yes.
Bill Greenbarking. Minch. I've got to get a homo chance to be here. I've got to get a fair catch.
It's just Bill Green back. The dead pan fucking rage on presenter. OK, Billy, Super sounds like the 70s. Reminds us all.
Yeah. Grandfist all over my mouth. Yeah. You know what?
I have to go there. I have to admit, I know I do shit on Tarantino's films quite a lot. I know it's down to the premise. But I actually love Reservoir Dogs.
It's one of... It's probably one or two of these films that I think are worth the accolades he gets. But the soundtrack from there from Star to Finish is just unbelievable. I love the ear you're views on as well.
It's absolutely beautiful. It's one of these films, the age 10. And me, friend who's part of the group, Shamsnay, Terfolds. We used to watch that and I remember thinking, if my mum knew I was watching this, I can't offer it because it is enough.
It's a lot of blood, isn't it? I mean, this film has coloured Stalers Wales up in the middle of the year. You cannot listen to that without thinking of Mr Blonde cutting off some cops here and talking with it. You know what I mean?
He's tortures someone to such a fucking mince song. Yeah, and I'm going to flip the thing because I used to use that song to pull so many glasses up imposas because every girl used to want to dance to that song. So as soon as it's seven in a minute, you used to dance with a girl and you'd dive up off the middle of the night. So it used to be Michael and song out there.
All of you say that's coming out nice. All of them. Mine was smack-fisty off because I used to use a girl with a dance to this was that. Well, well, well, well.
Anyway, back to the soundtrack laugh. One of my so many favourite songs on a fucking coconut. You know what I mean? The coconut, the coconut, the coconut.
I love that song. Doctor! It's the nothing you have to say. Doctor!
It's really good. Oh, that also revises. I love it. Was it a magical magic?
Yes. What do you think it was? Where the drinking coffee was in the lagerie? The drink was in the lagerie.
Yeah, the time. Every time. And also you've got another, again, a track that's used on a series, a book on a film. I just think of adding the bail stamps and baby.
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
This is the same way. Being inside. Oh, I, I, I, oh. I did not really mention it.
It was a great bag. Oh, it is. Oh, it's bloody marvellous. Well, yeah.
So I love the soundtrack. Love the film. Yeah. Yeah.
Again, it's so funny though. It's, it's, it's, it's again when Mr. Blond's doing all these shit with the razor and cut people's ears open stuff. But you can't help laughing, as you said, because of the music that's behind it and the way.
It's crazy. Just the team at all such a macabre acts. It's a totally unprovised song. Yeah.
None of the scripts. You might go, that's just went for it. It wasn't. But the EA incidents that just came with it.
It was just after. You knew when you had all your nisters, it was, it was so wrong. He was beautiful. Oh, he was not a boy.
I love these voices. I love these voices. I like it's so gravely. It's so gravely.
It's so gravely. You can tell he smokes out 15 million fives in a year. That's how it responds. I love it.
I love it. I love it. Yeah, it's got a lot of grip. I love it.
I can't exhaust. I'm very glad that's, that's the territory in your pick because I would have been really pissed. I was missing the gorgeous. I'm not, I'm not just interested in this anymore.
But I knew, I knew, because the thing is, I could have done any of his films really. It's true. Even the more recent runs that he's done because he just, he chooses songs that just totally compliment his ass. Yeah.
