Hey everyone and welcome to a special Friday the 13th episode of the Nerdy of North podcast I'm one of your hosts son and I'm the host Paul and I miss the big I'll buy a This the bit out of the nerdy the nerdy podcast hosted by two more than no Special day like say Friday the 13th Anything Fully and it's still completely numb, but no problem that I can do but my coffee so that was Yeah, you and not really things don't work all day. So it's Always been strange like especially when you got a Friday the 13th outside We're in the summer or during the middle of the year because you know you wanted to be a bit dark a bit Halloweeny It's fairly tight thing and well, you want to know an interesting part Friday the 13th will always happen if the month starts with Sunday, right? Okay That's a fact I learned earlier today I Growed up in riot Exhale all mine in village next door to turn all the hospital which was in all the silent and all and also riot Cemetery was just about you also as well so I say I've been a weird alternative kid There's always many adventures to have and again if you've never heard of it, you know, I heard all hospital It's quite a scary building for anyone who's listening at home. It's not open still is it but it's still there No, it's all gone now.
There's been pulled out of it the asylum part and everything's completely gone. It's been It's getting houses built on it which is I wouldn't like to live there I remember my little ground used to be in raga hospital at one point and it's like you used to be right next to it And it's we absolutely Perivided to look at the building they can look so any all these horror stories of school about cherry gnolls and the name itself Yeah, it sounds like something out of a horror film I should have made I was a bit of a rapscallion as a kid so we brought in at many a times. Sorry, I'm sorry That's it was quite interesting because I had like giant swimming pools It still had and I say that the rooms were used to strappable down and I see And maybe the pallet sells was still there and there was tunnels on the ground We didn't get in the tunnels because to be fair that would have been so there was always stories that there was Very patient's underneath there, but I If you got in the Sunpo and had giant goldfish in because some of the security guards apparently put some goldfish in the Sunpo and the Groove as golfers to the growing the size where Things and the weather absolutely massive when we got in which it was such an interesting place But terrifying and all my say I've never really believed in ghosts But if I was there wasn't unusual noises or sounds and that company that way we were inside that would never Explet I don't know. I used to be like properly heavily believing ghosts.
I guess what most haunted I was experience in To them castle ones The torture bit That is it was just incredibly unnerving. Yeah Even like where you are you would feel uneasy, but also we went into yeah, it was Like the Kings meeting room So it was like where we used to come and congregate after battle and you've got like the the being chair at the top Long table and then players around it. It wasn't the biggest of rooms because I was on But we were in there with another couple in the teagem just for drafts of the room Because it has like the big gothic window in there as well And she showed us one of the pictures that would take and like one two like one Bitches second bit just straight after each other one picture had an orb which I always just But when she stood in on the orb you could definitely see there was some kind of like facial features in there So it wasn't on the second picture I think it's one of those things that we have wanted to always believe it Never quite because as I said, there's always little no-get-so-people say that had these kind of ex-seas But you there's never any concrete proof like I've done the whole endberate and vaults and stuff Dublin was always interested in the ghost tour in Dublin, but I'm always interested in it Which it's one of the things I'm always being a skeptic at heart. I think what's Cherrynell Hospital was one for the ages of I think I have now like back then my body is back in my gullible more gullible days because I have my gullible But my more gullible days I used to probably eat it up like a Robert eating up and The other day I was sitting in the living room I was on the point where they texted my friend Amy and I just said oh my god The paper that had a rabbit on the inside of the rabbit is literally And convinced myself that it moved from like one place to another it hadn't it just happened out Yes, the weird things we used to get scared of but coming back to the topic that we are talking about But the big friend of Dedding we decided after the screen one and having so much fun doing a no-talk on the screen We were gonna bring it back to our top fives and we've been putting this on off for quite a while now top five slash movies Yes, now we haven't fully prepared We've been only with the top five because we just thought it'd be an old conversation But we are going to give you our top five slash episodes I'm gonna imagine a lot is going to be the same My surprise you but the makes it just a disclaimer out there the ultimate best slasher film in my opinion is hallowy I've already mentioned it.
I've already talked about it So I can't use it again In this subject which is annoying but to me that again I know there's been a lot of different films and a lot of different things But that is to me the ultimate slasher film for scares and just a film called these are we saying? Well, I'll kick the list off then because how I've not mentioned it before I've not had it on one of my list before Halloween is on my list It is in there because I generally love this film and I will redact something I said on an old youtube channel I used to have with carolent we watched we did a reaction to the new Halloween movie at the time And it's generally funny if you can go and find it on youtube It's hilarious because we generally do spring it is so funny But I said on that I said on that I watched the 90s and people won There's four things in the course of a minute, but I watched it recently and it doesn't hold up I was checking out my office Thank you, thank you, it does We can still be friends Yeah, it does hold up it is incredibly intense even now like Years and years and years it's still intense it is unreal So yes, I will take back everything I said and I wasn't dissing it. It's just at the time That's how it felt and it probably because I've watched that I've watched Halloween too And then what Halloween 3 and I love Halloween 3 It's an interesting thing Yeah, it's not Halloween. It's nothing to do with the Halloween franchise It should have just been called season of the witch and but I absolutely adore that film so much So much so that my mouse man for my work table is still the shamrock I absolutely adore it.
I think it's brilliant I love the masks in that one the three ones like the witch the pumpkin and was it the skeleton fierce? Yeah, and they were featured in the the trailer or the new new Halloween film. I got this brilliant Yes, that's showing a lot in that one again Born back to the original the best the one and only John Cartner's Halloween From that as well. There's a few films that use music perfectly like Jaws and years and what Halloween as well it builds attention slowly and it doesn't have a short too much And I'm over the moon made picket so we can talk about it again Well, I've never had it on a list.
I've never picked it before so and I knew you wouldn't put it on a list because you already had And I I completely agree when it comes to music. There's another one on my list I'm not gonna say yet, but I'm the one on my list that has that has the same effect and the music in it builds on the tension of the actual film I don't know exactly what I'm gonna say with the film later on. Um, Jimi Lee Curtis is own fucking real in this one Yeah I don't know if it was the first I've been in sport I think it was the first big rule because I watched on the other night. She was asked to be Reagan in the excess So she was originally Me and next blasted through both seasons in like It's so good the honor very entertaining like say you learn a lot of stuff when I was shocked and all that Jimmy Lee Curtis was actually asked to be Reagan in the excess but her and a mum both turned it down said it wasn't for her So I'm not glad they didn't Yep, and the actress who is the Maldi one a friend.
I can't think of the names. It's not her from Carrie It's not her. It's the other one the one who gets killed while the end is in. Yeah, she's an Halloween three She's the wife.
Oh, I'm not in white but Halloween three And I just absolutely love it. I really do and I really really love the new one I thought it's not just because it was missing out the ones that I've not seen I've not seen four and five Yeah, and I think he's too always perfect for the time it was released because it fit in with the the horror genre at the time It was very scream. Yeah based on the screen franchise after that was kind of written by Kevin Williamson as well I believe I know we had a partner typing and not 100% sure and it just it fit the genre at the time So I really I think it fit in but I love the fact that take me out that she's not Michael's sister She is just because that makes it even more scary that she to him is absolutely nobody Somebody who got in his way and he just never never got a color It's just not you not you no reason. I'm coming for you Exactly.
So yeah, there's a and there's a pic and with you mentioned in it. I'll go with my pic there It's Halloween 2018 So you didn't you managed to get here Halloween It just wasn't the first one it was always gonna be I was always gonna be Michael Myers Michael Myers is the ultimate govie man He is terrifying foot roads up wrong zombie for what he did to Michael Myers Sorry if you're a fan I fucking hear the difference because they give my own Myers a backstory a reason to be evil He doesn't need to be here. He's just fucking scary Yeah, I don't I don't I think I think I own them before I saw Tommy collection and but I don't I'm honestly kind of hard I don't think I've ever watched them. I have no interest I like Rob Zombie when it's Rob Zombie doing Rob Zombie and he's just allowed because I think that's where he's best creatively Is when you can do his own thing.
Yeah, don't get wrong I'm all for the fact that he's doing air the monsters. I think it'll be interesting take but I'm not overly excited about it because like I say I just think he's better Let me just want to imagine issue off certainly and I think with the new Halloween As you said just disregarding or everything I came after because the franchise did become a bit of a joke for a long time As a lot of horror films do and this again this one right starting here the first one did happen This is what happened afterwards which to me was brilliantly and well thought out and what was perfect as well was the custom And the used good casting people that were relatable like the people who cleared like jim jim like Lauren Storod's daughter And I think she was called Julie Greer, I think Yeah, Julie Greer, she's in Antman Model bands she's got she's in everything to be honest wasn't she was in big band theory as well? Yeah, I think she probably was out and she was going to say quite like a TV actress for a while as well But there was a part in that film where she was absolutely mesmerizing Like even I did Jimmy D Curtis is basically the turning points when michaels Going down and she's like tended to be like this Victor and then you just switch and you just And you think yeah, and I did yeah I get I'm just getting goosebumps just thinking about that scene because in reach she flipped the switch like there is She is her mother's daughter. She just didn't want to be her mother's daughter because she even wore a Christmas jumper on Halloween To keep away from the fact of what her mother goes through all the time.
So and I just I love that but yet when it counted She then became a mother's daughter and it was just on another granddaughter as well. Yes such a good casting for a young actress And she was just she acted how you if if Laurie Storod had the knowledge what she does now in from when she was younger That's how I would imagine she would be yeah, but I say they're in the right thing running away Not trying to get into different things doing sensible things in horror films where you can really it too But again, I'm trying to be on the feminist agenda strong female characters not being weak not being all where the bands was in distress Sure, but they can mess people up and uh finally six together at the end even though maxia grandma the lorry shorod was a bit So I say touched in certain areas and and the area went in the gorta like say her farm and just got them mannequins where she uses target practice It's a night-noffule that makes you scary and the way she tripped like trapped out by her house such a new he was coming as well Was so brilliantly done again. I've got nothing but admission because I didn't expect much fun This film and it gives us so much more. That's why it's on the top five because my acceptance expectations was here And it just blew them away and I was I was very looking forward to it I was in it I was in a horrible at the time like a horrible horrible like I just accepted that I'm always in that bubble I can't get out of it at all and I remember me because me and carol and what the pictures we like to get what we call the Um We like Always get the two seeders And but the people who was behind us.
I remember at the end of it what the guy did was a guy in a girl And he turned around and went what a pile of shit that actually was I just remember they turned around what? Like what if you just watched like it was on really like this? You know what? Scared them and you didn't want to know you scared?
I remember when we went to go and see it and we couldn't get out of it. I would see so we had to sit amongst the people And there was two girls that next to us and they were absolutely they generally terrified I could not stop laughing. I was literally inside tickled with laughter would generally did actually feel sorry for them Because I think at a few times the one you get up and leave and I was like oh just the Kennedy was a little bit more A little bit horrible. I think that's one thing I did enjoy watching like the original and this one Again, I mentioned the past I'm not sure enough having the projector and the big screen watching these films as it should be Like say I know it's always fun watching on TV but say no no big screen.
It makes all the difference all that was Yeah, I get it. It's all the front of the park there But yes, so my pick first big Halloween 2018 which again in theory is Halloween 2 2.0 When Michael fell off the thing you've got arrested so two didn't Technically two didn't happen the next one's gonna be in the hospital So that looks like it's gonna be like what happens in the hospital afterwards Right, right. See I never knew the continuity of because when the change of look I was like I don't know what falls in where I'm definitely new from three onwards had nothing to do with it And it's such a good watch like if you've not seen a big boy from a few And the fact that they've still got him See this is why I like it compared and I'm stupidly didn't Yes, Dr. Loomis Don't that's it.
Thank you. Um, even the fact that they had him like running through like he was still a part of it Even though he's been dead for a long time. Um first person to mention who's dead I was gonna be All the time All the time and but not even I haven't him like running through which his notes his his learnings his teachings all about like they were still implanted in there And any collectors out there, um Just brought out the Michael Myers Mask It's available It's a pre-order at the moment, but yeah, it's literally just not again. It looks pretty special Cool It's It's on there Great so my next one I'm just gonna get it out the way with because I know it's on your list if it's not Trick or treat I didn't fall what is whoa?
I don't consider it as a slasher. It's more like All of you have been kidding me, right You need to go back and listen to one of our other ones because you told me when I put this on a man on a honorable mention You said I would consider that as a slasher right? Well, I think you talked as round also. I'm gonna give you the credit here because it's one of video collections one where it's one of your stories But um, I think I still have it Yeah, I was gonna I was pointing with the idea of it but again I think I'm leaving this one closer to Halloween because it is one of me Halloween watches trick or treat which again As a surprise I wasn't expecting this to be as good as it was Meaning that if you look at the promotional stuff if you look at the posters to this screams out This is a pile of shit.
It didn't really does didn't come out. They said all of it You just look at the forces itself like it just doesn't look great the opening of it with the um the comic book style opening of it Even that looks a bit Do it in it I think how many stories is it in there because there is the opening yeah Who don't do Halloween probably who don't follow the rules of Halloween? And that's when he introduced to some Um, and then and then you've got the guy who kills the kid You got serial killer kids stealing pumpkins to do a ritual You've got Anna Packow and her pack of werewolves which is which importantly scared the shit out of this I did not see that coming. No, and then you've got obviously the serial killer who encounters the werewolves He was the same serial killer that killed the kids.
Yes. Yeah Yeah, and then you've got the old guy at the end who has the big encounter with Sam and it is just brilliant Oh, who's it goes Brian Cox? It is um, I can't think of his name from x-men That would have been really cool if I could have thought of using him from x-men I can't um, but yeah I just I just when you said it was a slasher film in that when we were doing the horror ones I was like hmm I kind of get that because Sam chose brand new shinai But he doesn't kill him he walks away It's it's a weird one because when I watched because I said watching Eli I brought the horror there was a lot of films there in that the potentially I wouldn't class as a slasher film I've talked about and use so it's it's a hard genre to say it but again I I probably when I originally thought about I think I was gonna be a slasher film But when you talked about it, I would uh, I'd like to say when we had that conversation They kind of then changed me mind a little bit because it just half slash elements But that's not the key story. They take a ghost story.
It's a they say werewolves story Because I did make a big post of the fact that it's anthology and I know anthology might be like love me and It just could the whole vhs series. I would never normally go out my way to watch something like that And just looking at the the The front of the dme case alone. It kind of put us off a bit because I just thought that was gonna be like a gore fest And I'm not kind of a gore horror fan. Um, and it wasn't at all.
It is and we've been to the series It is unreal so good. But I also love try-lives on movie which is games anthology and um pre-show I'll pre-show. I'll say brilliant. Yeah, absolutely look and I just love anthology I look at everything all mixes in they can sometimes like Yeah into war with each other but I think I think we're trick-or-treat as well.
Um There was iconic imagery in there that it weren't really expecting as well Like the Sam the pumpkin and like the sack head. Sorry. Um was brilliant and when you take that off and the elements of like say These little candies came that used to start big old and was quite terrifying. Um, like I say the kids who got stuck in the school bus Like came back as zombie monsters again.
That was Terrifying the way they did that and the young girl who played like the picked on nerd which we all related to And all she wanted was the boy to like her or to be friends with her. Um Was thinking like say elements in there was all done Perfecting it in a way and um again And it's really hard to get hold of and deviating and blurry. I don't know if you've noticed No, I've never actually gone out to try and buy it. It is um, it just has such a huge fan base Like just a salar lawn like he is very much a daughter not um merchandise wise for us in the UK quite hard to combine So I can imagine deviating is being quite hard to compare to in America.
Not an issue is everywhere Spirit Halloween had a huge one of them. The next did nothing like you look at it like our version of TGM Mac prices Like it wasn't very expensive. Um, but be more geek in the Metrol sender has the lollie. I've got the neck I guess I've got the pop as well I said to myself I wouldn't suck like the mega until this room was done I was because nega is like not something I would want to take out the box and I need to slay like displace place as far as But they'd had the lollipop in be more geek and I'm so close So close, but I was shot with me mom And she already made a tk match or report it should go to hella like I'm nearly 40 if I walk out with this lollipop she is going to ask some serious questions But I cannot be bothered to get into right now.
I'm just gonna leave it. I leave it No, but yeah, I put trick or treat on there just because I generally thought you would have had it on and I've been one I've been dying to talk to you about it for a while. So No, it's a good choice. I say I went a bit well I failed with someone I tried to pick ones up you probably wouldn't expect so like say my next pick You'll probably never have guessed this in a million years, but uh It's just before we finish again trick or treat if you haven't seen it try and get yourself a It is generally one the better like better horror films and it will surprise you as well There's a lot of hidden gems in that and yeah, so pretty info for a horror film.
It's adorable It is absolutely adorable, but the story telling itself if you is just really well done Like that's all I can say is well done stories that fit in the horror genre. It's just it's fantastic. Absolutely brilliant. But come on.
What's your next one? So when I watched this it completely wasn't what I expected I was done the slash a film in a way that I don't think it'll ever be done again And uh there's talks of a single which again, I wouldn't mind but if they don't make another single I wouldn't be too upset because I think it's just a perfect film. It's um One the actors in it is one of your favorite actors and he's brilliant in anything he does is Alan turdick So it's tougher in deal versus oh my god Yes Why did I even think of this this is generally one of the funniest horror films that it's ever been doing because it is the one that takes The piss out of every horror cliche that there is yes a little bit. Oh my god.
I saw one watch as well I love it. It's just hilarious because you see the artwork you see the covering it looks like it's just gonna be a general Like country bumpkins kill kids in the woods, uh, hora would it turns out it flips it flips Again flips the switch and says these two loveable company two bookins just want to like it nice that they get away And these kids are some reason absolutely terrified them and get themselves into small stupid positions Where they end up killing themselves by accident in ways that are the most gruesome and idiotic ways possible And so everyone that witnesses it. I think these go to two blokes like Alan turdick and what's the other lab called Tyler lip bean if you're deal and I know he was in Love that film But honestly, it's just hilarious. Like I said, it feels like it's gonna be like something like the evil day And it turns out to be final destination gone Just said that maybe it was a film it wasn't sorry.
It's I'm sorry. I'm pulling over my films I want to mention and we should come on prepared And this is it does it just it mocks in certainly like the best way possible all the horror cliche is that but they don't they don't inflict it They do it to themselves like it is genius and they're doing a sequel It talks about it, but I don't think it's going ahead and or again It's one of them films that didn't do well. I didn't get released and the center and I found it's all on dvd It was like a word of mouth film where more people watched it and actually can't help but enjoy this film even if you're not a Horafound it's just so ridiculously funny And there's bits where like this one kid is getting things he's being chased and he's running alongside like what do you think? Stuck or a deal and it turns out they're running right alongside each other.
There's a lot of edges and why are you running? Why don't she has each other and the kid runs into a tree branch that splits him in half and it's it's so grotesque and like I'm poor I took her a deal. It's like why these kids are we joining us other single cults that's killing themselves in front of us And like they say there's a lot with sheriff quite suspicious of top-run deal because they're like they look like the country Vulcans I think they'll try to kill them, but then he gets killed in the most accidental but stupid way as well I think one of the like like I think things are being gets knocked off and it just hits them and meals in the head And these little kids are chasing and they say the love interests that and it as well She's kind of like knows that deals not kill her and she's trying to tell our friends what she gives to get knocked out It's like slapstick horror, but don't it? It's such a good cast as well like and Alan Turic doesn't get enough screen time like he's he's just so funny and it was surprised I generally To look at it just looks like It shouldn't work.
It shouldn't work. That's on the idea of it. Do you know them some people on zombie films are keep bringing out like zombie beavers and shit like that? Yes, it was reminded of something like that.
I think it was just gonna be naff naff Sorry, I don't know if you know that sounds so it's fine Well, I've known this quite a few times that we've said film Oh, film It's just a topic that's on the facebook group at the moment about a northern the northern language and how we change words and film is one of them I used to work in accident. People used to pull me up for that a lot But yeah, it's just it's so funny and just so then characters are just so lovable They just love the life over them that you just can't believe all this bad stuff's happening to them So that's been a while since I've seen it though. I know I think we see it was next so we're gonna have to catch at the moment So I think it'll be one more basically we'll watch when she gets back Well, my next one is a recent one so 2017 all right I basically watched it because everyone else was watching it That was the only reason I had no reason to watch it. I hadn't watched a trailer or anything like that And I thought everyone's talking about it on Instagram I'm just gonna go and watch it and it's from Bloam House So why I doubt it that I wouldn't like it.
I don't know and but it's happy death. Yeah, all right. Yeah, um, I didn't love it I didn't hear it. It's it was a film that I think all could describe this as like popcorn film you would watch and I say I never really I'm surprised I got a say but I really I've really generally got these films I Mean I watched it and I was like I say you've got to watch it.
I really it's just an enjoyable film I'm gonna say movie from now on I can't wait to go that's the time Putting that up on there. Um, no, I got him to watch it with us for my second run And he really enjoyed them to the point where we watched the second one when I came out together And we just it was just fun. I just like the idea of it and it's it's ground up here In the worst way possible. Um, but the fact that he was at analogy at the end when he says, oh So you're gonna do that when she was like what's ground up here?
I thought the actress who played tree was just brilliant. Yeah, I thought she was fantastic I just really liked our attitude. She was a pro-robbage and then just turning the word non-nonsense I like the premise I said you can be an asshole and I died so many million times and then decided I might want to Re-change our tree people and But every time I like the fact that every time she died It's not like she was better than actually she was feeling the effect of each death that she was having Yeah, and it was having a more more effect. So then we could get give that like sense of urgency like we're shit We need to get the sword because it's one of these times.
I'm not gonna wait for anything up Yeah, yeah quite like that. Like I said the baby fiesta killer was quite sinister as well. That whole mask Maybe this was off button showes here, but I think the reason why I didn't love it as much is just reminders of a supernatural episode the the mystery spot where Where they didn't get killed like so many different times and Sam's going to see him watching thing die every day But oh my god, it's the it's very he sings at the beginning doesn't he every morning he's singing the same song about the end of the episode you are singing that song That one that was good Yes, I think was a like the first one Actually was a second interest in all the eat But yes, that's what it reminds of that episode of seven actual and again, this might be just being biased by thoughts of natural I don't know Because I'm in this yeah I just I generally like it. I thought it was Monday slash a done in Monday Seven but still have the same feel is what the slash genre should be so that's my left my pick Yeah, no, it's good.
I'm surprised like I know you went to the original Halloween But we haven't went more the more traditional classic slashes I know we can't use screen because like I said that was screen that we talked about last week We took that out by doing a whole episode That was the thing what's um I know my picks I haven't went to classical which surprised me as well, but um I don't think I think I like them more when I was younger, but when I've watched them now They don't really have too much of effects, but again, I think I've got a few honorable mentions what we talked about afterwards I do have honorable mentions to some that I To be honest with the trick-or-treat winner replaced one way, but I'll get into my honorable mentions today, right? That's my happy day Cool. So my next one is basically a screen rip off. Um, but I still really enjoy this one.
Um, it's done in a way that's like say I really enjoyed and makes it again with going back to what I loved about as well is the cast was done brilliantly and It was urban legends. Oh, you mentioned this last week. I should have seen that one comment. It's it's different It fits in with that time of screaming.
I know what you did last summer. It still had a different feel to it Yeah, but one of the things I did like about because there was a lot of film docking out after screen that were direct rip-offs Like say, I know what you did last summer. Um, you can say it cherry falls even this like say urban legends were Like say part of the screen careers and some of them did them. Well, some of them I said I didn't hate I know we did that summer, but I didn't love it at the same time And I did it the time I did the time of release because obviously as I mentioned last week I always wanted to live that American lifestyle like and that was the that was part of it was then you know the the some of the go after college and you know, nothing like I was some holiday is Having the killing somebody good.
Yeah, it was it's at the time. Yes right now Not so much. I still like this one because I think with me I was always a big fan of urban legends I used to read about them used to go on internet and see like say bloody Mary or all these big American folk stories or Things that people used to do like turn your headlights off and then this one flatter you'd get chased them down and stuff like that Sorry, I have been listening to a podcast a day that was talking about the ethics of talking So it just came into me my apologies. Um, I do legends Obviously He said glottim obviously you said glottim mary.
That is a huge one for us in the northeast of england because that is mary uncutten. Yeah Norco's buddy mary was this basically you see it really married three times in the mirror. I'm That's not I'm thinking of the um, so when we were so Mary uncutten was a serial killer ish. Yeah, she poisoned a lot of people It's the basically got away.
She she she gave them a cup of tea that had asked me again Was from wall game around the time as well very very easy to get a hold of yeah, it was on the wall game She's a script off the wall game as an house And I watched a angel on Sunday. I actually watched before the screen podcast and and it was very very good I enjoyed it, but yeah, what we were in school We used to do the you have to have a ball drink with blonde hair and because we are right next to or in dialect direct line to the prison And when she was hanged because she was from the area that I lived at before I moved back to where i'm at now She actually lived there and and used to swing the balls used to have like the the hair and the ball ring and on your hand and Even swam round she was in the area. She's gonna get you I think that's what the thing like all the gore stories I couldn't make say in Ex anyway, I did and also like say held castle at the car of that of a hill in there School I went to a work went to a riot you started a ghost I used to hunt this hunt the girls toilets for some reason But and I was always interested like say that kind of fork floor type things that you can say so that element of like I mentioned always did gross And I said as you think of the cast for exit and any horror like say jarolle was an adjusting your action Had robert england in as well to our reason So the cast was pretty not too bad and again, it was fun. It had the swing fail where I didn't take itself too So you say it in mid jokes about the whole genre and make say about urban legends as well and again Not many like I think I didn't see the twist of the female killer And that's the one thing I didn't see coming and that's where most of our films at that time was quite easy to work out and quite easy to spot And that one didn't that one did catches out.
So again, I was quite happy about that. So that's why urban legend is a my top five slashes It's a good one. It's been such a long time since I've seen it The one scene that I will literally skip or leave the room for is the dog the dog and my group Yeah I'm very sensitive. I can't do anything to even if it's fictional hurt and animals cannot do it Will walk out of a room will either cover my eyes and ears so I can't hear anything That's what scares me.
Not not female serial killers run around or even male ones that matter but animals getting hurt can't do it And it is a good one though. I really enjoyed it. I really Talk about these things I know I was laughing at the Facebook group last week One of the last is it was just what I'm saying about you listen to the screen podcast and getting very frustrated That you can't trip in and argue with a switch again If it was me watching it would always be the same thing so it's good that we get that type of response Yes urban legends scream not off which to be honest if I could pick screen would have always did a place But no, I still enjoy that still a bit Good good. Well, my next one is from the year I was born.
Okay, I think it's very So it is in the ending part of the slasher genre It's kind of like almost like bang in the middle if the slasher genre can't do an end in right at end of the year It uses bang in the middle and it is where is it? There's nothing really much to it has one of I don't know controversial is Is the right term to use but controversial endings ever in a horror film, right? If I was to give my mouth open Sleegue camp you've never heard a sleeker way come Holy mother of God. You've never heard a sleeker way come.
I'm shocked. It is it's part of the Sasha genre And it does have a very controversial ending and I don't actually want to get into it because I really want to do it on youtube It's a full film on youtube and it is it is very It's a come it's a come based In painting but if the kids are the focus not the actual camp the counselors that are there is the kids that are the focus And it's oh my god. I can't believe you know her sleeker way come is So much don't worry about swan is like I never watched it but it makes it quite interesting I can't I cannot spoil the end because it will ruin the whole bill and the ending like I say If you go into any list of horror films that have shocking endings This is one of them because you do not there's no fucking way you see this coming At all is Honestly, Paul. I'm not even happy to I have happy to skip past this one for another time because I don't know I watch this every hour on my birthday All right, okay Never heard of it so um Always pass me by a little bit so I'll take it by the front is it.
Yeah, I think there's a kind of like the kids of the kid as well then actual um Yes, yes, that's not really spoiling anything like You can tell us not the counselors because they're all working together like the not big thick heads Like you would expect them to be but that type of film um Home movie because I can really hear it now. Um, but yeah, it is it don't look into it I'm so surprised it hasn't shown up on the other rock's history of horror because it is up there in the funny the sasher the sasher Pantheon it is it's a just the ending. I can't be ending is just brilliant Absolutely brilliant it is on youtube. I highly recommend that you watch it and we will come back to this another time So you would be your next one right, okay controversial like this give the pickle um so yes, um my next one again is a modern one 2011 Um so all this one other pictures again wasn't expecting anything didn't really say much advertising because this came about where with very little Fanfare and when it hit this blue up this was one of the biggest like horror films I think changing the rules and everything for us because again Would you classes as a slasher?
I certainly watch because of the first part of it Well, it's so clever so well done and the end end is just so surprising that you don't really expect it uh Cabin in the woods Oh wow. Yeah Yeah, I would put it in the sasher genre it has sasher elements in it It also has a lot of other elements in it, but that's what makes it as special as well It is because yeah that ending you do not see common in the slightest and it is really We were just talking about this year today because it comes up on the live arts program And I'm gonna have to watch the game because that looks like a copy gently can't remember it and when we were talking about the end He was like, that's not really cool actually with all the different monsters going out Yeah, so I know this was films quite a few years before it was actually released And because I know I don't know if chris hamsworth did thought before this I think it came out because of chris and wreath was being cast as thought because I had this film in the popular thoughts right what we use this as a chris and wreath legal now um, but again Flipping the switch absolutely brilliantly done where there's these gods Like that run the shore and we have to do certain things to appease the gods And give it an entertainment value as well So any like and what they've said is every type of movie of horror film troll is done for a purpose Like so the drug in these kids to act certain ways like to be slutty to be a stoner to be stupid and jolly Even on the like say quite intelligent and like say down to earth people um, but they get into acting certain ways and dying certain ways that um How to appease these gods and It's so like the little tricks to do it like um and we get you to go into basement and And to pick you on destiny like it's got like a box. I wear brings out someone else like alreza And it's not an epic comic con to be like the dead It reminds a lot of people dead. That's the setting of it.
Yeah, I mean it finally worked out what's going on and like The two kids that amended their die or one that was meant to die The version was out of survival I'm not depend on the preference But when it got to that part and you see all the different elevators and different factions that there's lead to and the bigger picture That was the whole thing and soon as when they escaped the carnage and everything that they caused and then the big reveal at the end That's fucking synths ago and away from the synth and charge as well. That was I'm currently played out and totally not expecting as well and Again for a modern horror phone as I know I've been quite vocal in the past like say I have modern horror phones have not been great and um, I not lived up to think hype This one had no hype and it came out of nowhere and it blew me away completely And I know again He's not flavor of the month or in a nice person that knows how to I've just we didn't had a lot to do with this and um to get this out there And it was like as I said, it was billed as a Josh Whedon produced film I don't know if his name would be as touched as much as it probably has been but But again, it just makes it a complete surprise and If you watch the cast as well the cast are actually perfect and entertaining A little too on the nose at times especially with a guy that was a bit here for shaggy. Obviously we do but you can't really complain too much there No, I do think this is one of these movies where I've seen on a list of like surprisingly Go to horror film list and that's probably the reason why I watched it for and it does have a huge run base This is what happens to these films or the don't get it the the come out of nowhere They can either be hit on this What is the it's the aftermath? It's the DVD release that fills that that band is obtrigatory doesn't seem the same thing and this one has one too is it's so underrated as a horror film It's it's ridiculous because it's so good.
It's so good. There's no other way to describe it Cool. So yes, that's my fourth pick there. So uh, come in right?
my last one It sounded all not really Probably started the slasher genre. I might be able to balls in my statement It generally is one of my favorite films done by one of my favorite directors And it is the movie that scares my sister more than anything in this world. It's psycho And you say go is one of the only list that it is generally one of my favorite I have oh my god I love this film since since the day I rented it out of shane road college Because I could not get a hold of it at all and the minute I saw it in shane road college library I rented it out and I watched it my sister called the last this is why we kill it It's so scared of it. She called the last part I don't generally don't think we kill watch the ball all the way through But she watched the last part and it was where the you have Nomin be it and then you have the the skull of his mother all over the top of them like translucent over the top of them She was so scared and I don't think that was the first time she'd ever seen it and she was terrified But from that moment on I Loved this movie I went when we went to um when I went to florida the first time when I was 15 It's not there anymore.
There's still residents residents Of it there but it's not there the shrek rides there instead but that whole shrek ride used to be an alfritish talk experience And you would go in and you would watch a little movie like a ball in montage of these films And then you would go on with soundstage and an end of it you came into the gift shop and you just heard the wall Beeth's hotel so and that's sort of overwhelmed. That was so much that I didn't buy anything And I did bring it to it all well with something. I don't want to pick the wrong thing So I just don't get it and I will always instantly regret not buying bits And dressing down and tell what I bought. I did buy a book that gave me every fact This is me all over when I was younger.
I was obsessed with the ex-files and the easter I got an ex-files Guide to the first and second series. I was like my fucking bible. I used to carry it everywhere Anyone wanted to get no conversation. I was like wait a minute I did a scene And I did even as like a 15 16 year old I did the scene with this bloody um alfritish Back to poop on cycle, but then it just it evolved.
Let me look like the birds is Again one of my favorites. I love it. I got some much of reason. I have a genuine fear of birds It's not through that film.
It is through um I got attacked as a kid by a punch-docks. It's not the bird itself. It's the wings. Yeah Flapping the fluffing.
I don't do it. It's the fluff of noise. It just freaks us out. Um, so any kind of what's up with them.
I just get totally Goose like I get shakin up by it with seigor is just It is that we were talking about earlier. It's that movie that the soundtrack running throughout that violin soundtrack brings the intensity out The teeth typing and say that type of effect. I was I'm good at when I first watched seigor. I didn't watch seigor one I think I watched seigor two or three.
It was on channel four. I showed up at the night So that was my first experience of normal and Beaten the Beat hotel. Um, I think it was like what he was getting scorned back to the hotel after he'd been Medically cleared or something that's yeah seigor two is very no seigor three Wasn't quite it was in color. Yeah, they're all in color after the first one.
Um, seigor Was she was cycle three is one where he goes back. He gets it gets somebody comes to the house and nothing lives with him But stays with him for a bit and it gets out of hand as mother comes back cycle four Is a really good film Really good for a fourth in the in the series. It's the radio station one It's very he's on the phone with the radio station host and he's basically trying to convince the radio horse He is this a distant person. It's not even mother.
It's him and she flips it to where it's north This is this is a illness and you have it in she how this battle out throughout the whole movie of You know who good of good and evil and in the end he burns the place down And it's so good anti-purgons is brilliant in that but obviously very very young anti-purgons in the first one Very he's acting just isn't quite there yet. It's good. It's really good for the time But it's it gets better as normal be it's as it goes on And this is why I don't diss the sequels to the movie because you get to see him Evolving and I really I really enjoyed the I don't mind the sequels at all the first one in supreme Yeah, you got Janet Lee in there. You got the woman who who does that scream better than her daughter She didn't really last a lot as well.
There's again for the scream Uh, my team got the inspiration for Drew Barrymore's early demise because they get a big star in think she's gonna be the big Throughout and doesn't even get out the shower. She didn't even get out the shower and but her scream is used At the end of the movie. So when and the beer mills when she comes in and she turns mother around and she sees that it's an actual like You know of course and she does that iconic scream that she pulls back. That's Janet Lee But she couldn't scream she didn't have that that's reaching her But that's Janet Lee who does that and me little book that I had Rocked down the shower scene that used to pass in the shit out of me.
How he did that shower scene Yeah, I think it was 32 different shots in the movie like that was the I couldn't believe but again When you look back to today's modern standard, it's not really that graphic and it's nothing but again It didn't need to be it just had to be like say a little elements and make sure when you see the little dark color Which makes it was a blood going down the plow call It was iconic and again it changed as I said slash rfilms or horror films going forward Which I think it might not start it was the one I did it the best Yeah, I will watch anything to do with this movie documentaries like this it's almost like my token obsession I am obsessed with I love long-winning, but I am more obsessed with talking so I will watch Anything anything to do with them and it's the same when it comes to cycle or any average It's a truck film for that matter and they went anti-circh and brought out the biography film with Helen meringue of hitchhop and it's all to do about the Making of cycle Brilliant. I loved it. I absolutely loved it But the story is fantastic. Like I know I've gone on about everything else other than the story But the story is fantastic that it's broken into two parts You've got the first part obviously where you're killing me and start from the second part where they go and find her And she wasn't exactly the nicest person people's like she was having a fair with somebody who was married And then stole the bunch of money from a business who trusted that.
Mary and Krayan was not the greatest of people She deserved dying to show her but she wasn't the best of people The true victim in that story again is normal based I can say I've used but you know he's used as a child growing up To be always one mother but you know so terrified of her at the same time to the point where he encapsulates and can't ever escape It's never annoying heavily influenced by a game. Yeah, and the the mother inside of it obviously not the The course and you know the skin building and shit like that and then it was like that It was it got really into for a film that isn't really that long not a long film And it's the psychological part of it. It is incredibly interesting I know you could class it as a slash because of the kill there is only one kill. Well, there's two those two boobie detective gets it And the not kill wise.
It's not massive, but it is done with the night So there's a slash about the psychological part of it is really interesting. There is the series base motel I have tried I have tried to get into it, but it is one where I can I'm not in it enough to keep going back Like doesn't grip does yet. No, I didn't think it was for me. I tried watching it But again, it's it's all about humanizing or giving reasons why they are because it's always more interesting that you don't see the aspects and to me Like even though it's great actors and actresses in it Again, I was never gonna get bored into it, but it's quite as fun.
Yes Horro genre as well, so it got new fans And you guys on it as well. Definitely. I didn't I didn't not like it It just didn't rip me enough to where I had to like watch the next episode straight away like with other series Just to say something controversial as well. What did you think of the Vince Vaughn remake?
Where's the shop? Where I was basically just like an exact shop I shop remake of this same film in a point. It's not where Oh, yeah, you see Anish's um If you ever listen to Hollywood Babylon with Ralph Balm and Kevin Smith, they used to do a segment called Anish's Bong Hall Um, but yeah, it's it's awful who directed that Oh, it was a good span of sand. Yes, it was.
Oh, good god. It was Why I don't know it's one of them things where someone thought that was a good idea and quite afterwards went why the fucking would do that It was not and the original scored 96% of rump tomatoes Personally, I think it should be a hundred because it is absolutely perfect. Um, I have got any right it was being worse Well, then me and It's just I love it. I absolutely love it.
Um, nothing will will ever I born Every single Albertyacop film because my dad when he went on when he was just with eBay and when I was then in three He found every single albertyacop film in a folder from Japan That's what I have. It's from my living room. It's huge and it's got every single one in but it's literally from Japan It's not like all the copies of English, but the packaging is all Japanese So last pick cycle which was makes it good last but lately ends well done for that one I knew you were gonna pick up how to funny film. So makes it that's why one wants to leave off my list So are you ready for my last pick?
Yes, so this film again, I know if you people have watched it recently and don't get I don't understand how they don't get how this film is I generally left the cinema and was terrified to go home alone And I would I would not be at home in the dark for a long time after this film And again, normally I don't get too scared during fun. It's what the premise and the idea of this film Scares the shit on me now. It was in 2008 started Live live live fire Yes, so I know the strangers The premise you've never seen it I've never seen it but I have seen me and because I get spoiled on every list or mention of this because it does get highly regarded as a top notch film It's just the premise of this well the idea behind it just terrifies me It's the fact that if you even if you're a cool weird and like say if you live in an area where it's quite secluded And even the house by yourself and we all get nervous when you buy yourself It's an uneasy feeling and having someone not on the door that you're not expecting or I say asking the question especially late at night and then The whole idea of this is the slowly tension building and like say that the mask as well as creepy as fuck Like I know some horror films when I use a mask it can not go either way It can't be really scary or really cheesy This one was done just enough where it was unnerving and you never see the colors faces and the whole practice never see the faces And the whole premise is the reason why they're doing it is because the answer to the door they were in at the time So if they'd have answered the door they would have moved on to someone else They didn't pick them. They didn't choose them for any reason other than the answer the door That's that's uneasy that's isn't it.
That's really uneasy And I don't know if this falls under the slash a genre. It's more of a Survival horror if that's even a genre, but it reminds us when you describe it. It reminds a lot of hush You have a seeing hutch. Yeah, I know I actually I've seen it The reason why I see as I would suggest this is the slasher is because they're getting stalked like the videos weapons and like say it is like say Torture up there is kind of like the Texas chainsaw mask going away Like the type of way where it's kind of like being hunted down and lived higher again I'm not a big fan.
I know she's done some good things on things like say I don't mind her. I don't know She was in this terrible film about warping in rings, which was not my suite I've taken this out of the rings Was it filming about warping about a ring? Well, because I can't take I'd kind of not accept that I got nobody doesn't like warping like a lot of rings. We kill a hish lot of rings We should absolutely despise it.
But yeah, no, I did not get that I was I was too busy trying to look out the corner of me. I see if he likes work still Even though I can quite easily see them in my camera. So that was just ridiculous. Yes, okay But I can't be Yes, so I said when the couple like the end and like these three people who's busy one is to couple out tortured them Put them through all different type of mental anguish and if Tara's busy barely having on it Just she says why I say why are you doing this and shreds you in it's so terrifying and when they're driving away as well after leaving them for dead Basically the cop to these kids pull up on the road and The kids are giving out these bible studies like say leaflets and these colors to take it and drive off Because you think they're gonna kill the kids, but I know there was a single the single is terrible Don't even bother with a single it's so anti-climatic but this If you're like say ever home alone and you want to be really scared watch it because it makes you feel uncomfortable Not one thing on the one or even in a house by yourself I think you have to be self without having to watch anything when I was on a close once and he was getting a lift home So I had I didn't have to go and pick them up I was I managed to scare myself by lying in bed with my foot out the bed and thinking to myself What would you do like asking myself the question?
What would you do if somebody touched your foot right now? And I managed to freak myself out so I can do it perfectly okay by myself And but I will wait until I'm just in the house to watch that one So that's my final pick and again if you're not saying it wouldn't say this to me Just if you like to be scared because generally it is a scary film which again not many It comes up on every list of like the best intense horror films it comes up on everything The whole story is not I wouldn't it is kind of ruined but I don't care You don't need more the premise just make the way to go on and make the behavior It's unnerving and that makes me make a good horror film that makes you feel uncomfortable and you can't not watch it because you want to see it What happens? Not to the point where it's like I'm not being fan of the torture porn creators. I haven't just known how I was here before I can give it to the lever but it's just cleverly done.
Yeah And now touch one's not my my quality either not a fan but for all we've done a list And of the slash of villains we cannot one of us is actually mentioned I thought that was gonna be a kiss again. I might get shot for this because when you watch the phones none of them already I don't get it wrong. I love the best one is it is iconic It was you know, it followed on lovely from Halloween and it's one of my favorite t-shirts is my Friday the 13th on which I've got on Right now and I do really like the best one but apart from that I don't really have In love for the franchise and don't get me wrong. I think really versus Jason is fucking brilliant I will fight you any of you that bill is funny as shit is really good.
I really enjoyed it I think Jason did try the third because of the extremes where it's it's one of the things where it's so about it's good at times Like one of my favorites for it is probably Jason takes Manhattan Which is just absolutely ludicrous in the way it goes on and some of the deaths again It's in the budgets on on to create so they do what they can but yeah, like I was always gonna I didn't think it would be on your list. I was that's one thing that was gonna talk about the end up with the main Friday the 13th Well, how to get Jason in there so now again, it's it's not Well, I thought we're one of the other ones I was going to mention as well as again We talked about last week it become more the lampoon of the saga I know the first one is a little bit is quite scary and I know the time but as of years well And I know streets again can't be again as good as slasher film which is like I love Robert England I think he does freddy down perfectly and Good to get you can't take a serious no, you can't and I live in various commitments to the character How they can walk away from that so many times If you saw him on e-niroth's history of horror he even all the admits that yeah, we did we took it a bit too far But we were having fun with it like and I just I love actors who were fully committed to the character and who regardless of how we see it They are still dedicated to it Absolutely love that about people about actors and he is one of them generally They people see on the conventions over. He is a generally nice guy. I think such a lovely guy And I say again just near and a few more like such the child play a film as I said Slashes but again done in a silly way where you can't take sassy I mean when you talk about committing to the role like I think was Brad doff is that right?
He makes it he's been in a few big films and stuff But he took a lot of the rings Little about what which could have been poor with the eagle flu and straight tomorrow But again, we'll knock on that just yet Take a couple of conversation with me husband. Go on. Just tell me there's only one side of it Yes, um, but yeah Child's bit again. It's actually Brad doff takes the role seriously and again with the signals that come out It was getting silly and silly and silly and I know people love Tiffany and that whole female the bride of chucky then recursive chucky Son of chucky the color chucky another read being the TV show now Yeah, well, this is what I was this was one of my own mentions because I am not a dull person And Didn't own maybe I was okay because not a dearest scared that they've been shit out of me It really put me off It also put me child's player put me off because at the time Obviously to doll and I was quite young and very unnerved by them.
So I stay away from but I always remember There was a lot of blame on A lot of them emerged that what happened and because of the child's their films and it really it did unsettle is a lot of the kids I watched them for the first time a couple of years ago. I watched all three and then I watched them One when you get introduced to me, I didn't watch the sea and I haven't watched cold But the first three phenomenal link it was And yeah, I think the case you thought it was a Jimmy Boulder one wasn't it? Because the two kids are One of the things I said is because of remind the young large at the Devastate at the time for the for what happened still to the state it is a sting of you know What actually happened? I didn't even put two and two together for the time and when it was What I mean because they said they watched house player three and the thought the kids and was Locked was chucky and that's one of the reasons I know it turns out It was other reasons but that was what they try to use as an excuse And that's why a lot of horror films at the time got the blame and again A good discussion potentially to have it a few today.
Just horror films make you insane Next they're going through the whole screen process or is it yeah as a person that watches horror films brings out that side of them We don't know if we don't know we will we will have a conversation about this because I have good and I've just finished it when I'm just but recently finished the Columbine That's a good book by Diokan and it is such an interesting read for a case that is very close to us and Which sounds a bit weird because I'm not American But I do have a do a slight bit of a connection to it And ish my best friend was in America when it happens and she was a state away from Columbine But we've been us in the UK don't realize how big it actually is and generally thought she was there So we watched the live feeds on the telling all day until she eventually got in contact with us So it's always been in the forefront of me mind but that goes into they got they blamed a lot of video games doom especially Music At the time but when you read this book It couldn't be both from the truth It is a conversation to have later on but going back to child's play I Generally love I'm not scared of them. I'm not scared. I'm scared of Dolly Because Brad's voice helps me With with me not being scared And I think the first one is brilliant. The second one is okay.
I do like it. I like I'm still going to get it. Um the third one I didn't mind it. It's not the race but I didn't mind it.
No, I enjoyed the third one. I can say what was the whole thing when you went to amicam This is this is you go and this is you peen this is what this is going to be this is your penis. This is for this is for fun and this is That was what we used to see That was what we used to see like a skill when we watched it as well because we thought was like oh Kind of a penis so out of me at jokes. Oh Yeah, um, yeah, because I remember like the first game I was like they've been quite on and but There's a lot of films there's ones like I know makes it on the Eli Roth on the use the Texas Tensor mask or else as a slasher Which I can kind of say if it is but again to me it's more of Not that type of Yeah, for me slash is if a kill is done with a knife It's as simple as that um Texas the way somebody described Texas changed on that Eli Roth program has totally made me see it completely different I mean because I had that in my head now.
I want to go and rewatch it I never saw leather base as how how this person described them It was a very lonely and very confused man who was trying to be a mother of this laptop job house New nor different but these these people were in the fear and with his day to day life Right and when you look at it, there is a scene where he's just he's sitting there He's just totally baffled like what the fuck is going on and I talked at 26 different thing and I want to go and rewatch it again But I do not cast this there's a slasher another one I was toying with the idea just because I think it's again Would it cast as a horror film or like say and would it be a slasher american cycle? I think potentially because you see it could be classed as a slasher What are you saying from the eyes of this killer rather than the victims? Do I know something? You've not seen it?
I've never seen it. Yeah. It used to be one of Michaela's favorite films and I'm not arguing with your sister over that once I'm sorry Yeah, I've never seen it. I've seen parts of it.
Um, but not not not a fan. It's just not my kind of thing I did want child's play oatmeal is for trick or treat But what I was gonna mention to you when just before we came on I say is oh, I watched something do the day and then remembered what it was And thought no, I'll save it. I watched for the first time on Wednesday. Candyman Right.
Yes, which surprised me with classed as a as a slasher film What does that mean? We didn't really start with able to get it's like one of the things where he gets brought into them. So again, it's like the other thing The victim is about urban legends. That's what she's looking into the entire film is about urban legends and What a very powerful film Like incredibly powerful.
I couldn't put into words while I was watching it. How was making this feel but I Don't think I still can't make I still come quite processed yet. Um, it's scary and hard to watch I don't think I enjoyed it at the same time. I know I don't think you meant to enjoy it No, I don't think you want to be very uncomfortable while watching it because I was definitely uncomfortable And obviously the racial side of it was bloody.
Yeah, um, we're gonna get again with don't appeal so that would be up to the max I am so now that I've seen this I am so looking forward to see what Jordan's gonna do with this Because if he knows how to write anything he knows how to write about racial injustice because he did it in um, get out That was he's just I generally can't wait for it. Um, but yeah, I really enjoyed it. I'm always put it off I've never looked a bit looks grim. Yeah, it just looks grim.
Like doesn't look Yeah, I think I like to use practical effects because I think 20 times when I recognize that you got some 24 times You're in the same way that's based on this. Yeah, he did and you know what you got insured every based in for a thousand dollars Oh, so every base thing he got a thousand dollars But he's still to this day does the convention service It is classed as like a genuine nice person. It's really easy to see somebody else who is he is a horror icon Not just becoming man. He's been in final destination Night night of the day.
Um, um, final destination Some other ones I saw when he says say the other day, but he is generally a horror icon He's just I love his voice. He's voices. He speaks to you so when he talks and he just Would like say there's so many like Because when you think about like slashes again, you can have so many discussions and arguments whether it's a slash or I believe that's not a slash Where it comes from? But again, it's like horror films and some of them are terrible some of them are there just to watch popcorn But some of them do genuinely surprise you and a lot of people don't want to give credits when Like say because the word slash or a horror film does get a slightly word of times for people and all and when And I said Exactly, I always tend to kiss a friend coming when we're talking about uh sounds a lambs being a horror film But when that came out it was a horror film and they didn't want to call it a horror film when it was in mixing Academy was using words like psychological thriller and stuff like that.
So it's a show Definitely you would definitely be an essential in your life. I'm sorry. You're a masterclass It is a good series And mark it is did one few years ago for the BBC It's three part of it's on YouTube very easily You find his type in history of horror marketers and he goes from start to finish He goes from you know the impact of the opera in the 30s 30s And he goes right up to Monday and it is such a good watch like if I'm if I'm stuck See this is why I love these type of programs that you like rock the market is if you want stuck for inspiration I'm going to watch stick them on and it will certainly give you a risk certainly but yes and again I've really enjoyed talking about this. I could go on all night One thing I want to mention before we do leave off tonight, so I know it's a special one But I know you've just been the pictures to see something that I saw last week as well How good is the fucking suicide swan though?
God Paul I went to see it on Tuesday. I came home and I watched the game and I absolutely loved it It is the first time not the first time it is the first time they got Harley Quinn right They got Rick flag right like they got him where I actually liked him They they brought an animated shark and made him the best character going Because that CGI shark is unreal. It is Yum yum I absolutely loved this part. I really did I was not at all shocked of how much I loved it because and James good is great with the massive He knows what to do with them.
We surprised how goria was I didn't expect it was that far for especially for a comic book I'm not getting anything that should have been in any day of the week Especially when King starts written people in half and seeing things and the birds picking skin off Dead heads and stuff. Yes, I totally agree with that But I do love the effect because you could tell Harley's fight scene was getting too gory And then they brought out the visual of flowers and it was to see holly done In a great way. It was just it was lovely to see to see all these different characters Idris elbert and john seiner need to be on the screen and do them all because their chemistry was on Porky real John seiner with I knew I said for a while saying that it was going to be interesting but jesus christ The rock your intro near to Coming to see that is coming for your crown. Um, do you know what they mean?
I mean, I'm always we love john seiner We generally do like we like them as a wrestler. We liked him We used to watch i used to watch total bellows and obviously he was on that quite a lot And we obviously john seiner is always on yes that man is just ready to go regardless of what you put in front of him We love him this one I say it took it so serious but you know in a comedy way when he's like in a jungle in his tiny whities I was bad enough and going what am I watching and then just before funny everything he'd say to be any was safe like stay in scenes and Even though again spoilers he was a dick at the end But you can say the conflict is conflict in when he did what he did Because he like you can tell you respected over crack and didn't want to do it but He pleaded didn't he but he knew we had to do what his mission was because as his name is he is the peace keeper like any means necessary Yeah, like any means i'm so not on forward to the t-v show Not weird the minute that's I was talking about it and I was like this and you need you know I didn't need to watch it with us tonight or we watched it the week we had to watch some like me talk to her about this and me so I want to talk to you about any of you watching on the night and we just even the second time around a few hours later I thought was brilliant. They would have had no doubt that James Gunn wouldn't do something special Certainly and it doesn't be like the Guardians of the Galaxy No, no, it felt new it felt fresh and that was the main thing and it made like Like a dark film quite colorful at times as well which again DC was has been missing so again get one of those DC Make James go in the new Kevin Fargi just get him and do anything he wants give him suit man for Give him Batman that would be an interesting take but he's attached to right burn and that's very superman esk And that is a brilliant it's class in the Netflix in the Netflix bit in the horror genre It's right. I don't do what has to the Torah book.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's like a Superman was a dick I did hear a rumor which got his little day excited. Have you heard who's in talks to be the lead in suicide squad to No, Joel Mango legal as death's role Joel Mango The make we are as they're talked only because I adore the man so much. I think he's fantastic and he is the imagery So there's a there's podcast if you it's not called anymore as called idiot But you can still get the episode of John Maganella when he was first on it It's from 2014 and he talks on there.
He's still in true blood And he says on there that you know true blood true blood is the golden handcuffs You've got the dream job But you really are handcuffed to the job You can't go off and do anything on your downtime because you have to be back at a certain time to get back to work on And he says I had Zack Snyder nothing at the door handling a script Baron of my Superman had not come out yet. And he said I couldn't do it. I'm telling you now He got offered Superman before Henry Cavill I guarantee it but if you listen to episode of this hilarious because that man does be best macho man Randy Savage impression ever So good, but that is brilliant if he is in his I am all for it. I just think he's great He's a nerd just like us certainly so again, it's probably been a long one, but I've really enjoyed it I didn't want to leave without talking about the suicide squad as well because that is one of those things One of the highlights of my week as well watching that's what I hope you guys enjoyed again Like say if you've got any concerns anything that you don't like about elk picks or if you agree Let us know and comment on the facebook group comment on like to the youtube channel The facebook groups nerdy of north community youtube on iTunes and Spotify just search nerdy of north pretty easy to find and now which is getting quite surprising But yeah, anyone wants to point me on the Friday versus Jason their comments comments.
