everyone and welcome to the Nerdy Up North podcast. It's a Nerdy podcast and it's hosted by Northern nerds. Ah yeah, one of your hosts. And I am half dead.
Yes, I, I, I'm sorry. It's just leaves, blishy, babes, whoops, just like everyone. Oh, hey, what is that? I've got a chance of that.
Start off, ooh, spooky, season spooky, whoo. Yes. We didn't need it. It's like J.N.
Santa Bob in this house. But yes, yes, starting off again. So yes, I am the first poll and we are joined by the birthday boy himself, the wonderful, the amazing, the exciting, spiderly. And to give you a little bit of shot of what spiderly's been up to when it passed by now.
So hopefully. And they say that he's a little... Me and Sami were here as beautiful singer. I've heard it in rough, I'm afraid.
I'll hold on to the wee, wah, wah, wah, just to be all the way. He's watching us. They say that he's a little bit of a carry-by. Oh, hey.
Oh, it was beautiful. Thank you for that. Thank you. Thanks for sharing that.
It was great just flicking through me, tick tock and then that comes up and I'm like, oh my gosh. But not just that, because it is Lee's birthday to the ear. And how are you feeling for your birthday? I'm enjoying it nearly.
Yeah, surprisingly, I'm completely sore. I haven't had anything to drink it. Well, someone's definitely drunk, because this guy has been sending your pictures, giving you all the different messages to the ear. And we've got a little message from him to the ear.
So hopefully everyone at home can hear this. So I'll go quiet. Happy birthday. You said it.
Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to the ear. Happy birthday to you. Oh, the fuck, I got this cake.
Oh, oh. Sorry, Lee. I guess we thought it was a good rub there. Oh, gosh.
Lee is in the chat, so thank you Mr. Goodwill for sending that to you. I'm giving me so much ammo that I can use. Lee, that was so funny.
The chat is loving it. Happy birthday, Lee. I'm not going to tell anyone how much I've left. Oh, the most poisonous is out there, so yes.
Oh, Lee. I'm going to sing to you, because clearly you've been a bit rough as all of us. And just to say a big thank you to everyone who joined us last week for the 24 hour stream. That shit was emotional, hard experience.
Again, I know, I think it was already talked about Goodwill mentioned it on the tracking podcast. I am so sorry that we didn't know about YouTube's policy that they don't keep any videos over 12 hours, which they do not have it in their terms of conditions. They don't have it anywhere which I'm trying to chase. Nope.
Apparently I was sent an article from about five or six years ago stating this was a change. So everything that we did, and we were expecting to go back on and relive, it was kind of the one of the things that you had to be there. So it's like, did it happen? Is it real?
I think Jake said it perfectly. It's legendary now. It's completely legendary. But thank you to everyone who stuck with us.
Thanks to Lee for managing to stay awake the whole 24 hours. Because nobody... We can't blame. Lee.
Do you know what, Lee could have quite easily turned around at one point and said, no, you're all right. I'm just going to stay here because we invited him back in the zoom and he quite happily joined, even though he knew how tired he was. But he is nearly late now. He is becoming accustomed to the film.
The camera does love him as he keeps on giving us so much fucking good content. He is. I don't think he intentionally means to give us that good content. It just oozes out of the film.
Oh, there's a lot of news in that one right now. Oh, you said good enough. Yes. Just to say, I thank you to everyone donated.
You can still donate. I'll put a link in to the description at the end of this video as well. As we stand today, and I can't thank you enough in all the hard work that everyone put in, we asked that sitting at a total of 1,391 pounds. So that was wow.
231% over our initial target. We do as well have a hundred and seventy eight pound and 93 pounds and gifted to be added on to that as well. So nerds, we've done something right. We've done the world proud.
So everyone that was involved, everyone that watched on, please give yourself a pat on the back, you just made a difference. And you just really did that. So thank you guys. So yes.
So do you want to do your little bits now, Sammy? Oh, because we're going back to normal, which seems so weird. After sitting here for 24 hours. Oh, how he's been and what he's been watching.
I mean, yes, we covered, but that's about it. I mean, hips. And finally, finally forgiven is my age to certainly caught up with me that night. Lee, how did your body be cut after that huge amounts of pouring it through the system?
Oh, God. I don't know. I think I had a couple of cans of money after that. You were saying this does something.
You just not like yourself. I think me body was going to come down afterwards. So I just had to get more. We have slowly.
Oh, Lee. Oh, it took me a while to actually like go to sleep. I was like, I'm still a bit wired, still a bit like up behind. And then I think I was asleep for like four hours and then I was like, okay, I'm not that was a tea.
I was like, yes, we fucking will. Well, I went and popped in the sea of the breeze to grab some eggs and then the sleepy, the alien ended up buying about 60 quid's worth of shit stuff that didn't go together. I was like, I'll just agree. I want everything.
And the thing I think I've been watching this week, though, is the fall of the house, which my God, I know a lot of people had a bit of different views on it, but I found out for this law start, this was one of the best ones that I can't remember is near now. The guy who's done again, there's done in my eyes, like the stories, the characters, it was so well done and interwoven in like aspects of Eddall Paul, which was just done perfectly. But yeah, I thoroughly enjoyed that. I am going to start it tonight.
I think I'm going to give it a bash tonight. I know I've been pre warned, but I'm still going to give it a go. I'm not missing it because I have completely missed out on midnight mass because I kind of physically bring this out to press play on it. But you said it was a small portion.
So I think I'll start that tonight. What about you, Lee? What do you mean watching? I'm almost caught up on Star Trek, Strings New Wills.
Oh! So I think I put up three episodes left of season two now, which means I'll finish that and then I'm going to have to go back through Trek and up North because they reviewed all the episodes from throughout season two because I'm watching it and it's like, they mentioned that on the end. I want to go back and just see what they said about it because I see now that watching it. You feel like you could be part of Trek and New World?
Yeah. Yeah. I can't look for the Trek. Oh, yes.
Sorry. Someone's just put a poll up and it's blocked me view. I inadvertently watched and finished the new series of always sitting in Philadelphia without realizing that it was a very short season and we plowed through them and I was like, oh, I was finished. That's the end.
I wasn't used to that, but it was so funny. They did really up their game with the writing on this one from last season. Last episode with Dennis was some of the best, the best I've seen in the long time, either mental health day. I would get so annoyed with that car as well.
That was crazy. I'm not angry at you. I'm angry at the situation. How many times have we heard that?
Sorry. I was a little bit disappointed because I was expecting Ryan Reynolds to show up, even just in a small role with him and Robbie and like really good friends and business partners now. And there was rumors going around that he was going to show up as boyfriend. Oh, he would have been Alexander.
It would be perfect. I do think he's going to pop up at some point. I think with the film in Deadpool, it's probably not going like, fitting in well. But I do think Ryan will pop up in only at one point.
I think we talked about it before when I mentioned that it started. Oh, all Dennis looks like he's age 10 years in this season. I said, and that looks like his botox is stopped. He generally looks like he's not doing botox anymore because there was no way in God's.
If you go from the beginning, Dennis has a normal face and all the sudden it's just like everything straight, everything is straight. And it just looks like he stopped doing his botox. It's rubber in his face. He looks so, I don't know if it's because he doesn't have his bed anymore but he's got such a child's face.
He's got a man child face and it looked the episode with a nut though. I kept going and what's wrong with his face. Sorry, it was a good series. It caught us off guard with how short it was because I was expecting it to be a bit longer, but then you got to think of like, the last season was quite short as well, because when I went to Ireland, that was quite, I felt like we just getting going and it ended.
But I think that's what we're going forward with that because what we're in 15 seasons now. They've been renewed for another four. So maybe that's the deal. Yeah, we'll keep doing it, but I'm sure it lends because they do have other shit going on in their lives.
And they also do the podcast that accompany it now. And they're back on the road again. They just did their first live show the other day after the right to strike. And the whole audience did the golden thunder speech with the Jeep.
So it's Glenn, what's his face in front of the whole audience? Well, he's sitting at the audience and saying it back to him. This is not a spikina car. This is a finish car.
Love it. Great. Those are the things I've been watching. I did watch the New Hornet Mansion.
Oh, yeah, it was a good one. It's really good. It's a different take on the story. I thought they were just going to do the same story over, but they kind of changed it around a little bit.
I made it more about the ride, but the ghost's following your home. So they step inside the mansion, the ghost's following you. So everyone's kind of living in the mansion. And there's this big Jarrad Lettow, the big bad, and it's really strange and weird, but it's not Jarrad Lettow.
So that was interesting. But I did watch, I've got what it's called now. I think it was the Devil on Trial documentary that just came out on Netflix. And I think it's basically the conjuring the three story that Devil made me do it.
It's basically the true story behind that and how the Warrens kind of took advantage of it and made money. What's that one called? The Devil? The Devil on Trial.
Right. I think I might watch that because I've been kind of a volume network documentary recently. I think this is part of the serial killer documentaries. It's just two, it's just two, all very saturated now.
And I'm like, should I be really watching these? These are like true events and it's not getting a bit more gorey now. Yeah. And I didn't realize that was one of them.
There's another one on Netflix as well. It's just started. I don't think it's just started, but it's just been added to Netflix bodies. Was Stephen Green?
It's not a documentary, but it is a TV show. It's been setting different times ones where they've got to knock it. It's kind of f**k with your head. It's like four different timelines, four different detectives, one murder.
That's how I read it. And I was like, yeah, can't be coming in on that one. I'll sip of that one. But yeah, I'm getting a bit sick of the dark thing.
I don't know if it's new and so it's just been added to Netflix or wasn't you with the Maxine car one? Fuck no, stay away from that bastard. No chance. Yeah, no.
It's just getting too much, but I will watch that one because I wasn't overly, we did a review for it. And I think we were quite honest where we were like, we kind of wanted to enjoy it, but we, there was just something like missing that you didn't get, like, that you weren't getting from the first two. But I did like the idea of it. And we all know that the Warrens are, you know, I like it.
Charlottons, I'll see it. They're charlatons. I love the movie Warrens, but the real life Warrens. Yeah.
Yeah, they can. So, yes. So, Sammy, do you want to do your fabulous and wonderful disclaimer? Or you actually did it better when you were half asleep at the middle of the next time?
I did it early in the morning, didn't I? Yeah, see, don't it like when we just randomly at some point, we'll just leave it for the crack. Fill it up. Fill it up some.
So everything that's missing today's episode is our opinions and our opinions alone. If you'd like to discuss anything from today's episode, please come and join us on the Facebook group, the Discord or the comments section where we can have an open discussion. What we want to have is anyone coming for us in town? If you're not in town, there's our opinions are wrong.
We can all agree to disagree in fandom. So let's give it fun, give kind and give it toxic behavior out of notism. Very well said. We'll need to get nerdy nail, a little saying that as well.
So, I'm just going to do it. I'm nerdy. Fuck yeah. Yeah.
And then have them singing. Yes. Do you know what I can say to us? What's that other one that they did?
That was like, there's three Nickelback songs and the one. Oh, there's one. That one. And the one.
I want to be a rock star. That one. Yeah. Well, you can do Nickelback, say back at love three songs.
Yeah. Back was a get bad or get backwards. I don't know. I like, I was one now quite like this is how you remind me of.
Sorry, we've just lost my 15 viewers now. I'm really sorry guys. Yeah. We'll stop with the Nickelback.
We apologize. We are going into this week's episode. Yes. We're talking about the cold classic and the kind of sleep that came about from Norway, Top Run Deal versus Evil.
2010, this came out. 2011. 2010 is when it actually, yes, it did come out in 2010. However, no fucker wanted it.
So we got because of when it's done dance. It got a release then. And then nobody wanted to distribute it. They're like, yeah, yeah, well done.
Well done. Well done. You're all your rewards and everything. But we just want this.
And then someone finally in 2011 took it on. And that's where the release came from. Right. Okay.
Because I said I was not going to enter it as well because this came out around about the same time as coming in the woods. Yeah. So you get the two, like, I wouldn't call it mind fucking well. I'm not going to call it a bit of a mind, but I similar type of ideas as which is normally doing Hollywood where, like, when both life came out and came out, a lot of the similar type of movies come around like when it's a bit different around about the same time.
So you don't know if like scripts are getting copied or who copied off who, but both of these movies are kind of like a flip reverse to what you kind of expect from like the slasher or the horror genre in a way. Yeah. I probably saw this through, I didn't say when originally was released. I think I caught on, I'm blue, right?
I got a blue race. What about you late? When did you catch this one? I'm pretty sure it's not that after a K-Moutz.
Oh, I thought you want to say last week. No, no, I definitely watched it when it like, I think it's maybe said just being released on TV via something because we made it more than it was in the shops. I was like, Oh, we need to watch this. It's meant to be amazing.
And it really is. Really is a sleeper classic as well. I was reading about it. And when it came out in America, it only made $200,000.
Five million budget and didn't even break last, but it is renowned now is like, it's a cult classic. I'm crazy. Crazy other thing. It's one of those films as well that could lead into multiple sequels.
Like the premise of it is so good. You don't have to just leave it where it is. You could have a deal going off in different adventures and this mishaps and everything happen. It would make a brilliant TV show.
There's so much potential or possibility with this. So I know we'll probably have more of a conversation about that later. When I first saw it as well, I was completely blown away. Like how interesting and just how do I like all the characters as well?
Like each character has done well. And even though the story is very predictable, like very ear to be like horror movie side, what's the fact that the bad guys and who you expect to be the good guys are completely reversed. So these cowboy, these hillbilly, hillbilly Hicks from down south who looked like the wood, not just fuck your sister, but eat your sister as well. The nice guys in their friendship is the core thing towards the film as well.
I think that's the thing I get through at the most is them two characters their friendship is like, I want a friend like that. I know I want a friend like Dale. This film is just so kind. This film takes stereo types and flips it on its head in every aspect.
So you've not just got hillbilly versus the college kids. You've also got the fact that Dale, who would be looked at as a sidekick to Tucker, is actually the main star. So does that stereotype being flipped as well? The relationship between them two is palatable.
It is absolutely infectious. I genuinely look, I could sit and just watch them two on screen just sitting live in their lives. Anything with Alan Turic, I can't get his eyes. I was pretty sure anything he does is just called from Firefly to the alien shore on Sky One.
That was just brilliant. I would Steve off dodgeball. And even as a robot in the AI, the Will Smith movie, not wasn't the AI. It was an AI robot.
That's the one I was. He was also Rogue One. He was KJ West night. Anything in, he's just entertained it is.
And with this as well. He's fun. And when you see him, he gets tortured in this film as well. He gets stunned by bees.
He gets his fingers chopped up. The bee stings is hilarious. The bee is on his face. That was a good...
No, it was all improvised. But just to think that's why your brain goes to. I think he is his elixir for life. Especially how he goes on when he gets his bee at the end.
So I think he's head. He's like, yep, this is going to work. It has to work. As soon as you start the film, we go back from the very, very start.
It's not what you're expecting from the start. It's kind of like the after everything's already happened. It's in the cabin. And you've got the news reporter.
It's in something fishy, something's not quite right. And you see the creators person with half a fierce whack and about with a metal rod. And that's the start of the film. It goes back to the year, two or three days later.
And you get the college kids going off and makes it. Oh, no, we forgot the bee. Ah! Bullshit.
I think there's love deals dead eyes as the driving pass. When the driving pass. Oh, sorry. When you said that, when you hit, you said the reporter got hit in the face.
The minute you said hit me radiator when ding and that jumped a little bit. Come on, get your face. Go straight back. I love the aesthetic of them too though.
They are because the director said that he's very inspired by Texas chainsaw and he'll have eyes, even make deliverance because the aesthetic will look a bit. And I love the deal and took it instantly. That's where you're like, yep, they are bad, bad people. Because of how they look, where they are located, the fact that they're going to a cabin.
Yeah, things are just going to get fucked up. But it's a complete reverse. Like, I've never known a movie, flip it on its head. Like that.
Yeah. Because the minute deals start to talk and you know what kind of person he is. Yeah, he's got a very kind sort of like, and the college guy, like the name college guy. What a dick.
He is the biggest douchebag in the movie. Oh, Chad as well. Yeah, Chad. Stick head name in the world.
Fucking Chad. It's hilarious though, because the start of the film, if you're parallel, it is pretty much identical to the remake of the Friday the 30th movie. It literally seemed by saying it's like, oh, except from Jared Paleric, it doesn't look like a hillbilly. He's went to a final shirt off-brand.
But it's still like treating the outside like a dick. But how scary was that shot or when the went in? Like literally if I went in there, I would probably shit myself. I don't think I would.
But that's just because I like weird stuff. So I'd be like, oh, how can I get this home? But anyone, you know, was an ordinary guy that would be walking in there and going, fuck no. I've seen the movies.
I've seen how this turns out. I'm not going to end up on one of those walls. I'll touch up. But as an aspect, when you watch this movie back, I think the biggest word I can use, if you take out all the gore, this is just a proper fun.
It would be a fun family comedy. If you took out like brutal, because you don't expect it to be as brutal as it is. And as we get into it, and all the different things that do aspects, they will happen. But you're right.
It does clip all the stereotypes. Like the blonde girl turns out to be like, not a bitch and really nice and actually quite intelligent. They didn't go like blonde, bimbo route. But they did go through like every single horror movie cliche that kind of like skinny, dippin' lyric.
Like have the most imaginative deaths as well. I don't know about you, but some of these deaths were better than some of the horror movies that we've had in the last 10 years, I would say. Orly, totally. It felt really high budget.
And the acting was top notch as well. Apart from right at the very beginning, when they're like, guys, we forgot the beer and all go, no, I was like, oh God, this is just, this looks like it's going to be a shit movie. It's so cheesy. Why are they all doing that in synchronization?
And then they get to the stop place and deal starts talking and I just flipped through over there. I know this is amazing. But if you've seen any of the horrors that fit that trope, that synchronized no is in probably the majority of them and also a teenager's been in a car. And the scene with the, I don't know why I found it so funny, but deal when he's trying to get the beer off the floor.
And for some reason, he sits up and he's tops off. How does he come off? He's sure good to get caught on top of his jeans. Oh, it's just a clean rip off and he's just got knee-topper on.
I think it's class. But what I liked about that was there was a no sell from the police officer who caught him because the police officer pulled him over and like, oh, I said, I've spilled the beer. So that's why deals basically been an over look like he's given to a happy time. But it is quite essential like a homophobic joke that these type of tropes do when it was like at the time where they were quite rammed.
But it didn't make it out that way. The police officer didn't act away. Okay, guys, don't go up there. It's going to cause trouble and stuff.
I quite like that aspect to it. Me too. I feel like it would have been completely wrong for this kind of film anyway because this whole film is about prejudice. Yeah.
So that you can't until then go on guys again. Exactly. But the guy who plays deal put on way for this character. So, and because he deal, like I said at the beginning, deal would have been looked at when you look at Tucker and Dale, you think he's the sidekick because of his way if this is stereotypical thought of the bigger guy is the sidekick.
So that's why the director was like, no, he's not you the main fucking star. So I'm going to flip that one on its head to because it's deal who saves the day at the end. Well, if you've not seen this, yeah, so you should be watching away watching this. Oh, yeah.
But there's so many little like hints, little funny bits like foreshadowing as well, like in aspects like but the start, as Lee said, says the torn with like when you meet the characters and the fact that the look the way they do and they took a ex on deal to go and talk to the college girl. And he goes, okay, that's fine. Just all you have to do is a compliment and laugh and he walks over with a fucking sigh like full grim breach. I can see Lee.
Fuck and the creepiest fuck and just laughing like. I would then the whole sorry, so the check was the check all upset. Chad, starting doing all these ninja moves and going, Oh, wait a minute. We know what Chad normally does.
Being a chat being an absolute child. But yeah, it's a bit of these stands there with a siren. He's like, okay, it's nothing to hear me so and I'm sure about it. And I love the fact that it just sits above the top of his head.
Like the placement of it was perfect. So that was a little nod to a TV show that deal was in because he was in a show called Reba. Oh, it could be because there's a lot of homage in this. And obviously there's a lot of homage to horror tropes.
So yeah, could have been. It was in a like, I think it only got two seasons by Norca and then direct it a few episodes of it. It was a good show, I'll be honest with you. But we'll not be doing a review on it.
But yeah, I think that might be good because I didn't watching it. I think that might have been a little nod to it. Because that's only thing I can think that I can remember seeing that deal in anything else. Or there's a film called Someone Marry Barry, which honestly cool watch it is hilarious.
It's him is someone called Barry and every French group has a Barry, but just not necessarily with that name. And it's that lovable dickhead of the group that everyone can't stand. I didn't know anything. I was going to ask you a question there.
Who's the Barry and our group? Who would you say? I don't know. So who's the dickhead?
I'm pro. I did say that before he said, you know, the Barry. I did say Michael before I heard the word in the book. Sorry, Michael.
I do not think you're a dickhead. I feel like everybody is somebody else's Barry though. Right. Even in that film Barry has a Barry Barry.
It turns out it's a child's boy. Right. Yeah. I'm not a boy.
I'm trying to think who else Barry is. It's probably me. If you can't think of a name of the person, it's probably his use. So I know I'm the bellen.
So that's fine. I'm happy that everyone gets us. Oh, yes. So yeah.
So he's in that one. Is it really? Yeah. I'm going to check it out.
You should be in there and find out where the Barry is, going to call these are Barry's now. Yes, so come back to this movie as well. I know the four shabby, they did come in a little bit early as well. We're going to the most this shit, it's the whole day home.
That day, but and one of the pillars. Touch and in the fallen thing with the nails down come flying down. Why wouldn't you just take that down? Rather than putting it back.
I go so it would kill us. Yeah. And have to keep reminding out, reminded each other. That's a bit loose.
That's when it comes back and takes out the place sheriff in the most impressive way because the police sheriff wanted to believe they're sorry because like. Because the police sheriff wanted to believe their story because like all these deaths are the most ludicrous and amazing deaths in the movie And it's all self-inflicted But when you're trying to tell a story around trying to pair legs just a pair legs. I said honestly God now I didn't kill him if it was himself like who the fuck would believe them? But the car like I can't look up at the sheriff was kind of on their way of length because these two aren't bad lads They're not like dangerous That's why he probably didn't arrest them when the college kids were like begging them But I think this movie in a nutshell is should you want to call it?
Top-end deal versus evil it would be called miscommunication Yeah, absolutely just not in it You know there's another vision of this movie called to bring deal are evil yes, it's on the DVD and go on they tell them It's from the college kids perspective. Yeah, I couldn't find anything for it for the watch it last night But the only thing I found is a three minute video of the kids sitting in the car there Right where the police officer goes in and it doesn't show you the things in the house It just shows you're walking in and then the kids are screaming because he's coming back out with the nails stuck in his head And it's just what they say so like there'll be stand-ins like seeing deal just holding one of them in the wood ship or something like that So it's basically an air perspective is it? Yeah, with much more ominous and creepy music over the top And it even makes to grand deals voices instead of like sorry Do the other day it's like Read about that everything was like from the perspective of the college kids because we only ever see dealing took us so and there's like It's all Covert, you know, it's all happening in a ridiculous pace and this shouldn't you know, it's all mistakes and misunderstandings and then Then they say no, it's just this is deadly serious. This is a proper horror So I can't be worried about knowing what it is.
So when I was watching it and I go watching back with like again It's a movie you can't watch it over and over but if you watch it for the first time I love the fact that you get excited to how they are gonna die So you kind of think I'm like because you know keep up with the Andy each time like the first F had me in absolute Kings when he thinks He's being chased by a chinsaw but took his busy being in it and sliced into a beehive and the beehives and all the bees are attacking him So he's running around like full The bees with a chainsaw and this kid just starts belting off it and the serious look of surprise when took us running alongside him and the kids Running alongside him they're going. Why aren't you attacking each other? It's kind of like the realization and then running full force and full bent into the branch that Skewism like a popsicle and just he's looking on his face and he's like oh I didn't do this And just the suddenly of having a bee fly and landed on his nose as well I thought that was a nice little touch to it, but yeah on all the deaths that we got which one make would you say was your favorite? I am I love the wood shipper yes I love the wood shipper one and it's probably more Alan Turdick's response than anything else But the reaction yeah for his actual reaction to it with the chainsaw swilling around is all improvised That was him doing his best Texas you got that definitely from Texas chainsaw But that was all it revised as well from him and but yeah definitely wood shipper Who the it's about that he likes to go and he's there a one point and hey for a budget that they had the makeup on here When they pull them legs out the actual like cuz he didn't get past the rib cage And the actual detail that was in that rib cage down to like the belt was unreal Like for the budget that they ended up having so yeah I've been pulling out those well and he's on top of deal We get them off and he pulls them off so that like the torso because all three spaces like no I like to think in-depth in these situations If you had someone I've jumped p.s.
First into a wood shipper Would you keep all the legs and try and pull it out or would you just give up and just like what? Just give up I would literally just stand there and be like this not like after a few seconds Might just go yeah, there's nothing you can't do for all here But he keeps a hold of them legs I don't know if it would have been for near the legs snapped off in the like any hands as he falls down Yeah, I think You've got to give it to him you kept on trying to see them even though the face and everything was gone I don't know how like reconstruction surgery works, but there was no way of coming back from that Definitely not first Maybe legs first maybe a minor being as bad as it was legs first but it's just the way he goes in as well He literally dives into it like arms first Well, yeah, like some of the other deaths as well like when I think they're making the the young lassa contract remember a name I think about name what was your called? Allison was an ally Making a digger on grave and like the poor last like the amount of concussion she would have had after like the amount of time She got smashed over the head with Ibera shovel or a phone off the rocks I'm still scratched the supply for the rocks was that that that's a killer from the start But um just so next to my ex looks pretty good um after the finish digging the shithole and that kid running tripping and then skewing himself again in the hall and like lying on top of deal in the hall is just like How fucked is it? It can use me I know it's deal space though because he's just lying there and he's like slow It's the house law he goes down that ball before he hits the bottom and deals just like kind of screaming But yeah, that poor that poor girl in her head, but even Getting her out the water.
That's another horror trope. How they dragged her out by her arms and pulls her in like even that's another kind of horror Trapped it's the fucking detail in this movie At least just sitting there just reenacting the film as we go I was generally shocked because mainly around the same Um, what's the word? I'm not quite we have length when it comes to movies Kind of like We actually seen anything so I was quite not that I should be but I was quite shocked that you had seen this and when it came out too This was uh mine and vex's first ever film we watched together and we've been together for like 12 Now 13 years I think now tell the truth vex isn't watching she might be which is not watching did you actually watch the movie? Lee or did you get down to some business?
I mean she says that she remembers watching this so I think most of what she's you didn't pull any moves mine and swiss by the man three Oh first it first it only did 17 years ago with spider-man three Dress up a spider-man you can reenact it Oh, there you go 20 years coming up in a few years time You're all concerned I'm sorry but we're certainly trying to run it out Do you know what I was I was just remember I want to just realize sorry I can't talk to dear I want to just realize that they may encounter with the main douchebag's charge and then this charge from nickel back What a coincidence Yes, um, sorry Talk about the other movies so yes, um The only thing again Because you always like when you're watching these type of horror movies as well because you end up screaming at the screen to do like Do the right thing or you do stupid things? I don't think they do anything overly stupid like the college kids do because they're fucking idiots but um Mostly like everything that Tucker and Dale do quite sensible like the way they kind of plan things out and They're rationale towards things as well made sense in my head I thought I would cause because Dale goes oh we'll meet the four in the place We'll get the thing and talk to the girls Are you kidding us? We'll get the place out and there's all these dead college kids running around They're gonna look at one another or somewhere just gonna get locked up I would have to say mental because how can you explain away like the fucked up situation? Look at it explain legs and a wood chipper.
Yep I just I don't know how where that conversation starts or how you even have it So let's play it out here there. So okay, so something in late you could be took her in deal Uh, we'll go we'll make some you could be took and please deal. Okay. Um, I'll be the place on it Hey, hey guys.
What's going on here? Well officer You'll find this um There you go. That's as far as I guess how the hell are you meant to say is arrested? He's gonna call Go on then they what would you say?
They do already come up with the only reason they were responsive These kids just showed up and started killing them That's a lot of my other turnipals that point We have had it do the other day Well, yes, um that needs to be the title of this episode. We have had a do-see of the day Yes I actually love the dog in this as well like the dog is so adorable I guess yeah, and I actually did get quite sad when uh when the When Chad being a dick puts the gun towards the dog's head. I actually did get quite angry at in part of the phone I wasn't nervous though You because of how this movie has flipped everything on its head and like that dog in nothing's happened to that dog That dog's gonna be totally totally fine because otherwise I would not be watching but even chat like chat has no redeemable quality whatsoever No, like none whatsoever from his facial expressions to the way he talks to the way he's like with Ali What did he say? Oh creepy.
He was like Well, you don't even clap you and I We're better than everyone else It's one of the things that you're looking at straight and you want to punch it But how did you feel when they're given the very cruega back story? I liked it Because again, it just falls into the horror element of it. Yeah, the fact that they're you know, they given it They give a kind of bit of an explanation to her at all Right. So the fact that like you say his mum like was in essence, uh, taten advantage of what we don't know the full Like back story.
It's implied I just want to say that I'll work basically Same advantage of and like said he's grandma the legend but he was basically born from a hildly murdering maniac So I just love the fact that that seems like he's kryptonite is to know that he's the fucking hillbilly But the given like say maggle my is like I almost Um, like like survival ratio like he was in the cabin when like said it was sitting down and Ali was doing all her Psychology strip shit that was kind of working But then you got the idea of coming in with the weed blower that takes out The young lasses fierce in the most brutal way and then he gets seven fire and then makes it the blonde lass the blonde cheelader That's that's the way to basically start smoking and then For some reason the cabin then blaws up with the crazy hillbilly still in there And he fucking survives it half his half his face has been off and he's just went to careers But that is but that is full on horror icon Nism right there when you can get up and walk away from a fire and still be ready to fucking fight That is that that is like the borderline of where horror icons Lions or maybe Chad could fall under that category It's actually jett's right the 13th jeers and it could be perfect sadly the 14th is jads dear Um, yeah, there you go Chad he is one of the biggest tickets in any flum that i've watched but I do feel like he it does personify a lot of what people think they could be like in one of these situations Oh, yeah, yeah, he picks up the axe and he's like let's go and get them I've watched like any horror film i've watched like why don't it's just a normal person pick up an axe and hit them with it And he's like let's get the axe and go and kill them with it That is the correct plan to go with it I mean, I feel like I would die if i did that Oh, yeah, probably i'd end up swinging it and like hitting like me back or something That would just be me but you see that he's the most annoying person on screen. Have you seen the babadook Because the kid on that is even worse and that's saying something but yeah, chad did Then like say we're going to like more horror horror movie tropes as well Like we've got the heroes like oh, yeah, we're gonna make the big getaway driving away from like the big explosion And keep taking eyes off the road and driving headlock headfirst into a frockin tree And they did that and i was like, okay, i'm okay with this but within all good horror movies Especially over certain times you've got a team to award mill There's got to be a good old wood mill where there's gonna be a dance mill in distress and the big final fights Now again with this film It's there's very few negatives or bad things i can see about it, but i was a bit flat on the final fights It didn't go nor is it didn't live up to expectations of what what's been going on throughout i think So yeah, i think it did i love the fact that when he throws something at the robe it pings off and he even he's shocked at himself like oh Like i looked there's so much really and comedy time and towards the end of this movie Um, the girl with cigarette went just because especially when he's like, oh, we should have really moved all that explosives before now When it's when she she literally she can see what's going on around her she can see the fact everything's gonna blow up and she still takes After all and she still enjoys it that is just pure brilliance time and rise in comedy Also dale does an amazing one at the end of the fight scene when the doors are open and he just ships them And walks away Again with this movie tiny little details. It's funny. You said that about the curling of drag because I'm gonna take it overboard here now.
Um, it's it's going back tomorrow rattle all over again when brodie's on the story about his uncle and the flight And i'd say the Like the turbulence kicking i think they're all gonna crash the all the way about the junk and start Wapping one off because i think they're gonna die so they want to have at least one nice thing happen to them before they die So in essence, it's like she's taken the last drag before And next like at least gives her body that little bit of enjoyment before she gets blown up So it could be that type of element to it. But did they come? So this goddamn it there's some things you just don't even talk about I'll be the bill hicks of this episode I'll kill even feel hicks Damn it kill. Yeah, we need to do it more.
The final fight the final fight is amazing But I think it's the very end bit It's like imagine watching halloween and it's like like a might as an unstoppable force. He can only be stopped like kamamayo tea It was just ruin it. Yeah, which I think that was a bit of a let down for how the kids But it's only that genius that deal because like he always says he remembers the weird stuff And the fact that he knew that he was astmatic he knows what's income of my own tea And he knows he was like two and two together. It'll be all right once he gets he's in here like I love that aspect of it Just imagine if like Freddie kurugranum could be taken out with fucking kamamayo tea.
I'd be all right I'm like shit I think I'm on the same way as I'm because Lee is a little bit as well because all the way through the movie all these kids have took themselves out So I would have loved it if like you see a Chad done something in Chad ways and his fuck up made it To himself out. I think that would have been more than Keaton with the storylines that we got Um, I know I'm being thrown out that like the window and we had the whole mic on my his Esc where they're all locked down and he's like lying down the thing I was half expecting them to pan away and go back and Just get up and walk off like what we say Actually just I see at the end that they're still looking for the person Yeah, yeah, I generally think that maybe this is a character that wanted to keep open Maybe this is something that they did just want to keep In their wheelhouse because maybe the writer was thinking so he's never he has brought he has done scripts But every one of them and the guy who plays deal become best friends during this movie Their chemistry is real because of how much time they spent together beforehand And they've both said really happy to do the sequel really happy to do more with this But it has to be the right script and everything that they've been handed They've not liked so there is there's obviously some some things that have been in the works And I think they wanted to keep Chad as a we'll just keep him in the wheelhouse. Maybe we could use him again Yeah, definitely Well, like the start of the film gives that a way because the start of the film chads little Ivy still hiding out in that burnout Like the cabin could he takes out the news report that's at the end at the start of the movie Living that hillbody life. Yeah, but like I said the attention the data in this movie is brilliant Like throughout this movie took a lose these fingers and as a joke towards the end They say we've reattached your fingers and it's probably one of the girls that got the fingers removed It was all probably the only found so he's got this thing in the only like high on morphine He's like oh, look right And even when he given the beer because he wouldn't be able to bend the fingers because I've just been reattached I've just been reattached I've just raised out of a bandage But again, that's the one I've got the joke But uh, it opens the kind of beer one-handed and does everything so like that that's well Well done because you could have easily just put it with two hands and like you wouldn't even let them down in the order to the laugh But then the joke at the end is had me flawed where I've given other bull now Given these mea twos like a complete hildily psychopath advice on uh to go in for go for what he wants and basically make sure he Piss off And he's talking Ali again gives her a present as a like a helmet which again is a callback to all the times He's just Flowers then all you hear is swim behind where this guy hildily hick knocks out this poor woman in the bull Nani and put the throw over the shoulder and he's just like Slang on yeah, I got a guy's I got a Fucking hell deliverance is real Yeah, it's the fact that he says go be yourself.
Yeah I forgot about the fingers and that's another amazing one Where Unrupts them and deals reaction isn't like oh no my friend. Oh no, they cut off his bowling fingers Like how would you know is he's bowling fingers though? Like that must be a quite special fingers They know that they're the ball and fingers did he pull and they'd exit so you do it to 100? Oh, who knows?
I love the fact that he even deal doesn't bat an eyelid when he's looking at the nail varnish on the finger And he's like yeah, it's fine. They're totally great And I generally thought until today's view and they were brothers right I didn't realize they were best friends until I'd re-washed it I've always thought for them however long these two were brothers there was Again, I know I'm back to the start of this when I mentioned this because I know like they're getting quite a common thing When we talk about like moving and stuff like what would you do next if you were doing like a sequel or Next because this could be like almost like the brand new Albert and Costello It could be like tokaran deal versus Dracula Tocquaran deal versus the creature from the black lagoon and everything would work in essence not where I think that is absolutely perfect Only because I'm starting to learn more about having a Costello through different monsters These two fit that so well this whole genre of what they've created is it's because it's a different style of horror The cabinet in the woods was a different style of horror. It kind of like it took it wasn't taking the piss In a way it was more pain ark or pain homage and this does the same but in a different aspect It flips everything of what you believe horror to be and changes it completely And I think it would work perfectly with yeah like tokaran deal versus wolfman. They can fuck Larry I Love I do love that idea of it But did anyone else I mean I know what evil dead is a main theme throughout this But at the end with the chainsaw did anyone else see ash in Chad especially with like the denim the shirt the chainsaw in his hand Yeah, I think it was written on like all different past types of horror and stuff and you mentioned it before about Carbon and woods with this coming out right about the same time because I think carbon and woods Like I had a bit of budget and like let's be honest Like tokaran deal is I called like funny and stuff but coming woods the story and like the way it's told is a little bit Done high mark if that makes sense.
That's not me. Yeah, shit non But with them coming out at the same time there's always gonna be if we're gonna about the same things one Always does that any other than this is why tokaran deal did go under the radar for as much Totally totally agree. Um because coming in the woods is money behind it You can see it runs there much all the way through it and it came out the year after Thor as well So they had their helms worth factor in there as well If they do a sequel they should still keep it low budget and do like found footage and just have that I'm like trying to make a documentary about what happened On that night and they're going through the words and then I don't know something happens Like they find the voodoo things from the Blair witch or something similar to that and have it like some kind of mysterious like Of course to find it. Yeah Why don't we just do it?
We'll cast used to it anyway, so we'll just get you some flannel shirts Oh, I think he does a really good tokaran deal would be epic We'll get Chris to be the hillbilly because he's from York and he's a small as well So he's a different from turn so we'll get away with that The even when they go into the cabin for the first time and they go to their holiday home I love it, but they're so excited to their holiday home And when even they go in and see all the like the phones and that don't even they find that fucking weird like Oh, you know the old people who live here. Hmm interesting Like even they find that a bit disturbing they not like totally taken with the decor So if we were gonna do like a follow up or like a follow up on type thing from tokaran deal Would it be sure work better? Yeah, or would you prefer a movie format? I would I just think I think of um Ashwes' legal date TV sure and think that that would kind of fit in with the same wheelhouse as that And how that works because Ashwes' legal date the first season of that was fucking tremendous Yeah, and I think this would do exactly the same So because I know you mentioned said that it's on script So I wonder why this hasn't been as what the fact that at least said before This only made 200,000 on its original release could that be putting them off?
No, it's got nothing to do with the money at all There have been given a few scripts like somebody said But it's just the one thing I think is good enough They have such high expectation of it the money doesn't even come into it They did this knowing because this was put to Sundance first Sundance and it won a few awards of Sundance but outside of that Nobody gives it. Yeah, nobody wanted to take this on and I don't know if that's where the hesitation could be By your type thing so they got you didn't want us when we first ordered now Yes, now following like for years we wanted to be if we were gonna do it It's gonna be right type thing potentially It's just what all I read was that they've had a few scripts thrown on their way one is 2017 But they just they weren't good enough they didn't match the energy of the first You obviously hold this in such high regard which they should They don't want to do anything less to tint that one true I agree entirely but it's just more people do that. Yeah, don't you? It's very unusual to be in the horror genre as we've noticed as well It's a lot of good.
There's a lot of bad. There's a lot of rugs on me, but yeah There's a lot of Jason and Spierce and They will depend Jason Spierce and I love Jason next it's just such an entertainment film It's not a good film. It's an entertainment film We're gonna talk about good films like as you said there's so many different aspects like I wouldn't put Tupper and Deal on that sound harsh in any of my top fives No, I mean either But it's a film I can watch like year in year out Halloween goes around it is a film that you can put on and let's kick back And you don't even it's not ones where you're like watching Tasteful concentration But when you're watching it there's little nuances and the last specs that you do pick up on and you kind of get and enjoy more like Like the nail varnish on the finger I got his ball and hunt but now you know there's ball and fingers But now it's got to say how do you know these ball fingers did he sniff them fingers to the smell like ball and balls other good being extra Shined these are the questions we need in oars. They're just that course Would you like to see a crossover?
I think this is one of the ones I could like Tupper and deal versus Tupper and deal and Ash versus the evil dead. Yeah We probably be too easy though doing it that way I'd want to do a crossover I'd want to like put out landish and I crazy like Tupper and deal versus ghostly s have them wandering in New York or like Where's like the become friends with Sidney Prescott and ghostly comes in front of them down or something like that Something it would have to be something not a simple idea. It would have to be something so outlandish Like this won't work that it will work. Yeah, because I know we're trying to run like that I was a castell of and like that style of like them versus but it's just like then oh Then team and up with someone to verse someone I love that and I do ash is instantly the first person that comes to mind Because of how much evil dead is running through this fucking film That's single it would just get like it because it would work and I would enjoy it But you would get all the fans and people saying it's just a rehash of what's already went before So if you were gonna do that, yeah I think one of the funniest ones that's popped in my head Tupper and deal versus Chucky No I've had a bastard doll she has them down and like they have tippy trying to seduce them and stuff like that Has to be in the woods though everything it with these guys has to stay in their woods in their territory Because it's the only way it works you take them out of it you lose that fun I think you would lose that funny side to it Because again you go back to the beginning with that dead hand stare the deal That is something going much.
I spit on your grave. I swear that scene is in there Oh, I can't watch that but it's not a nice one It's not but it is a fucking amazing revenge for them. Laura Jackson just said in the chat Neil meets predator Yes, Laura that it sounds amazing With aliens involved too. Oh my god.
Let's get some let's get some air dinner more seen My my brain never goes down the correct route and I'm not even thinking of horror Um, I'm sick I mean it would never happen because this is too big of a property But like took her and deal crossed with like harry pot Rossoming and I'm saying You know Through the woods by all of the um Yeah, basically it could be like took her and deal as like just a couple of muggles team and other some wizards to take on like Some kind of like Voldemort kind of dudes You got took her and deal as I troops number hind them. I quite like that. That's quite cool And the closest one Good idea. Scooby-Doo meets tok her and deal that could be a question But if that say that would work Yeah, if it's still it would still go on if it didn't kill off the shore In an episode of supernatural that again would fit in quite nicely.
I'll have the fight of the flannels But That would be amazing. I'm thinking of all these like little short videos we could do supernatural and And uh took her and deal spin off of the the flannel shirts So what we're gonna do now? We're gonna get you and Lee dressed up as tok her and deal and do a little cameo The video was doing impressions on them saying bye tok her. Let's go kill this motherfucker right now You know this only one swear word Only what?
Only one The army This is what happens in moon china's several less death but my ex-law what what's the one swear word? Fuck all right. You say it's deals is um something about getting him in the fucking head. Oh I'm gonna put my boot down his fucking throat Yeah, that's it.
I mean I know he's a shit because he should have then he stops himself But fuck is the only swear word in there and it was improvised all right. Yeah, so what was it? Was it 15? League I know it's what I know it's called 87 percent of runt-runt's That doesn't matter cause they were already proved that runt-runt's doesn't connect You can buy them so that doesn't really matter these days now.
Oh, I didn't know you do that I've based my poor movie experience on how many job names and it was Did you do it was only an hour and a half long as well? It is a short movie you can like 90 minute movie as Kevin Smith says if you can't do a story in 90 minutes It's not worth telling. Oh Probably isn't it a little bit here then so possibly Can kids watch a grand deal languages strong and includes f word and shit word Once fucking once the kid watches this the nightmares of the like When the little things a little things when he jumps headfirst into the drug I can't remember the word for it now where he gets eaten by the mulch thing That Like if you saw that the kids can be fucked up for a long time. Yeah, but yes, so I say I know we've talked about like a little bit so What rate would you give us moving Lee?
What do you think I'm gonna give it? Gonna leave the man who doesn't like to buy the law five I think I give the last thing we watched there a four possibly I think before the 24 hours Things have happened in that time I mean, this is me. I generally can't remember what we did if someone asked me about episodes and they did I As we found out when we'd done the quiz like during the 24 hours dream I got my questions right Apart from the monsters episodes and it's only because I've pre-recorded about five episodes So in my head I'm ahead. I'm living in the future not the past So please give it a five what would you give it up?
I definitely say a five a solid five. It gives you everything you want in a horror movie, but the other way around yeah M it's like As I said before, it's not the best movie out there But it's very hard to knock the movie down for anything from what it is. It knows exactly what it is and it's entertaining So yeah, I can't say anything other than the five for it just because There's nothing I would change. Literally you could go through it with like say And it knows exactly what it is and it doesn't try and take itself seriously And the best thing about it though as well.
It doesn't treat the audience like idiots. No It doesn't stupid. It doesn't dumb it down or make things stupid for people as well I totally agree. You don't want to come out of this thinking like Whether taking the piss like oh look at them taking the piss out of horror like who the fuck did the garlic know if you can do it Like because that was the genius way that they did it by reversing everything around was fucking hilarious And I do really think if this didn't kick it up if this hadn't come out at the same time as a cabinet awards It would have got a bigger reception and again This might be made Blonde Smortwood's ass as well This was in the same category of scream as reinventing the genre Because scream potentially scream come out and did it if it's a way about how slash movies were made Farbate on a more serious note But this did the same thing it came out and took the piss out of like the cabin and like the whole Like backward Hilda these types of like the hills of eyes Wrong turn this movie like and I gave it dead did basically turn everything like that on its face and made Like almost like a comedy horror.
So I do think unfortunately Well, say unfortunate because you got cabins as well Yeah, this came out even the year before or two years before or a few years after This would have been held on a much higher regard than it probably did at this time I know it started getting out a lot more following and I know when we announced we were doing this episode A lot of people quite excited on the fears with phd a lot of people go excited on instagram as well Um, it was quite refreshing in all that this this film has a lot of love out there It's absolutely it's one of the ones that just like you said earlier, you'll always put it on You know at least watch it once a year guaranteed and it's so easy watching It's not over complicated the story flaws from a to b There were two movies for all that these influence was texas chainsaw and Hills have eyes two movies that run concurrently through this one evil dead one and wrong turn was the other So they've run concurrently through the movie the whole time now. I've only seen the remake of wrong turn So I can't see it for sure or not. It's not bad The original bet of the spin six other wrong turns as well. So as I learned when we reviewed the last one So what are you your views on this league anything you want to add to that?
I think it's been captively. Um, I can't think of anything else Just there's just so many amazing one liners in this one Just none of them by the kids all the way to do Even just simple things like hey, you're okay It's perfect Every single one that they say is cool. I think the running theme through it as well is it's a film about friendship And I see a I'm not judging a book bag It's cover as as we all know and as we all should abide by um as we've all been judged and we've all been looked at in Weirs and thoughts might not be worth much and stuff I don't know what everyone's proved themselves in certain things Not many people sort of 24 hours stream like us guys like even Lee Fonzley Like and there's a video of him from the sleep on there as well as you want to check that out Yeah, you didn't even get away from that like it's still out there It's always out there at least no one's gonna be able to see me having a meltdown come seven eight o'clock in the morning That's gone I think it's already overshadows by the amazing Jake any son of a bitch It's the scariest thing of it anything you want to do Want to put in horror movie that's a horror movie all right there It was the best thing it was before we we went on to do that second to do that section Paul had gone to the toilet and Jake literally would spit into his microphone Sorry, sorry. I've got a surprise for you It was like so I'm like sitting there waiting for to see what's about to happen and then fuck me It was worth it.
I've watched that video just be open a bit So 10 times now probably more Oh, it's brilliant I'm too competitive I'm too competitive I'm not Oh, I'll end up hurting one of you as the last time I went bowling I've flown behind us I'm not good. I'm not good. Yeah, it could be Could be like it was it who being free I'm type of it was like thing if we do recorded Yes, you just know the big Lebowski quarter becoming out all the time So yes, so I know it's not a long episode tonight So I'm sorry guys actually this is the recovery episode after like the long one last week But still not over it It was like that name We have next so the next episode is another cult classic where the wonderful Sam and Dan are reviewing me Todos it's me It's like I'm on the ball guys. It's fine.
It's okay. Um the one full it's done And Sami are reviewing the cult classic idle hands which has a lot of different boxes and a lot of different themes in that movie Um, it stores Devin Sawyer I actually after the Casper I was after Casper. Yes, very much after Casper. Yes, very different performance.
Yes But yes, um, thanks. Yeah, please watch that watch idle hands as well It is one of my talks as well. It's very much the same being as a very much a cool classic It's such a good episode because we break down things and we obviously if you watch monsters, you know, we factoids shit And so we are giving out our factoids, but it's just trying to figure out where the monster lies in this It was quite few so it is a really interesting watch.
