So we've just finished doing the live episode of Nodie of North on the Sunday. And the monsters episode went live on the Monday.
Some will be recording on Wednesday. And then Goodwill will be live on Friday. All that will have happened before you even watch this episode. Yes, it's so weird.
I do it on monsters. I'm like, the live episode, oh no, that was last night. And the good was, oh yeah, good was Friday. This is all in the future now.

You're watching Aliens. Oh, yes. I have been doing my research already for the next month's episode, which you will watch the following day after this, which is Xenomorph. Xenomorph.
And if anyone is Xenomorph fan or don't know what Xenomorph is, it's the Aliens that look like a penis. There's my take. I have some interesting takes too on that. Especially after what I've just watched.
But yeah, it's going to be funny. Honestly, if it's anything like Wolfman, it's going to be a fun episode. Nothing's going to be like Wolfman. That's the bar.

Of course he's now. And the best thing about it as well, because we are recording this. Sammy won't say it. I'm not going to have to say it.
No, no, so Sammy's not going to know who the Goony is. So I've been watching the Goonies again. And others, other than Spot and Christopher, which I post to put his picture up now, Sammy won't say. So doing a nice chuckle so far for that, because Christopher is a Goony.
We've also seen the lovely Sarah and Lee are Goonies as well. And as I've told, I got wrong for using an old photo of Sarah, how to start with the best photo of Sarah. I could use. Sorry, Sarah.
We have another Goony that I've spotted. And I can't believe I missed this one. And you know what? I'm going to really annoy Sam as well, because I'm not even a Neem the Goony.
I'm just going to put the picture up and let it just live out. It's a Goony fantasy for a little while. I'm going to be honest. It's not the best Photoshop job, just because literally I've been out to the beach at the end, we've done some shopping and literally got in and went right.

As they end up, though, I've actually caught up with a very good idea for us today. Because you know how we have got all the episodes that a lot of the nearly up north. Now I would like call the Scooby Gang. Shall we call them?

The record beats and the nerds. They haven't seen a lot of the older episodes. So let's be honest, a lot of the older episodes don't look great because we didn't know what we're doing. So it's basically just recorded off Zoom, tried to put them online.
Now we've got all this technology and know how and stuff like this. I can download the old videos and shine them up and make them look pretty. And re-upload them to either Facebook or say other avenues as well. Just to showcase how all this style and maybe those make sale of ones we've done interviews and stuff.
Just to show the growth we have. Just to show how much we've grown since then. Me it is two years ago. Yeah, not just in the belly.
So like say we're growing in the table. That's me not some. Some are beautiful as always. I don't want to pretend that that way.
I've already offended Donna. I got great all over today as well. She wasn't very happy. That doesn't surprise me in the slightest.

But it is one of our dear friends who's been on the podcast for your birthday and even though I'll probably be the most social re-opman person there, we have to make an appearance and actually give us a call. Celebrate. Yeah. We have to celebrate.
It's one of my oldest and dearest friends. Nona God. I don't know how long now. It's a long, long time.
She's not an age though, bless her. She's still a lot of theatre. No, she's still from the DM era. Up until now, she has not changed.
But I love her dealing. I can't wait to celebrate her for your birthday. And that is what we are doing on Sunday when you guys are all watching this. Yeah.

Yeah. So it was just because we didn't have anything planned because like say with the podcast now, a lot of the stuff has changed, a lot of the stuff is up in the air, a lot of the stuff that we've still got a lot of stuff still planned. But we're trying to do a more generic and not overwhelmed. Because to be honest, the podcast was getting a little bit over long at times.
Like I'm not saying that's anyone's fault. No, it's not a negative. No, but we're trying to keep it more compact. So just sort of what could be an interesting topic.
And I always like when me and Sam do talk about a movie as well. Because like say the clerks episode was brilliant. Clerks three, exorcist, Goonies, Lost Boys, back to the future. When we've just sat down and just broke down a movie, it's been fun.
But I thought it would be an interesting one to talk about. Because to me, when I watched this when I was younger, it was very hard to watch. It was a difficult watch, shall we say? But I found quite interesting as well.
Because I made a post in the Facebook group about Roger Roberts and saying, did anyone, what did anyone think of it? Did anyone get it straight away? Because me and my friends were the first tot Roger. It didn't quite get the premise at the start.
And it was interesting to say that everyone said, oh, we loved it from the start. It's one of my favorite films of all time and stuff. And it is now one of my favorite films. But I remember watching at the time, because the advertising has come away.
You thought it was going to be this cartoon, this zany, wacky, themed, like cartoon. And the premise was absolutely out of the world. Like Disney, Warner Brothers, every cartoon combined and come together to play out like a movie. And the new character, which is Roger and you thought, is this going to be the next breakthrough thing?
But what we got was quite sinister, dark, adult-themed crossover that not till I got hit as a teenager, that kind of hit home how good this movie was. And I think that to me, back in the day, a lot of people felt the same way. I don't know if you felt the same way as me. I don't think I did.
I think my sister would be on your way of length. But I generally can't remember how I felt about just the hand you, I loved it. But maybe because I was watching a lot of horror back then, that it just didn't phase me. But my sister was terrified, terrified of the judge, that scared her.
My dad dressed up for a charity event is Roger Rabbit. And that absolutely terrified her as well, especially when her father took the big head off and it was him. She shot herself. Not literally, but she did not show herself literally.
No, no, no. But she, but that really scared her. But for me, it is a one that I used to go back to quite frequently because of just how much I absolutely loved. And it probably was more the Eddie Balion side of things that are liked more than the actual cartoon side, even the cartoon side is really fun and you can't deny that.
But I like the Eddie Balion side of it. Like the film Noire aspect type thing. Yeah, yeah. No, I don't agree.
And that to me has always been like a standard. Like I love the genre. I love like anything to do with like film Noire. Like the all like chewing the scenery, like the DM that comes in.
And like the trying to get to the bottom of like the mystery. Only thing I was missing was like, as you said, the Gumshu voice over, like you know what I mean. Yeah, over the top of it. But it is right up in my street because I love classic, I love vintage.
What we would classes vintage. I love the 50s, I love by the 40s and the 50s because it's kind of like a mixed era. And so yeah, it's technically it's like, it's so pleasing for me because it's everything that I love, the fashion, the suits, the shoes. I mean, oh.
I love the shoes later with this. A lot of shoes in this. Yeah. But yeah, I absolutely love that aspect of it.
So that's probably why it's still even today. 40 years old and still absolutely love it. Yeah, 1988 came out. 1988 was it?
1988, yeah. Generally thought of it was later. And always like a lot of people do think it was a 90s one. Well, it's close to being a 90s one.
But it was revolutionary for the time. Like there's only been, I think again, I could be wrong about this one or the film I can remember. that's done in the CMVN, which was only done last year, which was the Rescue Rangers type thing, where you used live action and all different types of animation mixed in. I think part of other films as well have done it before, like Mary Poppins, like George's Dragon.
It's just to name a few of the two to the extent that this was done. It was just crazy work that must have gone in. And I think the performances as well, because that's the one thing that you don't really get. Because if you watch the behind the scenes and the movie or anything, you think there's a lot of special effects, but it's the practical effects, the things that the do to make the mesh so impressive and brilliant.
Something as simple as when Roger Bloars threw the window and leaves the rubber print, like rabbit hole on the blinds and the window. That was one of the hardest effects that they had to pull off for like a 30 second gag. Because they actually did the glass break and it followed the exact way and how they did it was just like, they had actually invented processes to work. I love when movies do that.
This is why I love watching the Jurassic Park. Netflix one because they were inventing stuff to make it happen. Like they knew what they wanted to do. So they're like, okay, we're gonna make this happen.
I love stuff like that. You know, I'm a circle for practical effects, more practical, the better. It's the idea of real life people talking to cartoons. That's like, for me, I'm sitting there going, this is generally movie magic because I can't in my head, even now sitting here and go, how?
How do they do that? Because the point where Bob Hoskins and Roger are that close to each other, they're practically touching and you can't see any mess up. No, definitely. I think that's a testament to how good Bob Hoskins was.
Oh, me, Resin Pizzi was such an brilliant actor. I don't think many people would have pulled off the level that he did in this movie as well. It feels like the role was basically written from, if you had anyone, let's be honest, anyone told anyone better looking, anyone, if he'd done a proper gumshoe or 50's movie star look, it wouldn't have worked. It would have taken a bit of the gloss away.
I think he's raw and real, because he could have all that after that as well. He could have really chewed it, couldn't he? He could have really chewed the scenery on it, but his physical comedy is you can't touch it in this movie. No, that's in the web.
Oh, oh, he's handsome. And just these interactions were Robert Roger as well. I know I actually had a model of Roger on set when they were playing around and stuff like the guy that was doing his voice. I can't remember the guys near now.
I do have Wikipedia up just because I just wanted to look at the voice actors more than anything. Roger was played by Charles Pleasehe, Pleasehe. I know he's done loads of other different voice actors, like Rawls and stuff like that. Like, no one else, please.
Yeah, he's a trim and deal back in the future. He's been in part three. Yeah, he's got all these credits behind his name. But the scenes that always jump out in our sphere strong in mind is like the scenes when Roger and Eddie's handcuffed together and they're trying to hide from the Weasels and like stuff where putting them in the sink and trying to sort it off.
Then like these little things, when he pulls his hand out, he's like, you could have put your hand out. Not anytime, just at the funniest moment. And I love the idea as well, like how clever it is, having someone who's investigating a crime that he hits cartoons or he hits tunes. That was just a nice and, because when you think about how can you hear the tune?
Or the negative with the storyline, so believable, that it's sympathetic as well. But like all the different elements, like the characters, everyone plays as part to the team. It's just one of those movies that it's hard default. And that's probably one of the reasons why I wanted to talk about because I think now more than anything else, it should be getting like, it's time to shine.
It's time to be. It is timeless, but you would think now it should really be dated, but it's not, it's not dated in the slightest. And I always think movies like of that caliber, and in that setting as well, in that time period, will never be like dated. There's just something special about it, and there's definitely something special about this.
The characters in it, it's just fantastic. Yeah, and there's moments where it's just like things that you thought this shouldn't work. Like the Daffy Duck and the Donald Duck, like piano saying that fight off, just putting that randomly in the middle of a movie for no reason. Well, for the reason of it just being absolutely entertaining as fuck.
And just sitting there hollering laughing at it. So, interest in fact, and I know this is not monsters, but interest in fact. Oh, some of the fact boys are coming out now. Fact boys, oh my god, I'm using them on this show.
Mel Blank does the voice of books, Daffy, Pocky Pig, Tweety and Sylvester, but they are voiced back in 1989. Right. So you either use his voice from 1989 to put into this movie because he died in the movie. Oh, right.
He died in 1990. Yeah. So it's all footage from him. So how that's such a homage to Ramgo.
They are his characters. So to use them in this big mass of motion picture and not get a replacement in I think is beautiful. No, perfect. And it's nice that they did that as well because it probably would have lost it if they used different voice actors or not.
Yeah. Because it's a weird movie, as you see, because it's a cartoon, but it's a class as one of those as a class as a Disney movie. That's where a lot of the people like Confusion, always come with Roger Rabbit as well. And with a lot of times as well, there is a lot of different arguments that do come about with studios.
Just a lot of the recent Spiderman issues and stuff, how difficult it can be to get studios to play nice. And for them to allow them to use such a wide variety of characters as well in different ways, like your 70s Sam getting blown out of like Toon Town, like all of our mens and stuff. And then makes a bugs and you know, skydiving from that building, like having them together, that was a maze in the sea. And it's even more me as a now to think about how what they must have went through to get the permission to be able to do that as well.
Yeah. For us as watching as kids, you're just like, I mean, Mickey and Bo, you don't think of the fact that this is fucking iconic, that you have two of the heads of two different productions sitting next to each other. Like, it doesn't get any bigger than them too. Really.
In when you come down to cartoons, bugs and Mickey, they are absolutely synonymous with their own brand. They have them sitting next to each other, talking to each other. Fucking mind blown to think about it. Especially to dear, because it will never happen again.
It was never happening again. No, people. It's I think all the time greed and money becomes a big massive factor. But back then, I just I don't know.
I just felt like they wanted to just want to make a really good fucking film. Oh, 100%. I would like to think that there wasn't a lot of negotiation going on. I think I just would like to think that they're like, yes.
We've got this idea. Let's make it work. I'll sign. And I just I don't I open to this open to this.
I didn't even think about how massive that actually that actually just there. Two interactions alone. I never like Donald Duck and Daffy Dog. That's even that's like massive.
100%. That's why I was always whole this in Harry Carter because I've got the child of enemies I've watching. There was kids, anyone who grew up like say, our age range, even younger or if they were brought up well. And the parents didn't hear them and not show them classic cartoons and type thing.
Yeah, for me, it was them elements I appreciated as a kid. But as an adult, the jokes are so amazing. Like the baby is a baby urban. Yeah.

But you know what? They could have gone that ham with it. They could have gone that camp with it and had Eddie being exactly like them. Like in that kind of genre but they didn't.
The torn Eddie down. Yeah. To not... To not balance...
Kind of balance with their... their campness. No, definitely. I think Bob Hoskins like these elves a lot of credit for his performance as Eddie because the character is not likeable.
He's busy down in his look. An alcoholic kind of just on the bottom type thing but you're still room for him. And you kind of want to see him do well because the people he's around see what he was or what he can be because he's girlfriend Dolores. Like when he tries to break up and say, oh you should get yourself a good man.
And she goes, I've already got a good man. So it's like people see that in a man and the performance does come out with Bob Hoskins as well. But not to say this is a hilarious and funny movie but it's scary. And the elements that do break here and like even something is silly.
If I said to you, oh you should watch this movie and you'll get upset over a carton shoe going in the dip. You think that is the most ridiculous thing you'll hear about Jesus Christ. That was brutal. And the scene in the movie for either as well and it was just like, what the fuck am I watching?
It was almost like watching a moustache of my store for car news. Oh my god, it's then eyes. It's the eyes. I can't look at it.
And I don't know if that's not the bit that scared Michaela. The idea of dip though. Yeah. Like oh my god.
That is that's brutal. Was it like 70% turretine something like that? So anything that can destroy like paint or ink was put into it. I think so again such a clever premise that you don't even think about just because all the things that's going on and around it.
But like you said, the character is in an eating the scenery. Christopher Lloyd, is that please take a bow? Massively like, sir, this is your show. He was absolutely phenomenal as the judge.
And it is the judge who scares Michaela half to death. And it's the end of it where obviously his voice is voice just like this. As a big reveal. Spoilers is that it was the judge who killed Eddie's brother and he was a bad tune.
It was a very bad tune. But they never find out what kind of tune he was. And just the finalised argument that we had on the Facebook group, Guilfi is a fucking dog because Guilfi in this movie says, oh, yeah, you know dog. But Guilfi in or cow, he's a dog.
I always thought he was a dog. Yeah. He's got, he's got almost like, that's a town to use. And yeah, I always thought he was a dog.
Cow. Yeah, someone tried to say that was a cow idiot. Oh, no, he's definitely a wolf wolf. And but I do like the fact that I have original characters in here.
Well, obviously the wiggles. And the car. Yeah. But from Cara's amazing.
Always want a car like that. Yes, loved it. The bullets. The bullets are.
I don't know you can buy them. You can buy them. Buy the gun and the bullets in like a set. I've never been able to say it.
It's amazing. But the whole personal, each bullet having like, hey, Eddie Valiant, it's time to wake up. But then when you shoot them, they do different things as well. Yeah.
The big gorilla, like with the monkey suit opening, like the store, he was an original character, I believe. Yeah. And the original of all originals, Miss Jessica Ravis. So let's all just take a moment to appreciate Jessica, shall we?
She goes past the screen with a very voluptuous and bubilish herself. Who could be formed with Jessica? I have never, when I was younger, because I was so into like my boy's toys, I never appreciated femaleism within like my world until I met her. It was like her and Elvira were like my feminine eye-opener.
Like, oh, that's what my body can do. No, no, nobody can do that. No, actually. It was very high standards that I have never ever been able to meet.
But it was femininity that I'd never encountered before. I've never wanted to play a pattigade so much in my life. Oh. Then the fact that she is voice by fucking a mea's and Kathleen Turner, who is not credited in this movie?
She's not. She's not credited as the voice. She is the voice, but she never got a credit for it. And I think that's on her.
She didn't want it. Right. It's okay. Did not know what that's.
Not credited. Yeah. But every saying that Jessica Ravis is in is just breathtaking. And then, as you said, movie magic in all the way.
It's movie magic. So here, Jessica Ravis' voice was performed by Kathleen Turner, but her singing voice was performed by Amy Irvin. And only Irvin got the credit. Right.
Okay. Interesting. Yeah. Yes.
I always, it was one thing I always remember when it would come down like interesting facts about Roger Rabbit is that Kathleen Turner never got credited for it. I just knew it was me love a redhead. Start trying this one. I think it's the way a lot of male fantasy Keum when it came to redheads because she's the ultimate.
Yes. Redhead. The ultimate. And how does she keep that dress on?
I'll never understand. Well, there comes to an Irvin with that one. Okay. Like with a lot of the Disney movies as well, there was some Irvin myths that were true and some Irvin myths that were completely fake.
The Irvin myth that was true was on the rescuers movie when they're going down the flight to a thing. One of the windows actually has a photograph of a naked woman because one of the Disney employees had been let off a decor but told they've finished the work for that year. So they did put an image in that I believe it's being since taken out. I think it has been, but I have seen the original because people look, I don't want it on being a jester.
Like you heard it is probably on there too. That's not right. Because it wasn't found out until people got it on like Blu-ray and David Lee where they can go through it by three. Oh, like HD and it's like, whoa, what's that?
What's that in that corner in that there? But yes, there was an Irvin myth about Jessica as well that when she fell out the taxi cab with Eddie and he drives through the dick that when a skirt comes up and her legs could become a kimbo or you could see the color of her drips. But that was fake. That was just fake news and I think it was just some good wheels online shall we say.
Doing their own little spittics and editing certain things in there that was never there. I can confirm through vast research. Master Master Research. That was not true.
That was never in the kind of Roger Rabbit unfortunately. Unfortunately, she's here. Unfortunately, but she is a fantastic character. Yes.
Very much. I just love the fact that like Roger is like the lover of life. Yeah, just because she makes a laugh. And that's that's always chubby lads doing to get the girls to laugh and stay with us.

And when I can walk, I can walk on the stood part. Right. And I used to do that all the time. I didn't have a lot of places to skish where I lived and especially in my back garden.
So I used to always walk on the stood and I used to pretend that we just got the side heels. Oh, very nice. So not very sad. So we should say challenge really.

Like it's a rarity and we know because I don't watch a lot but Roger Rabbit was. You can bet. You can bet. I'll give you credit.

It's just as you said it's everything that you watch or you're I'm not one of those ones that likes watching how they do it or the Vietnam like I went there Harry Potter Worlds down in Watford and it's for a little bit of the magic I know it's short aside but you see like how the portions like it's all mechanicalized and how the get you to ride the broomsticks and how the sets were built and how it's like how the show that's only you see parts or takes a little bit of the magic away. Oh, and again, like it's like the magician's tricks if you know what how it's done. It kind of it takes that element away but with this a lot of the actual practical effects were actually done in the way that you see it.
Like I know the can't get a live action card in but like Bob Hoskins gets thrown across the room and like Christopher Lloyd not him but like I say that like a blow up doll of him gets swashed by a like a steamroller. It's great to see the practical effects and like the reactions and how hard the others have to work to just to like pretend that like say Jessica's dancing in front of like almost drilling at the fort of this absolutely sexing though doing a marinam on rowing fashion in front of you and like playing that out and seeing them performances and seeing them doing it to like fierce or a tennis ball on a stick it's absolutely brilliant and how to do because that's basically how we get the eye lines right and get everything spot on but it's just so impressive and enjoyable and now when you get the jokes because it's something when you're watching as a kid you think oh I don't get that but then you're all the more I get that now. Yeah, you're laughing for the wrong reasons when you're a kid you just don't quite get it. Yeah, but it's an adult.

And Donald talking to me Doug's fight off freaking hilarious. And the oh god the I am hang on no think it's I love I love Eddie in the bar with when he's when Rogers when you first meet the judge I think I love that thing because obviously the wheels doesn't everything I don't like a bit with the dip obviously and the wheels are in the apartment yeah that is some funny shit absolutely hilarious shit anything to do with that cabin Eddie. This is I think this there's not a lot in here I can't see I love the opening with the actual cartoon I absolutely love that and I've just read as well the graffiti and toonetime bathroom reads for a good time called Alison Wunderland the best is yet to be. Oh wow.
Wow. Alison's being done down here. And apparently the fight off between Donald and Dappy was with their actual cartoonists. Right.
So it was their actual people who actually were drawing them at the time of when the movie was made. They were doing the battle right so they were doing the drawings for the battle. It was it was so I've been reading about it I was like oh it's so cool they were they were battling it out in pencil and paper and yeah they allowed us to do that. I thought it was fun.
No perfect. Like and I said that's how clever like this shit was and what a lot of people do have to remember as well this was before like I know there probably was a few computers involved but this was before we got the computer levels or like to use things a lot of this would have been painstakingly hand-drawn on film as well. Does it call stop motion? Stop motion.
Yeah some of it would have been. Oh look at me good will look at me twice in a row I've gotten two production things right. Yes. So the level that the did it as well it doesn't miss a beat like I like again can't wack lyrical how good this movie is and ahead of its time.
Massively and you're in awe at the fact that all you're all looking at there is just paper going over the top of each of that. It's absolutely crazy to get your head around what's your favourite bit? Obviously I loved the fear soft like you know the final battle like where Eddie makes the weasels laugh and you find out that it's the late wazels laugh themselves to death. And they all die in the most like horrendous way like falling off in a dip and they're all going off to like Cartman heaven as well which is hilarious and like the big gang leader of the weasels flicks the lever so it goes in but the fear soft between Eddie and like Judge Doom as well is just like mesmerising on all different levels just because you see Eddie embracing the tunes using things like a musical sword where the song is singing sort and that's just like it's weird.
It's a tarry conic jr who's singing is that I think that's who it's like aim to look at like as well friends and all something like that but oh I forgot about that dancing where the big musical thing starts playing and he's like it's an idea and he starts thinking along the lines of tunes. But then he fuses the giant magnet and that backfires on him then he uses the the whole thing to get out and when you see like Doom and Judge Doom being flapped and coming back up and the realisation as well because this is before big twists like this is before M. Night Shannal and Starcon along and twisting every little thing so maybe twists weren't really a big aspect of things people used to tell stories eight of eight and you're like oh that was a good story I was like oh you think it's over it's not and he turns out to say he was the main bad guy that basically killed Eddie's brother and he's red eyes that turned the daggers as well making it look like a dog. He's popped out I can still hear the bloke because he blaws himself up because he's flat and he blaws himself up and I can still hear the pop pop and then his eyes come out.
I think you would turn the bloke on as well but you didn't want to give people that kind of image. Absolutely I know that I know the kind of people I'm dealing with. Sorry guys you almost got like a screenshot there. Almost not quite.

Yeah because I thought Roger Rabbit was a short possibly before a big release that whether they did like a Roger Rabbit short. Yeah you're right. I know if you're trying to get like a Roger Rabbit fungal pop it's quite difficult to get your hands on to get mine from fucking Australia.
