And join us today who is, if not, one of the top wrestling nerds out there. So I had to get a lot of views from his mom when they did the last wrestling podcast. So now, so welcome to the podcast team. Now how are you feeling?

So what do you want to give us your top five wrestlers now? Yeah. Cool. So what do you like about Edge?

When I first watched him in the morning, 2020, 2020, I keep calling Grandpa. He did a lot of all of them when he first came. But like I said, it's been 10 years since he last wrestled. That was probably one of the best pops I've heard in a long time.

But I still got goosebumps with that one. So that's good first pick right now. It's really good. I love his theme music.

His theme music is the best. I don't obviously do so. I have the same one. Yeah.

Yeah. I really like that song. So what are you saying, Vic? I'm Randy Orton.

His first name is my last name. Oh, all right. So have you done RK or any of your mom yet then? Yeah.

Never again. So what's your favourite thing about Randy Orton? It moves. It's one of their moves that just comes out at no when it can be hit on anyone.

So that was always one of my things because you don't have to be close. A lot of wrestlers, if you're big, you couldn't be able to hit like the tunes on the big show. But you couldn't always hit RK on the big show. So it always works out there.

Sean Michaels is a good pick. He's one of my favorites as well. I was still shocked to the core that he only superkick, Marjorie Jeanette through the barbershop window. I still remember that.

It still sticks in your mind. I just don't remember him as like a referee that used to betray people when I was a kid. Because I didn't see his like, his men sort of run. I think that was the only injury as well when he was smiling.

All of them. I think it was a bit controversial at the start with these because the title takes his finish and move off them as well than the curd stomp because I thought it was a bit too violent. I've asked a laggot. I was well when he betrayed the shield.

That was a major moment. Let's be honest. We would all want to be treated all the way and to be honest with somebody. Yeah.

Yeah. Definitely. 100%. So what is it about Seth Rollins?

Like makes him give me a brush. Ever since I've watched him, ever the first time I ever watched Seth Rollins wrestle, I just knew he was my favorite right away. Wow. I think one of the greatest matches I ever saw was just on Raw.

And it was him. It was Seth Rollins versus Neville. It shouldn't have been anything special. Just a match.

But it was absolutely phenomenal. The both of them too. They didn't know what to call them. They didn't know what to call them.

I didn't think about you knowing why you would like Seth Rollins. Sorry. Also when I went to be really live, I got everyone to show. I just went to the front and I was telling my own challenge.

I think we're going to win, but I really hope Seth wins. Or we'll be all cheering him on for you. Yes, because it's a shame because we want Seth to win. I don't like the big dog.

I think I can see with the Royal Rumble, that's always been one of my big, big favorite events. Hopefully there's going to be a few surprises this year as well. I'm going to be watching it this year. Yeah, I know.

I'll have a third time being uxville's in the Royal Rumble. I think that might be true. Yeah, I heard that as well because he's promoting these new films. I'm really excited for the all women's Royal Rumble as well.

The Irish Laskica. Yeah. There's a few good female wrestlers now that's come out and it's such a variety. I know there was a big one.

I don't know if Trisha's been announced because Trisha was in the last female Royal Rumble as well. Sure, I think that we've been doing beef online with her in Charlotte. So rumours that's going to be the WrestleMania match between Charlotte and Trish. So exciting times ahead.

Interesting. I was getting attacked by his catch. I told you the minute my heart arrived, I would turn into a feral little beastie up in the road. I would be like, oh, yeah.

So when, so yeah, if I'm not stuck, is your man, I'm going to let you stop and watch the Royal Rumble or is going to be the next year? Oh, the Royal Rumble. The next year. Ah.

So how many events have you been to in Nail? One. Oh, there's one more than me. On my birthday two years ago, I went to see Priny and I went to ring and it got to top rope and the junk door.

Yeah. Yeah. I've met Priny before as well at the bar after a match. Nice guy.

And all of Donut was getting excited because she wants to be her female wrestler. You think Donut could be a wrestler? She's a scary one on the couch. She's got a bit of a pH up to it.

Farmer's Fails. So some of these are the hay bales. I shouldn't be telling you this sorry, Joey. We used to be friends, we used to go and play Royal Rumble on the hay bales and actually throw each other off.

And these hay bales are about four, five, off the floor as well. And if it was always the last one standing, but you're surprised we didn't get more hurt. Let's keep Niles in the game and don't try this alone kids. That's the word I'm not involved.

So this week's episode again, like, say, I know you've already mentioned it is going to be like the wrestling, early chat. I know we've gone back to the top fives, but we wanted to explore a little bit and see why people got into the, like, how can I describe it? The meal sort of for, you know, I would say, this year's to be our East End is our coordination streets. Like the sort, like, it's going, it's changing back to now.

I would say back to more wrestling than it was been for a long time. But some of the storylines we've experienced over the last 20 years have been from the Mears and to absolutely ridiculous. But it's always kept us in it. But I'm interested as well in what got used into the wrestling aspect like for each person.

So, I know I've gone and run with quite during the first 15 minutes. So I can use a chance to speak. So we'll go with the lovely Donna first there. I actually got into it as an adult.

Like, I didn't go up with the wrestling. And it's literally just basically one day it was on the Terri and I was sitting down. I was watching it. I was like, he was a good shit.

I was like, I was like, what's going on? And then from there, I was like, I started watching, well, and smacked down everything. And I just literally just saw it on the Terri and felt like I'm going to start watching the film. Sorry.

I think I was the same question. I do remember like sort of what era like what match it was, like type of thing. No, no, I don't want to know. No, actually, it was.

No, it was an old. I didn't do this. So, like, go on recently or was it like in the last five or ten years type thing? I think it was like 2014 maybe around that time.

That was actually like, that was like a moment when I got back into it sort of thing. Because I definitely had a big patch of knot. So I can see why I kind of caught your interest around that era because it was sort of getting good again when the shields were around and stuff like that. See, that's weird to me.

I mean, it's hard to see the shields because the shield still feels quite modern. But when you think about it, it's not compared to the rest of the rest of the world. It's like almost ten years ago, which scares the life of the whole thing of like the rock and storm gold being only ten years ago. But it's been a minute.

So, yeah. What about your grunt? I think yours is going to be the more violent side. Well, yes, I know.

I've fallen in and out with a couple of wrestling a few times over the years. I got into it when I was a kid, kid, you know, a whole co-organ, Oliver Loria, Andre the Giant. That kind of era and then I fell out with it in me teams. And then how old were I?

Well, I've been probably about 18, but yeah, I would have been 18 when a Royal Rumble 2000 happened and we were showing it on Channel 4 and I was just like, yeah, I'm not wrestling in ages. And to me, Rumble 2000 is still the immaculate pay-per-view. You've got me into it. That's what got me into wrestling.

Yeah, that's what it is. You know, you've got Triple H vs. Captain's Jack in a Street Fight. You've got the start of TLC with the Hardee's and the Dudley's Out of the Table match.

That's the other big one from that. You've got me, you've got me, you've got me, you've got me, you've got me running around with a tip-seut. I was literally just like, I was literally like, what was this? I forget about that.

You take that image. None of the most stuff today at all of the time. I had to feel like a big red X over it. I'm like the videotape.

I watched that live, man. I saw them in all of the glory. The fuck you just were... De-batable, to say the least.

Was that the same time? Was that the same time? Was it the same time? Was it the same show where Joey Loh's then wife got hers out?

Was it? No, no, it was TLC. She had bubble wrap bikini on. It was a bikini showdown thing.

Of course it was. The half-warp bikini. Then Megan was like, everybody wants to see my puppies. I spoke with it for a while after that and that did get me into more of the hardball and the violent stuff.

I became a really big fan of ECW. I started watching back through the old DCW paper views. For all these biographies, I went and got the IWA Kawasaki Dream, the hardcore championship that he talks about loads of that. Then I fell out with it about 2005, 2006 when it was just John Cena winning everything all of the time.

I probably started to get back into it about four years ago. Whenever the first night of the world in where Rumble was, and since then, women's wrestling has taken over as my favorite. Not for pervy reasons. As the show goes on, I will talk a little bit about female wrestlers because some of the girls that are wrestling at the moment are phenomenal.

Beyond belief that they put them into shame in every single department. I couldn't agree with you more, Grant. It's the tides. I watched it.

I watched it purposely. The Royal Rumble is coming up just with the females. I have no interest whatsoever in the men. I can't wait to talk about that.

That's cool. Interesting. I think I briefly talked about mine. It was for me, man watching the Warrior coming down to the ring and going absolutely not on a ring roll.

He couldn't wrestle for shit, but his entrance blew my mind. I think what is this? It's out there. I hadn't seen it.

But then I grew in curiosity. I've always been a fan. I've probably lost as much interest in the last five years. Just because, as I said, I think what Grant said perfectly, it's evolved into the female wrestling side, but the male wrestling hasn't evolved as much.

It hasn't went backwards. I always say it. Again, I know, like, say, topics we're going to talk about, like, what aspects you like, what you don't like. It's kind of losing the element of where it's fun in a way, because it's kind of that aspect.

I loved all school. I got from my character's like the million dollar man, Vandy Savage, the big boss man. Even though he's not an exposener, I adore Hulk Hogan as a child. Just because he thought he was all American.

Even though the vitamins he was asking you to take when I accept the vitamins. As I was getting all the time embracing things like JX, Nick Roberts, Nick Foley, but mankind. Again, I was laughing at this lazy element. I was introduced to ECW and I actually adore ECW due to a certain channel called Bravo.

It did have a lot of tits on. As a teenager, I used to always be waiting for the tits to start. ECW used to be on before any type of ironic movie. That was always my idea.

We had to say, oh, I'm just going to stop and watch the wrestling. I'm through watching it. I end up loving ECW a lot more. That kind of got us back into WWE as well because the out of the studio, and again, I know it gets a lot of questionable stuff was done during the out of the studio.

Women weren't right, minorities weren't right. But at times, it was entertaining. The things that were negative, but the things that I brought and the characters I brought out, you could look at it like Stonkold and you thought, I hate my boss. That's why Stonkold kind of what you hate.

Someone who would tell you about your teachers and stuff, degeneration X. Lots of people. I'm telling you, it's a lot of people. Lots of people are getting too old off of doing the crutch for things.

Which is what we do actually. That's kind of how, I know what WWE now is doing. It's for the PG and it's for the commercial side. It's for the sponsorship.

It's basically corporate. We did get the corporation. Now we've actually got the real corporation. That's kind of like in the life of WWE a little bit more.

But yeah, so that's my little story. What about you, Jake? Yeah. Well, I think me and Sammy have got like same stories about our grandads letting us watch wrestling with them.

But yeah, I think one of me friends just like tipped that Royal Rumble 2000 off channel 4. That was kind of like definitely the first full event I'd watched. But then, because I used to stay at me, grandparents on Saturday nights, they had Sky, so I could watch SmackDown every morning with me grandad. And he saw like Tautas, because I think he'd been watching World of Sport and probably some of the oldest stuff like Hogan and that era when he would have been probably maybe typically to all the watchers.

But I think back then, you could watch wrestling as an adult, couldn't you? I was told it was for kids when we were doing it for some reason. I was just a taboo type thing because it was still Kefab too in the time as well. They wouldn't break like behind the curtain, like half the stuff you get told now or you hear about now wouldn't be dead.

Like look at that, look at that, Doctor Def Williams when the guy dead at Asuka was fake and he got slapped out on the pre-mast. Yeah, didn't he like knock him out or something as well? It was like a big thing. Actually, he didn't, like Vader did that as well, didn't he?

More slightly. It was like he got like detained and couldn't fly back and it affected the storylines because he like chocked some guy like him in the Undertaker on like some chat show. I don't know what you mean. Is this grabbing him?

Is this field theatre? Is that field theatre? Yes. I'd say even though I've actually written the fourth all here, the finishes are pre-determined.

What to do in the ring, what do you do? It's nowhere fake. Like I wouldn't make it slap in the fear, so I'll hit the heads down as I do. And you can see the welts and even when they're under ropes as well, the bruiser leaves it off there and all you build calluses and stuff like that, but Jesus, I'm a soft little chubby boy.

That would not like that. Yeah, sorry, Jake. No, no, that's like the only other thing I was going to say is like we grand out sort of like taught us like how wrestling all works. You know what I mean?

Like he never like said it was fake or anything, but it's just you kind of, you got to learn like how it works, haven't you? Like, oh, this character does this. You know, this guy's the bad guy. We don't like him, but you know, he's not really a bad guy.

Like another type of thing. So you are okay to like the bad heel if it's like a good wrestler that you want to see more of. But yeah, I think that's like a big part of wrestling. Sort of getting into like the half backstage.

Like that's why it's so interesting I think because there's like the fake world. And then there's the real world that feeds into the fake world. Like here, all the backstage dramas and like this guy hates this guy. And that's why this match happened because, you know, Dribblett was trying to bury someone in the back, right?

It's just right now, it just feels like all the illusion that made it so special is broken. Yeah, I was just about to say like about like you were saying like Royal Rumble's like, I think like I've like fallen out of love with that match format because you can tell who's going to win now. Whereas when I was a kid, I was either too dumb to pick up on it or hit it a little bit better, like about who was actually going to win. Probably half and half.

Yeah. Cool. Well, but you've something like you've finished. We all know my story.

If you've listened to this podcast, you will know. I think I've mentioned it a few times now. We've run father's in a wrestling at a young age and it just, I loved it ever since, but it's not something that I would say I'm continuously on all the time, apart from a period poor when the rock like exploded, like exploded out of it. Like I want to say no way, but that's not the case.

And it was triage and the rock just back and forth. And it was the greatest moment in wrestling for me. And it's been, it's been in life all my life, but it's not something like I kind of like, I can come in and out of it and be totally fine with that. But I love going back to the evening now, going back to the attitude era and just looking at what we thought was acceptable and storylines because as nearly as a 40 year old woman, I was like, hmm, questionable.

That was like a question that sort of just came up with there when like Grant was chatting. But like, can you remember like the one moment that made you like stop watching wrestling? Like, oh, this is too much. Like for me, it was Eugene when like the brought that character in sort of in the 2000s.

Yeah. And I totally understand what they were trying to do. But I think like it just made me uncomfortable even as like a team. And it was just kind of like, I just kind of left it and sort of didn't go back to like 2012ish time, 2010.

Yeah, it was the, it was the, when it started going PG for me, that's not, that's not my wrestling. And I'm still not 100% okay with it. And that was about my time. I think for me when I thought I went to saw about tears is when I think in was, I think it was near, I was the leader of the story line.

Yeah, I mean, I'm the drop kick to like a window of drop kick to be a baby. And once it was done. He like knocked out of the apron, like not beat her off the apron and that was supposed to be the last baby incident, which yeah, that's not a good idea. So bad to you.

How many things has lead to being in that is so bad to you that edge. Oh, when you saw all of them, it wasn't meant to say all the things, but you saw all of them later. Oh, the rated R super star. I guess Donna hasn't had it before the moment yet.

Have you seen anything that you've kind of just like checked out on him in like this is awful and turn it off. I was obviously more recent, but I was kind of zoning in and out of it anyway. I kind of got excited when they're in the fiend and I was so excited for that. And then I didn't really go how when I was in all the fire and then I was just like, I can't be at all the same.

Yeah, it does happen that way. It's something so simple. It's like I'm done with that now. I can just walk away from it.

Yeah, I love the Wyatt family. Like when they first came in and stuff. We just had a secret message. We can see you.

Just casually walked in to tell us some and that Mr Ali's asked for his release. Yeah, I saw him in that today as well. See a grant. What was the all like moment?

I've noticed you've changed as well. I got to go. Similar to Sammy and the fact that coming out of the back of the attitude era, everything started to kind of go a little bit stale, especially after the WCW takeover and invasion and that kind of thing in the ECW disappearing into the ether. I don't obviously WWF bought them out and brought it back and all that kind of thing, but it just started to get too samey.

I liked the absolute insane ridiculousness of the attitude era in the few years after and I adore Nick Foley. So when Foley retired, I was like, oh, so why? Yeah, I just got bored. Yeah, there was nothing entertaining about it for me anymore.

No, it seemed to be going round in circles, especially when the storylines were the thing. I think going back as well to what GX said about GV on Comfooler. I remember what because I was a huge mix of him. And saying he's matched with the rock.

Was it Survivor Series? I can't remember the thing where I think there was 20. I quit match. I quit match when he hung off Mick Foley's arms behind his back and I think it was 26 or 27.

One protected headshots with the chair of the head and it was so unnecessary. And especially when you watch the documentary afterwards, they're beyond the match. I'm seeing what was not planned. Again, another rock has a lot of good press for being a nice guy.

But the fact that he didn't go on scene Nick afterwards to see if he was all right. Yeah, that's not good. Yeah, and same mixed families reaction as well, kind of how they impacted us. He's at the front row.

I was there all day. Oh, wow. I thought he was dead. I didn't have to fake that I quit as well.

That was completely big. That wasn't him saying it. That had to do with the match. No, no, no.

It was supposed to be the new screw job that we wanted to reenact them on the old screw job. So that was going to be the storyline. But after that, on the state, I make the cover the next day. So I don't think you ever wrestle the rock again after that.

I could be wrong. But I don't think that had a match after that. Then the other rock of the action happened after that. That was before or after.

Yeah, and they had to talk about it a bit more. Yes, that's right. That's right. Man in every corner.

See, that was McVoly and not man. So I'm kind of a wrestler again. I know I read an interview with Mick did that was one of these returns that he was coming back to WWE and they were going to have him with the rock. And they went, oh, well, what storyline can we do?

Because we've done so many great storylines. He went, well, I was clear back to the table and said, look, this is what happens. And he didn't come back and says, and the rock said, no, because that would kill any type of career you would have if you pointed that out to people like in the wrestling world. And I didn't realize that this happened, but we can't do that.

So that's why they didn't have like the return match or something like that. And I'm mixed with many returns. But I'll say there's a lot of dark stories with like, say the wrestling stream and all just by watching the documentary. That's the thing that's three seasons like the dark side of the ring.

Some of these some of the episodes are so hard to watch. And I get scared called it entertainment because it's people. It's real life and stuff. But these people's like, they look like superheroes, but the kind of must think of it themselves as that way as well.

So it must change the way they think and how they act in normal life. Because I know I think Granty and Donnie Usboth said he's been watching them recently. Like I said, I don't know what kind of impression did you get from them as well. There's a few episodes that actually made me cry.

Like I think I cried like four times during the grind pill in episode. They are really hard to watch. Yeah. The brand called the what was so I said, I think we've done two episodes.

Two episodes, one of the had to. Yeah, so much to cram in. The one that got me the most was James Nick and Robin Robin. I didn't know why he did that was his sister.

If you want to know about Jake, you can literally watch ducks and be on the mat and then that and then the resurrection of Jake's name and you've got his whole life and an explanation for him. Someone is someone okay? They're just a dog. I'm going to be a mum again.

So you've got like a timeline of Jake's name, like life really and an explanation for him. Now he's back in A.W. being a manager. So I just want to say nothing for good things for that man.

He's looking well in the A.W. as well. It's not like a return of like whether all the warrior came back and started sprouting off really weird stuff. I remember that when he was coming back in W.W.

when he was supposed to go to fight against Hulk Hogan and he came in and done a 15 or 20 minute pro or just talking about the most weirdest stuff with Hulk and Kevin Nash down and that just like trying to get scared. They kind of ended up looking like bored after it as well. Yeah. The other year the the ultimate warrior is motivational tapes.

I mean, brought out like this like this motivational self help program and what have you. But there was nothing to it. It was literally just audio tapes of the ultimate warrior screaming abuse at you. So you play while you were working after one.

That's a good place. Come on. I think what Paul was saying applies very well to the ultimate warrior. I think he genuinely believed he was some kind of supernatural alien warrior thing.

You'd hear stories about him being like really weird backstage as well because like he apparently wasn't a nice guy and didn't like make any friends basically. But like he was so serious about his workout. He would like go to the cafeteria grab like a bunch of cookies and like smash them into dust and just like inhale the dust. Like that was his dessert.

I know the dark side of the ring up sort of him really like I got a shock. That's not how I expected that man to be. I know I expected something crazy but not outside of the ring crazy. If that makes sense.

Oh no. The best story I ever heard about. Did you ever hear about his interaction with Andre the giant? No.

So basically they had a like because they do a time where they pay people up to fight in house shores and stuff for a certain time. So I think they had a six week run against each other and be like for the first two weeks. All the warriors like big moves was the running clothesline and the big splash. And for the first two weeks because one of the tricks that Andre and trying like Steve was to show you size and choice thing was to stumble and fall on the middle rope.

And build the warrior kept on trying to knock him through. So he was hitting on the giant as hard as he's come. And someone said sorry I'm not going to do it. It was like a mixed French Canadian type thing.

He was just like, hey brother, have you like that again one more time? I'm going to hit you. And all the worries go, sorry man. Sorry man.

It's just the persona. It's just because you're not going to talk shit to Andre the giant Jesus Christ. And most people said and he did it the next night. We're going to see everything come up to the clothesline boom hits under the giant.

So the giant goes right didn't even move didn't flinch. And this was in what he does this lot. He didn't use a hand to use his full fist and hit him and write these just and the warrior went down and couldn't get up. But yeah, and then for the next match, they were the worst clothesline ever made because they were the warrior barely even touched on.

It's very similar to like Chris Jericho and Goldberg. The stories I've heard from like when Chris Jericho just was like, I had enough. I can't take anymore of this pitiful wrestling that I'm getting. I'm just doing it.

I think the Jericho one was always quite good. I think the WSAW that was how he couldn't do anything about it because Goldberg ran the show. When he come to WWE, this was Jericho's house and Jericho built himself up from mid cards by starting the top went to mid card and went back to like being one of the top stars. And then Goldberg finally came in.

They were on a level playing field. And Goldberg saw coming in to one of his big job around and Jericho took him down and beat the show. I heard backstage fights broke out between the two of them and Jericho man handled him. He was the Canadian's man.

Never for the Canadians when it comes to wrestling. No, not at all. To be fair, because Jericho doesn't look the biggest guy. I heard the one most recently when he was doing the run with WWE.

He pinned Brock Lesnar up against the ball for what he did to Randy Orm. And Brock Lesnar just turned around and went, yeah, I've kissed me up on the street. Because it was a shoot where Brock Lesnar used the legitimate, Elba was the Owens head. He was one of the most brutal things I've seen in a while.

But backseat to Jericho didn't know it was an actual work of the Thor. Lesnar took liberties with him and he'd lost his shit with Lesnar. Lesnar's like ultimate fighter. He knows how to fight.

But Jericho had the balls to go, say right, let's go. He's not scared. That's the terrifying part of Chris Jericho. He's not scared anyone.

Can I just say before we go to the Charlotte's just made a look comment in the chat saying, Jake looks like a commentator. He needs a cowboy hat. God. That's great.

It's a half. E.J.R's commentary though. They just take a second to appreciate how did that man get through a whole episode of maybe a two-hour programme and not lose his voice? The only time I've heard him lose his voice is at the end of WrestleMania 17 when like Austin joins McMahon.

Yeah. And like at the end of that when he's shouting like it's proper, he's probably losing it like just being like, he signed a seal with a devil himself. What the hell's Nick? Hello.

Good old J. I know we were talking about this before we came on live, but I thought it would be quite a good topic because we've all seen different things happen during like wrestling. So what's your favourite box? Like Miss like thing that hasn't went what's went wrong and you can tell clearly it hasn't went wrong.

Yeah. Can I go first? Yeah, go first. Yeah, it's just because of the top of my hand and it's not something I should be laughing at because it's absolutely atrocious what happened.

And it was a very bad mistake on Brie Bell as part when she did the Yes kicks to live more than she knocked her out on the second kick and kept going. Oh. And she was she was literally hurt if you if you can see live more than pulling her head back her eyes rolling in the back of her head and Brie at the position that she's in could clearly say that. But she's still kept she's kicked her two more two three more times and then live just slums to the floor and doesn't move and Brie doesn't know how to react.
