Netflix's Below: The Next Stranger Things
from The League of Fright Hosted by AC Wilson
As Netflix prepares to release its new limited series Below on October 8, 2026, the show is already being touted as a spiritual successor to Stranger Things. Actor Charlie Heaton, who previously starred in the hit Duffer Brothers series, connects the projects through their shared small-town horror themes and monster-hunting plots. In Below, Heaton portrays Wade, the son of a fisherman named Calvin, played by Josh Hartnett, as they fight to survive a terrifying sea monster attack in Newfoundland. This upcoming mystery thriller taps into the massive streaming success of atmospheric supernatural stories, following in the footsteps of recent Emmy-winning hits like Apple TV's Widow's Bay. Ultimately, Below aims to fill the void left by Stranger Things by delivering high-stakes family drama coupled with chilling genre thrills. "Do you like scary movies?"
