Greed is greedy. Welcome to another episode of Truth to Power. I'm your host, Taras and Unite. And tonight I want to talk about something that's very important to the Black community.

The topic of tonight's show is your network determines your net worth. Now for those who are listeners of the show, then you know that I like definitions. So the topic is queer and define, and we know where we're going. So let's start with networking.

Networking is defined as interacting with other people to exchange information and develop context, especially to further one's career. Net-worth is defined as assets minus liabilities. Now this past week, they had the early even waters. And I attended that because of the fact that I wanted to do some networking with Urban League, and I think it's a nice good to do some networking with.

I'm a generous, lawyers, artists, and just different people of wealth and life. I miss a very powerful people. And one of the reasons why I wanted to network was because of the phrase I heard, it said, I tend to become friends with at least five million names because chances are that you'll become the sixth, you know, and that goes to the other terms that we hear on a daily basis like, birds of feather fly together. You are your friends, that's another phrase.

I'll be phrasing this one thing in common though. Yes, speaking towards your social circle, with some way determines your social, and in some cases your financial progression. A group of people on the same agenda, they have the same code and the same goals as a very powerful group. In Black society, it is hard and difficult to find people with the same goals and work that's as good as you.

However though, it's not impossible. Once you find people with the same determination, the same ambitions, they are progressive, visionaries, you make them your friends, you have associates and your partners, because those are the people that you wanna be around, those are the people that are going to determine your network, those are the people that are going to get you those connections that you need, you know, people with the experience. Now, recently, like I told you guys, I made an attempt to network with a group of Black professionals that are early in the world. You know, and just politicians and many other people who have become successful.

Now, I myself, I like to use the wolf as a sample of my spirit animal. Why? Because the wolf is smart, fast, vicious, and doesn't kind of care the risks that you need to, not only survive, but to drown sufficiently as well. A wolf is no doubt a threat by himself, but he is very dangerous in a pack.

A wolf pack has the same goals of hunting. They're all hunting together so they can eat. I propose that two ladies and gentlemen need to find your own pack. Some people who are just as focused are hunting and eating as you.

Now, we as a people have learned something sometimes, this could be kind of taboo to speak about. I don't know why we saw a shame that this particular subject would come to business, but we have to learn and practice nepotism. nepotism is the fact that the practice among those with power influence of everyone relative to our friends, especially by giving them jobs. Now, what's interesting about this is that we as Black people I think have a problem with this.

We have a problem with putting somebody on the human hand and helping them up because we feel like the person comes a threat. Even our family members at times. However, if you look at people like Donald Trump, he's giving us friends jobs, he's giving us family members jobs in the White House. This is how power works, power, chess power with relatives and friends, and keeping a small circle.

Even a mob, that's how they work. They put their friends on, get them jobs and have positions in a mob. But the things are illegal or legally, the other way is that people don't have a problem putting their family members on a different zone. And I think they really just start doing it ourselves.

Now, I want to share some quotes with you guys. If you want to know how people feel about themselves, look at their bank account. Money is the greatest measurement of your mindset. Wealth is less a matter of circumstances than it is a matter of knowledge and choice.

Now, that was a statement by John Lee Johnson from the Well Choice that I've been reading. And they also, even with their statement right there, I think that's a very accurate statement. I think if you want to know how people feel about themselves well, look at their bank account. The bank account is in their sentence.

Then most of the time, those people have the highest self-esteem by themselves. And somebody with the Law Bank account, they may not feel too good about themselves because they may not feel as if they're more accomplished than the person who would have made a billion dollars in a bank. So, as I said it, I've been reading this book on the Well Choice. And they gave me some disciplines of wealth.

It was non-disciplines of wealth. Now, what you guys have paid attention to it? Number one, be passionate and focused on unique strengths. Developed clear and delineated goals.

Okay? Two, be autonomous and independent. Highly motivated self-starters. Three, industrious strong work ethic.

Bias for action. Four, creativity and innovation. Recognize the power of ideas. Five, never considered a possibility of failure.

Six, inquisitive, strong desire to know. Quick to the goal, new information. Seven, strong sales skills. Sell is not a poor little word.

Eight, savings. Threaty and frugal in nature. And non-speritality and gospel of wealth. If you're a religion, I feel like you all should be probably the same as black people.

Now, getting your name and find out how to the world is very critical and important. We need to learn how to do a little bit of marketing also. People are Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, et cetera. And sometimes they're all known, but they share personal things, but they never show professional things or business things that they're into or even share hairstyles that they're into.

I think that once you decide that you were not before, that you could do it. That you could, that you could learn to sell things on a social media network. That you could use those platforms as a place to want to business for yourself. And to accurately and sufficiently take care of yourself independently.

If I only fire your boss, and I'm connected it later. So for me, black empowerment is black balance. We have to be more productive and network with more producers. We can decide now if it wants to be rich.

Just create a business, LLC, nothing but about 115 dollars in Louisiana. Get an LLC, which means limited liability company to protect your company. And also push yourself out of your comfort zone and lean on your networks. Like I'll just talk about finding your work like trying people with the same goal as you.

You know, just as determined as you, they have just as good as a work that's because you. And I think that you will succeed. I have 90% of faith that you will succeed. And like I've just talked about firing the boss.

I think that there comes a time when everybody's like that they must fire the boss. That they must say, hey, I'm done taking directions from you. I'm gonna start taking directions from me and become our own boss. Because you are the master of your faith and your finances.

Now, I'll just talk about marketing. I want to give you guys some work in the tips as well. Now, we're talking about marketing instead of public, is important to remember the four P's. The four P's are number one.

Product. Serv is defining services that a company has to offer will generally make or break the business. So you have to have a good product. Number two, price.

The price of a product is very critical. If you could get a high quality product for a nice affordable price, you will sell more than you will if it was at a higher price, I think. However, there are some exceptions to the rule. Like some name brands, brand calls like Gucci, Fendi, and Kohai, things like that, where people buy products like that and they sell it at a high price, even the iPhone, which is an inferior product at best.

But the fact that the price is high and it's popular and people are willing to buy it and buy it, they are able to raise their prices and come out with new phones and show you ridiculous prices for these phones, like $1,200, $1,200 for these phones. Number three is the reason why people pay for these phones is promotion. I think Alpha has some of the best promotion in the world. Proper pricing and having a good product, best of promotion is proper pricing and having a good product, but also getting your name out there and constantly telling people that your product is unique, your product is one of a kind, then that makes people want to buy your product.

Number four is place. Someone said how I have a product with a proper price and have a good promotion and it's really the success of a business, the place where people buy your product that's very important as well. Now, not so much because of the internet, then it's kind of made that obsolete, like having a proper place for it, being in an else scale neighborhood is something that that's kind of like obsolete, because you could gain what you want out the internet much faster, much cheaper, and it's much more available. So if your place is in there, then you are in an advantage, which is very, very, very crucial to this.

Also, I urge you guys to learn how to use your enemies. Sometimes we need to put our emotions to the side and use them as a tool for information and prosperity. I recently learned that sometimes people who make a set of your enemies can be very helpful towards you, but maybe you don't like them personally, that's nothing to do with business. For example, I mean, I say that to all you.

These two guys, they're always at each other's make, but in the past, they did a great business with each other. And if the opportunity presents itself again and the money is right, don't pretty sure that the guys will come to the table, but they're most in the side, all things that they say about each other's enemies and they'll be able to work together so that they can make even more money than they may previously. Now, back to networking. I want to give you guys some tips on networking.

Number one, build a genuine personal connection. Sometimes I can start with, I mean, when I'm networking, what I like to do is I like to start with just something that's the first as well, and they come out, I like to come over and introduce myself. If it's a person they own, they like to go on speech and they're not themselves, they're the very powerful person in the building. I want to get to know the most powerful person in the building.

I want to walk up to them boldly and introduce myself and tell them my business, tell them a little bit about myself and get to learn them a little bit more as well. Although smile, you know, energy is contagious. If you smile at somebody, most times they'll smile back unless they're just, you know, they're just not in a good mood. Smiling is contagious.

That's one of the most close-up like that. Number three, listen when you join in a conversation and add input. Okay, so once you're in a group of crowd, powerful people or people that you want to network with, actually listen to what they're saying and just don't be so eager to sell your business. Listen to what they're saying and add your input.

You may have something useful to them. They may have something useful to them to have and you got to connect with each other that way. Four, be able, be yourself. Don't try to sell.

Be yourself. Go in there, don't be nervous. You know what I'm saying? Come prepared.

Be able to speak highly of yourself. As far as like selling, don't try to sell right away. Be able to be yourself and make you a good friend. So a good person, a good associate, if you want to build it, make a negative with them.

Number five, research attendees and compare questions. I just told you guys, like somebody that's very powerful in the building, most powerful person in the building, another person that's still a speaker, come prepared with questions from the egg interest, smile, give them the things. Chase, bring a friend. You know, you're always more comfortable with a friend.

If you're, you always yourself around your friends for the most part, I think. Number seven, be curious. I would be curious. Being curious is an advantage because of the fact, if you're always curious, then that means you're always seeking knowledge.

You're always being seeking knowledge and they also show the form of ability that you don't know everything. You know, nobody likes to miss a note at all. So always be curious. Number eight, introduce yourself with an anecdote, their resonates.

You know, introduce yourself, you know, just tell them who you are and you could make a joke that is kind of lighthearted and everybody could understand. Number nine, learn how you could help each new connection. Now, you understand why these people are benefit to you, how ever, where your conversation with them, make sure that they know that you could be a real, good benefit towards them, okay? Number 10, go in with a straight agenda and try to make a new friend.

Go in with a straight agenda and try to make a new friend. That's very important. Always go in with an agenda. Then you try to make a new friend.

Make sure that your agenda is going to benefit your own turn and your career and your business. And also, roll down some places for you guys that you've achieved in the network. Top three places in the network, I'm in my team, one conference. I never wanted conferences, as a matter of fact, when I was working on my master's and counselor, I even flew all the way to San Francisco for a conference, the ACA.

I had a great time. I had all those friends, but I also got some new connections from people all over the nation and all over the world. And I got business cards, I worked the room. I wasn't afraid to talk to anybody.

I'm a smile. I was always curious and I always want to learn more. Number two, business building seminars. When you first started business art, you need to connect with people that's been business owners for a while.

It's very important to attend these types of seminars because they give you an advantage and they also give you new connections. And it's all about connections. Let us say seminars, number three. Let us say seminars, you can learn how to sell or buy.

Let us say, and that's very important because, well, first you can sell a real estate also. Buying it, that means that you either need a place to stay for a while, so that you can appreciate it. And you renovate that property, then you can eventually sell, which you can become very rich out of. And also, just getting to know people, and getting to know the information on properties and real estate in general.

Now, I want you guys to remember what I said in the beginning, your network determines your network. That's all I got for you guys tonight. I'm your host, Harriman Knight, aka the truth, and the number. The truth is powerful.

And we just spoke truth to power. Thank you.
