What's up everybody you are now tuned in to twice born radio. This is Jay and actually I'm solo today I'm here because I got something to rent about yeah, you want to know what grinds my gears? This is what grinds my gears. So check this out We're gonna be doing this from time to time and this is just a rant right now.

It's solo So my brother Devon is not gonna be on this episode essentially he may address the rant in his own way afterwards But this particular rant I'm going solo on I'm going rogue. I'm going to do my own thing and so Here we go. So the rant that I have for you today is really about Mr. Neverwood and made it Marvansapp it's about Marvansapp and the video that came out.

I don't necessarily want to play the whole video By now you've all seen it you've all seen it. You've all heard about it The reason why I'm doing this rant as well is a couple people hit me up and was like hey What do you think about this? So I find it best to you know kind of give you it in this one because I can honestly just kind of lay Out everything that I really feel like saying about it and kind of get it all out there So we're gonna do this in a layered approach We're gonna do this in a later approach. So I'm going to direct the rant at certain groups of people the first group of people that I'm gonna direct my rant at is the Group that would say this you see this is why don't nobody want to go to church Okay, so if you are if you're responsive this whole thing was this is why don't nobody want to go to church I'm talking to you right now.

So pull up pull up a chair and let me explain something to you This is not why you don't go to church. This is absolutely positively not why you don't go to church Because it is a very small portion of people that have actually dealt with some kind of church hurt And that's the reason or the thing that keeps them out of going to the church house The truth of the matter is most people don't go to church because they don't want to be accountable to anyone That's right. I said it like that accountable the reason that people don't want to be accountable to people Is because there's no better way to always be right than to never be questioned about what you do and how you do it And where you do it and where you do it and all of that information So the truth of the matter is for those people that are saying this is the reason why no one goes to church Or the reason why I don't go to church is because of things like this where Marvin sapp basically made this conversation with regards to You know closing the doors of the house that they were at close the doors close the doors close the doors Doors you're not going nowhere, but to the restaurant. That's what he said.

That's exactly what he said But there's context to this whole thing that I think is being missed But the reason why it's being missed is because everyone is just really focused on you see That's why I don't go to church and it's easy to jump on that train when you don't go to church because it removes you from the Accountability or the actual reason why you don't go to church It has nothing to do with what Marvin sapp made had nothing to do with a crooked pastor It has nothing to do with being church or it has nothing to do with any of that what it has to do with is the fact that you Don't have to face yourself when no one has charge over you long dramatic Paul's because when you really think about it when you really think about it There's no such thing as discipleship without the levels of discipleship Meaning if I'm being discipled I'm responsible To listen to the person who is discipling me and if I'm discipling someone I am responsible To pass some information to the person I'm discipling well Here's the thing I don't have to do that if I don't step into the church house where discipleship in my mind should be happening now That in my mind you don't see the air quotes that I'm throwing up But the truth of the matter is is that discipleship happens more outside of the church than it does inside of the church What are you saying more outside of the church than inside of church? Absolutely the best place to disciple someone is not inside of the four walls It is outside of the four walls because that's where life happens the truth of the matter is most people do not live their lives Inside the four walls now what they do is they send a representative inside the four walls But there's a different person who's actually outside of those four walls So I can't it's really hard for someone to be called into question when we don't know who we're actually dealing with in the first place And so even the relationships that you have within the church should always be relationships that are defined outside of the church Because I can't disciple your representative I have to disciple you as a person and the truth of the matter is is that many people don't want to show themselves Because they realize how ugly they really are and when I say ugly I'm not talking about beauty I'm talking about how put together you are I'm talking about how how you got it all because the truth of the matter is a lot of us are Really messed up really messed up, but the reason why we're really messed up is because we're not really into trying to clean up What's been messed up? We would rather Just act like it does not exist and so for the people who say this is the reason why I don't go to church We know that that's not the reason why you don't go to church The true reason why you do not go to church is because you do not want to be subjected or you do not want to be Under the guise of anyone you want to be rolled you want to be free to do what it is that you want to do without being Talked to or discussed or having a conversation with regards to what is right? What you should be doing what you should not be doing and the truth of the matter is that's not even how discipleship works The discipleship is not about correction only the discipleship is about developing a relationship of two like minds and How can we get better and how can we get closer to Christ?

And the truth of the matter is we know most people are not really interested in that So many people that come into the church are not even trying to be discipled because the the true core of church We've got away from discipleship. I'll put it out there. We've definitely gotten you know away from discipleship But like I said, this is a layered approach. This is a layered approach So my first conversation piece was really just to the person who says this is why I don't go to church I'm addressing you right now And the reason why I'm addressing you is because number one you should have nothing to say about what happens in the church if you don't step in the church Because you're not a part of the culture That's just like someone who is not like us having a whole lot to say about us You would find that to be very disrespectful, wouldn't you?

You sure would so why is it okay for you to have a point to prove and or a comment to make about something that happens that has nothing to do with you? Just want to put that out there. Maybe make you think about it just a little bit. I'm not a part of that culture Maybe I shouldn't have anything to say.

All right, so that's point number one Point number two, let's actually talk to the church Let's talk to the church for a second now many people are in the church inside of the four walls Okay, little sea church a lot of people are inside of the little sea church that are saying you know what? This is absolutely terrible. I can't believe this happened Let me just clarify something for you and there's a reason why I'm going through these steps You are a part of the church the first group that I was addressing is not a part of the church The second group that I'm addressing is a part of the church, but you are not cogic You are not cogic if you are not cogic you don't know what necessarily happens at these cogic Conventions so because you don't know what happens at these cogic conventions You don't know what it's actually going on you don't know why what was said was said and the fact that you don't know what was happening Means that you probably shouldn't have a comment on it because you don't know the full context of what happened there Now I want to go back for a second because I don't think I covered this but let me just go back and say something This was eight years ago people we are fake outraged about something that happened eight years ago Yes, it came back up this week. Why because somebody put it out on video.

I will cover that later But this was eight years ago people and we are now finding a reason to be mad about it now Let me go back to point number two in the conversation with people in the church But non cogic if you're not cogic Then you shouldn't have a whole lot of conversation and or opinion about what happens in the cogic church Yes, it does look bad for the church overall, but everything's gonna look bad for the church overall when there's no context The problem is that the video doesn't really give you a whole lot of context to what was going on So let's talk about the context a little bit So just a tad bit of the context and I really want you to understand when I get to point number three You're gonna realize I'm not defending any of this. I'm really not defending it However, I just want you to objectively look at it and not give the worldly response of Not in my church or you ain't no way he was gonna do that in my church and this that any other Let's let's clarify a few things number one. Number one. He never said lock the doors He said close the doors and the reason why he said close the doors is because there was a lot of people walking around during this offering appeal Now this was a cogic international convention There's at least a thousand people in the house like he said, but it's probably more than a thousand people But because it is a conference there are people walking in and out people are changing and walking through, you know Whatever, I don't know what the venue was that they were at usually it's at like some kind of a convention center or whatever But people are walking in and out they're walking in and out during a time of offering now if you are inside of the church Then you understand that offering time is usually a time where people are not walking They're focused on one thing and this is time for giving so we should be pretty still we should be pretty focused and we should be thinking about giving So the closed the doors closed the doors closed the doors was not don't let nobody out He was just saying hey, let's finish this offering Close the doors because you're not going nowhere, but to go get something to eat which is what happens at the end of the convention anyway Let's just do this offering appeal and then we can leave we're all gonna leave together It's it those are the exact words that he said Okay, nobody was standing at the doors with guns drawn keeping people in against their will I've seen comments about people being Kidnapped and this is illegal and this any other people relax Relax He's literally trying to get people to stop walking so that we can give air quotes honor during the time of giving That's all it is.

That's all it is. He's literally trying to get people to stop walking and give reverence during this time of giving now I come from a church where we don't walk during offering We don't walk during altar call and we don't walk during prayer now There's a lot of churches out there where anything goes and there's a lot of walking around and people moving around and talking and doing a whole lot of Stuff, but I come from a church where we didn't do that. We don't we don't walk during prayer If someone's reading scripture you stop right where you are and you wait until the scripture is complete You don't walk during prayer You know the ushers wanting to let you in while prayer is being said you have to wait until that happens until that's completed the same thing with Um like response to scripture or any kind of scripture that's being read the ushers are not gonna open the door and take you to a seat Wow scriptures being read. That's just not you know a lot of churches find that to be out of order Okay, now so what I'm saying is is that if you're not part of the kojik um Denomination if you're not a part of the kojik denomination then you don't necessarily know how these things operate I fully don't know how things operate, but I know enough to know that there's no need for us that he fake outrage over it I know enough to know that I also know enough to know and actually pay attention and listen to what he actually said Okay, now it's not just because i'm a pastor that I understand what he was saying and why he was saying it And I truly truly truly need you to hear my heart on this.

I think his tone was bad I think his tone was bad I think the tone that he had when he said what he said made the video easy to misinterpret what was actually happening It was easy to make you know the assumption that he's telling the ushers to draw their guns and keep everybody in and don't let Even want out until they give their $20 because we need $40,000 to do this that any other That's not the case It's not the case at all. He was talking about sewing a seed Okay, now I can get into a whole thing about churches and sewing seeds and all of that stuff But this rant will get a whole lot longer than I really wanted to go So I'm not really gonna go there But now I'm gonna go into point number three point number three now This is for the codex This is for the codex the people who are actually at the convention or in the convention or a part of the codex denomination I just want you to think about this if you're in leadership in the codex, you know realm of things I'm not trying to tell you what to do But you may want to consider not allowing cell phones into these conferences This is not the first time something has come out of this conference that seems to be very number one out of line But number two, it's easy to make a mockery of now We are the church and with us being the church we should not be giving opportunities for the church to be mocked God will not be mocked, right? The church will be mocked because of a lot of the things that are being said but God will not be mocked Now What I mean when I say this is we might want to consider Not allowing phones into these conferences Okay, because more people are recording than people that are paying attention to what is actually going on Remember in the last point when I was talking about things being done decently and in order So if something is being done decently in order, no one is recording the offering appeal Why would someone be recording the offering appeal? This was not done by a professional camera.

We can tell by the quality of the video. This is a cell phone camera Someone is recording the offering Someone was also recording when someone didn't want to mince no more Oh, yeah, you know exactly what i'm talking about, right? I am delivered I don't want mince no more women women women women women women women women women That was another mockery and or laughing at the church God will not be mocked but the church will why because we keep doing stuff like this Now, I'm not saying That this is completely wrong What I am saying is the tone could have been better But this also didn't have to be something that got out to the public because it didn't necessarily need to have the cell phone there recording I am not again. I'm not defending any of it.

You can come up with whatever thoughts you want to about whether it's right or wrong But the fact that we know about it makes it wrong. Does that make sense? To me this shouldn't even be something that is debated About the church in the church outside of the church. It shouldn't even be something that is debated Why because that's church business and if you're not in the church, you shouldn't even know what church business is Which means that the people who are recording in church are essentially doing the world's work Everything ain't for public consumption Every conversation that happens in your house is not for public consumption.

So why would you think that that would be the case here? It's not that we need to hide anything from the world. It's that certain things Are not meant for public consumption certain things we don't need to do anything that is going to push people away from the church What we don't need to do is just hand people excuses on why they don't go to church anymore back to point one point one was for those people Who are this while I'm going to church no more? Well, guess what?

We're handing them that we're handing it to them on a silver platter. Why because we keep doing stuff like this I'm not calling for anybody to make any excuses. I'm not calling for anyone to To apologize or anything like that. All I'm saying is church.

We got to do better. That's all I'm saying. We got to do better Church. We got to do better And with that being said, that's the end of my rant.

I just wanted to get that out there because people wanted to know How twice one felt about this and so I just figured listen I will go ahead and tell you how I feel and get it out there put it out there for you all to know This is where we stand now There's a lot more deeper conversation and I'll be honest with you if the vine was on with me right now We'd probably be on for another 45 minutes having a conversation about it because we don't necessarily fully 100% aligned in agreement on this This is more my rant than it is the rant of us together, right? Um, again, I'm not justifying. I'm also not downing. All I'm saying is we got to be better That's all I'm saying.

We got to be better. We got to stop giving people excuses on why they don't go to church anymore We need to you know, actually give better reasons for why people should be coming to church The clips that should be going viral about church should be the clips of people having life changing things Not the clips of things that will be detrimental and hurt the church All right, I'm done. That's my rant. All right, listen.

I love y'all. I appreciate you. Thank you for listening Make sure that you um subscribe share hit the link pass to a friend telefrant, you know, all those different things do it all But through it all just know that I love you and Jesus loves you too. Talk to y'all later.

Peace
