(NIV) 5 Consequences of Spiritual Amnesia 1. We stop obeying God’s commands and laws Deuteronomy 8:11 Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day. Acknowledge the goodness of God James 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (NIV) 2. Make a memorial so you remember the goodness of God Psalm 77:11 I will remember the deeds of the LORD; yes, I will remember your miracles of long ago. (NIV) Deuteronomy 8:18 But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today. (NIV) Joshua 4:21–23   Then Joshua said to the Israelites, “In the future your children will ask, ‘What do these stones mean?’ 22  Then you can tell them, ‘This is where the Israelites crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’ 23  For the LORD your God dried up the river right before your eyes, and he kept it dry until you were all across, just as he did at the Red Sea when he dried it up until we had all crossed over. (NLT) 3. Thank God daily for His goodness Psalm 9:1 I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds. Tell others about the goodness of God Deuteronomy 4:9 Only be careful, and watch yourselves closely so that you do not forget the things your eyes have seen or let them fade from your heart as long as you live. Teach them to your children and to their children after them. (NIV) 5. Never stop celebrating the goodness of God A. You need to daily celebrate and praise God for His goodness in your life.
