Never Mind the Consequence

Madam Madness is Dan Surman's most intimate and irreplaceable record — 12 tracks about memory, presence and the things that refuse to leave regardless of permission. East Coast folk fingerpicking, dark electronic atmospherics, literary indie precision and neo-classical chamber pop move through Caribbean obsession, winter isolation, cultural corruption and the love that precedes the catalog itself. This is the album that was always meant to close everything — unhurried, unresolved and completely certain of its own necessity. The final word in a nine-album conversation, and it earns every moment of that position.
