New apartment and townhome development near Temple University in the works

Students are moving into Temple this week. Soon, there could be a new spot in North Philly for workers at the university to do the same. An apartment building and townhome project is planned for 11th and Berks streets, at the edge of campus and a couple blocks from the Regional Rail station. A developer will put up 129 apartments, and the Philadelphia Housing Authority -- which owns the site -- will build 15 townhomes. The PHA told the Philadelphia Business Journal it expects construction to begin by the end of the year. (Rendering by WRT Architects)
