New canoe and kayak launch now operational in Mitchell's Bay

from Sydenham Current Sessions · host Sydenham Current

The Mitchell’s Bay Area Association, in partnership with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent, has made a significant improvement to the community’s waterfront access with the installation of a canoe and kayak launch on the left side of the pier. This new addition enhances safety and accessibility, making it easier for paddlers to get on the water. Further improvements are also in the works. Plans are underway to create a dedicated loading and unloading zone in the parking lot adjacent to the dock. This will streamline access and provide convenience for visitors transporting their equipment. The launch is already operational, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy the waters of Mitchell’s Bay with greater ease. As development continues, these enhancements are expected to bolster recreational opportunities in the area. Dave Smith, a member of the Mitchell’s Bay Area Association (MBAA) met us at the launch to talk about it.
