After a challenging relocation due to dangerous mold and air quality issues, the K. Margaret Carter Centre has officially settled into its new home at the former Prospect Primary School—now a safe, accessible, and vibrant hub for 44 individuals with intellectual disabilities. Thanks to community support, temporary spaces from Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute and Windreach Recreational Facility, and tireless staff efforts, the center continues its mission of empowering clients through life skills, friendships, and work programs. Ministry officials and the Ageing and Disability Services team ensured the new site met all safety and accessibility standards. All clients are now back, fully engaged, and the center’s operating hours remain unchanged—proving that with dedication, community, and compassion, a better future is not just possible, it’s already here.
