New Jersey DHS checking in on noncitizens who may still qualify for NJ Family Care coverage

from KYW Newsradio Audio On-Demand

New Jersey’s Department of Human Services wants to hear from 10,000 noncitizens who still may be eligible for Medicaid coverage. The department issued notices to more than 20,000 noncitizens to request more information from them to check their eligibility under new federal requirements. About half of those people have not responded. NJ DHS says many of them may still qualify for NJ Family Care coverage but only if they respond to the notice. State officials say they want as many people as possible to maintain their access to health coverage. (Photo: Getty Images)
