New Leader, Same Mission | St. Louis News

Brightside St. Louis welcomes its third executive director in 42 years, Joe Cunningham — a sustainability veteran with deep roots in recycling education and environmental advocacy. Stepping into the role after Mary Lou Green’s 36-year legacy of neighborhood cleanup, graffiti removal, and pollinator conservation, Joe brings both insider knowledge and fresh energy. Already a program manager at Brightside since 2025, he’s ready to rally communities around nature-based solutions and expand the organization’s impact under his leadership.
