Our pastor’s 27-year-old son used to be in church leadership, but he is now in prison for explicit child materials. A little girl in the church told her parents that he had abused her, but the pastor denied it. Should I report it? The church doesn’t know he is in prison. I experienced sexual assault in seventh grade that I repressed for 40 years, and recently my church has hurt me through gaslighting. I’m working through the trauma and unhealthy coping habits, like watching TV to numb myself, while taking medication from a psychiatrist. I have schizoaffective disorder and live with my brother. He doesn’t think I’m doing enough, and I agree. Is a lack of motivation common with this disorder? Whom should I believe when my wife and adult daughter from a previous marriage both accuse each other of gaslighting me?
