I’ve been estranged from my adult daughter for two-and-a-half years. We didn’t argue; she just stopped talking to me. She wanted me to help care for her daughters, but she suddenly exploded and screamed at me. I have a history of dissociation and unresolved trauma, and I experience muscle-memory responses connected to those painful experiences. Our bodies naturally try to heal and protect themselves. I was serving in ministry, but my husband was emotionally abusive, and I finally asked him to leave. Why does everything feel so difficult right now? My daughter now has to attend public school, and I feel like my life is falling apart. I’ve been married for almost 42 years, and we have a blended family. How can I reconnect with my husband without nagging him? We used to have daily devotions together at a set time, but now he won’t put his phone away.
