New Orleans Saints: Shough Named Starting Quarterback for 2026

The New Orleans Saints have officially designated Tyler Shough as their starting quarterback for the upcoming 2026 season. After being selected in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Shough eventually replaced Spencer Rattler and led the team to a winning record during his nine starts. Head coach Kellen Moore and general manager Mickey Loomis expressed strong confidence in Shough’s development following the unexpected retirement of veteran Derek Carr. Although the front office remains optimistic about Shough’s rookie performance and high completion percentage, they also emphasized the need for patience as he enters his first full year as the leader of the offense. This transition marks a new era for the franchise as they focus on building around their young signal-caller during the offseason.
