New Political Parties Contesting  RSA Elections

South Africans will be heading to the election polls on May 8 this year and according to the Electoral Commission of South Africa an estimated 27 million South Africans have registered to vote. Despite the fact that over two hundred and eighty parties had registered to participate in this election only forty-eight parties made the final cut to be listed on the ballot paper. Although analysts have predicted that the main contenders will be the three top political parties in country (which are the African National Congress, the Democratic Alliance and the Economic Freedom Fighters) there are new political parties that are now contending for this year’s elections. Does South Africa still need new political formations in its democracy?
