I have been making clothes since I was a kid. My mother worked as a magazine editor in New York City when I was young and this affinity and interest in clothing has always been with me. I love fabrics. I love shapes. I love messages. And when all of those are combined I can create a piece of clothing that is interchangeable as art. And that is exactly what I consider each of these Reality Now shirts—pieces of art. I don’t necessarily mean that in a pretentious way, I mean that in the sense that I am designing these one of a kind garments in the same way I would write a short story…using my intuition and creative spirit. Additionally, each item is imbued with various messages throughout, like the ‘honor your imperfections’ slogan, and the hang tag that has a specific message of a life well-lived written upon it. Notably, each item is vintage. Meaning, no new shirts will be used, instead, each shirt will be sourced specifically to fit the conscious esthetic I am creating.
