There are two main types of lung cancer: non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancer (SCLC). NSCLC is the most common type of lung cancer. In fact, about 80%-85% of lung cancer cases are NSCLC. About 40% of patients are diagnosed at a later stage of disease, such as Stage IV, when the cancer has progressed to other organs.
