New Thinking: Uncovering Queer Communities

from Arts & Ideas Hosted by BBC Radio 4

Covert queer communities are examined as Naomi Paxton is joined by Dr Tom Hulme and Dr Ting Guo. Tom Hulme is senior lecturer in the School of History, Anthropology, Philosophy and Politics at Queen's University Belfast. As part of the research project Queer Northern Ireland: Sexuality before Liberation, Tom draws on under- or never-before used archives to reconstruct Northern Ireland's queer past from the late 19th century to the beginnings of the gay liberation movement in the 1960s. https://gtr.ukri.org/projects?ref=AH%2FV008404%2F1 Tin Guo is senior lecturer in Translation and Chinese Studies at the University of Exeter.
