New To You ep101a: Personal Taste pt1

Welcome to the first episode of our show! New To You strives to present recommendations from at least two perspectives, the perspective of the first-timer, and the perspective of the person recommending it. Each week we'll be presenting one to three new things to experience. We'll be discussing book, films, albums, television, games, places, food, really anything is fair-game. The goal is to find things that at least one of the hosts/guests haven't experienced, let them do so, then bring them on and discuss their take on it. Sometimes it will be something contemporary, sometimes it will be something older, sometimes it will be new to none of the hosts, sometimes it will be new to all the hosts.     Segment 1: The Fantastic Adventures of Unico (film) Mary Varn (npccomic.com) recommends Unico. A Japanese animated movie produced by Sanrio in the early 80's, based on the manga by Osamu Tezuka.  It made its way to the US in the mid eighties when Disney Channel struck a deal to air it. Currently it is available in its entirety on Youtube, but it may be possible to track down a VHS or a DVD dub from a VHS.   Segment 2: The Original Sandy Denny (album) John Holt (@lordjoho) recommends the debut album of a little-known folk singer/songwriter from the late 60's. Sandy Denny's self-titled first album by Saga Records 1966-67, was rereleased under "The Original Sandy Denny" in 1978. You can find this album on iTunes, Rdio, and Spotify, among others.    Segment 3: Ender's Game (novel) Keith Vincent (earthlingkeith.tumblr.com)recommends a science fiction novel by Orson Scott Card, soon to be a movie. Published in the mid-eighties and based on a short story from the 70's, it is available from Tor in paperback, and ebook.    This is a public episode.
