from The New York Weather Podcast
Good morning! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the New York Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th. Folks, here's the deal. New York is running two completely different days right now. Buffalo's dodging flurries while the city sits nine degrees warmer. Classic Empire State. Let's take a drive. Down in the New York City metro, you're the warm kid at 38 degrees. West winds around 10 miles an hour keep things brisk. Dry skies, though. Perfect for a Saturday stroll through the park. Now head up the Thruway toward Albany. The Capital Region drops to 29 degrees. Barely a breeze. Quiet and cold. High clouds thin out as the morning rolls on. You'll want a real coat, not that fashion jacket. Over in Central New York, you're sitting right at freezing. 32 degrees with light west winds near 7 miles an hour. A slight chance of a stray flurry, but nothing worth canceling plans over. Here's where it gets interesting. Western New York is the troublemaker today. 34 degrees with southwest gusts to 14 miles an hour. About a coin flip on rain or snow showers hanging around. If you're heading out in Buffalo or Rochester, toss the umbrella in the car. Quick note on air quality. Moderate today at 55. If you're sensitive, maybe keep that jog short. Oh, and here's something worth smiling about. We're gaining nearly three minutes of daylight. Sunrise at 6:32 A.M., sunset at 5:20 P.M. Every minute is a tiny victory over winter. Here's your heads up for the week ahead. This quiet pattern sticks around. Temperatures creep up slowly, with highs climbing back into the 40s for many spots by Wednesday. No major storms lurking. Maybe a light shower Tuesday night, but nothing dramatic. Enjoy the calm while it lasts. Alright. If this forecast helped you plan your Saturday, share it with a friend who hates weather surprises. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow. Stay safe out there, folks!
