from The New York Weather Podcast
Good afternoon! I'm Aaron Jolly, and welcome to the New York Weather Podcast. It's Saturday, February 17th. Folks, here's the deal. New York is running two completely different weather days right now. Western New York is getting soaked while the rest of the state stays mostly dry. Classic. Let's start out west, where rain is the main character today. Buffalo and the surrounding area sit at 34 degrees with southwest gusts hitting 17 miles an hour. Rain is hammering down out there. If you're heading out, you'll want that rain jacket. The good news? Skies clear tonight as winds ease off. Lows settle into the upper 20s. Drive east into Central New York and it's a different story. Cloudy but dry, highs near 36 degrees. There's a slight chance of a stray shower, but most of you stay dry. Winds barely register. Tonight drops to the mid 20s. Here's the thing about the Capital Region. You're catching partly sunny skies and 39 degrees. Light westerly breeze. Maybe a passing shower sneaks through, but nothing to cancel plans over. Lows tonight land in the upper 20s. Now head down to the city. New York City wins the temperature prize today at 47 degrees. That's 13 degrees warmer than Buffalo. Partly cloudy with west winds around 7 to 10 miles an hour. Tonight cools to the mid 30s. Perfect evening for a walk if you bundle up. Here's your heads up for the week ahead. Sunday stays quiet and dry statewide. Temperatures nudge warmer, especially downstate. Then a cold front crashes the party midweek. Wednesday could bring rain or snow showers depending on where you're. One more detail worth noting. Sunrise hit 6:32 this morning, and we're gaining almost 3 minutes of daylight. Air quality is excellent. Great excuse to get outside. So. If this forecast helped you plan your Saturday, share it with someone who could use it too. Stay safe out there. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
