New York Weather 3/8 Morning - 23° Above Normal
from The New York Weather Podcast
Good morning. New York. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside right now and you're walking into a wall of fog. Forty-seven degrees and visibility so low you could lose your car in your own driveway. But here's the good news. That fog clears by mid-morning as a cold front sweeps through, bringing scattered showers before 8 A.M. Then the sun breaks through and temperatures climb. Down in New York City, you'll hit 65 degrees this afternoon. That's 23 degrees above normal for early March — feels more like late April. Tonight drops to 47. The Capital Region sees 54 today with a chance of morning showers, then clears to partly sunny skies. Tonight dips to 36. Western New York stays cooler at 45 with patchy fog lingering until 1 P.M. Winds gust to 35 miles an hour there — hold onto your hats. Central New York reaches 54 with partly sunny conditions. Tonight brings mostly clear skies statewide. Lows range from 36 in the Capital Region to 47 in the city. Monday turns gorgeous. Sunshine dominates with highs climbing to 64 across New York City and the Capital Region. Western New York hits 58, while Central New York tops out at 66. Light southwest winds make it feel even warmer. Perfect weather for a lunchtime walk if you ask me. Tuesday stays mild with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-60s. Wednesday brings increasing clouds and a chance of showers as a strong cold front approaches. That front crashes through Wednesday night into Thursday with heavy rain likely. Winds gust to 35 miles an hour ahead of it. Temperatures plunge behind it — Thursday sees highs only in the 40s to low 50s, with rain possibly mixing with snow Thursday night. Friday stays chilly with highs in the low 40s. In One note, spring forward tonight. Clocks move ahead one hour for Daylight Saving Time. Set them before bed or you'll be an hour late Monday morning. See you this afternoon.
