Newly unearthed Byzantine monastery to be uprooted for new neighborhood

In archaeological news, a large monastery with an impressive mosaic and many artifacts including rare horse toys dating from the Roman and Byzantine period has been uncovered in a salvage dig as part of plans to expand Karmei Gat in the center of the country.  Reporter Arieh O’Sullivan was on hand at the site and spoke with Shira Lifshitz, excavation manager on behalf of the Israel Antiquities Authority.
