News 2

from News · host Nana나나

Welcome back. Now Spain's prime minister has promised millions of dollars in reconstruction aid to La Palma because of the ongoing volcanic eruption. Incredibly this eruption is now into the third week and it keeps getting stronger. The volcano is producing even more lava with even more force, that’s why all lava and ash are pouring up into the sky higher and higher. The eruption has reached the sea creating vast clouds of steam and it is feared toxic gases. Thousands of people have been forced to leave their homes since the eruptions first began, 21 days ago. The director of the Canary islands volcano institute said he expects this eruption to continue for at least another 10 days, potentially another 2 months. Even then when the volcanic eruption stops, that’s not the end of the story. He said it could take years to recover from this, because there are vast lava trains right across the landscape. They have cut through twons and villages destroyed over a thousand homes. Communication lines and infrastructure have been destroyed. The eruption is still unknown how long that will continue, how much more lava it will produce, and how much more destruction it will cause.
