Federal investigators on Thursday released the final accident report on the Bering Air commuter plane crash last year that killed 10 people on Norton Sound sea ice, citing a combination of severe in-flight icing and a heavily overloaded aircraft as central to the tragedy. Three people are dead following a plane crash near McCarthy, according to Alaska State Troopers. Construction on a new roundabout at the intersection of Chena Small Tracts Road, Old Chena Ridge Road, and Chena Pump Road will intensify starting in August, leaving drivers and families near Woodriver Elementary School facing months of detours as the school year begins.
