The Alaska State Supreme Court ruled Monday that Dan J. Sullivan, the Petersburg resident with the same name as the sitting U.S. Senator, will appear on the August primary ballot, just hours before ballots are set to begin printing Tuesday at noon. An unoccupied house in East Anchorage exploded on Sunday with no injuries reported in the blaze, according to the Anchorage Fire Department. Dignitaries were on hand at the Don Young Port of Alaska Monday to kick off a major milestone in the Port Modernization Program, the start of construction on a new cargo bay.
