Next Steps Initiative — Trust
from LifeWell Messages
Proverbs 3:5-6 shows up on coffee mugs and walls precisely because we need constant reminding to trust God rather than our own understanding. This message asks the blunt question underneath the familiar verse: can God actually be trusted in the lows as well as the highs? Beginning in Ephesians 1 , the teaching argues that trust depends on knowing God intimately, and that he has made himself knowable through Jesus. Returning to Proverbs 3 , it unpacks the Hebrew sense of trust as clinging and acknowledging God in all circumstances, not only the comfortable ones. The honest center is a confession of leaning on one's own strength and trying to steal the pen while God writes the story. To hold on to God, the teaching says, you have to let go of whatever else you are clinging to; the outcome is God's responsibility, and obedience is ours.
