NFC North cutdowns: Minnesota initially kept four quarterbacks — Kyler Murray, Carson Wentz, J.J. McCarthy, and Max Brosmer — before moving Brosmer to the practice squad. The Vikings added veteran edge Kyle Van Noy to the practice squad, kept rookie punter Brett Thorson over Johnny Hekker, and heard GM Nolan Teasley say McCarthy’s story “isn’t written yet.” Detroit waived WR/returner Greg Dortch (now on the Bills’ practice squad), kept four receivers (Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Tay Martin, Isaac TeSlaa), and is thin behind Jahmyr Gibbs after Isiah Pacheco hit IR with Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph on PUP. Green Bay traded Kyle McCord to Miami, parked Josh Jacobs on the commissioner’s exempt list, has Micah Parsons on PUP, and may be without Tucker Kraft in Week 1. Chicago drew heat for Ryan Poles’ cuts, including waiving tackle Kiran Amegadjie, placing Kyler Gordon on PUP, and trading Gervon Dexter.
