The NFL Preseason got off to a hot start with the Hall of Fame Game in Canton, Ohio with the Carolina Panthers beating the Arizona Cardinals 33 to 30. Carolina quarterback Haynes King would score a rushing touchdown to win the game for the Panthers as time expired. King finished the game completing 21 out of 34 passes for 180 yards and two touchdown passes. In addition, he had three carries for 39 yards including the game-winning rushing touchdown. The Panthers running game contributed to the win with Miles Davis having 4 carries for 53 yards, and AJ Dillion having three carries for 18 yards and a touchdown. The Panthers’ leading receiver was Jimmy Horn, Jr. with four catches for 44 yards, while Ja’seem Reed and Anthony Tyus III scored touchdowns. On the defensive side, Jared Harrison-Hunte and Nick Hampton both recorded a sack. Meanwhile, Cardinals quarterback Carson Beck completed 15 out of 19 passes for 188 yards and a touchdown pass. Quarterback Kedon Slovis completed nine out of 10 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown pass. The running game saw Zonovan Knight having 12 carries for 60 yards and Corey Kiner with 14 carries for 57 yards and a touchdown. The Cardinals’ leading receiver was Jalen Brooks with three catches for 99 yards, while Simi Fehoko and Bryson Green scored touchdowns. The Cardinals defense got a sack from Andrew Billings, a forced fumble from Quinton Newsome, and a fumble recovery from Isaiah Oliver.
