The Seahawks opened their Super Bowl defense with a gritty 13-10 comeback win over the Patriots, but the story wasn’t as clean as the scoreboard. Sam Darnold exited early with a hip injury, forcing Drew Lock into relief, while Drake Maye unraveled with three fourth-quarter interceptions. Down in Melbourne, the 49ers made history in the NFL’s first-ever regular season game in Australia, routing the Rams 27-7 behind three touchdown passes from Brock Purdy and a big debut from new addition Mike Evans.   Elsewhere, Caleb Williams and the Bears put on a show, outlasting the Panthers 59-37 in the highest-scoring Week 1 game in NFL history, while first-year head coaches Mike LaFleur and Klint Kubiak both picked up wins in their debuts with the Cardinals and Raiders.
